He felt even worse knowing that this would be putting her through guilt as well. Why had he been so weak? He'd just gotten her back after so many years, and now he'd done something so unthinkable that it was sure to drive her away. That thought hurt him deep, and he had to speak to keep from tearing up. "You're right, we can't just pretend it never happened. And Princess," he used her old nickname with difficulty, it was very bittersweet in his mouth at the moment, "I know myself well enough to know that I'd want it to happen again. I think as long as we live together, I'll be a danger to you in that way. Maybe I should get you an apartment, or hotel room..." He could barely get the words out they hurt so badly. He hoped with all his being that she'd tell him that was out of the question. That she was going to stay and that she still loved him, but it seemed to be a hopeless situation to him. He wanted her with him, but so did his body, in a completely wrong way. And he was too weak to do what he should for her. It was amazing how quickly he had gone from overjoyed to bitter anguish once the lust had worn off.
