A Broken Heart, A New Life (Life x Nurse)

Otis looked at her in shock, not expecting that much fire from the little female. Johnny looked just as surprised but also angry, not liking Lucy to begin with and not seeing why he needed to be taking orders from her now especially since Billy wasn't around to protect her.

That only lasted until he got a look from Joe who glared as if to say "what the Hell are you waiting for?". That sent the both of them running off to the horses, bringing back clear alcohol, whiskey, and some fresh clothes.

Otis handed Lucy what she needed, looking at Billy with a worried haze over his usual jolly features. "How is he? He'll be fine won't he? He's had worse...."

"He'll be fine if he just lies here and doesn't try to get up like a dumbass," she muttered as she poured the clear alcohol on one of the cloths. She pressed it against his still bleeding wound tightly, the cloth becoming soaked red in moments. She repeated the process twice, his wound bubbling a little bit. The alcohol was acting as a disinfectant and was killing everything and searing the nerve endings.

Eventually the bleeding stopped enough for her to wrap the wound again. She uncorked the whiskey and tipped it over on his lips, letting the liquid seep into his mouth. It should wake him up and then sedate him enough that he wouldn't be able to feel the pain from his shoulder.

"Ugg...." With a groan Billy opened his eyes, trying to blink out the crap that seemed to fill his entire body. The first few seconds after he awoke were ok, just a little disorienting. It was the after that haze of alcohol had worn off and the pain returned that was unpleasant.

"Erggg...what the...?" He looked at his shoulder and up at Lucy, trying to figure out what had happened. "What are you staring at me like that for?" He asked her, his face red and sweat forming on his brow from the shock of the bullet wound. Did she patch me up like this?

"Ha! Knew you'd be back Billy!" Otis grinned, slapping Lucy on the back. "Good going girl!"

Lucy gave Otis a weird look when he slapped her on the back. She wasn't a comrade, he couldn't just do that. Well, she supposed, she was their personal whore. He could do whatever he wanted to her and there wasn't much she could do to stop him. She almost immediately turned her attention back to Billy, tipping the flask of whiskey up to his lips again and letting some of it pour into his mouth.

"You need to be careful," she whispered to him so that the others might not hear her, "Your shoulder's in pretty bad shape, but I think I fixed you up pretty good. Drink this whiskey and the pain should subside for awhile." then she gave him a little personal smile and squeezed his hand that was squished in between his leg and her knee, no one could see that she was doing that.

Billly looked at Lucy, confused by the display of affection. Considering all that she ahd went through there was not a god dame reason in his mind that she should show him much of anything except contempt. But still she seemed to be genuinly worried about him.

Billy pushed those thoughts away though. She must be trying to earn his trust so he won't just through her aside. That's what women like her did in these situations. "Alright," he said, not needing any more incentive to drink some whiskey. He pulled his hand away from hers though, not used to these gentle touches unless sex was involved.

She felt a little pang of sorrow when he pulled his hand away from hers. But she figured he was just in pain or something. She tried to tell herself that it wasn't because he didn't want her touching him. She stood up and brushed herself off, there was dirt and dust covering her entire skirt. She glanced over at Johnny and Otis, the ones she'd ordered around to get stuff for Billy.

"Um, sorry I yelled at you," she murmured to the both of them. "Thanks for getting the stuff for me."

Otis just smiled. "Think nothing of it girl. I'd go to hell and back for old Billy there and getting yelled at by a pretty lady is the least I could do for him."

Johnny just glared at the woman before turning to look at Coyote who had suddenly let out a pained gasped as Joe tried to stop the blood from flowing from his wound.

Billy nearly shot up at the sound of a member of his gang pained like that. He grabbed his wound with his wound with his good hand, hissing in pain but pushing it down. "How is he?" he asked, more concerned for Coyote than his own wound at the moment.

Joe shook his head, the expression on his face telling all. Coyotes breathing was fast and ragged, his eyes wide open but unfocused. His hand seemed to claw at the dirt, trying to reach for something to hold onto.

Lucy gave Otis a small smile when he said it was okay. She was glad he wasn't angry at her, despite the look that Johnny gave her before he turned away. She looked over at Coyote and stood, grabbing the cloths that she hadn't used. She went over to him and knelt beside him, looking at his wounds. He had a shot in his arm, one in his stomach, and one in his chest.

She placed a cloth on each of his wounds to try to soak up the blood, but they became drenched in moments. She sighed and wiped Coyote's brow gently, reaching for the bottle of whisky and tipping it to his lips. "I don't think he's going to make it," she said softly, "But maybe we can make him comfortable instead of going in pain."

Billy listened to what Lucy said and laid his head back, closing his eyes. He was the leader, so these sorts of decisions were always his responsibility. He wasn't no doctor, but even from here he could see Coyote wasn't going to make it. Poor bastard had a hole in him you bigger than train.

"Joe," he said, "you take care of it."

