Eyes cautiously watched her move back into the room, liking what he saw as he felt a few more chills run down his spine. Hearing her words he smiled and casually walked behind her down stairs. Pulling the chair out he waited for her to scream and go running back upstairs as she noticed the candles lit on the table. Taking the cup from her hands he spoke softly.

"Mum i hope you like, will pour us some wine and serve the food right up"

Alexia didn't notice him watching her, his eyes carefully following the woman as she moved back into her room. After reaching the kitchen, she paused inside of the room and stared at the setting and tears began filling her eyes. "Oh Henry." she murmured, looking up at him as he pulled out a seat for her. "I can't believe you did all this."

She wiped her eyes as she sat down and chuckled while rolling her eyes. "Oh my. I'm crying again." she said with another laugh. "Thank you Henry. This is all so sweet."

He had barely taken one step into the kitchen when he heard the combination of her words and the tears flowing again. He felt happy but at the same time sad. Watching her sit down he placed her cup on the sink, popping the cork of the wine a few seconds later. Pouring her a glass he carried it across to the table and placed it down in front of her along with her food. Softly kissing her cheek and wiping his fingers across the same one he spoke softly.

"Just wanted to try to help cheer you up, i know it is not going to be easy days but we have each other to lean on"

She brushed her still wet hair from her eyes and looked up at him as she smiled gently. "This is cheering me up." she said softly with a nod. "These are happy tears. I promise." She blushed a little as he kissed her cheek and she wiped her eyes again. Her son seemed to of become more affectionate in the past 24 hours but she just brushed it off as him trying to comfort her.

"It's a good thing I have you then, huh? You're one of the strongest people I know." Alexia chuckled softly and cleared her throat before looking over the food and wine. "You've outdone yourself darling."

Noticing the slight reddening of her cheeks he smiled at her words and walked casually back into the kitchen to get his glass of wine along with his food. Recalling her words as he sat down at the table he smiled across into her eyes and raised his glass to hers.

"Thank you, glad you like and always will be the best for you too"

Picking up her glass, she raised it as well and ever so lightly tapped it against his. "And I'll make sure you have and get the best of anything you need." she said. "We'll take care of each other." She took a sip of her wine before setting her glass back down onto the table.

His heart skipped a few beats as he listened to the words of her toast, taking a few sips of his wine before putting it down he picked up his fork and took a few bites of the food. Eyes glancing across the table as he ate.

After taking a drink of her wine, she began eating her food. The stir-fry was delicious just like anything else he made and she made a soft sound of appretiation as she ate her dinner. Every now and then she would take a drink of her wine. She never really drank anything with alcohol in it other then wine because she was a lightweight and got drunk easily.

Henry knew she did not drink much, he had vowed not to either as he took a few more sips of his wine between the eating of the meal. Soon he had finished both and wiped the small serviette across his lips, eyes glanced at her as he moved his chair back before standing up slowly. Entering the kitchen he returned a few minutes later with a bowl of ice cream and strawberries for her, which he placed down on the table.

It didn't take her too long to finish her meal as well as most of her wine before he got up. She looked up curiously as he stood and left the room before returning with the ice cream. She smiled widely and shook her head. "Henry.... You really, really have out done yourself." she said softly. "No one's done anything like this for me in a long time."

And it was true. His father had been so busy at the hospital in the past few years and he didn't have time to do anything like that in a long while.

Henry knew exactly how busy his father had been, feeling he might be the same in a few months time after entering college he wanted to make sure their time together was special. Refilling their wine glasses he softly smiled and spoke before starting to wash up the dishes.

"You deserve this for all the work over the years when i have said nothing"

She looked down at the icecream before lifting her spoon and beginning to eat. The taste of the fresh strawberries was refreshing to her and she sighed softly before taking another bite. "You're spoiling me." she said playfully. "You really are."

Hearing the combination of her sigh and words he smiled and lightly touched her shoulder before moving back into the kitchen. Putting the rest of the food into some containers storing one in the fridge, the remaining ones in the freezer he began to hum softly again. Washing up the dishes and drying them he took a few sips of his wine before putting the wine cooler and bottle back into its place in the fridge.

