The beaten old Toyota Corolla bounced uncertainly up the stony road, the contents in the back seats shifting with every lurch of the vehicle. The trunk hung open, its contents barely contained by a web of bungee cords. Now and then, a small item would slide free and clatter to the ground behind it. As the aged car rolled over the brim of the hill, an awkward rumble came from the rear. One of the cords snapped, the contents spilling out in abundance. Immediately, the car came to a stop, the door flying open to reveal its driver. Out stumbled a thin figure. He was a tall, thin man. He was dressed in a white T-shirt and a grey jumpsuit, tied by the arms around his waist. He had tousled black hair and piercing green eyes, which widened in shock and surprise at the tumbled mess.

"Oh no--nononono! Shit!"

He darted forward, grabbing up the items on the road behind him. As his two arms filled, he glanced back at the trunk, then sighed in relief. His prize was there. His one last chance. He threw open the doors of his car, grabbing the first box of things before starting for the dim little cottage he had rented.
He hadn't had the easiest life, but things had lately gone from bad to worse, then to absolute shit. He had moved into the cottage here six months ago, after taking on a job as a janitor at a small local tech startup. Not the most lucrative or glamorous job, but he had thought it was the first step in his new life. His boss had been enthusiastic for the future of the company, and spoke joyously about his hope for the future of his company.

That hope hadn't lasted for long.

After working overnight for weeks upon weeks, the CEO had sat down with the entire staff. They had been unable to find outside funding. The company was folding.

The man grunted as he took hold of a massive, egg-shaped device. It was a beautiful thing, made of a glass-like substance, with a steely base and top set with wires and computer parts. After the company had shut down, he had smuggled as much tech and gear from the building as possible, hoping to sell them later. He hadn't been subtle about it either, simply throwing modems, schematics and random science junk into his cart. It was when he was 'cleaning' the storeroom when he found this...thing. The egg. At first he had thought about stripping it down, but something told him it was important he take it home whole.

He shuffled into the sparse living room, empty save for an old sofa that had come with the place. With a thud, he placed the device in the corner. He had no idea what this thing was or what it did. Best he work that out before deciding what to do with it. He grabbed the power cord, plugging it into a wall. A display flashed at the side. "Input coordinates".

He really couldn't be bothered with this crap.

After tapping in four numbers at random, he pressed the 'activate' button. With a slow hum, the device slowly came to life. Only partially interested in the proceedings, the weary janitor simply stumbled over to the couch before seating himself. He half expected the device to simply explode, or short out

He couldn't have been more wrong.

In a lot of ways, Lisa was an average teenage girl. She came from an upper middle class home, with both parents being respected and well paid professionals in their field. She was the oldest of two children and, as was the norm for families in her particular socioeconomic class, both her parents were determined that neither of their children would have a moment in their lives left unscheduled. So at the age of 18, Lisa was an accomplished martial artist, musician as well as being able to speak and sing in the ancient language used by the congregation their family attended once a week.

Of course, this left Lisa absolutely no time to pursue a romantic relationship or enjoy any of the physical aspects that came along with such a relationship. Her parents had no problem with this, preferring that Lisa "save herself" for someone she met when she started college, and whom the parents could approve.

Lisa herself was understandably frustrated by this, but had no avenue to overcome her frustration.

So Lisa was an overachieving teenager from an upper middle class family who could possibly be found with her friends at any coffee shop in America (when she wasn't in some extracurricular activity). Of course, the fact that Lisa was a sentient anthropomorphic feline, and a fairly attractive one at that, might have made her stick out. Not on her own world, though. On her world, she was the norm (though her hotness did make heads swivel when she passed).

So it was on a particular Monday that Lisa, with two unexpected hours between scheduled activities, decided to take a nap. And she decided to take a nap in a particular outfit her parents definitely did not know she owned. It was one of her secret rebellions against the fact that her parents did not want to acknowledge that their daughter was a sexual being.

