Kei is an orphan raised by the shrine, her parents killed in a car accident when she was 9 years old. Though she's never really felt the spiritual calling of her compatriots, Kei does strive to live by the code - protecting those who can't protect themselves, standing up to bullies and generally being a nice, civilized young lady. While grateful for being taken in, Kei doesn't really feel like she fits in at the shrine and is looking forward to securing a swimming scholarship so that she can afford to turn that page in her life.
A fan of video games, Kei attended the Oseigi Summer Showdown in order to learn the moves for one of the hardest songs in 'So You Think You Can Busta Move? III', by watching the original performer, Akiko Amagi. However, a impolite and raucous crowd made things difficult for Akiko, and a prankster threw a set of bikini brief underwear on to the stage, shouting lewd remarks, upsetting the musician and ending the performance early. When making her way backstage to try to get a chance to ask Akiko about the most difficult sequence in the dance routine, Kei spotted the prankster with a bunch of groupies of the rival pop sensation, Igara. Her code would not let her remain quiet in the face of such sabotage, and she called the guy out. The discussion soured quickly and Kei ended up calling Igara's music barbaric trash with no melody or musical aptitude, which resulted in a fight with the groupies. Despite being outnumbered, Kei held her own until Security broke the fight up.

All citizens of Oseigi Falls are equal ... but some are more equal than others. And unquestionably the most equal person in Oseigi Falls is Nakina Sokoru. Little did she know 22 years ago when she, Haruki Faru and Mei Utame got together to assemble the 'bitchingest fragbox of all time' what it would eventually lead to. Ah, but there was this newfangled Internet thing, and there were lots and lots of people on it willing to pay for an unfair advantage in games. Especially when Nakina was the one selling it.

But as bleeding edge as Haruki's hardware was, the woman had no head for business or really much of an attention span, and Mei was so wrapped up in improving the AI algorithms that she couldn't focus on the physical 'meatworld'. So Nakina set up an informal assembly line among some of her admirers and started shipping units. Demand grew, especially when they released their Pulsemaster 9001 Heads Up Display with Adaptive Aim Assist. Or the MMO Raid Leader Pro - Elite Edition. Or the Cheatrover Personal Wireless Internet Wristband.

While Haruki and Mei went off to university, Nakina didn't bother with such trivialities. There was money to be made. And no one - no one - can put tech in a straight man's hand more easily than Nakina Sokoru. And there's a lotta guys on the Internet. A consumate saleswoman, soon she was buying up products from fringy inventors and turning them into steady streams of lucre. And who knew gaming could so easily adapt to weapons design? And vehicular control? Corporations, governments, research projects. Everyone wants her goods. And everyone's gonna get them. Assuming they've got the yen, or dollars, or euros for it.

Since her first appearance on Forbes Billionaire's List 5 years ago, things have hardly slowed down. Contributing to the world's first hypercollider? No problem. Developing the three 'Axis of Pain' weapons systems for the US military to use in Afghanistan? Piece of cake. Assisting the Japanese space program? Sure! And now there are rumors that Lady Sokoru is up to something new, whispers of a "Project Orion".

Like many of her classmates, Nakina is a 'victim' of the Klimaka High Cosmetics Anomaly of '99 and ages at a reduced rate.

Jeremiah Storm, originally from California, is the son of the C list celebrity Alexander Storm, an actor who played the token 'hot, but bad for you' boyfriend who gets dumped in several different movies and TV shows. His best-known role was a bit of a departure, playing the 'hot guy who is way better in all respects the heroine lands after breaking up with the bad-for-you-boyfriend' named Dak Kono, the flashy rebel ace, in a Star Wars spin-off movie last year. Jeremiah's mom is a theoretical high-energy physicist who worked on a research team doing singularites and gravimetric constraining thresholds in fractal dimensions, or something quantum like that.

Jeremiah has picked up some of the habits of the Hollywood crowd and is a bit of a lush, though he knows the importance of a good workout the next day. Two years ago, Jeremiah filmed a season of the teenage action series 'Z team' as the daredevlish heartthrob thief-with-a-heart-of-gold Taz Markham. However, a traumatic experience with a stunt gone wrong ended a budding acting career early in the second season. After some time in recovery - and now with this new move to a foreign land - Jeremiah's old way of life no longer seems to apply, and he'll have to find something new to occupy himself.
Alexander Storm is taking a bit of a break from movie-making to prevent oversaturating the market now that Dak Kono toys are on every shelf. Jeremiah's mom is just starting at S.H.E.-Oseigi on some nerdy project. They've been rushing to get moved over in time for school to start, arriving in town just last week. Jeremiah's not thrilled about the displacement. Everything is so weird here!