The large Indian nodded and looked Coyote square in the eye. The man was delirious from blood loss and pain, but seemed to understand in some fashion and closed his eyes. A few seconds later Joe got to his feet, pulled out his revolver and fired a shot dead center between Coyote's eyes. The bullet tore through the skull and exploded out the back, blood snaking down underneath his scalp onto the dusty earth. Coyote had died instantly.

Lucy got up as soon as Billy told Joe to take care of it. She knew what was going to happen. She may have only been with this gang for a few days, but she'd already seen at least a dozen men killed. She didn't want to see Coyote go too. So she got up and turned away, walking away just a little bit. She covered her face and jumped a little when she heard the shot.

Lucy was upset, of course. But she tried not to show it. Billy would just tell her she was being a weak stupid woman. So she turned back around and heaved a sigh, waiting for Billy to tell her what to do.

There was a moment of silence after the shot, none of the men saying anything. Joe's arm seemed locked in place for a few moments before he finally drew back the revolver and holstered it again. Like that the spell was broken and Billy gathered himself up.

"Lets make tracks. There might be more coming this way and we don't want to get caught with our pants down.

The others nodded, making for their horses. Otis lingered only to fish Coyotes pockets for cash and his guns, leaving the corpse behind.

Billy made his way to Lucy, his arm cradled in his chest. "Can you ride a horse woman?"

Lucy's eyes grew wide when Billy asked her if she could ride a horse. She blinked at him a couple of times and then actually tried to answer, getting over the shock of watching Joe shoot Coyote point blank.

"I, um..." she stammered, blinking rapidly, "I think so. Not as well as you, but I can try." she knew that wasn't good enough, but what more could she say? The only other option was for them to leave Coyote's horse behind.

"Alright then," Billy took her hand with his good one and led her to Coyote's horse. "You'll ride this with us, try and keep up and don't think of running away. You know how good a shot we all are." He smirked as ht told her this and helped her up, everyone else already getting on their own horses.

When Billy made for his own horse, his shot arm resting now in a makeshift sling, it was obvious he was having trouble climbing up with just the one arm. Gritting his teeth in pain and to proud to ask for help he eventually dragged himself up there and took the reins. "Let's ride."

Lucy steadied herself on the horse as best she could. She knew how to ride, of course, but she wasn't sure how she would do galloping through the desert with the bandits. As soon as Billy made his command though she took hold of the reigns and kicked at the horse, who thankfully immediately began trotting. Soon he sped up to a canter, a lope, and then to a gallop and Lucy was keeping up with them surprisingly well as they tore through the desert.

The ride is long and hard, made even longer with Lucy trying to keep up and Billy trying to ignore the pain in his shoulder. It was well past nightfall when they saw the town, the most wretched place in these parts, Scorched Earth.

From afar it looked like a typical western town. A church in the town center surrounded by other buildings. The closer one got however the sooner one saw that many of the buildings were saloons or whorehouses. Men walked through the streets clearly drunk and prostitutes cooed and enchanted men plainly in the streets. Passing by one alleyway you could make out the form of a man humping away at some pretty thing underneath him. Weather it was consensual or not didn't matter as no one was about to stop him.

Lucy was exhausted by the time they reached Scorched Earth. This was the last place on earth she wanted to be. She'd never been to Scorched Earth before but she'd heard plenty about it. It was a horrible place racked with prostitution, lawless men, and violence. They slowed down once they reached the town and Lucy started to cringe and shrink closer to her horse. The men were eyeing her already, one could try to snatch her off the horse at any moment.

She glanced up at Billy in the front of the pack. It was his idea to come here, he wanted to sell her out. But she was falling for him, and heavily. How could he do that to her?

The gang slowed to a trot as they came into town, the men at least happy to be here. Several times someone called out from the streets and raised a drink to theme, to which Billy and the others smirked and waved back. It seemed they had a bit of a reputation around these parts.

Billy led them to the largest, loudest saloon in the town. You could hear the piano music playing and men fighting inside as they approached, and as they got up to it someone was even thrown through a window from the second floor. He didn't get back up.

Billy hoped off his horse and starting tying it to a post. They didn't have to worry about losing them because the town, while full of degenerate monsters, did follow one law: No horse theavin'.

He came up to Lucy, holding out his good hand for her to get down. "Come on darling, time to show you around town."

Lucy grabbed on to Billy's hand and jumped down from the horse warily. She tied the horse up next to Billy's and then glanced around, seeing the eyes pour over her body. She cringed and tried to make herself smaller, moving her body right up next to Billy's. "I don't like this place," she murmured quietly, glancing at the other men in the group as well.

"It'll grow on ya," was Billy's response as he wrapped his good arm around her. "Stick with me and you'll be fine."

Pushing her along he brought her inside. Indoors the saloon was even more rowdy than one would have thought from the outside. Everywhere men and women laughed and shouted in a haze of tobacco smoke and alcohol. Saloon gals in frilly dresses leaned on men who were obviously paying them well. Their was a stage at the back were a group of girls were dancing a kind of can-can for the men as the piano played them a tune. And of course their was a nice-sized bar.

