Monster Contract

By the time they were out onto the road, Kital had (mostly) gotten her giggles under control - though she still felt one coming on every time she looked over at where Jengu was tucked up on her master's shoulder, and had to keep quickly glancing away. It was fortunate that Jengu's master was the disturbing girl, Kira; Kital didn't look that way too often.

As Jarvan unleashed the tome's power, Kital darted forward to position herself between the Black Cats and her companions, her fins splayed out almost protectively and a confident smirk on face. "Oh, sisters, you definitely picked the wrong group to mess with," She called out. She didn't know a great deal about cats - there weren't many of them living in the water - but she had heard a few things, including that they generally weren't that fond of getting wet. As Morsel's Water Jet shot overhead, Kital sucked in a mouthful of air, took aim, and then fired her own [Water Jet] high over the cat's heads. She wasn't aiming for a direct hit; just to soak whichever of them was unlucky enough to be under her stream.

Orin began frantically to meow her apologies to her master for harming him with her claws as he set her down. "I didn't mean to hurt him, it just I instinctively use my claws on him. Please forgive me!" Orin cried to her lilim partner. Once the group began to move out it would be obvious to any that watched Orin walked that she wasn't stable. Her front legs moved normally, but her hind legs were wobbling due to her two tails. She couldn't wait to change her form.

When the dark orb whizzed pass them Orin lower her body down as her hair stood up. She hissed at the enemies feeling the magic of tome flow into her body. "Ready!" Orin nodded towards Kaya as she waited for her move. Once the Evil eye had been locked, Orin jumped at the eye slashing her claws at the feral lilim.

Rose(Kira) took the headphones and placed them around her neck as she then says, "For everyone's safety as well, don't look at me directly if you notice an aura surrounding me during combat, there is a chance you may become fearful or paralyzed." Her angry expression never changed as she spoke and follows the group as Kirsch explain things about the Imps she noticed he was quickly interrupted as an attack from some enemy Lilim started to attack the group hearing what the mercenary had to say about the Evil Eyes she opens her book to give power to her Lilim and says, "Time to go into action." Her body was then enveloped with the same aura as before, but this time instead of a flame like cloak it was more like a dark menacing aura as she then rushes towards one of the Evil Eyes her speed was much faster than a normal human as she reached her target in no time with a punch heading straight for her target with a more force than a normal punch as she was using both her enhanced speed and strength to reach her target quickly and deal some major damage using both her enhanced strength and the force from the speed put behind it. She then glances at her two Lilim and says, "Focus on the ones that may try to surround us."

Hasuno was following Fujiyori as she swam through the air keeping up as best she could as she says, "I wonder what other types of Lilim we will meet along our adventure?" She continues to follow her new master as she swims her way through the air a bit faster to catch up to Plumula and was about to ask Plumula something, but was quickly interrupted as a ball of energy flies past them. She then swims up a bit higher and notices some Evil Eyes, Black Cats, and some other Lilim as she says, "Ooh... Looks like things are starting to get interesting!" She makes a small giggle sound as she then glances around a bit as if she was looking or expecting something else to happen, but what she expects doesn't appear. She then frowns a bit glancing towards her mater and awaits his orders from him on what she should do, weather to hold off for now or join the fight.

Rose's shoulder pad tilted slightly, as Rose had picked up her Slime from the ground. Jengu had noticed some fright in her Lilim partner, while stalking around in the bushes, and one of her boney legs reached under Rose's neck, to stroke the squishy blob on the other shoulder.
"Don't worry, little Squishy. They're all just long bones and big talk, yes. Stick with Jengu, if afraid. Myra good at sticking, yes?" Jengu playfully suggested in her little clicks, while gently nudging Myra's sticky surface, before attaching back to Rose's dress.
With Rose getting her headphones, there was a low huff from the Skull, it's beady eyes looking towards the little Mandrake. "Noisy Vegetables. Flying Fishies. Clumsy Cats. Angy Snake-Foxes.. What has the world come to, Myra?" Jengu made a silent, muttered complaint as the group went ever onwards.