Ms Mei Utame is the principal of Jinaagi Academy. She is an Oseigi native, having graduated the old decrepit Klimaka High over 20 years ago, where she was a cheerleader. After a few years as a computer science teacher (and spirit sponsor) in the city, she was approached by her old schoolmate, Nakina Sokoru, and asked to help open a facility for technical education in the sleepy town. With funding from a few zaibatsu and corporations, including Sky Helix, Jinaagi Academy soon opened.

Ms Utame has had two husbands over the intervening years, but both relationships have ended in divorce, though at least her last left her with a decent chunk of cash. Ms Utame is professional but enthusiastic. Not much of a disciplinarian, she leaves a lot of those matters to Ms Ibeloki, who can be far more stern.

Coach Mokwon has been at Jinaagi for about four years now, having been brought in to develop a sports program. A classic jock, he doesn't really fit in well with the cerebral staff, but sticks around for some reason anyhow. Few people seem to know if Mokwon is his first or last name. Most people just call him "Coach", even in town.

Some have suggested the coach is a little flexible when it comes to the concept of 'fair play', an opinion people are wise not to mention when in Coach Mokwon's proximity.

Ms Gisi Ibeloki has taught Life Science and Chemistry at Jinaagi Academy for the past five years, where she is a sort of unofficial assistant principal. Her detention is feared and she has a way of commanding a room with a sharp voice. Or for that matter with any voice, because Ms Ibeloki is one of the several stunningly beautiful women living in Oseigi Falls. What's more, with the Academy's Board of directors authorizing a supplemental magical curriculum, she has developed a new class for this term covering Glamours and Mystique.

Ms Ibeloki's records indicate she has a degree in education from the University of Hokkaido.

Mr Kyagama is the advanced math and science teacher at Jinaagi Academy. He worked in the research department of S.H.E. for a while before leaving to take the job at the school, where he feels he can conduct experiments with less direction and oversight from managers, while still having access to a well-funded laboratory. A bit of a savant, Yo is nevertheless patient with the academy students.

His experimental science and practical chaos classes involve some pretty strange theories and principles that seem to blur the lines between science and magic.

Blessed Veika Linito (Blessed is an honorific for full shrine maidens, like Ms or Mr) is on loan to Jinaagi Academy from the local Shrine, devoted to the principles of judgement, revelation and healing - a legacy from an old mountain clan shrine that taught the arts of sacred battle to drive off evil. This is the first term the academy has offered the more eclectic courses Bls Veika teaches. While 'Ethics and Morality' might be found in traditional schools and 'Spiritual Communion' might be found in a handful of Shinto centers of learning, 'Introduction to Aetheral Manipulation' is a full-on course in outright magic.

Veika has always been a bit of an odd duck at the local shrine. It's members considered themselves athletes and protectors. There was some caregiving, to be sure, but that was always an ancillary duty. Many of the younger ladies in the temple would roll their eyes when discussing other shrines, devoted to the earth or fertility or hospitality, shrines in which the maidens all were endowed in a certain fashion consistent with their devotions. But then Veika began to develop, and develop, and develop. She is very self-concious of her breasts, and the teasing of her peers caused her to spend more than the usual time attending to the ancient library on the shrine grounds. Much to her surprise, she found herself able to grasp the strange concepts found within the old tomes.

Ms Suegi Olemko is new with the Academy this year, where she teaches Literature, Drama, Music and Dance. She is a passionate, excitable individual who often seems younger than she really is. She came to the Academy from Tokyo after the Hanafuka Delusion Incident resulted in the closure of her previous school (and after spending some time in therapy).

Nevertheless, Ms. Olemko has put those troubles behind her and is ready to open the minds of a new group of students to the power of drama and music. Goat demons (with their evil little hooves!) need not apply.

As a junior executive with Sky Helix Corporation, Mr Takahiro is working to establish good relations with the Oseigi Falls community. Thus he has offered to teach business administration classes to help prepare academy students for the real world, something that - given Sky Helix's contributions and position on the academy board - the school is all too happy to accept.

Mr Takahiro's resume includes overseeing biological research into different species of coffees, teas and spices for the Flavor Enhancement division of Sky Helix R&D. He is a calm and measured individual who takes others seriously without being too dour.

The Twisted Serpents are Jinaagi’s bad boys. Ouni Prefecture police are looking at them in a series of smash and grabs in the big city, but haven’t yet been able to find anyone willing to testify. While they are rough and undisciplined, they generally do just enough to avoid drawing too much attention. Many of the staff seemed cowed by them, except for the Coach and Ms Ibeloki.

