A lonely traveler made his way through the thick brush of a forest. He was on his way to the town that was supposedly at the other side of the forest, but at the rate he was going, it felt like there was no end to the forest. He had been warn the several tribes of feral natives lived here, but never got any more information on any one kind of native tribe.

The man was concealed greatly by a green traveling robe that covered his body as well as a hood to cover his head. It was shaded to match with a forest setting, thus providing cover if he need to hide from the local wildlife. A sword occasionally shimmered, revealing itself in the rays of light that shined off it. It was kept at his wait so it would be easy to draw. A bow and quiver were the only things not covered by the robe he wore, as they laid strapped to his back.

He stopped underneath a large oak tree to pull out a canteen and drink from it. He had been traveling for a while now, and wondered how many days he would b in this forest for. The path seem to lead traveler's on a tour of the forest, rather then taking them straight through it, which annoyed him to some extent.

A curious pair of orange eyes watching the stranger from the tree-tops, a long tail swaying to and fro as the huntress observed him. She hadn't seen many travellers come through these parts, the path wasn't very well used as most seemed to prefer skirting the whole forest instead of going through it.

Clutching a rough knife in one hand, Avanai tilted her head and carefully moved down along the trunk of the tree, using her claws and feline grace to silently prowl back down to the undergrowth. She had meant to be hunting but this was such a rare occurence for her to come across that it had her distracted. Who was this stranger? Were they lost? Did they mean harm to her or her tribe?

The questions in her mind simply had to be answered and so, she watched with curiousity, trying to edge a little closer and freezing as her foot stepped on a twig, making it snap.

As the traveler continued on, he froze at the sound a a twig snapping. In a split second the bow had gone from his back and into his hands, an arrow aleady knocked into place on the bow. It was pointed precisely where he had heard the sound come from. In that spot he saw what appeared to be a humanoid cat. Fur covered it's whole body and was barely clothed. A knife was clutched in her hand, which gave him the hint that she might have been trying to kill him silently without alerting him.

He stared into the feline's eyes, slowly backing away from it while keeping his aim pointed at her forehead. He said nothing, only preoceeded to step back ever so slowly, waiting to see if the Feline would flee or continue it's job.

She froze as he reacted, not moving an inch as he aimed an arrow directly at her forehead. She uttered a silent curse for alerting him but didn't move, didn't so much as edge away. Her eyes gazed back at him curiously but she could see he wasn't going to take his aim from her unless she moved away.

She turned the blade in her hand so that it pointed back towards herself, making a less aggresive impression before slowly straightening up, revealing herself in the light. She was a lithe, slender female, bright eyes looking him over curiously at this closer range. Her fur was glossy and black, not unlike a pather, which would have hidden her very well in the shadows had she not attempted to crawl towards a sunnier area. It covered her body, from the ears on the top of her head to the tip of her long tail. Her chest and hips were clothed only in some skins, most likely from deer hunted in the forest, another small band of material keeping a mane of hair from her feline face.

But she stood relaxed, trying to be as non-threatening as possible.

He still kept his bow aimed at her, watching her movements carefully. When she drew back her weapon, he felt as if she posed no threat. He lowered his aim slowly, but kept a firm grip on the bow. He backed up a few more spaces before turning and heading off in the opposite direction of her, half expecting her to follow. He never put his bow away.

She watched him go, tilting her head curiously before turning and leaping back up into a tree and following him from there. Curious stranger...

He continued on his way, looking back occasionally to see if she or anyone else was following. He didn't see her following him until he heard another noise and looked up, catching her while she attempted to leap to another branch. "Are you following me?" He called out, wondering if she could understand his words or not.

She looked down at him and twitched her tail, as if thinking of her answer. "Maybe." She replied with a smile and a purr, showing off her sharp white teeth. "Or I could just be going the same direction."

"I know you're following me. I could tell someone has been watching me." He sighed, putting a hand on his hip. "Why are you following me?" He asked her, his bow still remained in his hand.

Astra shrugged her shoulders. "No real reason, it's just been a long time since a human came through here. I've never seen one up close before." She replied. "Call it curiousity."

She gracefully swung down from the tree and landed on all fours before straightening up again. Each of her movements just flowed into the next, making her quite an interesting sight.

Indeed, she was a sight to behold. Her graceful movement through the trees, then landing on the ground, appeared as simple to him as walking. She had dexterity, that's for sure. "I think that's my line. I've only heard of your kind though, yet seeing one for real, it's rather stunning if I may say." The humans hand reached for his hood and slowly pulled it down, letting his face reveal in the light of the forest. "Do you carry names among your people? My kin call me Tyranis."

