EPIDEMIC

Maria was a peaceful planet with beautiful forests, great oceans, and kind people. The people of Maria are a religious people and when each person reaches the age of 13, when they hit puberty they are given a weapon with a blade. They are then taught how to use this weapon so that they may defend themselves and their family. Then twenty years ago in the country of Axisim some strange people came to the planet. They called themselves Lasharans. They were pale, greatly disliked sunlight, had an allergy to silver, and had striking lavender eyes. They were a beautiful people, but they did not eat food as the Marians did, instead they drank blood. When there great secret was revealed people became afraid. Many people tried to kill them, but nothing worked, except for fire, and literally taking off their heads.

The group that had been made of twenty people was reduced to only 6 no, three women and three men. It was at this time that their biggest secret was revealed. They had the ability to turn Marians into their kind by draining them to a point close to death and then feeding them their blood, but this was not the only way. They carried some sort of contagious virus that eventually produced the same effect as turning. If their bodily fluids, such as spit, blood, etc., made it into your body or stayed on your body without being purged by fire, then your body would begin to change. You would become like the infected, and would be fully turned within a week.

It was first believed that the Lasharan women could not reproduce until Asher Moningdale, one of the six members of the Lasharan Council, gave birth to the first half breed, part Lasharan and part Marian, commonly called a Larian, to live on Maria. The Lasharians realized that the Larians had a hidden strength that made them as strong two grown Lasharans by the time they had reached their prime. Larians aged quickly and had reached their prime by the age of ten, having the appearance of a 23 year old, and knowledge well beyond their years. Larians have one lavender eye and one other color eye.

This epidemic took Maria by storm, and now the Marians are an endangered species. There are only 50,000 Marians left, and the majority of that is children. There have been Marian doctors that have managed to avoid the infection and are searching for a cure. They came across a discovery that children seem to be immune to catching the disease. This also holds true for anyone that was fed off of by an infected person when they were a child. They are only able to be turned by being drained and then force fed some of an infected person’s blood. Emi Ganstein is one of these doctors.

Her brother Darron Ganstein is a researcher on the disease. He learned that when an infected person is turned a cross is made and their name is written on the cross in their blood. If the cross is burned with their weapon having been stuck in the left side of the cross, or the honor side, by the infected person then even if they have been killed by the Lasharan council, made up of the six original Lasharans, or some refugee hunting down the infected, then they will turn back to a Marian and be given a second chance at life. If their weapon is in the right side, or has not been placed in the cross at all then they will die a horrible death.

Asher's daughter, Anna Blaire, began to realize how poorly her fellow Larians, and the Marians were treated by the Lasharans, unless they were the children of members of the Lasharan council or some high-ranking turned Larsharan at the age of 16. She left it alone though until her mother killed her human lover and she learned that she was a Larian. She had been left her whole life to believe that she was simply a Lasharan with a birth defect. She became enraged and entered into a fight with her mother, in which she ended up punching her mother through a solid brick wall of the castle, where many high-ranking Lasharans including the Lasharan council, lived.

She had been the leader of the Lasharan's squad of trained assassins. She had perfect precision with a throwing knife, and was very good and getting around people without being detected. She left her own high-ranking position in order to defect from the Lasharans, bringing over 1,000 Larians with her, in order to start a group of Larians that sided with the Marians and strived for peace and equality between all people. She later found out that not only was she a Larian, but her father was the father of Emi and Darron Ganstein, who had become thorn in her mother's side. She found her family and sided with them, helping them to achieve peace, and safety for all the people. She uses her knowledge of the Lasharan's to find their keeping grounds, or the place where they keep their Crosses of Eternity and help her siblings destroy the crosses and save the people.

Darron, Emi, and Anna Blaire, along with a group of refugees are now traveling the planet and burning all the crosses they can find in an attempt to purge the world of this horrible disease. Let us pray, for their sake, that they can accomplish their goal before it is too late.

Emi Ganstein was tending to a young 15 year old girl that had caught the infection. It was so sad when they caught it that young. The poor girl had caught it in her pregnancy but the boosted immune system was able to hold off the infection until she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. She had only three more days before the infection would have fully run its course and she would have to be placed in a holding cell until their ship was able to land. She wouldn't be able to interact with her son, and it was eating at her. She had spent the first four days of her transformation in tears.

Emi held back her tears as she ran an icy cool cloth over the young girl's forehead. "Emi, this must be hard on you. I'm sorry, I should have been more careful." The young girl said in a raspy voice as Emi changed out the IV with blood. The girl wouldn't be able to drink blood yet on her own until the transformation was complete. It made the transformation easier on the infected person though if they were given blood after the fourth day.

"It's harder on you than it is on me, May, and none of this was your fault." Emi said as she felt a pang in heart for the child that could never see his mother. The poor girl would never die after her transformation, unless she was killed, but she would never be able to interact with her son. She would also be adding to the forces of the infected. This meant that there was one last human. This was no good but they would have to take it as it came.

