Demotion, great.. He thinks to himself as he grabs the form and leaves the room, crumpling it up and throwing it in the nearest recycling bin. He reports to the armory, grabbing his rifle and putting his helmet on before going down to Cell Block C to start his shift for the day.

Since Garner had left early, they had precisely fifteen minutes for Miller and Candice to talk over how the day would probably go. The theater would be emptied by the time they returned, so they made plans to visit the different cell blocks after Dr. Vera's evaluation, then commencing with more reevaluations. They were chatting when a soft knock on the door pulled Candice's attention and she stood, striding to the steel door and opening it to Dr. Cecily.

"Dr. Cecily," she nodded, beckoning her inside, please have a seat.

Angry heels clicked against the tiled floor as the cool headed blonde made her way down the halls. Before long, she was in the Cell B Block offices, and watching a disgruntled guard leave the room before hustling off to his post. Zandra gave it a couple moments before wrapping her knuckles against the door gently before the door opened.

“Candice.” The blonde nodded, elegantly moving into the room and sitting in the opposite chair of the two. Crossing her legs, and resting her hands on top of each other while she patiently waited for Candice to commence with the evaluation.

Candice closed the door and took her seat, mimicking Dr. Cecilys posture.

"This evaluation should only take a few minutes,"she explained, "the work you put in is good, and the reports we receive are flawless. You really do have a handle on your department. However, we've received a number of complaints from your scientists of you being over harsh, egotistical or ignoring rights such as breaks and overtime."

"While we commend your efforts for maximum efficiency," Miller jumped in, "running your scientists into the group will likely have them quitting, and it is not easy to find staff for this specialized facility."

He was obviously trying to sound proffessional, but Candice noticed the glare on his face that kept sending daggers at Zandra.

"Ahem," she cleared her throat, trying to pull Zandras attention from him, "we will need you to create a schedule for your scientists, so that they have coordinated breaks. That should silence them. Otherwise Dr. Cecily, your doing amazing work here, especially on the Pen."

"The boards new lap dog," Miller muttered under his breath as Candice bent over to grab a memo from her briefcase, missing his statement.

"This outlines what they can expect from you and what you expect from them," Candice continued, "honestly Dr. Cecily there is little else to note. Is there any inquiries you have? Any complaints or compliments for staff in this facility?"

Boards Review

Tag: Candice, Miller.

The blonde watched Candice with a sharpened awareness. Listening, Zandra smothered the unprofessional chuckle that wanted to bubble up. Nodding, the doctor’s eyes watched her intently. Adjusting her hands, the doctor’s folded hands revealed a small white notebook. Placing it on the table, pages open to reveal several pages of names and notes.

“I appreciate the praise, but I do not reward slackers in my office. When work is being put aside to sit and play Candy Crush, and experiment’s aren’t being properly executed. I’ve had far too many test’s that have either been pertinently ruined from the lack of attention and care towards the work. If they cannot do the work to a minimum of 100% of their power, then they do not deserve breaks, or to be awarded for negligence in my lab. I have brought up the need to fire those names in that booklet, and have been rejected on the sheer factor that the staff is… needed” Zandra stated, her voice emotionless and void of any need to care for her staff.

“I’ve asked result’s from them, and watched them on the cameras, they don’t perform the tasks asked and are quite obviously incompetent when I’ve needed to clean up the work.” She scoffed, her thick blood beginning to boil. Eyebrows lifted, and eyes shifting back to Miller sternly before looking back at Candice.

“It would save me the time of firing them.” Preferably out of a cannon. That was a thought to keep to herself though. “It’s hard to run incompetence into the ground when they’re not working as is.”

Her tone was harsh, but true. Zandras sharp line of sight glared Millers way for a brief moment before returning back to Candice.

“I’m more than happy to give my scientist’s their breaks when they do well – and the ones who do indeed work well with me and within my expectations get as much leniency as possible.” Dr. Cecily stated, her hands residing back to their normal place of residency – her knee. “Those are my only comment’s on my staff.”

Candice nodded along, taking the notebook and briefing through it, "if you will allow me, can I keep this until the end of evaluations. I will look closely into these names and those I deem need firing will be fired. You may be short staffed in the department for a short while, but rest assured we will look into better staffing. Thank you Dr. Cecily."