Hanako is the spawn of local Playboy Tohru Tanaka and Haruki Tanaka, the local oddball girl. She made him settle down, and he made her focus. Dad had a fling with just about any girl that would take him in his younger days, but Sokoru got too clingy and Haruki was practically his rescuer in that regard. While mother was laser focused on technology, Hanako was similarly focused on the approval of her dad and brother, so she learned to do boyish stuff like Wrasslin', and not cryin' when you fall down too much. She'd originally succeeded at getting put on the wrestling team at school because the other kid wouldn't quit looking at her tits. She won, so the coach let her on the team.
Ten years ago, the town was dying, but lately, the Sokoru money has been really useful. Haruki's always had techy jobs, but she's never really stuck to one. And after over 15 years of marriage, they kind of need something stable so Tohru took the Manager position at the S.H.E. Factory. Things have gotten hard though, so Chenji's also got a Chauffeur business on the side, supplemented by Asaga's mechanic shop Crank It Mechanics, which Hanako always wants to butcher purposefully. Hanako's taken to caution signs since she had to paint them around the place so much to stay within JISHA regulations, so she's been carrying a can of yellow and a can of black spray paint. The school's athletic department has been threatening to remove Hanako from the team because her grades aren't so great right now.

Akiko is a young woman with some slightly unusual heritage. Her mother is foreign and from Sweden, and it is from her mother that she inherited much of her appearance, this accounting for her blonde hair and blue eyes. She’s always loved to sing and dance, and about 4 years ago she managed to become a sensation when she performed on stage, sparking an idol career that she loves. She enjoys her work, loves her fans, and tries to be a positive and uplifting influence through her music.

Akiko has long enjoyed her work as an idol and has also long fantasized about one day meeting the right person for her, hoping to find that special someone. And now, the young idol believes she has found her. The Oseigi Summer Showdown was a disaster, disruptive hecklers who she later found out were working in league with her rival Igara interrupted her act and sabotaged her performance.

The one bright spot in that otherwise awful day was meeting Kei Sujohai. The young woman engaged and fought the hecklers, defending Akiko’s music and to Akiko seeming quite like a fairy tale knight from stories. After her defense Akiko met with the other girl and the two began to form the bonds of friendship. Though Akiko is certain they are fated for more than that, and now that she has found her soul mate will protect the relationship at all costs!

She also holds a grudge against Igara. She had originally tried to be civil and friendly to the other idol but the sabotage and mocking that has resulted has left her vindictive towards the bitchy rapper.

Cecilia is a young woman who does not hail from the area in the slightest. She was born and raised in her native country of France and is well educated in classical traditions. She was somewhat eager to escape her home town however due to the legacy of a number of unfortunate accidents that had occurred involving her in her youth and with some of her early experiments.

A job offering that gave her an opportunity for a new start, a good salary, and even a chance to teach the alchemical arts she had studied and learned largely on her own was definitely one she leaped to take.

Astrid Amagi was born in Sweden, and ultimately came to the area as a high school exchange student. While she hadn't really expected to like it, she was surprised to discover that this small resort town had something in it she did care about. She met her future husband Ichiro Amagi while attending high school and knew almost immediately that this was the one for her.

She was quite possessive and protective, traits that her husband ultimately found endearing, and if perhaps someone who had previously been interested in him before her arrival had gone missing that year, well no one ever solved the disappearance. The two got together like clockwork and subsequently spent the duration of highschool dating before marrying.

In the years since, Astrid has seemed to mellow quite a bit. Most of her old high school colleagues agree that motherhood has been very good for her. She now devotes the vast majority of her efforts towards raising and caring for her two daughters, Akiko and Kimiko. Everyone knows that she thinks the world of them. Though few understand the true depths to which she will go for her family...

--- Background and RP ---
Hikaru Kojima was born to only child to her parents, heir to the industrial juggernaut Kojima Industries, a major government weapons contractor and vehicle manufacturer. Unfortunately Hikaru never knew her mother, as complications during her birth resulting in the death of her mother when she was mere hours old. Hikaru was quite close to her father until four years ago when a fluke accident claimed his life as well. At least it was supposedly a freak accident, but Hikaru thinks it is highly suspicious that his car would have failed that way, especially with how meticulous he was about maintaining it.

Following the death of her father Hikaru was largely raised by the serving staff associated with her family. She however also ended up attracting attention from and recieving aid from one of her father's colleagues. The lady Nakina Sokoru for reasons perhaps only known to her decided to take the young girl under her wing and help to groom her to take over the company that she had inherited as a result of her father's untimely demise.
In the last two years Hikaru has been slowly stepping up the amount of control she has over her company and enterprises. She has received help and guidance from her mentor and very much wants to please her and fulfill expectations. Hikaru also actively pursued the goal of becoming Student Council President for the academy and following her election the previous year has maintained her grip on the position. The use of exorbitant amounts of money and hiring a real campaign staff managed to secure the position for her. She is quite proud of her role and takes it very seriously!
