Call it depression, suicidal, tendencies, wishful female pms, or a late in life emo stage but - Lilly was just unhappy. She was out among the ground and plant Pokémon in her lab’s reserve in Kanto. Working in studying the recent pollination of jumpluff. The recent population explosion was far from a negative thing to have happen but, this reserve attempted to allow Pokémon live feral without the domestication of humans.

Not that it stopped the Victreebel that seemed to always find her hiding spot and insist on staying near. Many of the Pokémon who they cared for did so despite Lilly attempting to remain aloof when she was in the reserve away from her pristine lab.

“That’s why humans like Pokémon soo much…you seem to accept all of us.” Lilly sighed stroking the large bulb body before she looked at her hand. It was buzzing a shimmer and electricity surrounding the hand. It spread up her arm as the Victreebel seemed to realize something and attempt to pull her closer with its vines. The jumppuff calling out and becoming more excited.

The buzz didn’t hurt but she felt herself becoming light headed. “Security! I need a pick up to medical asap!” Lilly touched the communication link on the brown vest over her heavily padded chest but her hand didn’t seem to connect to anything. Now the buzz had formed a light and she can see it gleaming through her skin everywhere.

———

Lilly woke up remembering the last thing she saw and heard was the clingy victteebel clinging to her. She stood up on shaky legs from the ground and gazed out her surroundings.

It wasn’t the nature reserve but it was nature. Flower petals tickled her skin above the socks and boots. She glanced at herself and from what she could see she was still in the short white labcoat, kaki shorts, hiking boots and socks, and the sage tank she wore beneath her coat for days she knew she would be in the heat most of the day. The tablet she had been recording data on was gone as well as the jumping and Victreebel. The glenn she stood in was “stunning” as the smell of flora touched her nose she also smelled water. Walking forward to the glimmer she saw she found a small pond.

Looking inside it looked like any other calm body of water. It was depressing because just like the mirror at her home it showed Lilly a reflection she didn’t want to see. A flat chest that just didn’t pull off the impression she wanted with the padding. A square jawline that her make up couldn’t correct. The still too short blonde hair that skirted her ear lobes. The thick thighs and lack of curves that belonged to the image before her didn’t feel like home. Lilly closed her golden brown eyes. “I guess however weird this situation is - I’m still weird me…” she didn’t have to look any harder anywhere else to know she still had a body that didn’t “fit”.

Lilly sighed and looked around. She wasn’t going to simply sit around. And this was a beautiful place without any sounds or signs of Pokémon or human. Curiosity overtook Lilly and she began to walk forward.

Another fight. A Nidoran looked to take over his territory again. As the two charged at one another there was a part of the Nidoran that knew he would loose. This was the furthest part of the territory he tried to claim and it was difficult to manage even if it was heavy with food. He just had to keep his den safe for it he ever found a female to shelter there.

Another attack. His back leg went out and his face became slashed. Even getting back to his den would be difficult.

Nido saw an opening and took it. Charging on the other beast’s exposed back corner as he glanced at his female triumphantly. Nido charges and he was successful. He sent the other male back into a tree. But, it didn’t feel like a win. That male’s female came to his aid. They touched noses and offered comfort and confidence and then he saw the light…they became a Nidorano and Nidorina. They were beautiful.

Nidoran became angry. Furious. Enraged. He charged to both but this time the female met him head on. Her horn now longer and stronger than his. She sent Nido through a smaller tree. His insides howled in pain. A spike on his back cracked and he slumped entirely in pain. Do not want alone…

Nidoran passed out. He didn’t even see what happened to his body or the newly evolved competition.

Nidoran woke up with a human leaning over him. They smelled like female but looked strange.

He bolted up to fight and protect himself. Humans were bad. Dangerous. He growled at the strange female who looked at him sadly as he fell and would stand again. Fall. Stand again. After the fourth fall he stayed down exhausted. “It’s ok…you are injured.” He had something soft and wet on several parts of his body. He looked at his back leg and noticed the strange green substance.

Lilly had found the injured Nidoran not far from where she woke. He was so badly injured. She had managed to use flora to make a splint for his cracked spike and salve from herbs that appeared to be the same as Kanto. She had torn her labcoat to create bandages when he woke up. Unlike the plant Pokémon she was use to in the reserve he defiantly wasn’t clingy to her. “You’re injured little guy and this isn’t Kanto.” Lilly understood that especially feral Pokémon understood tone over words so she tried to remain calm. She opened her hands and showed some of the berries she found. She rolled them towards where he was slumped in pain and kneeled a few steps away. A dozen shallow breaths and he took the time to eat. A few more breaths and she skiddled back. She found large leaves she made a makeshift bowl. She brought over water and again placed it just in reach then backed up. He growled again but was quicker to take the fluid.