"As you can tell from my colleague," Miller added, hiding the unenthusement of being stuck in a room with her, "we see great work from you and want to continue it that way. Therefor you will be getting a two dollar raise in your salary. And those in the Board want to thank you for your work in private o. The Pen."

"That will be all from us," Candice included, "Thank you Zandra."

Turning to Miller she nodded to her, "If you are still alright with tracking down Dr. Vera and giving her evaluation, I will take the tour of the cell blocks. I would like to see what has changed in the year."

"Of course Candice. I will see you around lunch?"

"Yes, noon will be fine. Feel free to conduct some of the evaluations without me. I may see to a couple of them myself."

"Good."

Candice then turned back to Dr. Cecily and smiled, "Dr.Cecily, is there anything else before we finish here? Miller can escort you out when you are ready."

Wrapping up the short yet informative revaluation, Miller walked Zandra out while Candice cleaned up her notes, but left her briefcase in the room. She’d be back at lunch to hold a few more evaluations she was sure. Miller and her weren’t perturbed to travel to the doctor’s offices, but in order to evaluate any of the nurses or guards, only the interrogation room would work. Grabbing her cell phone and her keys, she left, swiping her card attached to her key chain to lock the door on her way out. With a turn and a click of her heels she set off to tour the facility.

[Arriving from Amphitheater – post #36]

There wasn’t much to do while Rupinder Vera waited for her evaluation to begin. She had no feelings of worry or anxiety about what might occur. Her performance had improved since last year, she had the least amount of patient deaths, and had been tantamount in getting certain patients to cooperate with their doctors and nurses more. There was however just a slight pang of dread within her, which Rupi worked hard to supress. The only thing that could topple this Head of Psychoanalysis was the discovery of a certain illicit tryst she was having with a wolf down in Block C. But that was too relatively new and recent for the Board to know, wasn’t it? And besides, Rupi knew how to cover her tracks far better than any other doctor.

Sitting in her lofty leather chair, Rupi began to organize her case files for the day, for despite the evaluation she still had a rigorous schedule to work through. Patients needed to be visited and in turn, evaluated by her. There were certain files that needed updating given the new batch of information from other departments, such as Science. Rupi wondered how Zandra was holding up, whether she was being chewed out for her overly austere outlooks on work and success or, more humorously to Rupi, if the Board was being chewed out in turn by Zandra for wasting her time. It certainly felt like one to Rupi as she waited for her own summons.

Zandra’s head nodded sharply, her clear blue eyes watching Candice with a certain analytical thought process behind it.

“Fire as you please, I’m short handed as is with their lack of work and progress.” Her tone was sharp, the slightest of a note holding a certain joy to see many leaving her staff.

The blonde nodded, her eyes almost sharpening on Miller. “Well, when you talk to the board, tell them it should be 15 minimum with the overtime I’ve been working. All the hours are logged on various different drives, both public to the board and private.” She comment, lifting a brow with a rather unimpressed look but simply leaving that as it was. With a nod, Zandra stood.

“Lovely seeing you again Candice.” She spoke, turning ready to dismiss herself when Candice placed her under Millers escort.

Her heels clicked – the sound rather haunting to the ears.

“Enjoying being the escort today?” She asked, her arms crossed and her tone beyond freezing as they begun to walk towards her lab.

[Arriving from Amphitheater]

"Dr Gregor? Where are we going?" Jaime asked as they moved along the halls with purpose. Gregor had stopped only long enough to send a message to another department. When they were approaching the science offices, Jaime had the growing sense of dread. This...was not going to end well.

They swept into the science office. A startled lookinng tech looked up to see them.
"May I...help you?" He asked.
"The Gorgon goggles." Greogr answered quickly.
"Um, those require a priority access from Dr. Zandra, and her voice code. If you'd like to fill out this form-"
"I don't have time for this. Move." Gregor waved a hand as another man entered, dressed in the coveralls of the maintenance department, with a large dolly behind him, laden with tanks.
"Um, I don't think Dr. Zandra would-"
"Dr. Zandra has been overruled, watch." Grregor swiped a card over the reader, adn a line of text rolled over the check out screen.