----------

With the blast flying past, Jengu tightened her hold on Rose for a second, beady eyes focusing as forward as they could, from atop her shoulder. Jengu knew her Mistress was brave, and aggressive, and predicted she would rush straight into battle herself, so got herself nice and tightly dug in.
"Hold on tight, little Squishy!" She warned Myra, before Rose did exactly as predicted, rushing straight into battle. Jengu was proud of her Mistress, and stuck to her until the first punch was sent. In doing so, Rose commanded her Lilim as well, Jengu immediately springing into action. She detached from Rose's shoulder, scrambling around her neck, above Myra.
"Come, Squishy! Jengu keeps Mistress safe if Myra keeps Jengu safe." She offered, letting Myra plop inside of her skull, if she so chose, before leaping off from Rose's shoulder.

Jengu went straight to work, trying to do as Rose commanded, opening her jaw to shoot out her [Web Binder] at the first Eye, trying to swirl around her Mistress. In doing so, she noticed the Slime nearby, some of her beady eyes narrowing, as she realized the Eye she had shot at, might very well have gotten in their path.
"Look, Myra, other little Squishies! They look friendly. But maybe Myra can make them run off, so Jengu not hit them accidentally?" Jengu suggested, ready to fire off more Webs, trying to tie down any Eye Bat's trying to circle her Mistress, or get at others at the group.

Fujiyori takes the headphones when offered, placing them around his neck, his hands going back into his pockets as they walk. Traversing the land he hears him begin to explain more about what they might encounter before a blast of energy shoots past him, it's enough to cause him to arc a brow. His hands, however, don't leave his pockets, instead, he watches the others for their reactions. He looks up towards the bird, then down to the fish as he gives his order. "Hold position, let the others handle this inconvenience. Best to save your strength for real opposition." He says in a rather bored manner, it was only a few pawns, his eyes scanning the area for more to see if any begin to circle them. He bends down, his right hand removing itself from his pocket as he grabs a stone from the path, roughly the size of a gold piece. He watches over the battle rolling it about in his hand, magic can be felt within his right hand by his Lilim, to the others unless they were standing directly next to him, the concentrated magic is nigh undetectable unless given proper attention. For the moment, unless actions are taken against him he flows arcane energy into the stone, symbols starting to form all around it as he imbues a spell within it, concentrating and condensing it. If he has to use it, he will but if not it can be made stronger for later use.

The small slime elongated itself slightly to get a good luck at her fellow Lilim riding on Rose's other shoulder as they used one of their bones to comfort Myra. The small blob appreciated the gesture, and bobbed up and down a bit. "Myra very good at sticking!" It responded, sounding vaguely like something bubbling along with a few small squeaks to non-Lilim. "Myra best sticky! Even stick to roof! Myra stick to Jengu no problem!"

Then, as Jengu began to complain to her about the other Lilim, the small slime tilted slightly sideways, looking around at the other Lilim. "Flying fishies sounds fishy, fishies not supposed to fly, they swim! Myra once caught fishy, was funny. Myra now have flower instead."

-----

Then, suddenly, a fight began! There were a few Lilim that seemed a bit aggressive, and the group of humans had decided it would be a good idea to attack! Fortunately, her fellow slimes that found themselves among the aggressive Lilim did not seem hostile, and were seemingly left out of the fight for now.

Myra's mistress then suddenly began to rush into battle, and the slime blob was told to hold on tightly by the Skull Spider. Of course she'd hold on tightly! She was good at holding! Then, her mistress gave her and Jengu the order to fight, and the skull spider moved over the slime blob, telling Myra to come.

The little slime wasted no time, and quickly plopped into Jengu's skull. "Okay! Myra good at protecting! Myra is good shield!" She responded excitedly as Jengu hopped off of Rose, beginning to attack. Soon after, the skull spider recommended that Myra try to get the other slimes to run off, and the small flower-wearing blob though that was a good idea! So, she left her friend's skull, and hopped over to the slimes.

"You girls should go! Big fight happening, don't want to get hurt!" She said, hopping up and down to get her fellow slimes' attention. "Leave and maybe come back later! Is safer than staying and getting hurt!"

