Mugen (1×1 w/ Jikkah)

The child was gone and didn’t look back, leaving Yuko alone for what felt like hours as she moved about the maze-like house.
Sanemi’s voice could soon be heard, calling out Yuko’s name, panic and concern in his voice as it grew louder.

It wasn’t long before he rounded the corner, but this time his appearance was that of his human self. All but his eyes looked entirely human, Sanemi moving over to Yuko and helping her carefully sit down. “What happened? Why was Isamu wandering on his own?” He looked her over, panic on his face.

She almost stopped breathing for a moment, tears filling her eyes as she just stared at him.
"I-I wanted to have a look around, so I asked him to carry me and we could take a tour...b-but he put me down and just left...! I-I swear, I just wanted to see the nice house you got for me...!" She told him, reaching for his hands and wishing with all her heart that he believed her. She was already in so much pain from just leaning against the wall, she wouldn't handle another beating - or worse.

His hands took hers firmly, but not hard.
“I believe you, Yu.” He said softly, holding her carefully.
“I believe you, but..” He punched her in the stomach, not hard enough to injure her, but enough to hurt. “You still let yourself get tricked like that? Pathetic.” he sneered.

She gasped raggedly and coughed, forced to brace against him and be open to further abuse.
"I-I'm sorry...!" She wheezed, "I-I wanted him...to trust me...so I could take care of him...! I-I won't fall for something like that again...!"

He backhanded her hard, fist clenched in rage, veins popping out on his forehead as he glared down at Yuko. He gnashed his teeth before back-handing her a second time, then punching her in the head. “You better hope you don’t, Yuko!” He snarled out through his teeth.

She fell to the ground and let out a scream as her ankle twisted, breaking into sobs as she lifted her hands in a feeble attempt to protect herself.
"Nemi, please...! I-I feel like I'll pass out...! It hurts so much...! Everything hurts, Nemi, make it stop...! I'll be good, I promise...! I promise, just please...!" She begged, her vision tunneling.

He glared down at her for a moment, sucking his teeth before he picked her up, careful of her leg. “We’ll talk more about this later, let’s get you to the doc.” He said stiffly, making his way down the hall to the bedroom he left the doctor waiting in.
“Ah! Is this the patient?” It was an older man, balding and pudgy, thick round glasses siting high on his nose.
“Yes, my wife, Yuko.” Sanemi nodded, setting Yuko down carefully on the bed. For the doctor to examine.

The doctor looked over Yuko, trying his best to ignore the various bruises she was covered in.
“My wife isn’t well.. Mentally. She hurts herself, and this time she threw herself down the stairs and broke her leg.
“Of course, why don’t I give her something for the pain so I can better examine her leg?” The doctor said.
“Of course, please.” Sanemi answered so naturally, the doctor moving to his case and pulling out a syringe and a vial of clear liquid. He drew up a dose of opiates for Yuko, moving back over and setting it on the tray he set out. Tying off her arm he carefully gave her the drug, drawing back the syringe and looking to Yuko. “The pain should start to subside, just be patient and give it a few minutes to circulate.”

She whined softly and tried to endure, before she finally started to settle and relax.
"Don't...don't take my foot..." She mumbled, "Please..."

The doctor seemed nervous about the whole situation, something obviously not right, but he kept his mouth shut and treated Yuko regardless. “I’ll do my best to keep the limb, but if your life comes to danger I’ll have to take it.” He said, going back to his bag for antibiotics so the pain meds could properly kick in before he fixed her leg.

She whimpered, laying in a stupor as the doctor worked. She just wanted the pain to stop, even with the opiates it was a terrible dull ache.

The doctor examined the leg, frowning softly at its condition. First he made an incision in the calf to release some of the pressure from the infection. Once he had cleaned and dressed the wound properly, he moved to gently feeling her leg, checking for the type of break.
“You’re in luck, it feels to be a clean break, and it’s only partially out of place.” He reported, Sanemi nodding as he watched, glancing to Yuko briefly.

She looked exhausted, a small sweat breaking on her brow, and her eyes sluggishly moved to look at him.
"Lucky..." She slurred weakly.

The doctor worked quickly, instructing Sanemi to hold down Yuko’s shoulders before he set the bone in her leg. Once set, he splinted and wrapped her leg, making sure to properly elevate it. “There..”

She jerked and cried out when he set her leg before settling again, whining softly as she tried not to fall unconscious.
"Th...Thank you..." She muttered weakly.

Sanemi gently rubbed her shoulders to soothe her, watching the doctor work closely as he cleaned up the mess from treating Yuko’s wound.
“Will her leg be saved then?”
“We can’t be for certain yet, give it the night to see how her leg progresses, and we’ll go from there. I’ll need to keep a close eye on the swelling, mark the edges to know if it begins to spread.”
Sanemi nodded slowly and looked to Yuko.
“Rest now, Yuko.”

He shook his head, brushing his fingers over her cheek. “I won’t go anywhere.” He said softly. “I promise.”

Sanemi couldn’t risk killing the doctor not yet anyway- once Yuko’s leg was safe from amputation and she was back in proper shape. It wasn’t ideal, he’d have to keep up appearances and ensure his safety.
“Please let me show you to where you can stay. Your own room while you’re here.” Sanemi put on a display that surely would make Yuko’s skin crawl with how accommodating he was in that moment.
“Thank you very much..” The doctor nodded, sweat still on his brow.

If she were conscious and properly aware of the situation, she would be screaming for the doctor to run, to save himself. The fact that she had been sedated was a blessing for Sanemi and a doom for this poor doctor.

Sanemi needed the doctor, as much as it pissed him off to put on such a pathetic facade, it wasn’t always a better option to threaten with violence. After getting the doctor settled in his room, he returned to Yuko’s side, sitting at her bedside like he had promised.
