In your girlfriend's bed
It was a new moon which caused the city streets to be bathed in darkness. The streetlamps in the area where either out or flickering but that just made it easier for people to engage in illegal activities. In a blackened alleyway a small spark from a lighter could be seen then just a faint glow. Masako took a long drag of her cigarette as she leaned up against the car. She was dressed in the attire suitable for a person in her line of business. A black suit and tie with a white dress shirt under it. "They're late" she said flatly. Patience was never she strong suit but it came with the territory. "I hope we're not being set up" she added as she dropped her cigarette butt and extinguished it with her shoe.

Kiri was snuggled up in her long blanket, laying inside an alleyway. Everything she had on was trashed and dirty. Despite the filth she lived in, it could be seen clearly that she was an innocent. She was trying to sleep, but finding it hard. It was always hard. She was hungry and weak, and despite how tired she was, she was finding it hard to finally close her eyes.

A second car finally pulled up. Two men stepped out from each side. "Well it's about time" Masako said as she started walking up to them. The two men said nothing and stood there as Masako and her two guards walked up. She stopped and started getting a bad feeling and just as she thought that the two men pulled out machine guns "Shit! Get down!!!" she shouted and they started firing. Masako's guards reacted quickly and pulled her behind their car before pulling out their own guns and firing back. The gunfire lit up the dark alley way as the shots echoed though the streets.

The sounds of gunfire lit up the alleyways, the echoing sound going right into her ears. Kiri couldn't sleep with that ind of sound, so she got up to move. But she didn't know where to go, so she started to wander. Wandering led her to the more open streets to escape the echoes. But the street was where the firefight was happening, and she couldn't tell until it was too late. The blanket-clad girl waddled out into the street, dazed and confused.

The bullets started shattering every window of the car as Masako and her guards hid behind it. She started cursing under her breath and wondered why they didn't have a bullet proof car as she pulled out her own gun and turned to start shooting. However, she didn't because something caught her eye. A girl who was walking right in to the gunfire. "What the fuck?!" she said as she bolted up and ran over to the girl. She knew the other men would think nothing of blowing this girls head off if she got in the way. "Masako!!! What the hell are you doing?!?" one of the guards shouted as he covered her. Masako ran up and grabbed the girl, some what tacking her to keep her from getting shot. In the process a stray bullet grazed Masako's arm.

Kiri felt herself get nearly tackled to the ground, letting out a pained breath of air. She struggled a little, but found herself quite securely down. And she was pinned under a rather warm body. There was only one problem, and that was that she'd been brought down hard enough that her head slammed into the pavement. So she had only a small moment to see the blurred face of the woman who took her down before she passed out.

Masako held the girl as bullets whizzed by her. Her guards got one of the men so there was now only one shooter. She took this opportunity to grab the girl and carry her back to the car. "Are you nuts?! You could have gotten killed" the guard shouted. A few minutes later their reinforcements came and Masako was led into the car "you're taking her with us?" the driver asked. "Yeah, she's hurt" Masako said as she looked down at the girl in her arms. "We don't have time to argue. Just drive" she ordered. The driver just nodded and sped off into the night.

Her knocked out state only lasted a short time. Kiri opened her eyes and looked up at the woman who was still holding her. She was so confused. She had no idea what was going on. But then she saw the blood running down the woman's arm and she shuddered. Kiri buried her face in the woman's stomach, trying to keep her eyes off the gruesome sight. It was gruesome for her anyway. It wasn't that bad from a realistic standpoint.

"Hey you ok?" Masako asked before the girl buried her face in her stomach "Don't worry, you're safe now. No one is going to hurt you" she said, thinking that she was just scared at her unfamiliar surroundings. "Hmm....she looks like a street kid" one of her guards said as he noticed the girls appearance. "Why did you even bother saving her. It would have been better if she was shot. One less street trash to worry about" Masako just glared at her guard. "Street kid or not. She is still an innocent victim" she said. She always had a soft spot for homeless kids sine she was one herself.

Kiri would have whimpered, but there was no sound. She'd never made a sound in her life. And despite the youth and innocence she portrayed, she wasn't so young to be called a child. Not an adult either though. In that awkward in between stage. Alone, with nobody to tell her what was going on, or how she can be better. But she did understand what was being said. So she wrapped her arms around the woman's waist, not letting go. Not wanting to be let go.

Masako smiled as she wrapped her arms around the girl. She felt a connection right away with her. I might be because she was like her when she was younger. She didn't really know at that point in time. They arrived at their hangout. An empty warehouse by the dock. Masako got out and carried the girl inside then placed her gently on the couch. She ordered someone to get her some food before kneeling down in front of her "We need to have someone look at your head ok" she said as she smiled warmly at her. She tilted the girls head by her chin to look into her eyes. "Can you tell me your name?"

