Royal Blood (JamieXButterfly)

Calista gazed up at him with a sadness in her eyes. The last few days had been hell. Utter, total hell. It was amazing to her though that he, the son of her enemy, was being to kind to her and helping her. Shouldn't he be on his father's side?

"How can you be his son?" she asked softly, as he raised her hand up to touch his hand upon her cheek. "Unlike him, you have a heart."

Crowe felt his heart begin to hammer in his chest as she looked up to him with sadness filled eyes, and raised her hand to his own. He wished to, in all honesty, just hold her for a while, tell her everything would be alright kis- No. That was the last thing she needed right now... He smiled softly down to her, his hand leaving her cheek for a moment, both hands now wrapping around her hand. He brought it down before them, warm hands squeezing hers.

"I'm not only his son, Calista, I'm also my mother's, and she was the one to raise me, not him... Though that also means I don't really know how to use a sword, which means we're waiting out here for a few days, alright?" he asked, smile becoming gentle and warm after his pale stab at humor. "You nearly died in there, and as long as we lay low, we shall be alright," he continued, squeezing her hand once more. "I promise."

She gave him a skeptical look, "I feel fine." It was a lie, but the thought of being anywhere where Reynard could get at her frightened her something awful. "Must we remain here? Wouldn't it be safer to return to civilization? With other people?"

Calista moved in and attempt to convince him, but only fell again as her knees gave out. She groaned in frustration a moment and then she went silent... "How did this happen?" she asked quietly. More of a rhetorical thing than a true question.

Crowe looked down to her with a weak smile. "You are weak right now, and prone to infection. We would cover very, very little ground if we moved right now. If you got injured while we're out here right now, even a scratch, you could potentially die... Just strengthen yourself. If in two days you are ready to travel, we shall... And we should be in civilization within two or three days after that. "That said, we will move tomorrow and find a place we can hide more easily. And... I can not honestly answer that, Calista," he said softly.

Clearly, rhetoric was lost on him.

He thought to himself for several moments.. "My father is a sick man, and with your beauty... any man would want you," he said with his cheeks darkening a bit. "But believe me, I am not defending his actions. He will pay for them in due time," he said, still royally pissed at his bastard father.
