RETIRED NOTICE: This thread is closed and I am no longer accepting rp requests. This is set indefinitely. Normally, I wouldn't make like a big announcement or anything because Muse comes and goes. But after years of collaborative writing, the prospect of writing partnerships is actually a deterrent to my motivation for story writing. This thread is being kept as a memorial.

Hallo, welcome to my non-sexual rp search thread! I'm a bit oversaturated with rps that include sexual elements or graphic smut lately and I'm looking for something completely focused on the story instead.

There are a few different relationship dynamics I am looking for and this thread will be split up to make finding these easier. But first we will hash out the basics.

Buddy Comedy & Odd Couples

The ole Buddy Comedy and Odd Couple tropes. Where we're either best friends going on an adventure with crazy hijinks in the mix, or we don't like each other/don't fit well but somehow through the course of the story, we grow to depend on one another and sorta get along.

I love this dynamic. The two pals who know each other so well and would do anything for each other, yet always seem to be getting in and out of trouble together. Or the two people who meet for the first time and are just oil and water, snarky and jabbing at each other but the story makes it necessary for them to find common ground and pretty soon they too find they would go out on a limb to protect the other. There's just something very heartwarming and wholesome about it, while leaving plenty of opportunities for comedy and light-hearted story elements.

Like most of my plot seeds, the gender of your character doesn't really matter, unless specifically stated; I want to give you as much freedom as I can to create a character you like and insert them into a seed.

• The Band - fantasy, AU, instruments, music, adventure, quest, punk, rock

In a fantasy world where traveling bands of legendary mercenaries and adventurers wander the world taking contracts and quests, killing the monsters and beasts that plague the towns, seeking fame, wealth, and immortality, everyone has their angle. Most mercs fight with traditional fantasy fare - swords, bows, magic items, and spells. But the mercenary band Dead Air are an actual rock band who fight with magically endowed instruments. And they're in need of a new lead singer(male or female) before they go on their next quest.

If you don't want to play the lead singer but have an instrument in mind, we can change who they're looking to recruit to round out the group.

• Dragon Money - comedy, fantasy, romance, dragons

Dr. Simon Stohl is a snake oil salesman. Traveling the countryside from town to town, he tries to sell the masses on his junk science and false promises. Until he hears of dragons in a particular valley. Real ones. Not the dried geckos he sticks in jars calling them 'fetuses' to cure fertility and virility problems(which geckos don't, but actual dragon fetuses might, if he had any). But although he's charismatic and eccentric, it's never been said you could charm a dragon onto a butcher's block, and being a gentleman, he can't bag one physically on his own. So, he enlists the mercenary services of your character(male or female) to help him hunt and kill dragons for his business.

• Good Ransom - comedy, modern, abuse, kidnapping, non-sexual

Two criminals looking to make a big break, come up with a plan to steal the wife/daughter of a rich and powerful man and hold her for ransom. In the process of holding her, they find out she's been abused by her husband/father and they feel bad about the idea of returning her if they get the money. However, the man she was taken from is extremely powerful and motivated and attempts to hunt them down and get his gal back.

• Too Familiar - fantasy/modern, witchcraft, fun-cute, comedy, animals

A witch's two familiars, a crow and a cat, who have never really gotten along. One day, the witch goes missing and the two go on a road trip to try to find their master.

• The Great Pond Quest - farm, animals, buddies, fluff-cute

Wilcox Farm raises dairy cows and sheep. Your character(male or female) and your brother are the first ducks the farm has had. You belong to the Wilcox boy, Randy, who hasn't ever looked after fowl. And being a silly 12 year old boy, it shows, the lad often forgetting to clean the pool and pen where the ducks are kept.

The brother duck has had enough of this neglectful treatment and constantly dreams of escaping the pen and finding a pond where you both can be free. When one day your character wakes up and your brother is missing, you of course assume he has escaped and gone to find his dream pond. So, you escape also and go to look for him. With the help of the lazy, smartass barn cat, Little Ninja(my character), your character goes on a grand adventure of self-discovery and growth.

