Sweat dripped to the ground from her brow dark, dripping from her pale chin onto the shade cool dirt. Her breath came in small pants from plump pink lips, pants she wished she could calm. Not for her sake, but for the little girl in her arms. The 23 year old was terrified that she wouldn't be able to protect her. She'd managed to save the child from being infected by the gruesome creatures that once lived and breathed with a beat in their hearts. But... She didn't know how much longer she could keep her safe. Sleeping then, she could only prey they'd make it through the night without any more encounters as they hid inside the little shack. Closing her own dark blue eyes, she let her curly black hair fall over her face as she herself tried to find some rest.
They didn't make it...

Another house ruined, she couldn't help but think, only wishing it had been destroyed by the same people as it had been the time before that, and the time before that. But no... It was the Covenant, and, somehow, soon following after, the Flood had made their way onto the planet. Reana, herself, sat atop a branch in a park that had already been cleaned by both threats for that day, eating a bar of candy she'd been able to scavenge. Yeah, no one could do anything permanent to her, but that didn't mean it wouldn't hurt like hell. Holding the hand held she'd never bothered to learn the name of in her lap, she was about to finish her lunch and go hunting when something grabbed hold of her dangling leg. IDIOT, KEEP COUNT OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, she chided herself, blanching as she saw what had a hold of her. What the fuck was a Brute doing out in the middle of fucking nowhere??? Oh, she thought, seeing the world upside down. It seemed that a whole fucking lot of Covenant bastards had decided to come to the spot, and not to settle down and make camp. Shit, she knew exactly what kind of crowd that would draw. Military and of course, Flood. Even knowing it would hurt, she let the brute slam her into a tree, shattering her rib cage. She even screamed to let it think she was afraid. And then, she let everything go to black.

Blury eyed, she opened her eyes, so much fighting... Did anyone even remember what the damned war started over? She hissed, feeling something grab onto her leg but not pull, she knew that exactly what she'd thought would happen would: The military and the Flood both had been attracted. "Shit," she cursed under her breath before shooting an infected soldier in the head after pulling a weapon she'd had tucked in the back of her pants. She really needed to learn the name of the damned guns, she decided. What would she do if she needed something bigger? Say "the big one"? No... "Damn it," she cursed, shooting another infected while dodging a Covenant Elite. "I hate studying," she finished, shooting the brain stem of another infected before it could attack a grunt. Yes, humans good, Covenant bad, but she knew that what was worse, was Flood. Knowing she was being idealistic, she thought the humans and the Covenant should have joined forces against them already. "AH! GOD DAMN IT," she hissed as another little bugger squirmed it's way into her body. She didn't worry like anyone else would have, after all, she'd been infected for a year, and still was walking, talking and not looking like a failure of Frankenstein. "FUCK," she dodged a round of bullets from a machine gun, cursing every single one of the things, she knew what that soldier thought when he fired at her. She glared at him for a brief moment before going back and killing anything that even looked like it shouldn't have been alive, dodging both human and Covenant blows.