“You need somewhere safe to rest…”

She isn’t as bad as humans. But she smells weak. She needs a protector. Nido puffed out his chest feeling better after the food, water and care. He let Lilly bandage him even if he eyes her skeptically for a Pokémon. She made a motion to pick him ip and he growled and charged at her ankle. There wasn’t any actual force in it. But, it showed he was unhappy. He wasn’t a newborn. She couldn’t pick him up. He backed away again. She tried to say something but, he didn’t understand. But, when her shoulders sagged and she began to leave him he trailed after.

Lilly kept slow so Nidoran could follow. She had just intended to find him a hollowed out tree he could be safe to rest. Instead he insisted on following. Never going where she directed. She took breaks more often. Noon there didn’t seem to be much heat for midday but she stopped to feed them both.

It was Nidoran who heard the nearby disturbance first and moved in front of Lilly.

“Hey keep that thing on a leash if it’s going to be a pissant.” Archie harshly reprimanded. “What hood is a stupid Nidoran anyways? Get something that actually is something.” Archie came out of the bush brushing himself off. He had been going around in circle till he heard this crazy broad talking to herself. Archie looked her over while the pipsqueak still glared at him. Something was off.

Lilly tried to hug Nindoran close to her as she became sensitive under the guys look. “He’s perfectly fine. You just scared him.”

She defended Nindoran. Than heavens he let her pick him up. His hid part of her body hid hers but, the fact she was able to lift what was known as a heavy Pokémon just made Archie raise his brow. “If you get rid of the make up you can join me and my boys if you’re able to lug around that fat boy.” Archie commented. “Don’t say things like that about him.” Lilly defended the pokemon not herself.

“Look - how the fuck did we get here? I was installing a ground wire in a restaurant’s kitchen and now I’m wherever the fuck this is.” He shrugged.

“I’m not sure. I was walking with the nidoran towards that cliff. I figured if we get high we can figure out where we are.” A sound plan even if it seemed like a lot of work. He looked down to the watch on his wrist but the time had stayed still since he woke up. He frowned. He had a game in two hours when he was…whatever the shit happened…

“Alright let’s going. I got a helmet to smash in the endzone.” Archie walked ahead of them taking the lead. Lilly frowned looking at Nindoran. This was the first human she found. Nindoran went to the ground but over before the two walked in step half a dozen steps behind Archie who hadn’t made a friend in their interactions.

Archie was raised like most traditional macho males. He had been involved in American football, rugby, baseball, and hockey since he was a kid. His father didn't have goals to push his son towards besides follow in his footsteps. He didn't approve of Archie's "pro footballer" dream at 19. He thought he should settle down and start a family while focusing on the business like his father before him. But Archie hung on for his dream even if he stayed on day to day with his dad's business.

He had been working on the restaurant kitchen wiring for three days with two others of his dad's business. This was a big and serious project for him. But, Archie was distracted. The game to take them to the regionals was tonight. He wanted to end quickly and prepare. He hadn't been just "laying a ground wire" when he began to feel weird. He had been arguing on the phone with his father that they were going to end the day early. He didn't know what happened or what his father last heard.

Another duo found each other in the water.

There was a duo who found each other when Kilea found herself waking in unfamiliar waters. Literally. She woke up in a current being taken down faster than she could catch her awareness of. Even if as a surfer she was accustomed to rough waters this was shocking. The Vaporeon was happily swimming in the strange new waters with their beautiful reef. She saw the human struggling and went to her.

This human was apt at swimming once she was in calmer waters but they were both tired fighting against the current. They stayed in the beach for along time before managing to communicate that they should go to higher ground. Vaporeon did wonder where her usual waters went.

Charmeleon sneezed. They were thankful for being out of the rain that even their cave couldn't protect them from - but it wasn't safe enough. Their fire at the tail didn't feel strong enough. Their tail should support a stronger fire. If it didn't it meant they were sick. But, right now that fire was weak and they were on a beach. They needed to get to
Higher ground d and safety. They sensed source of heat in the mountain like structure ahead of them.

The sun wasn’t at an angle that anyone could understand how much time passed. But it took each half a day to get to that place. Since they were called there was a force calling them. The humans may logic it out and the Pokémon may just remain calm and travel to “safe” environments.

But, all six actually united together. Arriving from various sides of a hexagon exterior. The Nindoran walked close to Lilly while Archie charged forward spouting off how he was going to find who brought them here and beat them till he’s home. The Vaperon and blonde female walked side by side cheerfully coming from the southern side. Meanwhile, the Charmeleon lingered back lightening shadows in the tunnel keeping from the others seeing them.