Billy looked around until he saw his goal: a table were a poker game was being played at. He eyed the lead player, an old aquantince of his.

"Hello there Clyde," Billy said as he approached the table, keeping Lucy close so the vultures wouldn't swoop in for her right away. "How you been?"

The hairy man looked up at him with a smile. "Well well well...'Gravestone' Jones is still breathing. Good to see ya Billy."

A saloon girl was sitting in Clyde's lap, arms wrapped around his neck. She had on an expensive looking dress, purple and red with black frills. Her cleavage was dolled out for all to see and it was obvious she liked showing them off. "Hello there Billy," she said with a sly smile. "Looking for a good time while in town? I know me and my girls have been looking forward to ya." She looked Lucy up and down with a look of a wildcat. "Who's the little girl? You pick her up off the street?"

Lucy had been afraid and nervous from the time she hopped off of the horse and that had only grown when they went inside the place. She hugged against Billy closely, her heart beating wildly. She had planned not to open her mouth once inside the bar, but when the whore in Clyde's lap insulted her Lucy's eyes darkened and she pulled away from Billy a little.

Lucy's corset was a little tight and she thought her breasts were arranged attractively, but they certainly weren't spilling out like that woman's were. Sure, her dress was more expensive than Lucy's, but Lucy also didn't have to sleep with every man who walked into the saloon. She was lucky enough to only have to sleep with Billy and his men.

"Do I look like a street slut to you?" she hissed angrily, one fist tightening up.

The woman smirked. "No. From the way you're holding onto Billy I'd say you're more of a personal whore."

She and several of the other men laughed at Lucy for this until Billy cleared his throat and pulled up a chair. "Say Clyde, I was actually looking for a quick game of cards. You have a little something I want so how you and me have one game?"

Clyde raised his eyebrow. "What're the stakes?"

Billy shrugged his shoulders. "If I win you give me that little lady's dress," he gestured to the whore in his lap who sneered. "Like Hell I'm giving away my dress!"

"Quite Lydia," the man barked at her. "And if I win?"

Billy shrugged. "Then I'll let you sleep with my Lucy right here."

For the first time in all the days she'd been with Billy and his gang, Lucy was glad to be his personal whore. So much better to actually belong to someone (or several) than to have to sleep with anyone who would offer up some money. So she smirked back at the woman and stayed silent but tightened her grip on Billy, almost protectively.

Lucy's eyes widened and she looked at Billy when he said he wanted the girl's dress. It could only be for her. But then he offered Lucy up as a prize if he didn't win. She swallowed uneasily and gripped him even tighter, hoping that he would win. Clyde didn't look very nice, she definitely did not want to be less than fully dressed in his presence.

"You're gonna win right?" she whispered to Billy.

Billy rubbed Lucy's head like he was consoling a child before giving her a quick peck on the lips. "For luck," he told her.

Sitting down at the table he stretched out his good arm as the dealer started to hand out the cards. Clyde looked him in the eye, Lydia watching with interest around his neck. After everyone had their cards the two men looked at their hands and smirked at each other.

They drew their new cards, never taking their eyes off the other. Eventually they moved just smiled and Clyde said

"Straight." He showed his hand.

Billy smirked. "Full House."

Clyde snarled and threw his cards to the table, grumbling and staring at Lucy like she was a peice of meat snatched away from him. Lydia looked even more upset. "Well Sugar," she said to Billy, "How about we head upstairs and you can get me out of this little dress?"

Billy laughed and shook his head. "Sorry Lydia, but I'll be having that dress now."

Lydia looked shocked but knew Billy wasn't kidding. She frowned and got to her feet, hands moving to pull the dress of herself. Her undergarments were some fancy lingerie that showed her nipples freely that she tried to cover as Billy snatched away the dress. She ran for the stairs, several men following her in interest.

"Here you go Lucy," he said as he handed her the expensive garment. "You're going to turn heads with that on." It was certainly much nicer than what she had on now.

Lucy was overjoyed that Billy had won the card game. Even better he'd forced that mean bitch to strip right in front of everyone and hand over the dress. She took the garment when he handed it to her and held it close to her body. It smelled of perfume and smoke, but that was alright. She figured that everything smelled like that here.

"Thank you, Billy." she said with a big grin. He'd even refused to sleep with Lydia, which was even better. "Donno what I'd do without you," she cooed, wanting so badly to give him a giant kiss, but unsure if he'd be okay with that.

"You'd be in the desert getting fucked by buzzards," he said with a grin. "Instead you're here, getting fucked by me." He leaned in and licked the side of her neck and whispered "Let's find as room for ourselves, k' darling?"

Taking her by the waist he led her to the barkeep and ordered a room. Taking the key upstairs he found their sleeping quarters, a medium size room with a double bed (nice and soft) and a good window. Of course their was a dresser and even a smaller room to the side with a vanity mirror, though it was a little cracked and missing a drawer.

"Why don't you go try on that dress and show it off to me?"