"I don't know." Plumula answered Hasuno's question, doubtfully looking towards the other Lillim. "I do hope they're nice though. I hope that everybody is nice..."
As the fight began, the Yatogarasu squawked loudly, startled at the energy blast shot by. These weren't friendly!
"Interesting?!?! Hasuno, these are mad! They want to hurt us!"

A bit frightened, she readied her light attack, her beak momentarily shining before her master said they should let the others handle this.
Truth be told, Plumula was sceptical. If they didn't help, how could the others start to like them? Deciding to keep a middle ground, she did charge up a [Sun Burst] just in case. You never knew when you would need it, after all.
She was curious though what her master was doing though. Strange magic. Interesting.

@GrinningGentleman @Karasuhime

Jakki hadn't exactly tried taking the lead, but every once in a while she would check her map and compass, looking around as if expecting something miraculous to just fall from the sky. Though this seeming distractibility as well didn't seem to stop her from being able to react from the ensuing combat. She drew her crossbow quickly, waiting for the first move.

But then she glanced at her Lilum, and got quite the idea. "Everyone, earmuffs on!" she yelled over the din of combat, her own quickly situated. "Illy, you're on defense duty! Make sure nothing gets too close." she told her chaos hound as she grabbed Carrot and shoved her into the ground - though made no move to pull her up yet.

"Got it Jarvan!"

As the phantasmal chains emerging from Kaya's box-based body put the Evil Eye in place as it struggled, Orin struck it, and struck it good. Once the chains wore off, the Evil Eye was still dazed.

Morsel pushed the Black Cat back with her [Water Jet], causing it to be confused for a bit as it took some damage. Then, it, alongside a couple of other Black Cats that were within the path, were shot by another, this time from Kital, causing the first one to finally be knocked out.

With her agility, Rose was able to strike multiple Evil Eyes, causing them to fall close to the ground before recovering, allowing them to stand along the Black Cats, leaving them vulnerable to low-hanging attacks!

The Slimes began to scatter away. They were a bit slow, but they were pretty much out of range of the fight in no time.

"Take this!"

Kirsch rose a hand, creating a barrier-walled cube around three floating evil eyes, before his hand swiftly went down, alongside the barrier which crashed into some Black Cats that were ready to attack him.

"I could do that?"

Whatever he did, it seemed to be pure instinct.

"Trump card tiiiimmmppphhh!"

That was when Jakki prepared to unleash the trump card. The surrounding Lilim were still pretty plentiful, but Jakki had a solution. Most people would know exactly what was going on. Those who didn't would simply have to wait and see...

"Well everyone, put them on and send your Lilim back! Now!"

Kirsch put the earmuffs on, before unleashing his Tome. He allowed his Lilim to deal a few more blows before they transformed into energy and returned to the pages of his Tome, after which what seemed to be their illustrations appeared on there.

Watching the battle go on he rolls the rock in his hand, it seems like they weren't needed, as expected. "Well, you heard em." The man says to his Lilim, taking his hand from his pocket he opens the tome on his hip, calling both of them inside it. His hand going to his neck to flip the headphones onto his ears. Watching the display his eyes still dart around the battlefield just incase more came around or if the ma drake was unable to finish them. His hand still kneading magic into the stone, the markings getting deeper and more elaborate. No physical manifestation was seen of magic but he weaves the seal deep into it, layering spell after spell in the stone.

After hitting her first target Rose quickly went after the next few that were closest to her as she fought there were a few times she may have missed causing her to hit the ground which in turn caused the ground to crack and create small craters about the size of a basketball. After a bit of fighting she then hears one of the others calling out to put on their headphones and put their Lilim away as she gritted her teeth and said, "Alright you two, its time to return!" She dismisses them into the book as she closes it and then places her headphones on, after putting them on she then quickly rushed towards her next target not taking the time to stop fighting and using the opportunity to land blows even with the Mandrake going off and throwing as many punches and kicks as possible until the fight was over.