Lisa was about to crawl in between her sheets, and forget about a world where every moment of her life was scheduled, when she was surrounded (and blinded) by a bright light.

The next thing she knew, she was standing in the middle of a rather shabby looking room, with a metallic giant eggs and somebody who must have been in some horrible accident, because the person in question had no fur or tail. Instinctively, Lisa assumed a defensive stance in the martial arts she was well trained in, and growled the obvious question:

"Keed zari coon??!!!!"

Whatever he had been expecting, he hadn't expected that.

After seating himself, Thomas had allowed weariness to overpower him. With his hands in his pockets, he simply allowed himself to slide downward, until his shoulderblades were lying along the seat cushions. His legs were splayed in front of him inelegantly. Only his eyes moved as he stared at the machine.

So when the otherworldly, fur-coated beauty came tumbling through the portal, he was caught completely off guard.

As Lisa stood up and shifted into a combat stance, he felt his adrenaline spike. A surge of energy that pushed through his confusion and exhaustion. With a sudden jolt, he jumped up and spun to the broom cupboard behind the couch. With two swift motions, he threw the door open and grabbed the first weapon that came to hand from a box of his old things. He turned back to face her, one hand spinning his old NES controller threateningly from where he stood.

"Stay back! I've got a thirty year old piece of tech in my hand, and I'm not afraid to use it!"

It struck him he might not have looked as threatening as he might have hoped, but the two were too close now for him to make a grab for the broom. Though he had other reasons to feel awkward. The two sleeves that served as a 'belt' had begun to slip. The toned flesh of his waist was on display, a tantalizing hint of his abs above and his boxers below. The slightest motion might be enough to shift it.

Lisa was not sure where she was or what she was facing, but the mostly hairless, tailless...whatever it was, had grabbed something and was shaking it at her, while making strange sounds reminiscent of a primate she once saw at the zoo.

Forgetting how scantily dressed she was...really, forgetting just how bizarre a situation she was in...she instinctively did a maneuver that she usually reserved for demonstration day at the studio where she learned martial arts. She did a forward hand flip around/over the couch, landed on her feet in front of Thomas, kicked the controller out of his hand and caught it nimbly in her hand, all in a tenth of a time it took to actually describe what she had done.

Lisa studied the device for a moment, trying to figure out what it was. It looked sort of like a game controller, one of those that had recently become popular as the video game industry reintroduced what they called 'classic' video games. Not that she had any first hand knowledge of such things, Lisa thought guiltily to herself. Her time was much too valuable to waste on things. Her parents had even told her that. Several times.

Shaking her head out of this weird reverie, she shook the controller at Thomas and growled, "Nee kux zari? Coon kuz kir? Chan zu zinin?"

With a blur of motion he couldn't help but admire, the fur-covered creature had flipped across the room. He scarcely had time to register what she was doing--much less come up with a plan to counter it--when he was completely disarmed. All he could do was take a couple steps back, raising his arms to show he wasn't much of a threat. Not that he wasn't at this point; all it took was one more wrong move, and the two would be fighting. Probably with him on the floor.

"Look missy, let's try this again--I. Don't. Understand. You."

There might have been something amid the myriad of tech junk he had stolen that could be used to translate the catgirl in front of him. Though the two of them were much too preoccupied with their confrontation to consider that idea. Understanding her was not his only concern though. His retreat from her sudden flip forward had sent his jumpsuit falling down towards his knees, the jumpsuit barely holding onto his thighs. His plaid boxers were only partially visible, though with his erection slowly building, it may as well have been his sole source of modest. As if that was not enough to draw the eye, a pungent odor was rising from him as well. The smell of a hard working man, on the cusp of arousal.

The hairless, tailless one was making some kind of noise, but Lisa couldn't make heads or tails out of what it was trying to say. It was clearly no threat, especially when it threw its arms up in a helpless, defensive manner. And the smell emanating from it wasn't pleasant either. It could clearly use a bath or shower.