The six wouldn't know it til after it was too late to change anything, but they were being watched all the while. The source of the strange goings-on were not natural, but as of yet it wasn't obvious that what had happened was as extreme as it was. Especially the Pokemon that didn't have quite the same level of realization as the humans who had studied science and could tell when something was not behaving as expected. Physics, quite simply, was going to take a break while their immediate area was going to be undergoing some extreme remodeling, sculpted in the image of what amounted to a being with god-like power.

An intruder into their universe, from one that was vastly different than their own, had come seeking a new playground. Nothing malicious, just playful, though without regard for how it would upend the lives of anyone they came across if it wished to add them to its collection, or mold them into a shape they did not care to assume. To that end, it also wanted to have a menagerie to gather its new possessions, and uplifted a ten-mile radius section of this forested area, with a few other geographical features just for variety, into the air, raising it over a mile into the air. This phenomenon is what made Lilly fall unconscious, and while the rest of the island now hovering, slowly gliding over its former landmass while those down below struggled to comes to grip with what they were witnesses, the changes did not end there. Rivers and streams that were now cascading over the edges were magically renewed, with endless water generating to keep them from running dry. Plantlife strengthened, regrowing with rapid speed to ensure no shortage of food for the remaining life was to be had.

This deity - or was it a demon? - kept a watchful eye on the denizens of the island that had been unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sure, it could have looked around and chosen some more appealing targets but it was also somewhat impatient. This world was also very fascinating compared to where it had come from. These humanoid creatures, and their diverse wildlife, 'Pokemon', it fascinated the being that in some perverse way, its own appearance was almost like that of a human if combined with some species of Pokemon. And that was what gave it the idea to do what it decided.

Having chosen a handful of both humans and Pokemon to remake in its own image, it drew them there, whether they were consciously aware of it, rather than visiting them personally one by one. It wasn't like it would make much difference, they would be powerless in the face of the wild-haired, horned humanoid if the male-presenting trickster stalked and hunted them. Instead, a glowing magical pillar humming, giving out brief flashes of light that would interest anyone in coming near to find out what the source of the mystery is. While they would not yet see what was coming, the ground beneath the pillar was seeded with what would grow into an elegant palatial manor, a majestic estate befitting the status of its master.

As the six neared it, unaware of their fates being about to change, the pillar enacted the magic that it had for changing living things according to its creator's will. With a particularly bright flash of light, the air itself would take on a shimmering, crystal-like sheen, as if glitter had replaced the water vapor and dust in the air. Only, it didn't remain that way, instead condensing in certain patterns, namely encircling each of the visitors to that spot. It melded together, solidifying and no longer able to be seen through, and much like before, each of them would not be able to remain conscious, except this time when they woke up, it would not be in the bodies they had before.

A rumble came from her throat. She was feeling better. Warmer. Pleasantly so. And something was under her nose. It felt like the florals from her birth nest. But, she hadn't smelled this in so long. Her claws reached out while she was still tired and scooped up the floral smell. It was soft thing. Charmeleon tried to rub itself against the floral lump. But, something else was nudging her away. She could hear a growl and whimper.

Lilly herself we'd just beginning to wake. She was burning up and constrained on one side. There was also a soft nudge pushing her one way. "Leave me alone…" She groaned while attempting to twist away. There was a louder scuffle growing behind her. She started hearing growling and hissing.

What happened was the sleepy Pokémon already disconnected to their new bodies woke up to a sweet attractive scent of Lilly and her warmth. Nido already recognizes Lilly's underlaying scent from their first meeting. So even as they were stumbling with their new strange form they wanted to defend her in the strange way the former human looked. Now they smelled even better. Their human was in danger. There was a fire type and another poison along with other strange Pokémon surrounding her. He started hitting the dangerous fire pokemon who could get the leaves they saw on her back first.

The fire dragon woke up and growled. Something sweet and warm like it was there to be cuddled. And soo soft. But, it was hit.

Commotion began to erupt. Lilly woke up to the snake pulling her down and wrapping her up. It was actually still asleep but, it too seemed to like her smell. An electrical jolt went off in the throne room and rapid chittering squeaks. When the water splashing set off more. A vaperon making small sounds and touching herself in confusion. But, her usual abilities were acting strange and she was sending waves of water unintended. A spray it hit a Raichu looking Pokémon - Vaperon backed away but, lightening shock hit the snake and in that moment Lilly managed to get free.

She squirmed and raced looking for salvation. That's when she rolled with Nido across the floor landing against a stone throne's dias. Vines went out and flew back. They wrapped around something solid and they he sense of safety came over her.

Lilly looked backwards and up. "Iv-?" An upside down face was looking upwards. Pink iris with green around them. Looking up at in fascination. The first sound to her new identity while looking up at her new center.