Hasuno hears what Plumula says as she tilts her head a bit and then says, "Really? It seems like they are busy right now, plus it looks like everyone else has things under control considering how many of there are compared to them." Even so, she knows things could always turn around for the enemy as anything could happen such as more showing up as backup or just a wondering lilim seeing the fight and randomly decides to join. She then hears her master telling them to not do anything, but watch as she nods and says, "Right..." Ever so often she would glance around away from the battle to see if she could recognize any of the Lilim out in the wild that weren't in the fight, but still couldn't find what she was looking for, then after a bit of fighting she hears one of the other humans calling out to the others as she hears her master saying it was time for her to go back, but before she could say anything she was then sucked into the book.

Jarvan Feran
Jovial Mercenary and Merc Captain

Seeing his comrades in action made Jarvan's smile shift into a grin, excitement running readily through his veins as he increased the momentum of his flail even further.
"Great job, you two! Keep up the good work!" He cheered at Kital and Morsel, a small sliver of pride in his stomach at the sight of their teamwork. Focussing, he increased the power of his right arm a bit more, putting even more force behind his weapon. This should be enough. The merc let out a low rumbling chuckle as he stepped forward. And right then, he saw the mandrake being pushed under, the words 'Everybody, earmuffs on!' reaching him loud and clear. Oh, shit was getting down. Delicious.

With his free hand, he took his book out. "Kital, Morsel, get a few more hits in and drive the flock together a bit more. Then time for a tactical retreat!" He waited until his two Lillim unleashed another attack, after which he [recalled them into the book] and put on his earmuffs.
"Alright... My turn." With a thundering battle-cry, he rushed forward, his flail finally spinning at an angle as all the momentum in it shifted, transforming the weapon into a devastating arc of steel that was heading straight for the group of Evil Eyes and Black Cats. His muscles rippled as he attacked, the man himself sinking into a stance that would allow him to attack somewhat continuously.
Jarvan would keep on his assault, trying to give the enemy no quarter to retaliate, his flail spinning, pounding and swinging. The mercenary didn't want to actively kill them, but these insolent Lillim would have a pretty damn severe headache afterwards at the very least when they would wake up.

Plumula
Timid Yatagarasu Lillim

Meanwhile, Plumula was still on guard, glancing at Hasuno. "It can never hurt to be a bit on guard." She mumbled through her readied attack. "Better to be prepared for the worst than not."
The bird frowned a bit when her master told her to hold her attack. Weren't they going to help? That was a bit odd. A well, nothing she could do really. Her master's wishes were her command, after all.
It did come as a surprise though when she was recalled into the book, Plumula looking rather shocked as she got recalled, the light of her attack simmering out.

When she heard Jarvan's shouted command, Kital's first instinct was not to do what he said. "Retreat?!" She repeated incredulously, cutting off her water jet so that she could voice her protests - even though she knew Jarvan wouldn't understand. She twisted in the air to look back at him, bobbing up and down in agitation. "But we're winning! Why would we..."

As she was speaking, from the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Jakki kneeling on the ground by the tuft of her carrot. The Matsuba stopped mid-bob, her mouth closing into a thin line.

"... yeah, ok, I get it," she mumbled, turning back towards the fight. Her cheeks puffed up again, and she fired another two quick [Water Jet] bursts off to one side of the Black Cats, cutting off that path of retreat. A moment later she felt the power of the tome take her, and she vanished in a crackle of energy back to within its pages.

Myra was happy to see her fellow slimes withdraw from the fight. She'd saved them! Now less slimes like her would get hurt! Now she just had to make sure her friend wouldn't get hurt! Hopping back over to Jengu, she suddenly heard the weird vegetable say something, which seemed to lead to the humans - including Rose - recalling their Lilim!

Putting two and two together in record tempo for a slime, Myra quickly understands why they should get back into the tome, and relays her reasoning to Jengu, as she was aware that her friend preferred being outside of the tome.

"Jengu! Jengu! We need to get back into tome!" She said. "Rose is calling us because the weird vegetable is going to make annoying loud vegetable noises, and those hurt! Come one!" The flower-wearing blob said, before letting herself be called back into the tome.