'Priority override, Board of Director Authority'

"Um..." The tech was at a loss, but hadn't moved from blcking access to the door.
"Move, or by all the Gods and their mothers, you'll be removed of this position, and checked into Cell Block C." Gregor promised. The man paled, and stepped aside. As much as Zandra scared him, there was no way he'd risk being tossed intot he bowels of this place. And a man carrying a card that offered a BOD override might well be able to make good on that.

"This the stuck door?" THe maintenance man asked.
"Cut the door open. And alert security to post someone down here. We're not savages after all. Can't have the place plundered." Gegor mused as the man lit the torch he'd been carrying. A few moments later the torch was in used.

Sparks flew, and the man knew his work, neatly shearing through the lock and hinges, letting hte door to the secure storage room fall with a clang. Gregor stepped in, and looked around at all of the things there, knowing that any one of them woudl be a problem as far as Zandra was concerned to be loose without her say so. But he found what he wanted, a case that had the goggles he needed in it. Of courtse it had been locked as well, Zandra being sharp enough to keep those secrured farther. Gregor brought the case out, adn had the latch cheared off with the torch, thus availing himself tot he contents. He smiled as he lifted the goggles, all of them, and then handed half to Jaime.

"Come. We've work to do."

They left the room, Jaime not sure what to make of this rather brazen show of defiance.

As they left he noticed a growing line near the interogattion room. Stepping up to the first her asked what the fuss was about. Reevalutations was the answer. Laughing, Miller announced that they all disperse. "We will come to you when its needed. Please continued your normal schedules."

With them all leaving, he focused on getting her to where she needed, asking if she had any question left. It was all proffesional as thye spoke, and when they reached the science area of the labs he left her there.

"I should track down Dr. Vera," he explained, "See you around Zandra."

The blonde couldn’t help the snide laugh that left her lips once she laid eyes on the line. How stupid were these people? Really? It had already been discussed about the process of the evaluations. Once Miller had dismissed all of the soon to be rejects, did Zandra’s eyes lay back onto the ex CIA.
From there, they talked more about work and the upcoming projects along with the success’s she’d had personally in the lab. The doctor couldn’t help but hide some of the enthusiasm towards her work. Their chat ended on a rather clean note once she’d finally found her usually pristine lab – nodding Miller off.

“Good luck. She deserves a good review as an FYI.” The doctor nodded.

Dr. Vera's Office
Tags: Rupi

Miller found her office easily enough and knocked quietly, waiting outside the door. When he heard the answering greeting he opened it and stepped in, closing it softly. Turning he smiled at the Head of Psychoanalysis, taking in her office. She had definitely changed a few decorations but otherwise it was the same as the year before.

"Dr. Vera," he nodded, smiling at him, "I hope your morning is going well. Don't worry, this should take no more than fifteen to twenty minutes tops, so I won't impede on your day any longer. Candice will not be conducting this evaluation with me. She decided to tour the facility first, than meet with the Head of Staff. May I sit?"

The knock on the door caused a lance of annoyance in Rupinder Vera, though she had a pretty good idea of who it might be. Not Nysa, as the siren would have added a melody to her knock. No, this was more serious and blunt. “Come in.” She stated without taking her eyes from her papers, her pen scribbling furiously as she wrote down notes and copied reports. She didn’t bother glancing up as Robert Miller strode into her office with a greeting, ignoring his smile and promises of hastiness. He was ex-CIA and Rupi knew from the onset never to trust his sort, regardless of how much they buttered up their appearances or words.

“You don’t need my permission to do so.” Rupi said in a way of greeting to his request to sit, clicking his pen and setting it down on her desk as she finally deigned to look up. She had rather hoped it would be Candice Whitehorn she saw. “My morning is fine, thank you. You may dispense with the pleasantries, Mr. Miller.” Rupi said, giving him a serious expression and emphasizing his status as not being a doctor and thus one of them. “The sooner we conduct this evaluation, the sooner I can get back to my work. What criticisms do you have for me this year, hm?” She inquired, sitting with a rigid posture, her smooth caramel legs crossed under the desk.

He was here early, which meant the evaluation with Zandra must have gone good. That, or she give them so much hell they simply fled her presence. Rupi knew a little of the history between Miller and Zandra. How the girl genius could have put up with this enigmatic man, Rupi did not know. Nor did she want to.

