Demon's Bride (Shadow x Nurse)

He pulled himself free of her, That had been.... disappointing, hardly the what one would expect on a wedding night. Still she was human and he couldn't exactly expect her to respond at all. Still due to his inhuman stamina he had found the short session to be more of a tease than anything else, he wanted more. Still it was enough to satisfy the needs for the ceremony, so he simply gathered the woman into his arms in a bridal carry, and gave a nod to his grandfather, before walking out through a side passage that lead to his chambers.

"Its done, Woman." Is all he says as he carries her down the hallway, this too is tradition, carrying ones mate to the bedchambers after the ceremony, though usually said mate isn't limp and half lifeless. He sighs a bit as the door to his chamber opens when he approaches and steps inside.

The room is luxurious of course, The stone walls covered in tapestries and scrolls, and the floor covered by a thick carpet. Another door leads off to other parts of the chamber but he ignores it for now, in favor of laying the woman on one side of the huge bed of silk sheets that he sleeps in. That done he circles back to the other side of the bed and sits down himself, staring out the single window of the room.

The bridal carry was a human tradition too, and she hadn't thought that he would do it, she had thought it was only a human tradition. She held onto him as was necessary so that she wouldn't tumble out of his arms and onto the ground. She glanced up at him when he said it was done, seeing the disappointment written all over his face. She sighed too, unsure of what he had wanted her to do about that. He'd told her not to make any sound, and she'd tried, though he had effectively covered those sounds that she was forced to make by his size. Had he really expected her to be excited and enthusiastic? He hadn't been, and he was the one who was going to get something out of it.

She laid on the bed when he placed her there, rolling over onto her side. Her dress was hanging around her and she pulled it closer to herself, self-concious that she was exposed. That was strange, she thought, that she should still be self-concious about it after she'd just been taken in front of fifty others. But still, she was, and she just wanted him to leave her alone. She glanced up at him when he sat on the other side of the bed but quickly turned her eyes away. She didn't take much time to look at the luxurious room, she was sure she'd be in here for a long time and would have plenty of time to look at the decorations.

He glanced at her and fought back another frown, he was to spend the remainder of... well her life at least with this? A girl who wouldn't even look at him? Shaking his head, his disappointment wasn't in her lack of response, after all he hadn't really put the effort in to make it pleasurable for her, though he could have. It was simply in the fact of this marriage, he had no idea what his Grandfather was thinking, he had simply gotten a cryptic response about fitting in better with humans. His face slowly descended into s ascolw as he finally laid back, tugging the sheet over him, before glancing over at her once more.

"I will explain your duties and what is expected of you further in the morning." he speaks in a short clipped tone, before turning away from her and closing his eyes to attempt to get at least a few hours of sleep.

She heard his words and scowled as well, not appreciating the way he spoke to her. He was so condescending it was disgusting. Most human men were condescending to some degree, but not like he was. Just because she was a human woman didn't mean he needed to talk to her like she was a child. She rolled over onto her other side so that she couldn't even see his body and stuffed her face into one of the pillows on the bed. She closed her eyes and huffed, trying to fall asleep too. It took her awhile, but she finally did fall asleep.

To his credit, the bed was very comfortable, and by the time she was able to fall asleep, she slept silently and peacefully for the rest of the night. She woke up when the sun poured in through the window and sat up, expecting him to have vacated the bed. But she saw that he was still sleeping there. She sighed and flopped back down onto the bed, again staring at the ceiling while she waited for him.

It had taken some time for him to fall asleep, so it was no surprise that he was a bit late waking up. Blinking his eyes once or twice, he sat up from the bed and cast a glance at his 'wife' He had to admit she was rather attractive... for a human, but it didn't really matter. "I see your already awake. Good morning." he says blandly as he turns and stands up, taking a few quick strides to the wardrobe of his clothing on wall. Rummaging through it he eventually pulls out another Hakama, that looks similar to the one he wore yesterday, if slightly more worn and less formal.

Not bothering to look back at her he calls out, as he dresses, "One of the maids will get you your new clothing, as well as help you dress. I will return in roughly an hour and we will have a meal" He pauses as if thinking of whether he should bother to continue. "The servants have been instructed not to....antagonize you. If you find the service lacking tell me when I return and it will be taken care of." That said he pulls a final item from the wardrobe, a practice boken(wooden sword), and began moving for the door.

She sat up when he spoke to her, wrapping her arms around her. "Good morning," she replied quietly, with disinterest. She watched him as he got dressed, but didn't say anything else. She found it so hard to communicate with him. Every time she opened her mouth to speak to him, either she lost her words or she thought that if she really said what she wanted to say, it wouldn't bode well for her. She slid off of the bed when he left and waited for the maid to show up. When she did show up, she was holding a pale blue dress.

