Killian walked through the small port town as he prepared for his mission out into the bay to rid the town of the dreaded siren that seemed to plague the waters just beyond the cove.

Killian had heard the stories of the terrible creature and that was what drew him to this town in the first place. Killian was a sidhe, the ruling class of the faerie world, but he had forsaken a life of pomp and pageantry for one of adventure. So whenever he heard of a monster or warlord to defeat, Killian was more then happy to test his metal against it.

As the sun began to set, the town's folk quickly ran to their homes and closed their doors and shutters. Only a small crew of men stood waiting at the dock as Killian approached. "Everything prepared?" he asked as he stepped on board the ship he hired for the mission. "Yes sir, but some of the men are a little worried about venturing out on the bay at night. The stories, you know" said the captain of the ship. Killian looked at the crew, "Fine, dismiss them. If they are afraid allow them to return to their families," he replied. Many of the men quickly disembarked the ship. Killian frowned, he had hoped to conserve his power for the siren, but now he would have to summon phantasmal servants to sail the ship.

As the ship disembarked from the port Killian stood at the prow of the ship and drew out a small flute. "This will protect me from the siren's song," he said and began to play a simple melody.

A small head poked up over the rolling waves which crashed upon the rocks around the mouth of the bay. One could be forgiven for not noticing her, between the distance from the town amid the waning light, and how occasionally her head would be vanished beneath the waves. Narissa's one arm was lightly wrapped around one of the smaller stone peaks that jutted upward, keeping the waters from throwing her lithe form upon the rocks, while her other hand served to shield her sensitive red eyes from the dusk light. The woman's eyes were made and adjusted for the dark depths of the ocean, and daylight was painfully blinding.

Below the surface of the bay a glistening blue-scaled tail flicked back and forth. Fins shifting and adjusting with the waters to keep her mostly stationary. Around her waist and hanging down her tail some was a blue-green cloth, which matched the band of which that was wrapped around her chest. Beyond that, she was bare, shoulders to hands, neck to breasts, and her stomach, skin pale and smooth.

Narissa giggled as she watched with a curious and mischievous gaze, a little of her soft tongue poking passed her lips. 'Ooh, and now where are they going?' she asks herself at the sight of the ship leaving the port. A sight she hadn't seen often in the last week or two. 'To cross the mouth of my bay? Naughty. You should always ask permission... ' The edges of her pink lips curled up, a wicked smile.

Pushing off of the rock, she dove below the surface. Long strands of white hair fanned out behind her as she just drifted for a short ways, sinking, then with one powerful thrust of her sapphire tail, she sharply glided forward through the water. Her body took on an undulating motion as she propelled herself through the water in the direction of the ship, deciding to have a little fun with them first.

She remained low to the seafloor until she got close, then quickly rose up until she passed alongside the ship--her back, followed by her tail, splashing above the surface. When the sunlight hit her tail, the scales glittered like gems, and afterward she dove back below the surface, giggling to herself as she sharply turned, and swam under the ship. Popping up on the opposite side, splashing at the water and letting out a loud giggle.

Then, once more, back below the surface of the bay, this time swinging along the bottom of the ship and moving with it for a few strides before Narissa carefully slinked up out of the water just behind the massive wooden contraption. With her head above the water, and the rest below, softly pushing her along and causing a small wave, she followed the ship, keen ears listening. Would she hear the panicked cries of sailors? Hushed prayers? How curious.

It was then, for the first time, her ears really heard the sound of the flute--it had been muted by the waters, and she had not been up long enough to listen before. She quirked a brow. 'Hmm? What's that noise? A sweet song... ' she rolled over onto her back, eyes closing for a moment. The urge to sing along with it welling up inside, but with a shake of her head she flipped back over. No, not yet. She would wait for them to be closer to the rocks, she would lure and guide them to crash upon them, and if there were any that fell in her waters that took her fancy... she would take them.

Killian smirked as he heard something splashing around in the waters about the ship. 'Mischievous one,' he thought to himself as he took a deep breath and whispered a word to the flute which continued to play even as he set it down on a cask tied to the mast of the ship. "I won't be so easily rattled" he said aloud to no one as he prepared his trap. He would lure the creature into singing, then use a music box that was rumoured to be able to steal the beast's voice.

Opening his spellbook, to review the note he made on sirens. "Only seen at night, huh? Must not like bright light" he said with a grin, "laindéir" he said and multiple balls of light began appearing around him. Waving his hand around in a few directions, he sent the balls of light out into the water around the boat. "Come on you sea witch, I heard you were a challenge!" he shouted off the prow of the ship.