Dr. Vera's Office
Tags: Rupi

Miller sat down with a soft grunt, groaning on the inside. So it was going to be this kind of interview. Sometimes he just wished the doctor's would play along and be pleasant, maybe make it even slightly enjoyable. But Dr. Vera was all business. So he became too, pulling out two pieces of paper from his briefcase and holding them in his lap.

"Very well Dr. Vera," he started, knowing she was expecting a plathora of complaints, so he switched things around and looked down at his notes, "'I made a breakthrough with patient DD9986 today. He opened up about his past. With this information we can work through more of his anger issues, and I see him being in Block A in no time.' 'AK8866 shows progressive improvement. She is honest, non hostile, and eager to oblige. She has easily been promoted and I see no problems arising from her.' This one is from a nurse, 'Patient AK8866 mentioned today her enjoyment working with Dr. Vera. To her accounts, the doctor is fair and strict, but also patient.'"

He continued reading, going down the page of exerts from Dr. Vera's own notes of her breakthroughs and victories, and patient accounts of the doctor, all positive. Then he moved to the second page and read out three simple complaints. One had been from Dr. Arellano, one had been from an angry patient that had then calmed and asked to retract their statement, which Miller also read out, and the last had been from a staff member under her department that she had fired, obviously just bitter.

"The last doesn't account for much. You fired him for good reasons. So I have this," he handed her the page of positive reviews, " and this."

He handed her the other page with only one complaint that was accountable.

"Needless to say, I'm not here to scold you today Dr. Vera."

Rupi had steeled herself for the usual wall of complaints and disagreements with her way of conducting her work. Most doctors, in fact all of them except her, preferred two usual methods. One, employing fear and terror to get patients to cooperate or two, employing cruel scientific treatments that either left the patient dead or severely broken and changed. They all insisted it produced results, where as Rupi did her work differently. She employed mental manipulation in getting patients to cooperate without recourse to violence or slicing them up. However, often her work involved being cooperative herself, which many saw as weakness or against company policy.

She remained still and unmoving as Robert Miller read off her own notes and reports on various patients. For a moment her heart stopped when patient AK8866, Akila, was mentioned. Other than Dr. Funer, she was one of the few who knew of Rupi’s true status as a vampire, having fed off of her many times. She was relieved though with Akila apparently said nothing of the sort, except that she was strict. I’ll be sure to reward the pet for her loyalty she thought to herself, before narrowing her eyes slightly at the mention of complaints. None seemed to hold weight however. Dr. Arellano could say what he wanted, but Rupi had at least a dozen of her own complaints and from patients against him. The other two were simply shrugged off.

Reaching over, she snatched the single complaint from Miller’s hand and gazed over it, before simply dropping the paper onto her desk with a casual sense of uncaring. She had said nothing nor changed her expression from the guarded face of a psychiatrist, merely observing and watching the other man before her. “No? That is a surprise then. I would have imagined this page,” she stabbed her finger down on the complaint, “to be much longer. Many here think my Department is useless and just a waste of funds. I’m surprised you or the other Board members don’t agree, given your little show of strength and personnel changes. If I'm not to be scolded, what am I supposed to make then of all the changes and upheavals that have been promised?” Rupi inquired back, her brow slightly furrowed as she gazed at Robert Miller. She felt a small desire to want to learn what made this man’s brain tick, what influenced his motives and actions, and so forth, as if he was just a common patient as well.

Dr. Vera's Office

Miller allowed her the papers, knowing he had spare notes in her briefcase. She seemed interested yet slightly confused in both reports of her actions over the year. Her comments made him raise an eyebrow and shake his head at her, however, wondering why they had this conversation every year.

"Your department is essential for running the other three, and your work is essential on understanding these creatures. We would not shut anything down. As it is, we do not have the spare funds to expand your department, but there will not be budget cuts this year. We are offering you a two dollar raise to your salary, if you wish to remain Head of your department? The changes we spoke of will happen more so in the low tiers, with the nurses and guards. As well there are a few doctors we will not be keeping. You will want to see to hiring two new therapists, by the way."