The demoness barely spoke to her at all, just telling her to hold her arms out and stand still while she dressed her. She nearly ripped off the gown that was already hanging around her and hurriedly put the second on her. Once it was on her she tightened it so much that she thought she wouldn't be able to breathe. Then she pulled her over to a vanity and pushed her down and began to brush her hair. She took it up and braided it into several patterns atop her head and then left without another word. Once the maid was gone, Eza sighed and rested her head on her hands, trying to hold back tears again.

He went out, a few thoughts straying to his new 'wife' as he headed for one of the training rooms. In that brief moment in the halls when she had stood up to him about the ceremony he had actually been slightly impressed with him, now she just seemed like a frightened mouse again. He went through his usual morning sword training distractedly. True to his word, he sent orders to the kitchen for food to be brought to his chambers before heading back himself.

When he reentered the room he looked mostly the same as when he had left, but for a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead and a few scuffs on his clothing. He simply nodded a greeting to her before opening one of the doors leading off from his bed chamber, within it was a simple low table and a few mats to sit on, he gestured for her to follow before finally speaking up. "Was the service of good quality?" he asks quietly, then on a slight impulse he was unsure of the origin of, he added, "The dress suits you."

She looked up when she heard the door open and stood up, as was custom for the women to do when a human man entered the room. She looked down at herself when he said that the dress suited her and smiled a little. She hadn't expected a compliment from him, no matter how passing it was. She followed him into the other room and answered, "Yes. The service was fine." she wasn't going to say anything bad about the maid, she hadn't been mean to her after all, just indifferent.

She sat on one of the mats and folded her legs underneath her. She looked at him as he sat down as well, seeing the sweat on his forehead. He had been training, that was what the wooden sword was for. "Was your...training, good?" she asked him awkwardly, trying to make conversation with him. She didn't want to go through her entire life without being able to communicate with her husband.

He taps a clawed finger on the table as he sits down legs folded underneath him as well, Awaiting the servant that would bring them a meal. He seems almost surprised when she speaks, seeing how... timid she has been since her initial outburst. He pauses a moment before responding, looking at her almost curiously, "It was... relaxing." He pauses again, thinking of something to ask, "How did you spend your time after I left?" He asks after a moment.

At that point another of the servants enters, he bows his head as he does not meeting either of their eyes as he sets two plates in front of them. and begins setting out other utensils and dishes. It's a simple meal, roasted fish and rice, with a few sauces set out between them to dip the fish in as well. His task complete the servants backs out bowed low and shuts the door quietly behind him. Leaving them to their meal.

She shrugged when he asked her what she had done while he was gone. "I was dressed by the maid, which took up most of the time. Then she brushed and braided my hair. And then I just...waited." she furrowed her brows, realizing how lame that sounded. She had done absolutely nothing while she had waited for him, and that was pathetic. She began to eat the roasted fish and rice when it was set out in front of her, though she didn't begin until he had taken the first bite.

It was then that she realized something. She didn't know what his name was. In her village they just referred to him as "The Demon Lord", a name had never mattered. He'd taken her virginity without even knowing her name either, unless he had asked before she was sent to him. "Can I ask you something?" she said tentatively, but before he answered her she decided that she didn't need permission to ask him a question. "What's your name?"

He listened to her describe her own hour only half paying attention, to her words, he was a bit surprised, he hadn't quite known it took so long for a woman to get dressed, then again he'd never really payed much attention to that sort of thing. He began to pick at his foot idly eating a few bites as he made an effort to think of something else to talk to her about, they simply had so little common ground to work with. He had to admit at least she wasn't cringing and giving him the silent treatment anymore.. that was annoying. His thoughts were interrupted though when she asked him something, he didn't quite catch it, but he looked up as she spoke again.

He frowned when he realized he had never given her his name, that was terribly impolite even if he hadn't been at his best when they met. he was silent for a moment before answering her, "My given name is Seiryu." he paused again remembering too that he had never bothered to ask for her name so added, "And what are you called, I can hardly just keep calling you woman, I suppose."

"Eza," she said, really looking into his eyes for the first time, "My name is Eza." she ate the food fairly quickly, she hadn't eaten the day before because of the long journey and as soon as she'd come here she'd been taken to the ceremony and then to sleep, so she was very hungry. "The food was very good," she said, still a little bit awkwardly, but much better than before. She rested her hands on her legs and continued to watch him, bold enough to look into his eyes every time he looked up at her.