Lisa studied the controller in her hand, but couldn't make heads or tails out of it. Maybe it had something to do with how she had gotten here in the first place?

She looked back at the creature and was going to ask it something when she suddenly deduced that the creature was not an it, but a he.

She could tell this by the fact that the covering the creature was wearing had fallen, leaving only some type of undergarment. And a twitching, growing something underneath that undergarment identified the creature as a he. A very possibly aroused he.

The fact that creature was becoming aroused in this situation just added to the absurd surreal atmosphere of the situation.

And Lisa's body did the only thing it knew to help release the tension that was overwhelming it.

Lisa began laughing. Giggling even. Not so much that she couldn't keep an eye on Thomas. But strong enough that tears leaked out of her eyes.

This is how I'm going to die.

The thought flitted through Thomas's head, though he did his best to suppress it. This was how his life was going to end. From spoiled, reclusive heir to a jobless janitor. He could see the headlines now. 'Teenaged Man found Mauled in Remote Cottage.' He wished he had a moment to compose himself at least. Wash, zip up his jumpsuit, etc. The fact that the strange thing[//i] in front of his was dancing about in lingerie was not helping.

That was when she started laughing.

He wasn't sure what exactly set it off. If he had to make a guess, it was probably his unfortunate erection. He glanced down at it, then back at her. Then, he began to laugh as well. Hesitantly at first, but then as merrily as she was laughing. As his mirth slowly died, he took hold of his slipping jumpsuit, zipping it back up to his waist and tying the arms of the suit to hide his embarrassment before he turned back to her with a smile. The two might not be able to understand each other, but this was a chance for the two to start fresh, without worrying about the one or the other attacking each other. He raised one hand and tapped himself on the chest with one finger.

"Thomas."

Lisa finally caught her breath, as Thomas pulled up his pants and secured them. Whatever was happening here, she felt sure that the creature before her didn't intend her any harm.

And then he tapped his own chest and said something.

She shook her head in confusion and replied, "Chan mi kichi."

"What? No, I--hold on."

He turned from Lisa before he strolled over to the closet again. After opening the door, he crouched down on his knees. Lisa couldn't see what he was doing exactly, but judging by the junk that went sailing over his shoulders and against the wall, it was clear he was looking for something. After a few moments, he gave a victorious cry. He rounded the corner again, holding a well used notebook in his hands. The surface of it was covered in clumsy handwriting and doodles that held the faintest promise of artistic prowess. As he flipped through the pages, she thought she could make out a couple pictures. A knight with a very large sword, facing down a dragon. A spider with a human face hugging a very buff looking man. He flipped anxiously over a few pictures before finding a blank page. After a moment, he turned the notebook back to face her. It depicted six figures, one of which was clearly himself. There was a fair amount of detail in the brief sketch, but a glance at the ruffled hair and jumpsuit was enough to tell her it was the man before her. Next to it was an image of her. Or what Lisa assumed was supposed to be her. The samurai headband and blackbelt were probably a creative decision on his part. Beneath either image was an approximation of two more members of his race and hers, though one could guess from their bland expressions and lack of detail that they were stand-ins for the male and female genders of either race as a whole.
Thomas pointed to the image of himself again with a stubby pencil in his hand. The tip prodded his odd choice of clothing before he tapped himself on the chest once more.

"Thomas. Tho-mas."

Lisa looked at the drawings that Thomas was showing her, but made no assumptions about them. Yes, absolutely no assumptions did Lisa make. There were assumptions to be made, assumedly, but none were made by Lisa. She was definitely non-assuming Lisa.

She did find it curious that the hairless male in front of her had drawn other hairless beings. In the back of her mind, Lisa assumed (perhaps she made one assumption, after all) that the hairless, tailless being in front of her was just like her, but had been in some horrid accident that had left it hairless and tailless. Of course, from what skin she had seen exposed by this other being, she couldn't see any type of scarring. And if the being had lost its fur, wouldn't there be some type of scarring? Or if it had been healed enough that whatever had caused it to lose all its fur would leave no scarring, then why hadn't the hypothetical healer simply grown all of Thomas's hair back?