"Emi, do me a favor, and take care of Emerson, please." May pleaded and Sepia couldn't help but feel bad for the girl. It was a complete accident that May had even become infected. The girl had been Emi's assitant, and she had volunteered to help propagate by giving birth. She had gotten pregnant with her son Emerson and was cleaning a hallway that had a person that had just caught the infection, but hadn't told anyone yet. They had coughed on May and she had contracted the infection. Ever since she had caught the infection she had been isolated. She was only able to be around those with immunity or that had the infection, or Emi for 7 whole months.

"Of course sweetheart. I'll be back to check on you later. Try to rest." Emi said as she left the room and washed her hands, in water, and then in fire. Sepia wrapped Emi's hands up tight in cloth to douse the flames and prevent burning and blistering.

Richard rode on a black stallion he had gotten as a gift from a rancher who he helped out by killing off the two infected that came and attacked his ranch. He looked back at the girl behind him and noted how she did not say much but kept an eye out for the infected and also that she was a pretty girl he had come to know as Kahlan Amnell. Richard let out a grin but knew that he would not get close cause he was too busy ridding the world of the infected. He spoke up and said "we are close to the next town did you enjoy the scenery.
Kahlan let out a small chuckle and said "trees here and there but mostly just grass as far as the eye can see oh and lets see the road is a pretty shade of gray other wise i would say no". she looked at the big man in front of her and noted that when they get to town all the woman in the town would be starring and some would even try to woe this man but if they turn out to be the infected she would cut them down . She knew Richard would but she took pleasure in seeing the infected die left and right. she closed her eyes and felt the slight breeze on her face and smiled. "well we should stop there and get something to eat I'm hungry". she opened her eyes to see the big man nod and then she closed her eyes back.

Allin Sacriasos had walked for days on end, her mind tired but her body refusing to sleep. She moved with purpose and grace, but still she felt the need to rest. It irritated her more than anything, as she knew once her eyes closed the terrors would start. The fear would jolt and pain her, and yet still her body and mind would collaborate to rest and bring upon her these fears.

Yet still she moved, waving off the sudden tiredness of her limbs, the lids of her eyes becoming heavy, the weight of the scythe upon her back becoming to much. Focus and determination kept her walking though, moving through one of the more open planes of the continent. It was dangerous to be out in the open anymore after the infection began, but Allin cared very little for her own safety. She was dealt the hand of death, and therefore she would return that hand to the dealer. She would not fold, however: even in the most dangerous of times, a bluff can still win.

More than anything, young Allin simply wanted to lay down and die. To finally be free of her bonds of pain and solitude, to be able to join her family in the afterlife. However, her mind would not let her go without first getting revenge. Her family had been innocent, and had done nothing to deserve their slaughter. Her hands, however, had been the executioner of her family, and she relentlessly blamed herself more than anything. However, a burning desire in the core of her being still yearned for the death of those who changed her family into monstrosities.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i39/Karinina/Loganclip.jpg]Darron waswandering the ship, searching for his sister Emi. They had found a village nearby and were planning to land. The air ship needed a break anyways. They would land in the ocean that was seperated from the village by a forest, and then weigh anchor. They would head to the village for supplies and pick up any survivors of the disease. They would also drop off anyone on the ship that had become infected. It didn't take him long to find Emi coming out of May's room.

"Emi, we'll be landing soon. We found a village next to the ocean. We'll have to make the treck through the forest seperating the village from the ocean but we need the supplies and there might be a few survivors. Also, this way we won't have to lock up May after she turns." Darron said as he placed a hand on his sister's shoulder. His sister's health and happiness had been and were still his top priority.

His sister was his world and nothing would ever change that . Emi smiled and told May the good news. She was still sad that they would have to leave may behind, but they only had to find her cross and bring it to her so that she might strike her blade into the honor side. Then they could burn the cross and save her life. She only hoped that they could save everyone. She only wanted things to return to the way they had been. This outbreak was so horrific that it sometimes gave her nightmares.

They landed with ease and made their treck through the forrest with relative ease as well. Emi had placed a dark cloak on May so that the sunlight wouldn't worsen her condition. They only had a few hour till sunset so making the treck back to the ship tonight would be suicide. The infected came out at night, so they would want to find a place to rest. They found a nice inn and purchased a couple of rooms for the night. Darron and 5 others that had come with them took the infected from the ship and found them a place to stay. They then went searching for supplies.

They found quite a good haul while Emi, Sepia, and 3 trained gaurds went searching for survivors. They saw a man and woman coming to towards the village and smiled. Emi thought that perhaps they were like them, tryong to save the infected, by burning their crosses. But she was wrong, as she would soon find out.

Asher Moningdale smiled wickedly as she overlooked the village of Darinsveil. This village had once been the pinacle of the Marian's beliefs. The temples to their gods had been in this village, until Asher herself had ordered, and led the destruction of said temples. The large hill that she stood on was perfect to overlook the village, and that pathetic little doctor as she tried to save her pathetic people. Why couldn't they except that the days of old were over. That their humanity was over. They would never be able to beat Asher and the other council members.