When Kiri was asked to have her head looked at, or rather told somebody would, she only shook her head. She'd be fine. She always was. Her face didn't look like she was scared of it, per se, but she just overall looked nervous in this new place. Then a sensitive part of her life came up. Her name. Though she knew her name was Kiri, she didn't know how to say it. She couldn't say anything. When she was asked, she looked down and away from the woman, as if that hurt her somehow.

Masako stared at the girl and waited for a reply which she didn't get. "It's fine. You don't need to tell me" she said as she sat up and sat down on the couch next to her. She figured she didn't trust he yet which was understandable. It was hard for people in her position to trust anyone. A few minutes past before one of her bodyguards came back with a sandwich and a bottle of water. "Here ya go kid." he said with a smile. He was a lot friendlier that the other one.

It wasn't quite like that, but it was just the same really. Kiri smiled softly at the woman, trying to tell her in her own way that she liked her. The woman was nice, and caring. Even to a person like her. When she sat next to her, Kiri leaned into the lady. It was hard not being able to communicate with her. She wasn't able to speak, but she felt well enough in her hands. When the guard came in with water and a sandwich, she nodded shyly and nibbled tentatively on the sandwich. She'd only be able to eat a third before being too full to continue.

Masako smiled as she watched the girl eat. She was so adorable and she had this innocence about her that you don't usually see in someone living on the streets, She got up for a moment to get herself a bottle of water. "So, can you talk at all or are you just shy?" she somewhat joked as she sat back down next to the girl

The girl grimaced a little when she was asked the fateful question. Can you talk? The answer was no, and she shook her head sadly. When she did, she balled up and clutched her blanket around her protectively. She always holed up inside it when she got scared or anxious. This time it was just a lot of negative emotions. She hated that she couldn't speak. After all, how could she call for hep if she had no voice to do it with?

Masako looked at the girls reaction and realized that she hit the nail on the head. She couldn't talk at all. "Oh, I'm sorry" she said, feeling bad for making the girl upset. She knew it was tough living on the streets but when you can't talk. It makes it nearly impossible "How did this girl stay alive" she thought then just let it go since she was not letting her go back out there. "You can stay with me if you want" she offered with a smile.

Kiri couldn't see the smile, still huddled up in her blanket of protection +5. It may have been ratty and tattered, but it was the warmest thing she had. Right up until Masako offered her the ability to stay with her, but she couldn't be serious. She was just some street waif. And Masako was... Well, she seemed refined, strong, and pretty much everything that she wasn't. With the offer, she tightened her grip on the blanket and clutched it around her. Was it really true?

"Are you serious?" her second guard said "She's street trash" Masako just glared at him again "This is none of your business" she said. The guard just scoffed and walked away. "Come on, how about it? A warm bed and all you can eat" she said as she pulled the sheets to see the girls cute face for a response.

She heard the small argument. The woman sure seemed to know how to push her authority. Then her dark world got a little brighter, literally, as the blanket got pulled down a tiny bit. Kiri's face was a bright, blushing red, her teeth barely visible as the bit into her lower lip a tiny bit. Faced with the woman, she nodded slowly and tentatively, still a little in disbelief.

"Great" Maskao said then gave the girl a kiss on her forehead. The doctor came in at that time. They had a doctor on call since because of the business they're in. They are bound to get injured at one point. He looked over Masako and bandaged her arm "It's just a scratch" he said "You're lucky" he went over to examine the girl next. "More like stupid" the guard scoffed, not seeming to let up on this. Masako just ignored him. The doctor finished the examination "Well. no signs of a concussion" he said as he sat up. "Good, ready to go home?" Masako said, sitting up and holding her hand out to the girl.

She looked really uncomfortable as the doctor looked her over. Having a guy that close to her, poking and prodding make her nervous. But he left. And Masako offered them the chance to go home. With red in her cheeks, she nodded and got up without the help of the outreached hand. To take her hand would have meant leaving the blanket somewhat. The blanket protected her far more than anything else had, so she felt best with it constantly around her.

Masako placed her arm around the girl's shoulders as she led her back out to the car. She instructed the driver to take them home. "So, can you communicate at all?" she asked after a while. She figured that she might know some other way to communicate other than speaking since most mutes do.

She blushed as she brought her hands from under the blanket slowly, they were dirty, but so was the majority of her. Her hands made little signs in the air, which Masako may have known was sign language if she was privy to such information. Ironically, if she didn't know what she signed, the answer was 'No.' ["I can use sign language... If you know it too."]

"Oh good you know sign language" Masako said ,happy she can somewhat talk to the girl "I know it too." she added with a smile. They arrived at Masako's house which was a penthouse on the top of a high rise building. Her place was very large with a big living room that was connected to a full kitchen. "Ok now can you spell out your name for me?" she asked as she sat on the couch.