And Lisa noticed other things about Thomas. None of his features looked like person's features were supposed to look. His ears were wrong, his nose...everything was wrong.

The idea that Thomas was a member of an entirely different sentient species had still not crossed her mind.

She looked at the drawings that Thomas made, but did not make the connection that the drawing of a female of her species was her. When Thomas completed all the drawings, she wondered if she had fallen into some type of sanctuary for survivors of some unknown accident, and Thomas was trying to tell her that there were male and female accident victims here. Were the ones who looked like her the doctors then? Guards of some kind? Or what?

When Thomas again pointed to himself, and repeated "Thomas. Tho-mas," she assumed he was giving her some type of greeting, but she had no idea what language he was speaking. Perhaps that's why she hadn't heard of these bizarre accident victims. Maybe they happened on the other side of the planet, and there had been a media hush up about them happening. It still didn't explain how she had gotten here though.

As slowly and as distinctly as she could, Lisa responded, "Coon fud fasa zangkivs dee?"

"...You know what, I give up."

Thomas flung the notebook over one shoulder, the ragged old collection of high school art and disregarded facts hitting the ground behind him. He ran one hand over his forehead, thinking over what he should do next. The language barrier was proving quiet a problem for the two of them. He wasn't sure how to rectify it. His first though was to just plop the alien in front of a television and let her absorb what was going on naturally, but he didn't have a TV, and it had been years since this place had working television. Much less internet...

...Then again...

"I've got it!"

He snapped his fingers before he strolled off to the bathroom. If was...clean. Mostly. The sink had a few spots from various hygiene products, and the room was coated in a faint sampling of dust. He strolled to the toilet, where a pile of magazines stood stacked nearby. With only a basic phone with an iffy connection and no internet, these were his only source of entertainment when occupying the toilet. Some of them were more...NSFW in nature, but he had a few that was more appropriate. He gathered up a few gaming magazines, tech articles, a Men's Health article and a National Geographic he had picked up when cleaning out the office a few weeks ago. He strolled back into the room, before laying the magazines on the arm of the couch before raising the first article, the National Geographic, which depicted a Viking staring over a sword in his hands towards the viewer. Thomas pointed, first at himself, then after a long moment, to the figure and himself.

"Thomas.

Man.

Thomas.

Man."

Lisa felt momentarily frustrated when Thomas walked out of the room, but then relaxed. Perhaps he was going to fetch one of the attendants? That made sense to Lisa. Someone who had been as badly disfigured as Thomas looked to be would never have a reason to learn a language other than his own. But a doctor or nurse could be conversant in more than one language, including Lisa's own.

Lisa was more than a little disappointed when Thomas returned with a magazine instead of an attendant. How did she expect him to read his language when she couldn't even speak or understand it?

Then Thomas opened up one of the magazines to a picture of a male who had been disfigured in the same fashion as Thomas had. Except this male was dressed like a very fanciful depiction of a warrior from the Middle Ages of Lisa's own world. And though she couldn't read the printing, apparently there was a number of paragraphs accompanying the picture. Perhaps it was a fantasy story of some type that centered around a man who had befallen the same type of accident that Thomas had? But who would write something as macabre as that?

There was another explanation that was fermenting in Lisa's subconscious, but for the moment her conscious mind wasn't allowing it into the light.

Then Thomas began pointing to the picture, and then himself, and began repeating, "Thomas. Man. Thomas. Man."

Hesitantly, Lisa pointed at the picture, and then Thomas, and said, "Dumasman?"

"...No."

Thomas shook his head again. Oh God, why did this have to be such a chore? He hoped his parents hadn't had this much trouble teaching him as a boy. At least she looked cute when she fucked up...

