There's nothing wrong with the Other thread, but it's only Greek Mythology? What about the Norse, or the Egyptian, or the Celtic? :(

Poor Celtic gods. Nobody loves them. :(

I have more than just one idea for this role play. But the core premise of my first idea is that the main characters are replacing the old gods. This idea is that the main characters are modern day folk from the 2010's like we are. Some of them may even be Christian or Jewish, while others could be Pagan, Wiccan or Athiest and Agnostic. They could try to explain that the gods are just somehow extraordinary people with supernatural powers like super heroes of the comic books, but anyhow. . .

It's 2017, and The Great Darkness is threatening to escape from his or her prison and devour the universe and it's gods. It's first target is Earth, but when it is released from prison it will be weak and hungry. The gods are ignorant of The Great Darkness, not understanding that they are weak compared to it.

At first they just discover their powers, not knowing where they come from, only understanding that they inherit these powers from the old gods. They don't have to be blood relatives either, the gods could just decide to choose someone they want to inherit their powers.

The old gods are still around but weak. They could even be prey of other supernatural threats such as vampires.
