**Sirencester, Pennsylvania is Full of the Sick**
Ever since the 1960s, when a fire ignited in the coal mines beneath the town, the air in the town has been deemed unsafe, and most of the town has been abandoned, save for a few families stubborn enough to stick it out, in hopes that the fire might eventually die down.
50 years later, and the smoke still pollutes the air. The town has been cut off from the postal service, but mysteriously still runs itself without much need for outsiders - and those who do stumble upon the town either expect it to be in its full glory as it once was, or believe it to be haunted by the ghosts of the mines.
**The latter is not far from the truth.**
Mayor Chitose Yamaoka has been the driving purpose of Sirencester for 30 of the 50 years, her husband having been responsible for it before his untimely death in May 2002, Chitose to raise their newborn child alone. In doing so, she looked to the church, the only building that has taken little to no damage from the disaster.
Since then, the dark has hidden more than just a forgotten mine. Overcast skies, fog, smoke, and nightfall bring on incomprehensible horrors. Some believe they are the souls of those lost to the tragedy, and others have noticed a more... personal malignancy, the appearance and behaviors of the creatures preying on the very thoughts and fears of the townspeople.
**Hell crawls the streets in the dark**
--All characters must be 15+ as per the site rules. This is essentially a Silent Hill derivative and will thusly deal in extreme violent and sexual themes, although any outright smut should be privately messaged or put in a separate thread, please.
--The Town plays on your characters' deepest fears. Please describe your characters, whether or not they are townsfolk or an unfortunate outside visitor, and what their fears and vices are. I will be creating monsters based on what you give me, so do not put down anything that will trigger you in writing. Safety first.