He let another moment pass before he pointed to himself again. He repeated his name, letting a few long moments pass before he pointed to the man and then himself again. Hoping that was enough to drive the point home, he flipped the magazine open and brushed through it until he found a picture of a woman--it didn't take long. Rags like these loved to show women off in the adverts, whether they were advertising for French perfume or cheap vodka. This one looked perfect though. It showed a model with long curly black hair. From what he could see of her waist up, she was completely naked, though she was turned tastefully away from the camera, letting the focus catch on her extended shoulder and her coy, excited face. Her mouth was open, tongue extended slightly to reveal a piece of decadent chocolate balanced on her tongue. He was pretty sure the label next to it was some chocolate brand. Thomas wasn't completely sure; reading German hadn't been part of his job description. He indicated the woman, then pointed to Lisa and back to the model again.

"Woman."

He repeated his earlier process, pointing to the man on the cover, and then himself. The mantra repeated. 'Man...Thomas...Man...Thomas.' After a few more rounds of this, he turned back to the page with the model.

"Woman."

He let the phrase hang in the air before he pointed to Lisa, letting the pregnant silence build in the air. If she had been paying attention, she should be able to figure out that this was her cue to give him her name. Assuming she even recognized the advert as female...or worked out Thomas was his name...or even wanted to give her name...

Why did talking to women have to be so complicated?

Lisa was not only confused, her mind was again trying to prevent her from reaching certain conclusions, because those conclusions were too far-fetched to believe. It was obvious, by the pictures that Thomas was showing her, that there were a lot of "accident" victims of both genders.

But why would someone put female "accident" victim members in such provocative poses?

Because they're not accident victims, Lisa's brain supplied. This is how they're supposed to look.

Lisa didn't let her mind dwell too long on that, because that led to a whole nestful of other questions. And it still didn't answer Lisa's other questions, especially the most important two: where was she, and how had she gotten here.

Thomas was still pointing at pictures and using his language, and Lisa tried to follow along. Maybe if she could communicate with him better, he might provide some answers. Or maybe go get someone who looked like her and could talk her language as well.

"Man," Lisa finally sounded out. She pointed to the pictures of males in the book, and then at Thomas, repeating the word for the male gender again and again. "Man. Man. Man. Man."

Obviously, then, the other pictures, if they were hairless, were still the same gender as Lisa.

"Wo-man," she repeated.

The other must be his name, then, Lisa reasoned, though it didn't sounded like any name she had ever heard. Lisa placed a finger between her barely clad breasts and slowly said, "Lee-sa. Lisa."

She then reached over and tapped Thomas lightly on his chest. "Dumbass." She touched her own chest and repeated "Lisa." She did this a couple of more times and smiled, before extending her right hand, palm up, and said, "Yindee thee de fit coon, Dumbass."

"...Close enough."

Thomas gave a sigh. Then smiled. At least he had a name. Lisa. The beautiful, alien girl in front of him was Lisa. That had to be progress at least, right? "Lisa. Nice to meet you."

He took her hand, gently. Not the way one would shake hands with a business partner or friend, but the way a knight might a lady. His hand wrapped around her fingers, holding them gently with the back of her hand raised. As he released them, he decided now was as good a time as any to show her his cabin. With a wave, he ushered her toward each small space, pointing to each room (or, in the case of the first two, half of the room) as they went.

"Living room."

"Kitchen."

"Bathroom."

"My room."

Lisa had only a second to take in that room before Thomas managed to shut the door. A few cheap pieces of furniture lined the wall, a made bed that hadn't been slept in for weeks in the center. A gaming PC sat in the corner, not even plugged in, while the walls had a couple of movie and gaming posters. Each playing host to handsome actors and actresses, or painstakingly crafted CGI images. Of people, just like Thomas. One might have had a 'normal' person on it, alongside more hairless apes and cartoon characters, though she hadn't had time to examine it closely, even if she made out the name. 'Super Smash Bros.'
For his part, Thomas seemed embarrassed he had even shown her the room. The skin on his cheeks had begun to turn red, and his eyes seemed a little wider than normal. One hand ran over the back of his head before he managed to say something else.