Illy had looked up to Carrot with a little hop, as she was invited to sit on the shoulder by the funny little Lilim.
"But then I can't bounce around as much... And I don't want to end up scratching Jakki. Shoulder does sound nice though. But then I can't..." The absentminded little Chaos Hound, with a horrible attention span, was promptly distracted by a poor, innocent insect, passing right by its nose, causing it to hop on its way once more, giving little yips as it chased whatever happened to come across in front of it, while still trying to stick close-ish to Jakki.

Even before the attack, Illy had started coming closer to her Contractor and Partner, ears lowered slightly, a low growl extending from her jowls. It could smell there was other beings around, and tried her best to be on guard, hoping the creatures she could smell weren't hostile.
Of course, they proved to be, and Illy immediately came up in front of Jakki, barking at the attacking Demons.
"Stay away! Don't come close!" She threatened, rather ineffectively at first, the Chaos Hound being quite small and unthreatening. With Jakki's command, however, Illy nodded a single time, and let out another bark. This time, it came out like a reverberating roar, like a fire being stoked with a barrel of gasoline, instead, completely contradicting the 'cute' little Hounds size. Even Illy seemed surprised for a second, as her Intimidating Roar weakened the closest bats. Illy's ears perked, as she hopped back to join Jakki's side, starting to dig at the ground around her Plant partner, making it easier for Jakki to get her in.
"I think I weakened them... Think. Not really sure what that was, but they looked scared! You handle rest! Good luck!" She chirped to her partner, looking over her shoulder to make sure none of the other Demon Lilim were getting closer, ready to hop into the Tome as soon as Jakki requested it.

Jengu shot another web at another Evil Eye, sending it to the ground, making it an easy target for any other's attacks. Her boney legs turned her around, looking towards Myra to see her progress. Jengu would smile, if such a thing was possible, to see the little Blob 'scare' off the other Slime, who rushed as fast as their little bodies could bounce them. Jengu felt a strange sense of pride, having helped protect other Lilim. She didn't know what was going on, to be entirely honest. Didn't know what they were doing here. She was just there to become more powerful, but to do so, she had no intention of hurting her partner's sisters. How could she? It would be like hurting Myra. She could never hurt Myra... Scare, maybe, but only for fun!

Hearing what was going on, and Rose's command, Jengu's many legs lowered her slightly, as a low hiss escaped from her.
"Oowh... Jengu not want to. Jengu not like the Tome." She whimpered slightly, before quickly spinning around when she heard Myra calling out. She rose slightly to her legs again, bobbing a bit up a down to mimic her adorable partners' movements. Jengu huffed softly with Myra's eagerness, raising herself to get ready to return.
"How? How Myra make everything sound exciting?" She mused, puffing softly with a clicking that might seem like chuckling, ready to be returned to the Tome.

"Good going Miss Orin!" She clicked in a positive way. Her partner was a klutz and prone to sitting in her, pesky hairs messing up her partitions, but she was pleasant enough and good when it counted. Her master's new trick was inspired even if it did seem accidental, but it felt like a congratulatory wooden golf clap was in order. And then she began being yanked into the tome "Oh bother" She said. The tome... was not nice, it was not bad either, it was just an awkward neutral. Like being in stasis on a room just big enough for you. The ink was colored magically as her essence was sealed in.

Morsel winced at the thought of going into the tome. She’d never met a Lilim who liked being sealed and she was no exception. Still, she focused on the battle in front of them and sprayed another [Water Jet], this time behind the enemy Lilim, trying to ensure none of them drifted too far from where the mandrake was going to be uprooted.
She clawed into Jarvan’s shoulder as she felt the tome pulling at her, giving an anxious bark before blending into the page as a stoic portrait.

"Thanks for help sis!" It's was always nice to be praised by Kaya and Kirsh. She turned her towards her Master giving him a happy meow. Orin then lowers her body as a dark purple aura began to surround her body. She suddenly dashes towards the enemies as if she about ram into before suddenly she made a sharp turn moving to the next Lilim. This was [Pathcrosser] something thought may help the overgrown carrot get all those unlucky targets. After crossing the last Lilim's path Orin came dash towards Kirsh jumping to get back into his arms as meowed happily. That was her plan, but once she came close to him Orin sucked up into the tome give more meow calling for her master.