'What's that?' Narissa questioned, ears twitching slightly as she continued to listen. Her eyes narrowed some with displeasure. No cries, no shouts, no... nothing. With the slightest hint of anger, the siren smacks the surface of the water before she dives herself back under, sinking to the bottom and rolling to face up toward the ship's bottom. The woman's body rolls like the waves as she propels herself through the water, eyes still narrowed, but now a pout upon her lips. 'That's no fun... They aren't panicking. Hmph. I'll... '

The woman's thoughts trail off at the first sign of bright lights pushing down into the water, giving them a curious, if hesitant look. As more join the first one, she's forced to bring up a hand to shield her eyes, soon finding herself and the waters around well-lit by the orbs, much to her discomfort. A deep growl of annoyance comes from within her throat, and she propels herself forward swiftly--if the man on the ship happened to peer over the side, he would likely see her dark figure retreating away into the deeper, darker parts of the waters, and the bay.

Narissa veers off to the side, and right into an opening at the base of the rocks. An underwater cave she had made her home. She was annoyed, she felt robbed. Whoever was upon that ship--they would entertain her, whether they wanted to or not. She collected a particularly heavy chain that had fallen off one of the others ships that'd run aground, spooling it around her chest, before slipping back out and into the water.

It took her a moment, but she ultimately decided to swim to the opposite side of the bay, under the cover of the dark, to pop up next to a wide, flat-surfaced rock amid some shorter ones. She folded her arms, placing them on the stone to support herself, which as she settled, made her push her breasts up some. Her red eyes focused upon the ship, taking on a slight glow as her tail shimmered in the water. Her eyes eventually slipped closed, head swaying, as she started with a soft hum. A hum that grew louder, and louder as she channeled and fueled her magical energy into it, turning into a haunting, seemingly directionless tune. People as far as the port would be able to hear it soon enough, and those upon the ship would be able to hear it clear as day.

Then, her tune continued, even as she stopped humming. Those hums replaced with words, a voice that some had described as like an angel's, though the words were not in a language understandable by anyone lest they could speak the language of merfolk. A language not unlike elven, with flowing, flowery, and soft-syllable words. First she captivates, and enchants, and only after does her soft whispers come, to guide those who sail to change their courses--and crash upon the rocks.

Killian smirked as he looked of the railing of the boat and saw a shadow move in the water. "Going to hide sea witch?" he mocked. Killian quickly moved to the center of the ship to prepare to enact his plan. Killian waited for what seemed like hours before he heard the first notes of the siren's song. Hearing the song coming from the other side of the bay Killian cursed, 'she was supposed to sing here,' he thought as he scowled. To use his music box, Killian would have to get closer. Holding out his hands, Killian commanded the phantasmal sailors to move the ship. With great effort the vessel began to move, groaning under the strain as it made it's way closer to the siren.

As the ship drew closer the song of the siren became stronger. Killian could feel it's influence at the back of his mind as the haunting melody and hypnotic lyrics danced around him. Thankfully the flute's tune was effective at keeping his mind from giving over completely, but it was still a struggle to focus his mind. Reaching for the music box, Killian prepared to trap the beasts voice. The ship came into range, and Killian opened the box...

Nothing happened, Killian closed and opened the box again, and again nothing happened. "You swindling, lying, double-crossing bilge rat!" Killian cursed as he threw the music box overboard. Killian glared out of over the railing, trying to find where the siren waited them.

If she hadn't had the well-practiced nature of an experienced performer, Narissa might have faltered in her song some when she saw the ship turn in her direction. A curious change, she had grown accustomed to ships turning away at the first sound of her voice. Tilting her head, she peered at the vessel as she continued to sing, thoughts for a brief moment turning to the question of: why? Why was this vessel acting so strange? A thought which, perhaps unwisely, was soon dismissed--the 'attack' on her senses by the lights, the hinderance of her fun, both refueling that annoyance from earlier coupled with a certainty there was nothing anyone aboard could do to her.

"Come to me." The words came like the soft whispers of a lover right next to someone's ear. "I'm right here, waiting for you... come join me." Narissa's eyes closed as she thought the words, and they in-turn were projected through her magic to all aboard the vessel. She had no power to know who were hearing them, or how many were aboard the ship, merely that her suggestive, hypnotic magic combined with the words were irresistable--at least as far as she was aware. In her mind, she had no question that those aboard were becoming enthralled, whether that reflected reality was another matter entirely. "Don't you wish to enjoy my soft, warm embrace? The feel of my lips against your skin? Keep sailing... you're getting close... "

Narissa was careful to keep her mind clear otherwise. No annoyed utterances, no lamentations of what she had spoiled--projecting her thoughts in this way was difficult to be choosy which thoughts flowed out through her song. Her tail, behind her, flicked and slashed in the water. Movement beyond the waves ebbing, and flowing into the rocks. Each time her fins poked up over the waters, they caught the moonlight, and glittered. Between that, plus her folded arms resting upon the rock keeping most of her upper, human form out of the water, she would likely be readily visible after a certain point even nestled down at the waterline, between some rocks, in the faded light.

