Alexander Caine walked into the armory with a deep sigh, a bundle of leather in his arms. He wasn't looking forward to this. His dragon companion had been notoriously resistant to the idea that she needed to wear a saddle for him. In the end they had agreed upon getting the kingdom's leatherworkers to fashion a harness that wouldn't be as restrictive as a saddle would be. He was fairly certain that he was skilled enough to ride her without falling off, the hard part was getting the harness on her. Thusfar the two of them didn't get along at all, though the rules of their order were clear in that they couldn't switch partners.

The handsome teen sighted her across the armory and started up towards her. By now she was familiar with his bright blond hair and nearly emerald green eyes. He wore leather armor that allowed him to move freely and had a longsword at his side and a crossbow on his back. He approached her and tried his best to put on a smile. "Alright, here's the harness they worked up for you." He said as he started to spread the straps out on the ground, making sure that everything was in order. Thanks to her size there was a good bit of leather there. "Where do you want to start? The way they explained it most of it goes over your torso but there's also straps for your legs to help me up and down. Plus there's a bridle and yes you are going to have to wear it." He said, waiting for her to crouch down so that he could help get her dressed for their journey. It was a simple scouting mission to confirm reports of independent dragons in the nearby mountains, an easy mission intended to help them learn to work together.

Zizl was a terrifying large wyvern and her personality matched her looks. She was not a friendly one she was a cute baby for a few months and she then just grew like crazy she was huge now and only 2. She groaned she hated the idea of being ridden. She knelt down as low as she could for him but was still pretty high up

People often commented on how she had grown out of control from the cute little dragon that Alexander had started with. Most people avoided her as best they could, though Alexander never really seemed to be afraid of her. He knew Zizl well enough to know she wasn't going to take a chunk out of him at the very least.

When she knelt down for him he smiled at her. "Thanks for that." He said, wanting to be nice when she was behaving. He started by putting the leather cuffs on her ankles. Those were largely there in case he needed to use the edge of one for a boost, which he did in order to start putting the harness proper on. He worked quickly over her chest and shoulders, running straps along her body and tightening buckles. He put his back into it when he tightened them, knowing he couldn't actually tighten them enough to cause her any discomfort. If anything the harness being tight would mean it wouldn't chafe. The front of the harness supported itself on her shoulders and around her collar while the back tightened around her waist before descending lower.

Alexander had to pause for a moment. He knew how the harness connected but hadn't really thought about it until now. The lower portion of the harness hugged her thighs for support. More importantly, the buckle actually connected on the inner thigh rather than the outer so he'd actually have to get under her to see what he was doing. "Could you stand up a bit so I could finish connecting this?" He asked, quickly adding in "We're almost done" in the hopes of placating her. Zizl was plenty smart enough to know how the harness had to be worn.

Zizl wasnt fond of this harness idea. She pushed herself up onto her hind legs startling a few people who backed away. She groaned her thigh muscles were strong enough for her to stand straight up.

Alexander was aware that she could stand on her hind legs but it still came as a bit of a surprise when she did. He stepped up to her and began to attach the straps to her thighs, leaning in to guide the buckle out from behind her, close enough that his breath was hot against her inner thigh. She could tell he was making a point not to look towards her sex. The last thing he wanted to do was anything that might bring her toppling back down on him in anger. Once he'd finished he quickly began to move out from under her. "There, that should about do it." he said. Next he'd go for the bridle, of course, which he was sure she wasn't looking forward to.

Zizl growled in warning as he got close to her sex. She landed down hard on her front claws with a loud thud. She snarled slightly at the bridle. If her life wasnt at risk shed rather eat alexander and some other humans in the area. Her spieces of dragon is strong and violent a speieces whos ancestors diet was humans and smaller dragons now she was stuck eating large hooved animals they just didnt scream enough to her liking

When she growled at him he made a point to turn his head away more obviously. He had already intentionally avoided looking but the gesture was meant to make it clear to her that that was the case. When it came time to slip the bridle on her he gave a little sigh. "This wouldn't really be necessary if you would wear a saddle. It's kinda one or the other." He said as he slipped the bridle onto her and took the reigns.