"So...what is expected of me here?" she asked, her voice almost confident. She, somehow, felt a lot better about talking with him now, it was easier than it had been before. Seiryu. It was an interesting name, she liked it. It wasn't some crazy complicated thing like she thought it might be.

He nods as she responds to him, filing away her name as something important to remember, He returns to eating finishing his own meal just a few moments after her. He too hadn't had much time to eat yesterday with all the preparations being done. He found her meeting his eyes when he looked at her now. He idly noted taht her eyes were rather nice but soon shook that particular thought away as she again spoke.

"Too be honest.. very little, you are the Lady of the castle now, you will be expected to sit behind me when I hold court and attend to me at formal dinners and such, but other than certain ...private duties" he gives her a look at that, as if making sure she understood, "You really do not HAVE to do very much." He pushes his plate away and pulls gestures for her to pour tea for the both of them from the small ceramic pot the servant left for them to use.

"Oh. I see." she said, blinking a couple of times at him. So...all she had to do was stand behind him in court, sit with him at dinners, and take care of his personal needs? That sounded horribly boring and tedious at the same time. "That...doesn't seem like much." she commented, trying not to sound ungrateful or rude, but it was true. She had thought he would lay down rules about how she could act, exactly what he wanted her to do for him, who else she needed to watch out for, or something. But this...seemed like almost nothing.

She picked up the tea pot and carefully poured tea for the both of them, setting the tea cup and placing the plate beneath it in front of him as well as one in front of her.

He Nods, as she responds, he wasn't quite done but he doesn't chide her for interrupting, he did pause rather long, "Thats not to say you don't have rules of etiquette to follow or that there are certain other things I may ask you do." He pauses here again thinking how to word his statement, "Those are simply your..official duties." he takes a small sip from his cup before continuing on. "Firstly, you will be expected to remain silent unless I direct something toward you when we are in the public eye. You are to show complete deference to myself in all things." He allows that to sink in taking another sip of his tea.

"I also ask that you follow me on most of my duties... your presence will lend more...credence to our.... union." He is silent again and looks up meeting her eyes with a serious expression this time, "You do know the reason you have so few duties correct?" he asks, not really giving her time to answer he simply says it himself, "You are expected to be kept busy with children... that is the primary reason your here."

She didn't really mind having to be silent in the public eye. What would she have to say to the demon people anyway? She was sure that they didn't want to hear from her, and what could she possibly say to them that would be meaningful? Showing deference to him wasn't much of a big deal either, at least not while in public. In private, she might refute him or argue with him a little, but she didn't think that he could really expect her to never speak her mind in what was now her home.

She cringed when he mentioned the children, but nodded slowly. She knew that. She knew that very well, and she hated that fact, but was trying very hard to accept it, as she had to. "That may take some time, to even get one child. It takes nine months for a human baby to be born, and there's no way to know when I've become pregnant until it starts to show. It could take some time." she wanted to make sure that he knew that, that he didn't expect it to happen over night.

He raises an eyebrow as she makes that statement, and nods, "I'm well aware of how children come to be Eza," he says dryly, "I fully understand that it takes time, but I have been...encouraged to make sure the first at least is on the way as soon as I am able." She is treated to the demon lord actually rolling his eyes in annoyance, "A lord without heirs tends to make ones subjects nervous." he takes another sip of his tea finishing the cup and pushes it toward her in a gesture for her to refill the cup.

"You will be accompanying me to court this evening, your current state of dress is fine, Do not worry overmuch about it though you are simply expected to be there not contribute." he makes the statement as he glances out through the shuttered window to gauge the time of day, and adds, "I will be making a review of the castle grounds shortly, you may accompany me if you wish."

She picked up the small ceramic teapot again and poured him another cup of tea, placing the pot down carefully afterwards. She'd barely touched her own first cup, her mind had been busy thinking about what her future was. How many children did he expect her to have? She wanted to know, but at the same time she was afraid to ask, should the number be something like ten or twelve. She wasn't too thrilled about having to sit at court with him that night, she knew that though she would be silent for the entire time, she would be getting screaming glares the entire time.

Part of her didn't want to go to review the castle grounds with him, but what else would she do? Just sit and wait for him to return so that she could go and sit some more? Walking would be better than that, even if it had to be with him. "I'd like to accompany you," she said with a little nod. Then she thought of something, "Is the...er, demon, pregnancy time the same as human?"

He took the tea, taking another brief sip, as he mentally reviewed, the list of areas that required his presence during the days review, and then glanced out the window again, to gauge the time, he would need to get started soon. placing his cup back on the table he stood with one smooth movement, "Good, we will be leaving to begin the review in several minutes." he had heard her ask something else but for a moment it almost didn't register. When he actually processed the question he quirked an eyebrow at her.