"Are you hungry? You know, for..."

He trailed off, evidently remembering the futility of explaining things in English to her. Instead, he mimed holding a bowl in one hand, eating out of it with a spoon. His cheeks puffed up in between eating from his pantomimed spoon. He wasn't sure what Lisa might eat, but it was probably a good idea to figure that out as quickly as he could.

The interior of the dwelling Thomas was showing Lisa reminded her of the housing university students lived in. Even including the posters that she assumed were of some sort of entertainment medium. Maybe a gaming system?

The posters especially caught her attention. Even the cartoonish characters looked more like someone like Thomas than someone like her. So where was she? How did she get here? And how could she communicate her questions to Thomas.

Lisa's reverie was interrupted by a question from Thomas. He was asking her a question (at least she thought he was asking her something) and was miming...eating?

Lisa shook her head "no", then paused, wondering if the shaking of her head meant the same thing to Thomas as it would to her. So she mimed the eating action to Thomas, and pretended to push the imaginary spoon and plate away.

She then tapped her chest again, and motioned to the room around her, before asking, "Shan chu thifin, Dumbass? Shan ma tee needee changri?"

"Still don't understand you."

The familiar words slipped from his mouth with a sigh. He crossed his arms, wondering what she might...oh. He could have slapped himself from how stupid he had been. He gestured with one hand for her to stay put before he strolled out to where his car was. He didn't have GPS and his phone couldn't bring up a map program this far from a good signal, but there were always good old fashioned AAA maps. He grabbed one of the local state from where he kept them before slamming the door and strolling back to the house. He lay the map out on the floor before gesturing for her to join him. He waited for the girl to sit nearby, his eyes falling on her breasts a little longer than they probably should have. But really, could one blame him? She had been here for nearly ten minutes now. In a strange house with someone she had never met. And she was still prancing around in her panties and top.

He shook the thoughts from his head. He'd have to seriously relax after all this. Maybe he would power on an H game while she was sleeping to help him unwind. Turning back to the map, he indicated a few different locations he thought she would probably recognize. Mountains, rivers, major cities. Finally, he pointed to a thin line, that terminated just outside a large patch of green he knew to be the nearby wildlife preserve.

"Here's where we are. We--Thomas and Lisa."

Lisa crouched beside Thomas, her tail suddenly still, as she studied the map intensely. All the names were in that odd language Thomas had shown her, but she was hopeful she'd pick out something on the map that she'd recognize. It wouldn't explain how she got here, but it would give her a starting place to find her way home. And once she got home, she was hitting the internet BIG time, to learn everything she could about Thomas and other people like him. How had she never noticed that before? I mean, what exactly was Thomas, and how could she have never heard of people like him before?

And then Lisa was literally floored. A shocked looked appeared on her face as she rocked backward and landed on her cute posterior. But it wasn't the map that had literally rocked her world. It was a little symbol in the corner, where the state on the map was highlighted in red, with a map of North America and its political divisions outlined.

It was possible...barely possible, but still possible...that Thomas and others like him could exist on her world to an extent that they had magazines and posters and video games about them. But the map showed a continent whose shape Lisa had never encountered. And even if she was the world's worst student of geography (which she definitely wasn't), there was absolutely no way that she could have missed an entire continent in her schooling.

Which meant that she was no longer on a world she had learned about.

In a dazed voice, she murmured, "Shan chu thifin?"

"Hmm?"

Thomas glanced up from the map. His eyes gazed into hers with obvious concern. Even if he didn't understand what she said, it was clear he could sense her unease. He watched her for a moment before the realization struck him.

"You're all alone here, aren't you?"

