Jason Williams was a rather successful businessman who had lost his wife to cancer merely a year ago. Since then his life had been consumed by his stepdaughter who had moved back home and his work, the two things he could truly take pride in. He had built his investment firm from the ground up into the international powerhouse that it was now, and funded projects of every size.

Though he and his stepdaughter spent most of the free time he had together, it wasn't until now that he'd been able to book a vacation with her. Soon they'd be off on a first class jet to Hawaii where they'd have an island getaway and some true time to bond together. He felt strange turning off his work phone and leaving his responsibilities to the CFO, but someone had to be in charge for the week that he would be away.

Being in such a prominent role with his company he made sure to stay in shape, running and lifting each day, giving him a lean, muscular build. He kept his graying salt and pepper hair short and neat with his sharp jaw clean shaven. His deep blue eyes seemed to pop in contrast to his hair, a smile almost always highlighting his high cheekbones.

It was a Friday evening and he had just arrived home at the luxurious mansion he and his stepdaughter shared, complete with an Olympic sized pool, hot tub, wine cellar, and a basement theatre. Parking his BMW in the garage, he proceeded inside before heading up to his daughter's room and knocking lightly before entering. "Hey, are you almost ready? We'll need to leave soon!"

Macie Callaghan doubled, then tripled checked everything within her suitcase. She'd be away from home for the entire week and wanted to be absolutely sure that she had everything that might be needed. Her step father had booked them a much needed holiday away, what with the anniversary of her mother's death falling upon them, they needed it. Even thinking about it now, she could hardly believe that it had been that long ago. Grief and loss were strange things, sometimes it felt like only yesterday and other times it felt so much longer than just that one year.

She missed her mother dearly, just thinking about her caused Macie to rub the trinket hanging from around her necklace. Her dark brown eyes glanced down at the piece of jewelry. It had been her mothers and was something that she wore so as to keep her close. Her mothers decline in health and ultimate passing was so devastating, Macie had temporarily left college. Luckily her university had allowed her to take a gap year mid education and the twenty-two year old was due to return this semester to continue.

It had been a year after all and she supposed that it was time to start getting back to some sense of normality, hence the trip away. To be honest Jason had been like a rock for her and she him, they had grown close since her mother's funeral. He was a good man, who had completely changed their lives. Her mother had met Jason when Macie was sixteen, up until this point they had lived quite a basic life. With her mother working two jobs to try and keep food on the table. However Jason changed all that, the very successful business man had welcomed them into his home and gave them a life of luxury. When her mother died, he had allowed Macie to move back in with him and she was forever grateful.

The half Filipino beauty grabbed her jacket and was just placing it on when there was a knock at her door. Jason came in and she gave him a warm smile, "all done... just." She said with a small laugh, running a hand through the waves of her long black hair. "What about you? I don't have to search your bag for any awful tropical shirts do I?" She joked. To be fair Jason had a very good sense of style and was quite the snappy dresser, well you'd expect nothing less for man of his standing.