• Rat Rider - fantasy, borrowers, fun-cute, comedy

Your character(male or female) is a miniature person who lives peacefully and comfortably in the house of a nice old couple of giants known as "human beans." You do just fine, occasionally borrowing small items from them when needed and the old couple don't even know you're there. One day, you encounter a spritely young man named Giblet, who rides around on the back of a tamed rat. He's not a "borrower" like you but a thief and with his wild and brash manner and his disdain for the big beans, you already know you're not going to get along. After you've urged him to pass on through, the old woman bean dies and the old man's family come to put his affairs in order. When they put him in a home and sell the house, suddenly, you have to deal with invasive human beans trying to ruin your life. You find Gib again, in the attic and ask for his help in keeping your home. With his wild spirit and contempt for beans, he's all too happy to help you wage this war.

(Think something similar to Mouse Hunt except mixed with The Borrowers)

• Hors d'oeuvre - fantasy, borrowers, fun-cute, comedy, insectoid-monster man

Your character(male or female) is a small tiny person, akin to a Borrower. They lived in a human bean house for a long time but once the children were grown, your character decides to take a new route and goes to live in a restaurant. There, they meet a beetle/roach(my character, depicted as a humanoid insectoid man) who teaches them the ropes of this new, exciting world of elegant high quality foods and fine dining.

(Think something similar to Ratatouille except mixed with The Borrowers)

• Kiss of the Moon - fandom alternate, fantasy, macabre, apocalyptic, waking up in Vegas

Stop me if you've heard this one before: a reluctant hero, a masked madman, the impending doom of a falling moon, and a magical item that turns back time but only 3 days before impact. Slow down there, cutie, this ain't your momma's dark and edgy entry into a favored Nintendo franchise.

So, the setting is Clocktown, a magical town with a myriad of different fantasy races, with human being the majority. It's like steampunk-magical fantasy Vegas...and it is doomed for destruction by the crash of the moon upon the surface of the planet. My guy, Joel, has lived through the doom already and somehow ended up unscathed, 3 days prior to impact with all of his memories intact. And he's the only one who seems to know what will happen. Having no way to escape the destruction but foreknowledge of all the winning hands for the casino games, Joel decides to live it up in this weird Groundhogs Day scenario, enjoying what time he has left.

You can either play his best friend, who goes along with Joel during these three days of gambling and high spending. Or you can play someone he meets at the beginning of the three days, taking your character along for the ride. What's worse, when at the end of the three days, Joel turns back time again, your character also is able to retain their memories of what happens. Your character can be either male or female.

Platonic Age Differences

For these plots, I am specifically looking for someone to play a character(male or female, doesn't matter) who is between the ages of 12-17 while my character will be a male who is 20+.

I know it seems odd but for a long time, I have wanted to explore a sweet, fluffy, comedic relationship dynamic between two very strictly platonic characters. I crave playing a Mentor type, and this comes in two versions: the strong, comforting male figure who guides your character, maybe occasionally feels unequipped to handle such a youthful character as an apprentice. Or the mentor who can't even take care of himself properly, who learns through stumbling trial and error and comedic/dramatic hijinks how to take care of and teach someone else how to become a respectable member of society.

I crave playing the Older Brother type who most of the time is not actually related to the younger character, but they have a sort of Wreck-It Ralph, sibling-esque dynamic. This also comes in a couple of types, such as the stubborn butting heads sibs, where my guy is a dominant asshole but your younger character doesn't take any of his crap, arguing and teasing him just as much as he does your character. There is the guy with the pulled heartstrings, who really shouldn't be looking after anyone young but your character is just so sweet and optimistic, it melts his heart and he can't bear to let your character go wandering on their own. After all, there are creeps out there and he wants to protect your character.

Even if you choose a character that is 16 or 17, there will not be any sexual relations between our characters.