One of his hairless hands rose before coming to rest softly beside her neck. His own eyes gazed back at hers, filled with sympathy. It was his fault. Even if he had no intention of summoning or creating or whatever he had done to her, that didn't change the fact that she was here against his will. He stood up after a few moments, walking back over to the assorted things standing by the portal. Or whatever it was. Most of the stuff around it was just junk. Bits and pieces of tech he had gathered in a hurry, with no real idea what they were or what they did. Still, maybe he could find something useful. Perhaps even a user manual. He pushed aside a couple things that looked like collars fitted with bits and pieces of tech in favor of going over some of the other things there, ignoring her for the time being in favor of trying to find her a way home.

Lisa was brought out of her daze by the touch of Thomas' hand to the back of her neck. The feel of his smooth flesh was alien, to say the least, but it was also comforting. She almost whimpered in protest when he stood up and moved away. Her eyes followed him as he moved over to a large, metallic egg-shaped device. Why hadn't she noticed that object before?

Because, she told herself, you were too freaked out by suddenly appearing in...wherever this is.

Her curiosity getting the better of her distress, Lisa got up and moved over to where Thomas was sorting through material, wondering what he was trying to find. Was it some kind of communication device, she wondered? Was Thomas about to call for help?

Still curious, Lisa slowly reached out a hand to the egg shaped device.

"No, not this."

Thomas threw one collar over one shoulder in frustration. Rapidly losing patience in the enterprise, he gave a sigh. There was probably a manual, but it had probably fallen out of the trunk of his car. Assuming he found it in the first place. He sighed as he gazed over the junk in front of him, before a motion caught his attention. His eyes widened, noticing Lisa reaching for the machine. Just him tampering with the device had transported her into his room. Who knows how it would react to her if she touched it a second time?

"Lisa, no!"

He reached out for her, his arms lifting her gently--or at least as gently as he could--from where she was reaching for the machine. Thomas stood up, still holding Lisa before placing her on one end of the couch. Thomas crouched by her side, giving her a stern expression. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, but he had no idea how this machine worked. He had no idea how it would react to her. The only way to make sure she didn't try to tamper with it or go near it, was to make it clear that she shouldn't from the start. He shook his head, bobbing a finger at her as if reprimanding a child. "No. No."

He waited a few seconds more to let his statement sink in. Even if she had no idea what he was saying or his tone, his facial expression and reaction should be enough to dissuade her. He let the tension leave his posture before he gave her a small smile. His hands rose, pantomiming a controller in his hands as he spoke. "I think that's enough science for now. You want to play a game? We might as well relax for now until we can find out more about this machine."

Lisa was more than a little shocked when Thomas grabbed her arm, dragging her away from the egg shaped device. He continued saying the same word over and over, guiding her over to the sofa. The look on his face and the sternness of his voice and gestures reminded her so much of a mother admonishing a toddler that Lisa couldn't help but laugh. Chuckling, she allowed Thomas to sit her on the couch.

Pointing to the egg device, she repeated "No!" and then said "My!" She did this several times, shaking her head while she said both words. Apparently, shaking your head in this world meant the same thing as it did in her world.

Still giggling, Lisa pointed to the egg shape and ensured Thomas, "My ty zing quangkil, Dumbass! Shan my quay saymphas man!"

Lisa decided that the egg must be some type of energy source, and it wasn't safe to touch. Still, her eyes kept on returning to it.

When Thomas started pantomiming using a controller, Lisa immediately knew what he was suggesting. Unfortunately, Lisa wasn't very good with the video games in her own world. She knew she would be horrible in Thomas' world.

Lisa shook her head, saying both "No" and "My", then pointed at Thomas, pointing at him and pantomiming the game controller, nodding her head, and hoping it meant the same thing. "Coon pi quang hin ah lay tin, Dumbass. Shan kah dew." Lisa pantomimed using the game controller and pointed at Thomas, and then at herself and her eyes.

"Still don't understand you."