She was becoming bored with the people. They were almost all turned, of course they couldn't all be turned otherwise the Larsharians would have no food source, but the refugees need not know that. She turned and left as she saw Emi look upon two other refugees on their way to the village. They were becoming a tiresome bother. Especially Emi, who worked day and night in an attempt to find a cure. It was irksome that someone so insignificant could be so close to bringing Asher's paradise to ruin.

Asher was the head of the female Lasharians. She was a bitter woman, which was understandable, considering that she had brought her husband, three children, and younger sister to Maria with her to seek refuge, and they were all slaughtered in front of her. But only fellow council members, and the select few that had been infected knew this. She had a fondness for one of the turned males named Aiden, but she never bothered him. While she was a bitter woman, and many Marians called her cruel, she would never force her attraction on anyone.

Asher made her way back swiftly, her black hooded cape shielding her from the light. It was so wretched that it made her sick to be in it. She had to keep tabs on that doctor though. She wasn't about to let all her hardwork be torn apart by some Marian doctor. She was back at the castle that many Lasharians called home. There must have been atleast 500 Lasharians living in the immense castle besides the council members. Asher was welcomed back by her personal maids. They had become dear to her, but Asher showed little emotion to anyone, so they never truly knew what she was thinking.

Sonya made a small face as she stuck tight to Chris's back. She had quite literally run into him, he had been running away from the one who called himself Aiden. Chris had ionterveened an pretty much saved her ass from becoming lunch. So now here she was, trying to keep up with himas he wound through near impentrable darkness. She dare not speak a word, she was still terrified from previous expierence.
--
Chris keapt looking over his shoulder, making sure the long haired girl was still behind him. He had watched the hunter hunt her for five minutes before he had saved her. His consious wouldn't allow him to not save her or die trying. His emeraled eyes flashed ahead of him. They were in the shadows now, he felt the most comfortable in the shadows. He was leading her, he didnt know where he was leading her. Away, he supposed, away from the hunter.
---
"Looks like you lost another one, hmm Aiden?" Eve teased from where she was leaning against the building casually, she was playing with her tarot deck. A smart ass smirk still gracing her lips as she watched the frusterated hunter.
---
Aiden spun to glare at the con girl.
"Don't you have anyone else to bother?" he snapped in a rare fit of rage. This was the third time this week. That damned guy, the greeneyed one, had steped in AGAIN. "The next time I see him, I'm ripping out his throat." He snarled to himself, his violet eyes flashing as he began to storm into the village.

Emi had managed to sneak away from Sepia for awhile. She had finished her rounds, and notified her brother that she was going to take a walk up the path to see If she could find any good herbs to use in medicine. Sure, medicine had advanced with technology, but technology could fail, and Emi was very cautious when it came to her patients. She sighed as she walked the path and noticed a patch of herbs that could be very helpful. She was researching the reaction of Infected victims to certain plants, with the help of her brother. She was doing everything she could to try and fight off the infection, and the Lasharan's knew it.

Emi may have been a sweet young women, but she was smart and could defend herself. She was also very close to finding a cure to the disease, though she didn't know this. She was doing everything she could to save her people, and that made her a threat to the Lasharan's. It also made her desireable to them. They weren't worried so much with killing her as they were turning her. She was a rare beauty, since green hair was hard to come by natrually, despite all the odd hair colors. It was as rare as Sepia's odd two tone light blue and platinum blonde.

Emi was not immune though so she had to be careful. Should she get any bodily fluids from and infected person in her system then she was doomed for infection. She had to be on her gaurd, and she was. Especially when she saw a very good looking pale skinned man coming towards the village in the quickly dimming light. She had to make sure that she stayed safe. She placed a hand on the shortswords at her hip as she put the herbs in a basket.

[NOTE: I've added a new breed type and small addition in the storyline. This is a half breed. Half breed's only have one violet eye and the other may be any color of your choice. For example Asher's half breed daughter will have a violet eye and a blue one. Oh and if you ask nicely then Sweetling might put purple eyes on any Lasharan you have. But it's up to her.]

Richard looked at the big town and checked to make sure he still had his sword and then urged the horse on. He found a place and tied up the horse and got down from it and helped Kahlan down . He then took a look around the place and said "keep your eyes open never know when trouble could come our way". he took her hand in his and lead her into the small cafe like place. They found a place by a window and sat down . Soon a waiter came and took their orders. For Richard it was a pot roast with veggies and for Kahlan who does not eat meat some cheese and bread with veggies.

Kahlan looked at Richard and said "I hope we do not find any of the infected here would like some rest but as you said i will keep my eyes open". She took a look around the small cafe and noted if this place got attacked it would not take long for all the people to become infected for there were not that many. she hoped this did not come about. she looked back at Richard as their food come and gave him a smile and started to eat her food.
