Katherine and her friends had been planning this road trip for months now, the group had taken the opportunity offered by Spring Break to take a trip out of state to the beach. To save as much time as possible they had set off right after the end of their last classes and it was now well into the night, but all of them were still wide awake, laughing and joking, Katherine busy chatting away with Caleb, Hiro and Larry, talking about the various plans they had for being at the beach, things they had forgotten to bring and things they hoped to see. The drive there had been planned to be uneventful, but unfortunately that wasn't quite to be. The sky was lit up almost as if it were the day again for a brief moment, then something streaked across the sky above them, the sound almost deafening. The streak would continue ahead of them, striking the ground not too far ahead of them with another almighty bang and flash. Nobody else was around for miles, they were the only four to see it. "Whoa....you guys saw that...right?!"

Katherine turned the car when they got to a side street, heading towards where the object had struck the ground, actually putting her foot down to accelerate a little more, not taking long to pull up alongside a crater, smoke still coming from whatever had landed in the center. Katherine got out of the car, moving over to the edge of the crater, gasping as she saw something glowing within. "Wh-whoa...guys...guys! You gotta get over here and see this!" She carefully got into the crater, slowly edging her way down. Oddly the object didn't seem to be giving off any heat, just light and a weird, but alluring, vibe of energy.

The guys all saw that flash, all heard the bang. The one that stood up in the car was Caleb, a bright haired guy with his shirt out.
"Whoa. Yeah, I've saw it. Kath, we have to go there."
"Are you kidding?" The blonde guy in the back was Larry and he wasn't amused. "We need to call someone, not go there!"
Caleb and Larry were two opposites. One was very adventurous, a real explorer and fighter. Larry liked to thing about himself as a thinker first, doer nest. They were often at odds, Caleb always cheereful and Larry seeming to always have a stick up his ass.
The third boy, Asian looking and with dark hair, was Hiro. He was usually chill but still, curious.
"I vote to check it out first." He said.
"Figures you would..." Larry moaned with resignation.

The car speed up and once again Larry showed how unhappy he was with the whole situation. When Katherine jumped out Caleb was just behind her. He even took the lead when he started just sliding down the crater.
"Dudes. You really need to check this out. It's awesome" He said as he kneeled next to the thing taking in the energy and feeling just great.
Hiro and Larry stood at the edge.
"You're going to chicken out on us, aren't you?" Asked Hiro and started walking. Larry just sighed and... followed.

Katherine wasn't really surprised at the guys reactions, they were so predictable sometimes, though that just made them fun to mess with sometimes too. She did huff slightly when Caleb passed her in sliding down the crater to get to the middle first "H-hey! Get back here! I was in here first damnit Caleb!" She sped up a little to catch up, then leaned in to examine the glowing object more closely alongside him. It was definitely some kind of rock or crystal, though it was difficult to tell with the way it was glowing. "Whoa, it's so weird...it just fell from the sky but there's no heat or anything, it almost seems like you could reach out and touch it" Katherine extended a hand, though even she was slightly hesitant. This thing had just fell out of the sky after all.

When Larry and Hiro caught up and got close, the group now gathered around, Katherine felt a little more bold, finally plucking up the courage to reach out and place a fingertip on it first, then her palm. "Whoa, it feels weird. Nice, but weird. It's not hot but...whoa...getting a weird vibe from it. You guys gotta touch this thing" She glanced up at them and grinned brightly.

Almost the instant that all of them were touching it together though the rock seemed to vibrate slightly, then suddenly erupted in a mighty flash of light, an odd wave of energy or radiation washing over all of them, Katherine stumbling backover and away. "Wh-whoa...what the hell?" As her vision cleared and she looked at the rock the glow had stopped, the inert crystal now just sitting there. "Everyone ok?" Katherine rubbed at her eyes, still dazzled by the light. Her chest felt a little tight, and ontop of that there was an odd tingling and tightness between her legs, but she ignored the sensations for now in order to check on the guys.