His face was young, barely entering his race's age of manhood. His hair was black, and blue eyes adorned the front of his face. His earns lean away from his head a little, and his nose was slim an a little small at the bottom. His lips were a pinkish color, but it's contrast matched the rest of his lightly tanned skin, which he had gotten from traveling in the sun a lot. His hair fell around his face in spiky strands, the longest reaching down to his neck at the sides and back, and the shortest part were his bangs, reaching only the top of his brows. His head rested upon a firm neck, hardly stiffen by muscle density, but still appeared powerful enough.

Her warm orange eyes roved over the features of his handsome face, a smile appearing on her own. She stepped a little closer, shorter than him only by an inch or so. "I am called Astra among my people." She replied cheerfully, then walking around him in a brief circle as she examined him a little closer.

"So, may I ask what bring you to this part of the forest? You're either in a hurry or very, very lost." She laughed, a purr behind her tone.

"I'm just passing through. I heard there was suppose to be a town in or at the other side of the forest." He watched her circle around him for a bit, her eyes gazing at him made him feel uncomfortable. "I'm not sure if I am lost or not. I've just been following the path. Why are you concerned about it?"

"I'm not concerned, just curious. I just want to know what has a human around here." She replied, shrugging her shoulder and twitching her tail. "Yeah, there's a human town somewhere to the west of the edge of the forest but the only villages you'll find in here are filled with my people."

"Thank you. Um, if it's not to much to ask..." He stopped for a moment to put his bow away, and the arrow back in his quiver. "Would you mind escorting me to the human settlement? I'm not sure what I could offer you as a form of compensation for your troubles though."

She tilted her head, folding her arms as she thought a moment on his request. "Hmm... Well, I guess I could. I don't really want payment but I'm sure you'll think of something along the way." She grinned and then turned to start climbing back up a tree. "Give me a moment and I'll get my bearings." She called.

"Alright. Thanks for the help." He watched her dissapear into the trees and decided to take this time to replenish himself. He sat down and took out a pear from his back pack and began to eat it, ocassionally taking a sip from the canteen that he had unstrapped from his waist. She seemed friendly enough, but what of the rest of her kind?

She climbed quickly and easily to the top of the trees and figured out where she was rather quickly. With the direction in mind, she made her way back down and dropped suddenly out of the tree to land beside him. "Okay, I know where we're going." She told him, sitting back on her heels as she waited on him.

He shook a little when she came back, startled at how fast she was going. "Thanks." He had finished his pair and left the remains on the ground. "So tell me more about your kind. What are your people like? Well, aside from outward appearances and all that."

"We're hunters, really." She shrugged, not completely sure what to tell him. "Some of us stay in a group to watch the little ones while the rest of us hunt around here to provide for them and ourselves. Though I don't have much responsibility right now so I mostly fend for myself."

"Oh. Hmm, wonder what I could tell you about my species." He thought as he followed behind her. "We aren't all as...like-minded as other race's tend to think we are." That was the only thing he could come up with. "I really can't label my kind anything else but...I guess we are kinda unique."

"I'll say. How do you manage to survive without fur? All those clothes must be bulky and awkward to wear all the time." She told him, eyes tracing over his body and what he was wearing.

"Quite the opposite. It's like another layer of skin for us, and like fur does for animals, they keep us warm on cold days." He explained to her. He pulled his hood down so she could see his face more.

His hair was black, flat and spikey, reaching down to his neck almost. His eyes were a darkish blue, and his eyes where a bit narrowed, but not to far from normal human eyes. His ears laid flat against the side of his head. All around, his face was slim and healthy looking.

"Oh, I don't think I've given my name to you. My name is Nivek. Do you have a name?"

Her eyes roved over the features of his face, surprised to find she thought him rather attractive. She managed to hide her blush as she replied, grinning widely. "I'm Astra." She told him cheerfully, swaying her hips and tail as she led him through the forest.

"So... those clothes are like my fur... but you can take them off. Doesn't that getting annoying?" She asked, still very curious.

"Astra. That's a pretty name." He smiled and continued to follow behind her. "Never occured to me to be a hassle. We just take them off when needed. The clothes just keep us warm, and we usually change into lighter wear when the air is too warm for such bulky wear. Another reason why we wear clothes is because it protects us from injuries." He continued to explain to her. "I find it odd that you wear so little. Doesn't it get kinda annoying having guys tease you about your looks?"