Jakki was kneeling, one hand on Carrot's top while the other held her tome. Her own earmuffs were on by this point, her eyes watching as each of her new compatriots donned theirs and recalled their Lilum. She didn't know about them, but she was planning on letting Illy out soon after the scream subsided. That said, it was just about time.

"Illy, come on back!" Jakki called to her chaos hound, who had done a great job playing defense for the party. Once Illy was safe in the tome, Jakki closed it and gripped just a bit tighter on Carrot's top. "Here we go." she hissed under her breath before pulling Carrot back up out of the ground...

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

As Jakki pulled Carrot out, she unleashed a powerful scream that devastated all. There were still remaining Lilim that mustered the last of their energy to strike the group, but Carrot's [Bloody Shriek] very easily sucked the very last bits of their remaining energy out of their bodies.

Thanks to earmuffs, the group was spared.

As Kirsch took his earmuffs off, he declared, "well, that was the last of them. Let's keep moving."

Carrot, shaking her head, jumped onto Jakki's shoulder.

"I've never actually seen a Mandrake being pulled from the ground like that before, let alone up-close, Jakki," Kirsch compliments, "how many times have you done that before?"

~~~~~
As Kirsch sent his Lilim back out, the group was finally walking through the Alp Alps. There were Pawn-stage Lilim around, but they seemed a lot more docile as they fluttered and strolled, that according to some, tends to be the case when stronger Lilim were nearby to either suppress them through a hierarchy or protect them, the former keeping their strength in check and the latter making most of their strength needless. This was the case even if the ones doing so were as du- I mean, less intelligent as the Imps and Goblins.
haHsYC7.png
"Humans around these areas? Where do you ladies and gentlemen come from, anyways?" A blonde, grinning Imp leaned on a tree, then started following the group when they walked past her. "You all here to have fun or something? I mean, that's all we do here."
After the fight was over Rose took a breath and then looked around at everyone else as she was a bit impressed at their skills and combat styles as she then thinks for a moment on what sort of things they will face later on and what her Lilim will transform into when they do. She then remembers to bring back her Lilim as she pulls the book out and releases both of them back out of the book as she also takes the earmuffs off. As she notices the group starting to make their way to continue their adventure Rose decides to go ahead and follow them as she says, "Let's go you." As they walk with the group Rose notices the Lilim who started to talk with them as she just completely ignores the Lilim and continues on her way with the group to their destination as she glances over towards Kirsch and asks, "Hey, how many days would you say it would take us to reach our destination?" She was mostly digging for information so she can prepare better to determine weather they would be having to camp outside or if they will be there sooner than she thinks.
With Jarvan going in swinging, the might of his companions and the scream of the mandrake, the enemy was soon routed. Their path was open and they were not free to continue into the Alps.
Grinning, the merc stowed away his flail, wiping some sweat of his brow with one hand while he got his Tome with the other. Shouldn't let his buddies go cooped up for too long, after all.
Summoning his Lillim out of the Tome, he removed his earmuffs, nodding contently when he saw the havoc they wreaked.
"Well done, ladies and gents. Good show indeed. And good idea, chief!" Sniggering, the merc followed Kirsch, eager to get going again. This was quite the interesting trip, after all.
As he walked, he made sure to compliment Morsel and Kital on a job well done. "You two did amazing back there. Nice aim, nice tactics. Keep up the good work!"
Scratching Morsel underneath the chin and softly tickling Kital's belly, he sighed deeply, rolling his shoulders. This had been quite the nice warm-up. He didn't hope that they'd find more trouble while they travelled, but a little bit of exercise and adrenaline like this wasn't too unwelcome.
----------------------------------------------------------
As they made their way through the Alps, Jarvan did notice that the Pawn Lillim they came across acted quite docile. Keeping up his guard, he was nonetheless taken aback by the Imp leaning on a tree, the blasted creature actually walking up with them.
"Yes, humans." He said curtly, the fact that it was an Imp making some rough memories resurface. "Just travelling through, from town to town. Nothing fun about it, I'm afraid. Very boring, very uninteresting, very harmless."