She made no attempt to hide herself, and the closer the ship got the more her tail excitedly flicked from the water. Emboldened by her previous successes enough to know that after a certain point... the outcome was inevitable. And she was certain the ship coming toward her crossed that line. It would smash upon the rocks, and she would take whoever fell into her waters with her chain, and embrace them tightly...

The song was of the siren was starting to tug more fiercely at Killian's mind the closer he got to the beast. He even began to worry if the magic of the flute would hold off her hypnotic influence indefinitely. As the ship neared the shoal Killian saw the siren, bold as brass on the jagged rock she meant to dash the ship against. "There you are sea bitch," Killian said as he caught sight of the attractive siren perched on a rock. He shouted his orders to his phantom crew which brought the ship to a halt and dropped anchor. Killian hurried to the aft ballista of the vessel and began loading his specially prepared arrow. Once fired the arrow would slip open and become a net to snare the aquatic devil.

This time, for a moment, Narisa -did- faulter. "What are they doing? No, that's not right, you're suppsoed to come to me... " It was so off-putting, so different than expected, she couldn't help herself, and that thought slipped out through her magic over to the man on the vessel. Quickly, though, Narisa resumed her song, pushing down on her arms, and pulling herself up more onto the rock. Water splashed down and splattered upon the stone as she did this, seemingly having little ease putting her long tail from the sea.

"You've stopped... don't you want to join me?" she echoed out as she regained her composure. "You can't join me there, what are you doing? Come to me. Come. To. Me." Her voice was sounding less and less seductive, and more demanding, more commanding. At the same time, she let slip with her all into the music, enough so that some lights flickered and shifted in the town on the far shore, and it would be difficult to hear one's own footsteps amid the song.

Killian grinned as he felt the falter in the siren's song. Aiming the ballista Killian prepared to fire. But before he could pull the trigger he felt the magic of the song intensify. Killian closed his eyes and covered his ears, he could feel the power of her song starting to take over his rational mind. "No, no I won't give in," he shouted as he staggered to the middle of the deck trying to reach his flute, "Damn you! Damn your power!" he cursed and fell to his knees. Killian knew it was only a matter of time til he succumbed to the power of the song. People in the town were even beginning to be affected and they weren't standing right next to the siren, he had no chance.

Killian crawled to the flute and stretched out his hand, mere inches from the magic instrument. Suddenly Killian was on his feet and running to the railing of the boat and leaping into the water, its icy grip enfolding him as his mind surrendered to the song.

In the space of a few moments, Narissa's mood changed wildly. From annoyed, if not, angry, to utterly gleeful. A wide smile came to her pink lips once more, and with a twist of her body she threw herself back into the water just behind her--splash! She swam between the rocks with a few flicks of her blue tail, and then powerful thrusts propelled her in the direction of the ship. She couldn't sing underwater, so the magic of her song started to dissipate. The melody still clung to the air, but no longer did it have any words. In a few minutes, it would be silent aside from the waves against the rocks.

'Only one?' she thought as she swam, a little fight inside her following between her curiosity and her more malevolent, playful desires. In the end, as she spotted her prey, she made a decision. She would get the best of both words: answers, and a plaything. She would use this one to saite all her desires before she ultimately did as she always would with people she plucked out of her waters. She giggled. Yes, this plan was perfect.

The siren slowed, and unraveled the heavy chain from her body. It wasn't terribly long, enough to get perhaps three loops around a body, but it would do for dragging someone along. To him, she would appear from the dark depths, white hair flowing behind her, smile on her face, and red, hungry eyes locked upon him as she grasped that chain between her hands. She swam right toward him, and the moment she could she tried to give what she promised--a wam embrace.

Her hands would extend outward, powerful arms trying to snag him, and wrap that chain around him. Once, twice. In a past life, Narissa had been a warrior of sorts for her people, so not only did her people tend toward being stronger than humans, but she was one of the stronger examples of her kind. What that said of her prey, though, was only that lest he was the same way, in a pure contest of strength, it was likely she would win.

Her tail wouldnt stop flcking though, even after she connected. Even if she couldn't get her arms or chain around him, by sheer virtue of being much more nimble in the water, and using her body, she would push him along. Intent on pushing him away from his ship, and the anchor he could use to climb back up, she wanted him further into the center of the bay where there'd be no help... only her.

