Oh? How did you get in there? I assume you must have found Shadowheart, Astarian, and Gale by now? Or did you just bee-line it up the beach to Shadowheart?

She dropped the large stone on the ground. And then jumped down from the hole.

And beat up the bandits there, or talk them into leaving on their own?

Also, what about the walking brain in the tutorial? Or the flaming sword from the tutorial boss? (Sheesh, there's so many things you can easily miss even there).

got the brain. not sure about the sword. . . and the bandits left!

Got the brain permanently?

And the Illithid boss at the end, you can disarm it and the sword falls to the ground, and then you can sprint up and grab it and you get to keep it. It's one of the best swords early in the game. Great for any strength based class that can use two handed weapons. But, if you aren't sure then you almost certainly didn't get it. So....uh.....fun fact for next time I guess! lol

What about the bandits inside the temple? And which companions do you have yet?

uhm, don't think so ??

Gotcha, so you've done some lookin' around. That's good. The brain can show up again later if you make sure it survives, but I don't want to spoil too much if you're just lookin' to go through the game organically your first time through. So, if you want me to shut up about what might be possible later then just say so lol.

i'm just taking it one step at a time for now, ehehh. i'm not that good at these games, and i'll admit it's already a looooot to take in!!

Oh for sure. I don't play BG3 as a min-max type who multiclasses and uses all the DnD mechanics to smash through the combat. But I'm a bit of a completionist about RPGs like this, so if there's vastly different ways to play, or cool puzzle-solving things that require you to do something exactly right along several steps and then in act 2 or 3 you get this cool little thing, then I'm like....dang.....I wanna do that!

That's sort of how I'm approaching the second playthrough on my bard. I'm just seeing what I missed in my first, more organic playthrough. I missed out on so much! Like....I never even found the owlbear, and had no idea you could even recruit one of the companions. And my bard is so good at talking his way out of things that my "good guy" Drow ranger just couldn't.

i was originally planning to do saturday too, but something has come up, so when i am back from a short hiatus, i will see if i can put some new dates up in the poll!! thank you for hanging out with me πŸ₯°

I decided to make a fresh character to start over and remind myself of what's in Act 1 so I could be a better help.

I already found a bunch of things we should go back and get before moving on lol.

No worries! Looking forward to it. 😊

you mean, so it'll take me 200 hours to get to act 2 instead of 100??

The absolute urge to play more is insane, but I don't want to get ahead of everyone.
you can still play one of your other characters!!

Depends on how much of the game you want to see/can manage to succeed the rolls for! Sometimes you miss interesting stuff just because you fail a roll =/

Though, I'll say quite a bit of the time I spend is in talking to companions because they often have new and interesting (at least to me) things to say after some event or big reveal happens or another companion joins....like Astarion's big reveal that he's a vampire spawn you just recently got. The other companions will now have a quick sentence or two to say about him to give their opinions, for example. It's meaningless as far as story goes, but I like that kind of stuff. :)

I also realized you missed being introduced to Auntie Ethel in the druid's grove! Gotta go back and see her.

well, i don't know what there is to explore in the first place. and my rolls.......... well, now that you told me to save before each one, i guess it'll be easier, eheh.

then we can go back!

Sometimes I fail and just shrug and go "Well, I guess I missed whatever I was supposed to notice there" because it obviously won't lead to anyone's death, and in BG3 I really like to stick to the character I've created and their class/personality should match. So, if a roll is really difficult because my Paladin just isn't that well versed in the Arcane (for example) then I don't mind failing a 15 dif roll just because my character probably wouldn't know whatever a successful roll would help them discover.

It's mainly the dif 5 rolls where I've got +4 on the dice and yet still somehow fail because rolling a 1, even with +4, is an automatic fail. (That's what I was bitching about on Weds when I said the mechanics of D&D have a much too high a chance to fail if you're an expert - the task could be so easy that your character sheet literally guarantees a success (e.g., a 5 dif with +4 stats implies that there is no number you could roll where you'd actually fail because 1+4=5), and yet, the game simply dictates that you have an automatic 5% chance to fail, and in a game like BG3 where you make 2 dozen rolls an hour, you wind up rolling a LOT....like a LOT of 1's even on the easiest possible rolls.)

Anyway, I'm ranting again, but this is mainly why I say to save before every roll, that and you might just REALLY want to succeed because failing gets you into a fight you don't want by total accident, for example, or you lock yourself out of a really cool bit of content because you answered a question incorrectly when there was really no way to know what "correct" means under the circumstances. On my first playthrough, I just couldn't stand the thought of walking up to a locked chest or door and failing the roll on the trap and being unable to open it to see what's in there.

The Paranoia caused by the passive perception/survival rolls in the open world that I kept failing was strong incentive to make sure I had someone in the party that would have a 95% success rate with those lol. You just never know what goodies you'll find in buried chests, or what buttons you couldn't see to open a secret door or whatever.

then we can go back!

Yep! There's also some inventory management stuff it'd be good to remember for later if you don't already know it. Weight winds up becoming a huge problem later on if you don't know certain things.

I think that the fun with BG3 is that you won't/can't experience everything the first time. I just stumbled on the hidden vault under the toll house. And this is my 4th playthrough!
Not like it's a huge secret, but still!

Yeah, there's also the basement in the alchemist's shop in the village in act 1 that I just never found.....which means I never got the book in there or the quasit familiar.

@reverie. That's another thing we need to go back and do if you want.

Not so much as 'go back' rather than 'do it' as she doesn't have Karlach.

This sounds fun and I probably would also need this type of arrangement to force me to finally finish BG3. I reached the third act, and then I just stopped and continuously attempted to replay the whole game on several occasions. I just feel I want to do EVERYTHING, which ends up with me feeling game fatigue, since I guess this is a type of game you shouldn't do EVERYTHING in one go.