Alexander climbed onto her back easily thanks to the straps she was now wearing and settled himself into the center of the harness. His body pressed against hers without any saddle between them and he clipped a few straps that went between his belt and her harness so he wouldn't fall off regardless of how she might twist and turn during flight.

He didn't need to actually use the reigns right now so he tucked them into the harness and simply gripped the strap that ran across her shoulders to stabilize himself. "Alright. Whenever you're ready." He said, knowing she'd just as soon be done with the armory and up in the air anyway.

Zizl was ready to take off the whole time. She waited impatiently knowing she couldnt take off with out the delicious looking human that was her rider. She hissed at the bridal being put on. As soon as she heard alright she was in the sky fast she was large, fast, and a deadly predator. She was hungry so she after doing a flip in attempt to accidentally drop him. She searched for something to eat her stomach rumbling

"Knock that off!" Alexander growled as she flipped, snapping him backward and forcing him to tug at the leather straps to pull himself in close to her body again. "I get that you're big enough that I don't weigh much to you but it's still probably not a great idea to shift me around during flight. And it's not like you can drop me anyway." He explained. She couldn't throw him thanks to the straps that held him in place but there was a bit of give in them so she might be able to get him twisted up in a way that would make him a particularly unbalanced load while she was trying to fly.

He could actually feel her stomach rumbling and sighed. That wasn't a huge surprise. He leaned across her back, pressing his body against hers in a way a saddle wouldn't have allowed for, and picked up his bow. "Get me in close to the forest when we pass over and I'll snag you some breakfast." He said simply, still a little annoyed that she had so recently tried to kill him.

Zizi roared at the thought of him getting her food for her. She spotted a farmers cattle herd and let out a deep purr. She wasnt allowed to eat live stock unless Alexander bought it for her. A dragon stealing was illegal and would get her and her rider punished. Zizi swooped down grabbing a cow with her claws and started to fly off with it.

Alexander groaned as he saw Zizi set her sights on the cow. He knew where this was headed and he knew it wasn't within his power to stop her so he stowed his bow quickly and held on as she went into a dive. When she lifted the cow up it was struggling like crazy in her grip and making rather pathetic noises. She'd no doubt punctured one or more vital organs, just not any that would kill the cow outright.

The human on Zizi's back looped his fingers under one of the straps that crossed her shoulders and tugged against it, giving him leverage to worry his kneecap below her shoulderblade in a way that was bound to be unpleasant. His free hand held him close to her body so she couldn't throw him back against the straps that kept her from letting him plummet to his death. "We've been over this, Zee." He said, using the nickname largely to annoy her. "You can't steal shit. Now take us down so I can pay for the cow. You have to land to eat anyway and there'll be no beef for either of us if you get us in trouble again." As he spoke he let off pressure on his knee but it was clear that he could go right back to prodding her with it whenever he wanted. Holding himself so close to her let something else rub against her back as well. Her hatred of saddles meant Alexander had to ride bareback and that meant every inch of his body pressed against her when he held on tight like that.

Zizi roared at him making the cattle scatter. The two ranchers appeared rushing to gather the herd a distance away from Zizi. Zizi growled at him and landed her weight crushing the cow ending its cries. She began tearing thw flesh of the cow happily devouring it. The ranchers rode up on their horse guns pointed at Zizi. Nowadays dragons were the biggest threat to humans so thier weapons were capable of killing one.

While their guns might have been able to kill a dragon Alexander reasoned that they'd probably just piss off Zizi. The flintlock rifles the men held weren't terribly accurate which meant that they couldn't zero in on the dragon's heart terribly well or aim for her eyes with any certainty. Even if they did inflict a mortal wound on her it probably wouldn't down her quick enough to save their lives. "Wait!" He called out to them. "I'll pay for the cow."