"Never could be spoiled enough for all you have done over the years"

Soft laughter escaped her lips and she nodded slightly. "If you say so. And I promise that I won't end up like one of those prissy snooty girls that get spoilt." she called after him before focusing on the rest of her icecream and being the icecream fannatic that she was, she ate every last bite before standing up with her bowl and spoon in one hand and her wine glass in the other. As she entered the kitchen, she drank the last of it and looked over at her son. "Thank you Henry. For everything." she said as she washed out her wine glass and cleaned her other dishes. "If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't of eaten tonight."

His eyes watched her enter the kitchen and move about, hearing her words he sighed softly and smiled a little knowing it as the honest truth. Drying up the dishes he began to organise one more tea for her to drink in bed. Picking up the cup he placed it in her hands and lightly traced a finger across her cheek as he spoke softly.

"So happy you did enjoy the meal, this tea should help relax you a little more before sleep later"

Alexia looked down at the cup that he placed into her hands and she jumped a little in surprise as his finger ran over her cheek. She looked up at him in surprise before nodding. "That's a good idea." she said to him. "And I'm ready for bed. I've got my pajama's on and I'm getting sleepy. This tea is just the thing for me." Moving close to him, She placed a hand on his shoulder before leaning up to kiss him on the cheek and she ran the back of her fingers over his cheek. "Don't stay up too late darling." she said softly before turning and heading upstairs.

Again the combination of her lips and fingers moving across his cheek sent sparks and shivers down his spine and through the rest of his body. Watching her head upstairs he made sure all the doors were locked before ascending the stairs himself. Entering his room he stripped down to just his boxers and laid down on his bed, eyes looking out the window into the darkened sky. Opening the top drawer of his bedside table he took out his diary making several short notes in it before putting it away and closing the drawer again.

Up in her bedroom, Alexia folded back her covers and sat down on the edge of the bed before beginning to drink the tea her son prepared for her. After drinking half of it, she slid down beneath the covers and pulled them up around her waist before finishing her tea. With a yawn, she reached over and shut off the light before laying down the rest of the way. Within a few minutes she was fast asleep.

Henry had no intentions of staying up late, several inner promises had to be kept to both himself and dad. No matter what he would never break them. Laying his head down on the pillow he fell asleep, several hours later he woke and glanced at the small clock. It was only 4am, too early yet and checking on the alarm he closed his eyes again. Waking a little after 5am now he got up slowly. Moving quietly from upstairs and now dressed in his running clothes he headed to the nearby park to complete several laps. Finishing up near to 6am he grabbed a newspaper and some extra juice and milk before heading home.

Alexia slept all night before waking up around six. Yawning softly, she slowly sat up and looked around her bedroom before sighing. Slipping out of bed, she rubbed her eyes as she made her way downstairs where she began getting breakfast ready. She knew that Henry was out doing his morning exercising so she wanted to make him a little something. She pulled down everything she would need to make waffles from scratch as well as some blueberries and chocolate chip. She usually made a small mess when she cooked and that morning was no different. By the time Henry got home, she had a small plate of plain, chocolate-chip and blueberry waffles sitting on the table with a bottle of syrup and some butter.

Arriving home and opening the front door he could breathe in the aromas from the kitchen, intoxicating and so desired by him. Hoping he had not woken her up he placed the paper down on the small rack near the table, entered the kitchen and put both the juice and milk in the fridge.

"Mum hope you slept well and it smells delicious"

Hearing the door open, Alexia turned slightly to watch her son enter and she smiled as she rinsed off the last bowl that she used to make the batter. "Yes, I slept fairly well and thank you. I wanted to do something for you to show that I appreciate everything. Besides, I was hungry for waffles too." she said with a chuckle.

Smiling into her eyes and listening to her words and laughing he knew that with time she would keep her bubbly personality and not fret her days away. Pouring a glass of orange juice for himself he softly kissed her cheek before sitting down at the table, taking a few mouthfuls of the juice and a bite of one muffin.

"Any plans for your day Mum"

Alexia shakes her head as she pulls down a glass so that she could have some juice. "No. Not really. I have to take a look at a couple of papers, but they can wait." she said as she poured herself some juice as well. Afterwards she sat down and put two waffles onto her plate and began eating. "What about you?" she asked him.

Listening to her words he smiled a little more and took another muffin, taking several bites of it as he glanced across at her for a few minutes.

"Sounds a good day for you to relax around the house. I will go out later to make sure all college materials are available and begin the extra research on those classes"