When he had first said those words, Thomas had spoken with irritation. Something short of a scowl on his face. Now however, his expression couldn't have been more different. He gave Lisa a smile, one hand rising to gently brush her hair with something short of a ruffle. He strolled off down the hall towards his bedroom, leaving her be only briefly before he reemerged, holding the monitor from his computer, he placed it in the center of the room after plugging it in, angling the screen up to face them both. He walked back towards the hallway, giving her an appreciative glance. He almost wished he hadn't. With the tension of their initial encounter worn off, he was reminded of Lisa's beauty. Her soft fair, feminine features...all hidden behind a set of sensual underwear. He was sure his undershirt had more fabric to it than whatever she was wearing.

Thomas rounded the corner, quietly hoping to himself that he could quiet his growing erection through pure force of will. After a moment he returned, carrying a box loaded with games and consoles. Most of them looked...ancient. Certainly older than Lisa, in some cases. Thomas seemed to think nothing of it though. After a couple moments, he fished out a few games and held them aloft as an offering for Lisa. The first had a comedic look, depicting a pink furless man in red and blue, though he had an impressive patch of fur on his upper lip. He seemed unphased by his lack of hair however. Then again Lisa would probably feel the same if she were riding a dinosaur.. The second cart in his hand, black and slightly smaller than the other, depicted a...blue and pink blob., shaking a finger at the viewer. Something told even a normie like Lisa that she was gazing into the face of the 90s. The last was not a cart, but a CD case, depicting what looked like the characters from the poster in the room. A knight in a green tunic, a giant spiky turtle, a yellow mouse, and what looked like the same man as before were locked in combat with what appeared to be a small stone on the ground between them. He ran one finger under each of them, hopefully illustrating that she should pick one.

And distract her from the growing pressure building in the jumpsuit tied loosely around his waist.

Lisa tried not to sigh dramatically. She was very content in just watching Thomas play video games. She really didn't want to play herself. She'd be perfectly content watching him play and, by extension, learning more about what kind of world she was in.

What kind of world, Lisa thought with a laugh as she repeated that phrase in her mind. She should be freaking out right now, but instead, she was trying to tell someone that didn't speak her language that she didn't want to play video games.

But it did lead her again to the question of how she got here and, more importantly, how she was going to get back to her own world.

Lisa looked down at the floor at the unfolded map and got an idea.

Standing up, she moved to a spot on the floor away from the map and pointed at herself. Then she leaped, landing nimbly by the map, and pointed to herself and then Thomas. She repeated this three more times before holding her hands up in supplication and asking "Zhangri?"

Thomas turned, eyes following Lisa as she stood up. He thought about trying to explain he wanted her to pick one for him to play, but with how rudimentary their conversations were, he wasn't sure it was worth pursuing. He watched as she walked to the map, jumped upon it, and then pointed. First to him, then her. She repeated this dance three more times before raising her hands.

He pushed himself up from the ground before he walked over to her. His eyes flitted from the spot she had leaped from to the map. After a moment, he silently turned, walking back towards his room. He gave his impromptu belt a firm tightening tug, the better to keep it in place. He emerged a moment or two later, a sharpie behind one ear, and a pen in hand. Grabbing the notebook from before off the ground, he took the sharpie and began to doodle with it. His drawing skill was rudimentary now, hardly matching his old skill with a pen. But it was still better than nothing. After a few moments, he flipped the paper to face Lisa. It depicted the surface of the globe, the face of the Americas turned towards them. Roughly where they were on the map, there was a little arrow, leading up to two cutesy heads. One of a smiling man with tousled hair, one of a girl with pointed fox ears. In hindsight, maybe he shouldn't have made them chibi heads--he doubted they had that particular style of art on her world--but it should have hopefully driven the point home. He tapped his finger on the outside of the circle, then the continent, and finally to the two heads.

"Earth. America. Thomas, Lisa."

After flipping the paper up, he drew a circle, roughly the same size as Earth. Completely plain, with only the image of Lisa's head again to distract the eye. He pointed to her, then the spot she had been, then back to the paper. He was halfway through the second round when he realized he was just imitating her at this point. It took him an effort to avoid slapping himself in the face at that particular realization. Finally, he just pointed to the circle, and asked the question he probably should have started with.

"Zhangri?"