With that he had to climb off of Zizi. Normally a saddle for a dragon her size would have had a rope he could let down to make that easier but since she refused to wear one all he had to go with were the various leather straps she was wearing. He decided to climb up to her shoulder rather than try to climb down and tapped her on the neck. "Hey, Zi." He said to make sure he had her attention. When she looked to him Alexander gently gripped the bridle strap that ran under her chin and stepped off of her shoulder. Her neck muscles were strong enough that his weight shouldn't bother her much at all. With him hanging under the dragon's jaw all she had to do was lower her head to set him down. He figured Zizi might have normally made this difficult but considering she had to lean down to get at the cow he doubted she would take too long to set him down.

Zizi ignored Alexander she moved down to eat the cow lowering him down as she tore flesh and crunched bone she usually ate 2-3 cows. The men looked at him not happy one spoke "your dragon killed a vaulable heifer. You should keep it well fed so it doesnt kill peoples valuble livestock. The next rancher might not be so forgiving.

"She has a very thin line between 'is hungry' and 'steals something to eat'." Alexander explained with an exasperated tone in his voice before adding in. "Besides, I offered to pay for the cow. The next rancher might be smart enough to realize that she's a bit bigger than your average dragon and shooting her probably would have been a grave mistake." He said, pulling out his coin purse. Rather than argue over price he simply picked on that was a little on the high side of fair and held the money out to the farmer. "That's for the cow and to clean up any mess she leaves. Not that she's liable to leave any left." He said before returning to Zizi.

"We've been over this, Zi. I can afford more food for you if you let me haggle first." He said, using the fact that she was bent over to eat to climb back onto her back. With that he laid his back against hers and hooked his fingers underneath the harness so he wouldn't slip if she started to move about. Thinking better of this he also clipped the rings on his belt just in case she decided to take off without warning him. It was a distinct possibility knowing her.

Zizi kept eating the cow with alot of disgusting bone cracking sounds. She ate in a very similar style to a crocodile. She's unable to move her jaw side to side to grind her food so she just swallowed chunks whole even bone. Eventually she'd be big enough to swallow a horse whole. When finished zizi was bloody and smelt bad but didn't really care. She moved fast, jerking Alexander around as she took off flying. Zizi continuedgoing in the direction she was instructed earlier. She atleast knew she had to do her duties. Zizi was flying when she stopped noticing smell, a dragon below smelt of human blood. She couldnt see him but could smell himas she dove down to land. She looked around the only sign was blood in the grass and alot of it.

Alexander wasn't really surprised when she took off without the slightest bit of warning. He honestly wasn't sure whether she knew he'd clipped in or just wasn't care whether or not she killed him. Either way, he waited until she leveled out to spin himself around. "It would be nice if you gave me a little warning before you just take off like that." Alexander said, knowing that it was probably going to go into one ear and out the other.

Likewise, he wasn't surprised when she dove down without any warning. He braced himself against the straps that ran over her shoulders to avoid landing too hard against her back. Once they were on the ground he unclipped from her harness and hopped off. It didn't take him long to find one of the dragon's tracks, though what he saw made him groan.

"Fuck, it's a chameleon." The rider swore. Dragons capable of camouflage didn't generally get that big, meaning Zizi could easily kill one if she got the chance. They also weren't all that great in the air since simply turning blue didn't do much to disguise obviously being a dragon. "I've got an idea and it's not really a great one..." He said, pulling out a knife and gently nicking his collar bone. The smell of human blood should draw it at least close enough for it to get a look. "I think it goes without saying but don't let it eat me, alright?" He said, turning his eyes to the trees to see if any of them moved.

Zizi looked around and growled in a direction when she spotted movement. The dragon was actually quite large, almost as big as Zizi. Zizi went up on her hind legs and tried to look intimidating but the dragon was not intimidated. The dragon ran a zizi, attacking but zizi rammed him to the side. He caught himself and roared at her, he https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/005/121/909/large/kullen-macfarlane-antsingy-leaf-chameleon-dragon.jpg?1488633366 turned and took the chance to ram into her stomach and his tusks stabbed into Zizi's stomach. She roared and he quickly moved away. Zizi fell forward in pain barely catching herself and knocking Alexander around. She was bleeding pretty bad from the wounds. The dragon went after Alexander while Zizi was distracted by the pain. His intention to eat Alexander quite clear.
