'God this is boring as tar.' Aiden decided then and there that there was nothing more boring then orientation. The speaker, their class president, kept droning on and on about how their year was going to be great and how they were going to be awesome additions to the campus, and couldn't he get on with it already! The fawn's voice was starting to grate on the young kitsune's ears. The auburn appendages folding themselves down against their owners head as Aiden slumped further in his seat.
Next to him his twin brother was sitting with rapt interest. Eyes shining as he took in all the bullshit that was being spewed and tail swaying in excitement. A part of Aiden wished he could be like Andy, naively ignorant and excited for the most mundane tasks, but atlas he wasn't, and he was forced to sit through his boring Assembly. All because he couldn't tell his younger brother no. Finally after what felt like an eternity the speech came to an end with a few closing remarks and the audience was given release to go about the rest of their day.
The two new college students exited the gym, the elder pulling out a slip of paper that held their room arrangement. “Now that that's out of the way we should move onto getting our dorm rooms set up and…” Aiden trailed off as he noticed his brother had fallen behind. The fox-eared young man turned around and found his wayward twin a few paces behind him. Auburn eyes narrowed as Andy began to fidget and refused to meet his eyes. “What?” He asked. Wanting to know what caused his brother's suddenly nervous demeanor.
Andy opened his mouth, thought for a moment, and then closed it. Trying to come up with what he was going to say that wouldn’t make his brother upset. Finally he decided that he was just going to have to bite the bullet on this one. “Um.” he started out nervously. “About that, I actually agreed to room with Callum for the semester.”
Aiden’s eyes widened at his brother's confession. “What? When the fuck did this happen?”
Andy still couldn’t meet his brother’s eyes. “About a week after we got accepted.”
Shock filled Aiden’s system and rooted him to the ground. He should have expected this, Andy had been dropping hints that Callum, his boyfriend, was excited that he had been accepted into the same school and that he should room with him sometime. He had just assumed that it was going to be a few times a week though, and that he and Andy would still be roommates. After all, Callum was two years older then the twins and was able to have his own dorm or even live off campus.
“Wait, so who am I staying with?”
“I don’t know, but I can walk with you to your dorm if you want?”
When the two arrived at Aiden’s dorm the first thing they noticed was that the other bed, the one designated for an older student, was already taken. Books and other personal belongings filled the space. Andy set the boxes he was carrying next to the open bed before slowly walking out of the room. “I better go, Callum said he would help me pack after orientation. Is that okay?”
Aiden just waved his brother away, noticing that it didn’t take long for his brother to hightail it out of there and back to their car. As soon as he was gone the older twin let out a sigh before beginning to open on his many moving boxes.