As soon as he hit the water, Killian could feel the power of the siren's song begin to lessen. As he began to swim towards the surface he could see the figure of the siren begin to form out of the murky depths. She was beautiful with her long hair flowing in the currents, but the look in her eyes told him there was more then an innocent swim on her mind. Killian reached for the chain to the anchor but knew it was futile to even try to escape, the siren would be on him in no time. Reaching into his pocket he cracked a small tile and an air bubble floated up and surrounded his head allowing him to breath. The siren reached out but before she could entrap him in her arms, her momentum slammed her into him and carrying him deeper into the water.

Narissa's powerful tail waved up and down as she pushed the man away from the anchor, having little trouble wrapping her arms around him and pulling the heavy chain against his back at that point. Unless the man had some plan in mind to stop her, she would be trying to wrap the chain around his torso once, twice, and three times as they moved into the centre of the bay. Around his waist, just below where she had 'run into' him at around the upper chest level.

Killian knew the spell tiles power would only last so long before giving out and he would drowned. Killian tried to struggle free but the siren's strength held him fast and he could feel the chain wrapped tightly around his chest, almost constricting his breathing. Killian's mind raced with any possible spell he could use to free himself but everyone he thought of required somatic components and in his current situation he wouldn't be able to move.

Once the chain was secure, Narissa's tail ceased flicking about, and she lifted up to peer her red eyes at her prey. Her tongue poked out, running across her lower lip, then her upper lip--when she spoke, her words weren't muffled and distorted from the water. She spoke as a human would on land, clear and understandable. She knew the common tongue. "And who are you then?" she asked in a playful manner, "Just how were you able to resist my song for so long?"

She left one hand to hold the chain, partially wrapped around her forearm, as her other hand lifted to poke at the air bubble around her prey's head, while giggling softly. She wondered if it would just pop, or if it acted more as a permeable barrier. "If you don't answer me, I'll drag you to the bottom of this bay, wrap these chains around one of the ships already sunk there, and see just how long you can last." Despite what was an obvious threat, her tone still carried with it something more akin to a mischevous fae-creature than genuine malice.

It was clear--in her mind she had won this little game. The same confidence, and self-assuredness from before now visible, where before it had been hidden. "What's your name?" she added. Her eyes narrowed, and a wicked smile came to her face. "Or should I just call you little toy?"

Killian glared at the siren as she dragged him deeper into the bay. "My name Death to you siren, I will rid the waters of your malice and free the people of your tyranny," he spat angrily as he struggled to get free. The chains were very tight around him limiting his movement too well. Killian could sense the mischief in the siren's voice and felt a twinge of intrigue stir in his gut. "Call me what you wish witch, when I get free I will run you through," he said quietly wriggling a hand free of the chain. He waited to act until he would be sure he could get out of the chain. "What do you have planned, you wish to spirit me away and use me for your debased pleasures? Need the touch of a man do you sea witch?" he asked goading the siren to by some time.

Narissa snorted, and her cheeks ballooned up. However, she couldn't hold that edge of laughter very long and burst out into a fit of giggles at the response. "Oh, you're precious!" she exclaimed, between the laughter, "Free the people of my tyranny... whatever are you even talking about?" She had to stifle another giggle at the comment on running her through, and she flicked the chain as a simple response. When Death questioned her plans, she quirked an eyebrow, wiggling in place. Her voice took on a deathly serious tone. "First, I'll get some answers. Then, I'll use you to saite my hungers."

Her eyes narrowed, clearly irritated by the comment. "Afterward, I'll drag you to the bottom of the bay and see how long it takes for--" she said as she poked the air bubble again, "This to run out." She beamed at that, as if her plan was the most clever and original thing in the bay, a wicked look flashing through her eyes. She didn't notice the man wiggling a hand free, but as confident as she was she'd won, she just as easily turned her back toward him. One flick of her tail, then another, she propelled herself down toward the seafloor, in the direction of the rocks.

Her left hand remained clasped tight to the chain, dragging her treat along with her. She shook her head, trying to push aside her annoyance. 'Stupid. I'll let you live if you don't annoy me. I want to have fun, not be insulted... ' It was all a game to her, and this was no different.

Killian grunted as he was pulled along by the chain wrapped around him. His confidence in his own skills was beginning to waver as he was pulled deeper into the bay, if he didn't act soon it wouldn't matter if he killed the siren his bubble spell would be spent and he would drown anyway. As he was dragged along, Killian tried to think of something he could do but unfortunately any battle spell he could use would be vastly ineffective under water. "So siren, that's your big plan? Bed me then leave me to drown? How clever are you," he said patronizingly, "a child, no a sea slug could think of a more original plan," he goaded.
