RE: The Sweet Warmth

The humans, they had claimed this world for centuries. They had built massive cities, raped the land, murdered animals nearly to extinction. They were like parasites to this world. And as they drained the planet of their resources, the Lycans lived in secret. They hid from the human world trying to survive. But as resources depleted, and their lands grew smaller and smaller, it became harder to survive. Their numbers dwindled, especially as more and more diseases began claiming their kind. Diseases that never existed until humans began toying with the delicate fabric of this world. Female Lycans eventually became rare, treasured commodities. They were key to the survival of their kind.

But then it happened; The event. It was as if the planet had enough of human kind, and decided to reset the world. Suddenly, within days, human kind was brought to the edge of extinction. Societies that had taken centuries to build suddenly collapsed and crumbled. What was left of the humans were forced to adapt for survival. And suddenly, just like that, Human and Lycan were placed back on equal footing. No longer did the Lycan of the world need to hide from the humans. And as the planet began to reclaim the lands from the humans, so did the Lycan. Tribes began stepping out from the shadows, no longer afraid of the humans. Most only wanted peace. They wanted to live in harmony beside the remaining humans.

Over the years the Lycan helped the humans. They showed them how to survive in the harshness of this new world. Taught them to hunt, how to farm, how to build shelters and how to make medicines. Humans began building their own tribes, starting over. And for a while things were good. But peace was only temporary, and as it was in human nature, they wanted more. Always more. Not simply content with the land they had, or the food they hunted, they wanted more. And soon the Human and Lycan tribes were at odds with one another. What started as simple conflict eventually turned to all out war. Children died. Families were torn apart. Blood stained the lands.

For years this conflict only continued to grow, and Lycan had to do what they could to survive. As the human population began to grow, the Lycan could no longer hide. They only had one option. They needed to grow as well. But without females they risked extinction at the hands of the human tribes. So, they did what they had to. They began using female humans to breed and mate. The results were not pure Lycan, but close enough. Their pups were not as strong as a pure wolf pup, but they were still stronger and faster than humans.

The Oroku Tribe lived on the other side of the river from the humans. There was a treaty between the clans. After a particularly bloody battle a few years ago the leader of the humans agreed to stay on their side of the river, and not allow his people to hunt on Oroku land. The agreement was simple. Any male humans found on this side of the river would be killed, and any females would be kept. But humans never seemed to learn, or respect boundaries. They believed that all land was theirs.

Today a hunting party of the Oroku tribe had heard of a heard of cattle that was venturing across their land. The party was led by Kotu, the Master Hunter. He was a large, silver wolf with a streak of black running down his back. He stood 7'1" with black eyes, and pearly white fangs. His favorite weapon was an Obsidian blade spear. He was leading a party of hunters to track down the cattle, but what he found was not the cattle, but the human party. Sniffing the air he could sense 3 fertile females among the group.

Instructing his party to keep low and out of sight, they began following the humans from a safe distance, waiting for the right time to strike.