He cocked hi head slightly and raised his chin, looking down over his nose at her and wondering if she had any information.

Rupi was unimpressed. A two dollar raise? Not very significant to her already sufficient paycheque from the Institution. It wouldn’t even be a noticeable bump to her income. No, there was another meaning behind it. She very much assumed she was being given this small compensation in order to keep her mouth shut about all the changes and not complain. She still sat rigid and upright, clearly unmoved by the offer of a raise. She particularly didn’t like the patients referred to as creatures. What does that make me, bloodsucker that I am?

“I’m glad we can be on the same page for once.” Rupi replied after a moment of silence. “My department, regardless of what others think, is indeed essential for breakthroughs with our patients. But I’m understaffed and overworked here. You offer me a two dollar raise. I say keep it and let me hire three more therapists instead of two, including a complement of nurses to assist them. I can’t keep producing these results given the large quantity of patients we possess with the staff I have. Everyone simply cannot receive the due process and attention they require.” She knew for a fact Zandra would be making cuts to her department. She didn’t want to impede on her friend’s budget and funds, but if she was downsizing her science department, couldn’t they upsize the psychiatry department instead?

“Just think about it, Miller. I’m not asking for a decision now. Go and speak to Candice and the other Board members. If there isn’t anything else…” Rupi finished, picking up her pen again and clicking it, though she paused before writing as she gazed at Miller. It was an obvious dismissal, for this conversation seemed pointless at this stage. The evaluation was essentially done. Rupi and her department were doing fine so there was no longer any need to worry. All she wanted was to get back to work. The first patient on her list, Tessa, had been recently admitted and what the initial reports suggested were…interesting, especially from a therapist point of view.

"You know that is adequate, seeing as you get a review and raise every six months Dr. Vera. As for expanding your department, I will discuss it but I make no promises. There will cuts in staff in the next couple of days, so you may need to prepare for new staff anyways."

"Have a pleasant day Dr. Vera. Until tomorrow," he rose as she dismissed him, deciding better than to make a scene. It was his choice to leave, not hers, but she did indeed have plenty of work. Collecting his things he stepped to the door then turned back to look at her before opening it and stepping out. Shutting the door quietly, he caught the text message and hurried off towards the elevators.

Rupi sighed as Miller departed her office, her request for greater funding and expansion of her department no doubt shot down with the usual corporate ramble. There would be cuts, but no new resources to be allocated to her department. It didn’t matter if she was understaffed and overworked. They knew she could excel with the meager resources she had and would continue to make her excel at that standard most likely. Why change something that isn’t broken? She remained seated for a few moments longer, preparing a new file for a certain patient named Tessa who recently arrived, before rising and moving to depart herself. The evaluations had turned out entirely unpredicted and unexpected for her, with both positive aspects and negative ones.

The elevator was her next stop, a guarded expression upon her face as usual as she keyed the button for Cell Block C.

[Arriving from Block A]

The door opened and she felt Kaige tense, obviously ready for a fight. This one had been in Block C too long. She pulled her forward, stepping out.

"Nysali. What are you up to?"

"Hey baby," she purred, bouncing up to him and kissing him on the cheek, "I'm just giving this cute redhead a tour. Got orders."

He tried to remain annoyed looking but she could see the smile cracking through. They always fell for her charms, "Why does she need a tour of Block B?"

Nysa cocked her head to one side, "How else is she suppose to find her appointments? Or would you like to tell Arellano you made his patient late?"

The guard's eyes widened a bit, "Fine Nysa. But no trouble."

She grabbed Kaige's hand and dragged her forward, quickly pulling them into the next hallway and out of sight, "Well that was easy. C'mon Red, you wanted offices you got it. And there's still a little payment in order sugar."

They turned into a long hallway full of doors and Nysa stopped, letting Kaige see, "Tada."

Arriving from Cell Block A – post #98

Rupi strode briskly out of the elevator, not casting a glance to see if Akila was following. The girl ought to be, if she knew what was good for her. Fortunately for her, she would not have to endeavor much to catch up to the caramel skinned doctor, who paused suddenly when she came upon a very strange sight. A guard marched silently past Rupi and Akila, his face passive, as behind him stood both Nysa…and Kaige. The presence of the siren didn’t surprise but Rupi but the pyro witch? Rupi expected the woman to still be in Block C. How did she get up here?