He kept an eye on Kital and Morsel, wanting to make sure they didn't either wander off too far or provoke their temporary (and to him quite unwelcome) companion.
"Keep your wits about you, you two." He whispered, clearly on edge. A Rook Lillim would prove to be a hasle. They'd be alright with such a big group against one Imp, but who knew how many were hiding nearby...
When Morsel emerged from the tome, she wrapped herself around Jarvan’s neck loosely and nuzzled against him. She had gotten more used to the tome, but being in it still made her uncomfortable. She accepted his chin scritch gratefully, as she took in the view around them. Looked like all the enemy Lilim has been finished off.
She stretched out on his shoulders, giving a little shake, before settling back into her lookout post. She snuffled at her friend, Kital, checking for where she was and that she was okay. When she caught sight of the matsuba she flicked her tongue and gave her a slow blink.
——————————————————————
Morsel’s ears moved like little satellites as they walked through the woods. She hadn’t wandered into many forests before, they were fascinating and humbling. There was a lot of noise as the animals and Lilim milled about. She kept a careful eye on any that wandered a little too close. The hair on her spine stood up as she caught sight of the imp and her ears flattened against her skull as the imp followed them. She wrapped her tail around Jarvan’s arm to anchor herself and stood at attention, her claws supporting her. She didn’t like that her master’s back was to this creature. She didn’t trust this at all.
Fujoyori watches as the enemy is dispatched, slipping his earmuffs to rest around his neck once more, the stone still turned in his hand but this time in his pocket, the seal kept as an open-ended circuit to allow magic to flow into it so he can keep making his project stronger during their travels, wondering if he'll have to use his trump card. As for his Lilim, he keeps them within the book, they would soon be in enemy territory and he'd rather the enemy not know their full strength or have his Lilim start an unneeded fight, worrying about everyone else's Lilim was enough for him.
They make their way through the Alp Alps, his gaze going to the many Lilim around him, thankfully his tome gave him more than enough protection about their powers, even if something bad were to befall him, at least he wouldn't be turned. He, however, hears one talk to the group. Either a paw learned their language or it was at minimum a rook, something they really didn't want to be messing with unless they had to. Then however Jarvan starts to respond to it, Fujiyoyi staying quiet, one hand on his project and one resting on his tome, ready to call them forth if needed. He wants to get this over with, this clearly wasn't the leader so he wasn't sure how it would act without commands, clearly having thought processes unlike more mindless Lilim.
Kital popped back out of the tome with a confident smirk on her fishy face, tensed up and ready to keep fighting. Her eyes quickly scanned the battlefield, looking for a target... and she slowly deflated as she realised that there wasn't one. The mandrake had finished things off quite handily in her brief absence. The matsuba let out a disappointed sigh, and accepted Jarvan's compliments (and tickling) with a small wriggle of her body. Her eyes briefly met Morsel's for a moment, and the matsuba nodded to let her friend know all was well.
And then they were off again, marching their way into the Alps...
---
"Who's boring?" Kital called out her objection almost immediately upon hearing her master's words, her voice taking on an offended tone. She'd slowly drifted away from Jarvan and Morsel again as they traveled; never getting out of sight or leaving the group, but travelling ahead just a little to get a closer look at an interesting tree, a passing Lilim, or sometimes just one of their companions. Now, however, she was slowly floating back towards them so that she could better hear their new hanger-on. "He doesn't speak for me, you know! I'm actually quite interesting!"
The matsuba wasn't (just) being contrary and smug for the sake of it. She hadn't missed Jarvan's tense, whispered command, or Morsel's state of alertness. However, she also knew first-hand exactly how much mischief a bored Lilim could get up to. So long as they were busy talking, she figured, the Imp wouldn't be busy causing them trouble.
"I'm Kital," She introduced herself. She was still swimming forward with the rest of the group - swimming backwards wasn't exactly easy, even through air - so she needed to twist her head to look back at the Imp. "You're an Imp, right? I've never met one of your kind before."