"I believe that period depends on the demon in question, there are lesser demons that give birth or lay their eggs in less than a month, for ...my race, I recall it ranged from eight to ten months." he looks thoughtful for a moment, "Then again we also tend be born as twins, I'm not quite sure how it will work with you being what you are though." Having answered her, he turns and moves to the door.

She stood as soon as he stood, regardless of whether or not she had finished her tea. That movement was ingrained in her, as soon as the man in the room stood, so did his woman. Even if she didn't want to be his woman, it wasn't something that she could avoid doing. Her brain just automatically responded that way, she would probably never be able to stop doing that, even when she was old and grey and he had some new wife (as he probably would).

"Oh. I see." twins, she hadn't thought of twins. It was going to be hard enough raising one half-demon baby, but two? That would be even more difficult. She hoped she would only get one, but with twins the norm in his family, it would probably end up being two. She hoped not, but only time would tell.

he did note her standing as soon as he did, it was good that she knew her place, it was less hassle all around that she did, he opened the door silently and stepped out into the hallway idly glancing back to see if she was following. Seeing that he was he moved off at a sedate pace, toward the outer portions of the castle and toward the first item on his list of places to check over. Namely one of the guard posts close to the outer wall, it was really just a cursory inspection, something he did every week or so to make sure his subjects weren't slacking in any aspect. This was one of the less interesting places but it was a good reason to get it out of the way first. He had something in mind that his... wife might enjoy seeing. It would be good to get her to cheer up if only so that spending time with her wasn't quite so depressing.

With that thought in mind he glanced back to her, "Are there any questions about the castle or anything else you would like answered?" he could see she was still brooding over the subject of children and figured it was worth at least a bit of effort to get her mind off of it.

She actually did have some other questions, but she wasn't exactly sure how to go about asking them. They were of a more personal nature, and she wasn't exactly sure how he would take the question. She didn't want to be rude, she just wanted to be prepared. She didn't like having things thrown at her and she didn't really like surprises if they weren't good things. "Um..." she began, slipping back into her former timidness a little bit, "Is there a, um, scheduled time...for intimacy, or is it going to be...spontaneous?"

She walked with him towards the outer wall, hoping that no one else would hear their conversation. She couldn't really think of much to ask him about except children and intimacy, as that was really her purpose here. To ask him about fighting and sword play would be one sided, to ask him about his people would be pointless. She hoped they could find some other, better, common ground.

He Seemed slightly amused by her question as he continued down the hall, this particular area had little in it so they passed very few servants and such, waiting until non of them are in earshot he responds, "Not...scheduled perhaps, but you can expect it to happen after I retire to my chambers for the night, that is the most convenient time." That said he continues on checking over the guard post, with cursory attention, receiving a nod from the soldiers manning it, most of which simply ignored her completely, pointedly not even looking at her. As they left he turned his head to look at her.

"Would you like to see the castle gardens? I have to check in anyway, and it is a bit more interesting than most of the other places I need to see today." In his experience most females like flowers and such, though he's not sure if the same holds true for her, it seems like a fair assumption.

It made her feel better to know that there was a semi-specific time that she could expect to have to be close with him. It would be, at least at this point in their relationship, difficult for her to fain the enthusiasm she knew he wanted if he just tried to pounce on her at any time. But if she had an idea of when he would want it, she could at least try to accommodate him and make him feel good. It didn't matter that she didn't like him as a person or a husband, she knew that it was a wife's duty to make her husband feel good and to find pleasure in his bed.

Her eyes brightened when he mentioned the garden. She smiled a little, a rarity for her now it seemed, "I would love to see the gardens." perhaps, she thought, she could find sanctity there in the gardens. Perhaps there was a place here where she wouldn't feel so unwanted and so like a pariah.

He nods silently at her response, by her expression it seems he was right about the garden being a good idea. He soon makes a turn at a side passage, and the hall begins growing warmer as they continue, the main castle isn't exactly freezing, but to those unused to it, it tends to feel a little chilly, as the hall continues on, it actually begins to grow warm. Soon enough they emerge from the hall into an outdoor courtyard of sorts, contained on all sides by walls. It seems odd that this high in the mountains the area is so strangely warm but the view is a welcome change from the blues and greys of the castle. It is a veritable carpet of greenery, with multitudes of colorful plants sprouting from every surface., from flowers and small trees on the ground. to ivy and other vines growing up the stone walls.

He steps aside, and gestures for her to explore as she wishes, standing aside to allow her access, besides the two of them the garden seems empty despite its large size. He has a fair amount of time left for the review so he chooses to watch her for now.