And more importantly, why was she with Nysa of all people? Rupi suddenly had a sinking feeling of despair, yet a tingle of bemusement as well.

She cleared her throat loudly and approached both women from behind. “Is there something you two ladies want to share with me?” Rupi inquired with a stern tone, though a small smile tugged at her lips as she looked from Nysa towards Kaige. “You must have worked miracles, Ms. Mayfair, if you managed to reach this floor so quickly in the short time since I saw you. And you, Nysali. Do you not have an appointment with the new Dr. Gregor today?” She asked, her grey eyes settling on Nysa, suspecting her of being the main culprit behind whatever they were doing in this section, without oversight.

She followed her out of the elevators, head bowed and lips pressed together in silence. She followed the click of her heels, not looking up till Dr. Vera stopped abruptly. Up ahead was the new girl, Kaige, and none other than Nysali.

"Hey doc," Nysa smiled, giving her a flirtatious smile, "I got specific orders from one big boss lady to tour this girl around. No one told me Candy was going to visit. Don't worry Dr. Vera, this little Red is behaving. For now."

Cell Block B may have looked a lot like A, but there was certainly a different vibe to it. It was apparent the moment the doors opened. The guard, ready and alert, quickly focused on Nysa. Though he seemed at ease with her, it was clear, at least to Kaige, that he didn’t trust, nor care, for her. She remained quiet, letting Nysa do all the talking. Getting demoted to C was not on her agenda for the day, and already she had come dangerously close to it. The guard seemed to fall under her spell. Did she have that way with everyone?

As they walked away, Kaige was about to ask her what was her powers when she heard someone else speaking to them. She said the first thing that came to mind. “I always do Rump Rupi. You would know that if you spent any real time with me.” She gave her a wink and an overly animated attempt to look around at her rear. “Oh and I’m not on this floor. You see, my magic is so fucking good I made it all the way to Cell Block A.” She brought her fingernails up to her lips, blew on them, and flipped her hair over her shoulder. “I am….that good baby. Nysa here is my tour guide, and she’s showing me the offices. That way I’ll know my around, and when I’m late for my shifts to help the docs and appointments, you know all that boring shit that you KNOW I’m gonna fuck up, I can’t say I didn’t know where they were.” Kaige shrugged, with her eyes wide. “Nysa is very….thorough. I’ll have to thank her for that.” Her smile grew.

Looking past her, she caught sight of the girl from before. “Well slap my ass and call me Sally. It’s you! I thought you was on lockdown for that shit in the cafeteria.” Kaige would never say it, but she was glad to see the girl out of her cell.

Nysa linked her arm through Kaige's, surprised at this new side of the redhead, but enjoying it. She put on her best smile too, knowing Dr. Vera would more than likely be skeptical of them, "Oh your very welcome little Red, its been a pleasure. Romp Rupi is it now? I like that much more than Dr. Vera."

She winked at the doctor, leaning her head over with the pyro to see who she was talking to, "Wait...she's on lockdown? Did you finally snap sweetheart?"

Akila looked away from both of them, "Dr. Vera is taking me to her office to receive punishment...for what I did."

“But you didn’t,” she began, catching herself as she starred at the girl. “You didn’t serve your two days in your cell. So I guess this is a way to settle things then. You come down here and let Rump Rupi handle your punishment. What does she do? Make you squeeze her ass before she licks your pussy? Sounds real horrible,” she mocks, rolling her eyes.

“Come on kitten. Show me..show me…..” Kaige looks towards the doors, swallowing, making sure her nerves are steady before going on. “Show me..Rufio’s office. I wanna see it. Bet he’s one sick puppy in there too.” A forced smile took her lips as she looked over to Nysa. “Besides we’ve still got to take care of that thing I promised you. I’d tell you Rumpy, but that wouldn’t make me a very good person now would it if I went around spilling secrets?”

She pulled Nysa heading away from them, even if she didn’t know where she was going. “Just keep walking kitten and show me the way. Anything to get away from the doc and her creepy little side kick back there. I can only stand so much crazy in this place everyday, and I think I’m about at my limit for today.”