• Neverbear - fantasy dystopia, adventure, monster, teddy bear

In a world where magic overlaps with technology, your character(male or female) is in possession of a secret artifact that an evil corporate psycho is looking to get his hands on. With the help of your smart-talking, enchanted teddy bear, Tony(my character), your character runs away and slips free of the clutches of those looking to take what you have sworn to protect.

(This can be workshopped to be a Harry Potter style mystery where your character brings Tony to their magic school)

• Fiends Are Forever - modern, witch, demon, familiar

Your character is a young witch(female or male) who is still living at home with parents and attending public school. Overeager, seeking to impress the local coven leaders, your character performs a spell to summon a familiar. Except by accident, your character pulls a "Rachel makes an English Trifle" error with two pages in the spell book stuck together. Accidentally, your character starts a summoning spell for a familiar and finishes a spell to summon a demon and what they end up with is Frye(my character), a hedonistic, blood thirsty, mischievous fiend. By the time your character realizes the mistake, Frye is already bound to them. And boy is he unhappy about that fact.

• Monster Tamer - fantasy, adventure, monster, gladiator, mercenaries, hot-cold

Tanner(my character) is a ne'er do well, charming asshole and a seasoned monster killer. In the glory days, he might have started out as a hero, but now, at 29, he never takes a contract without the promise of pay. With foul beasts and hideous monsters plaguing defenseless farming villages and homesteads, it seems a pretty shitty thing to charge money for. After monsters kill your character's(male or female) family, you decide to hound Tanner to take you journeying as an apprentice monster slayer. Except your character is (12-15) and he doesn't have time to babysit them. Besides, he's really not a good influence on kids anyway.

• The Lesson - wizard, apprentice, fantasy, Faust

My character is a 26 year old, adept wizard known throughout the world for being the youngest, most powerful master of the art of magic, he's renowned for being a bit of an asshole as well. The kind of cynic who's lost faith in humanity and only cares about one thing: more power. Your character(female or male) has a natural gift for magic but the book learning and private study method is taking too long. So, you find my wizard and ask him to teach you, which you eventually convince him to take you on as an apprentice.

• Black Heaven - pregnant, fantasy, travel

Your character is a 16 year old unmarried girl and she's 6 months pregnant. In the war-torn land, with raiders from the north battling over villages against Imperial soldiers from the south, tearing the countrymen apart, tensions are high enough without an out of wedlock birth in her community. Resentful and young, she flees her home to protect herself and her unborn child, getting found eventually by a morally bankrupt mercenary. Once it becomes clear that she has no one and nowhere to go, suddenly, he has a conscience and can't let her be on her own. Especially not with Imperial troops swarming the southern country.

Retail Gothic
  • A customer pleads to be let in after closing time. They only need one item. They only ever need one Item.
  • A customer is looking for an item. You do not sell the item. You have never sold the item. You do not know what the item is.
  • An item does not scan. “It must be free” the customer jokes. You look at them, their mouth hangs open as they laugh. They have too many teeth.
  • You ask your colleague how their day is going. They look back at you their eyes hollow and devoid of hope. You nod in understanding. No more is said.
  • A security barrier goes off. You look around but there is nobody there. There is just noise.
  • You say good morning to a customer. You hope it is still morning. You are no longer sure how time works.
  • Colleagues disappear as they move on to better things. You do not know where they go but sometimes you see them months later. Their eyes are bright and their smiles real. You know better than to question these things.
  • There is a man. He comes in every Wednesday. You have never seen him buy anything.
  • You see an actor from that happy show years before. They are looking at deodorant. They look sad.
  • You go to the stockroom to find an item. You look around but there is nothing. The system says you have thirty two. The system always say you have thirty two.
  • You walk through the warehouse. All you can see in every direction is Christmas trees. It is July.
  • They ask to speak to a manager. You look around- there are no managers. you cannot remember the last time you saw a manager. What does a manager look like?
