DA's Character Journal

I figured it was high time I made a character journal seeing as I have several characters with full blown profiles, many of which have been in stories that haven't gotten off the ground or just plain died before their time. Given this, I don't want to waste them and decided it would be nice to collect them in a single location where I could pull on them from time to time should I desire to do so. They are all tweakable depending on the story (ie, genre, setting, etc), but they will give me a base to start with at the very least. Plus, maybe some of them will find a story where they will actually make it to an ending.

Also, for the record, I'm not one of those who views my characters as dead and thus off the market of usage if they die in a story. Sorry, I just don't roll that way. <.<

Anyway, onto my characters. I do ask that people do not post in this journal. Again, this is my collection of characters that have actually made it to a point where I created an actual profile of some kind for them (not all characters I've written have one, but a fair number do).

History: Max grew up in upstate NY as an only child. Wanting to pursue a career in dance, she left home at the age of 18 and set her sights on attending one of the prestigious dance schools located in New York City. While trying to make it on her own and get into the school, she was swept off her feet by a guy she met at her job. Unfortunately, that ended in a complete disaster. Fearful of her ex, she fled New York all together without word to any of her friends or family and set her sights on Sunny Hill, CA--another city of opportunity and home of yet another wonderful dance school she hoped to try and get into. The move terrified her, but she knew she had no choice. She just hoped that in time she'd be able to contact her family and let them know her whereabouts and that her ex would soon forget her and leave her alone once and for all.

He also has a strange charisma that tends to draw people to him. He has an even darker side as well--a temper that can flare when provoked, often times leading him into uncontrollable fits of rage.

Short Description: Manager and owner of the Daily Grind Cafe--a local coffee shop in Sunny Hill. He tries to come off as suave, but is a complete and total sleaze ball. He is passive-aggressive, arrogant and demanding--especially of his employees. And he has a thing for one employee in particular--Maxine Walters.

Personality: Shy, soft-spoken, craves affection on varying levels (it can be a kind word to a hug), is a bit naive though willing to learn and tends to learn and adapt quickly, has an appreciation for all the 'true beauty' (her own definition, of course) there is in the world.
History: Kaydence grew up in the small town of Bellell and as an only child--though her parents tried for more children for several years both before and after her birth. Her mother died when she was fairly young, but not before teaching her how to sew her first seam along with a few other simple stitches. The foundation of sewing that her mother had taught her before her early death was the foundation of what would eventually become Kaydence's passion--sewing. She would practice for hours, pushing herself willingly, happy to learn and feeling accomplished when she succeeded. It didn't take long for her to become an amazingly skilled seamstress, one that several in the small town of Bellelle would come to if they ever needed some sort of mending done. Kaydence's father passed away when she turned 18, leaving her on her own--something that frightened her terribly. Knowing she needed to make something of herself if she was to survive and having no prospects for attachments, she decided to leave Bellelle and move to Vertibri Patina where she hoped to find a job in a seamstress' shop as well as a place to live.
Family: Kaydence is the only daughter of William and Margaret Holloway, both deceased.

Personality: Comes off as superficial and materialistic (though she's really confused, depressed and scared), somewhat attention seeking.
History: Her parents think they know her so well, that shopping, cheerleading and John Gilroy are all there is to her life. They are oblivious to her problems (not even noticing that her boyfriend, now ex, was abusive) and think that a trip to the mall will solve everything. After all, being popular and dating the star quarterback is the cure all in their minds. Little do they know those are the crux of her problems nor how hard it was for her to take the initial steps in starting to sever those ties because the other cheerleaders and football players are making it difficult for her every step of the way. To help cope with her problems, she started down a very dangerous path of self injury by way of wrist-banging. She also suffers from an anorexia, an eating disorder.

Background
Personality: She is very nervous and timid when it comes to her stepbrother, Brandon. At other times, she tries to be assertive even though she is still a bit on the quieter side. She is not afraid to speak up for herself in general except when her stepbrother is around or in matters concerning him or her stepfather.
History: Growing up as a young girl, Patty had a decent childhood. Her parents had a great relationship and she got along well with both of them, though she was more of a daddy's girl. Her father died in a terrible car accident and eventually her mother remarried causing them both to move. In remarrying, both her mother and she had their last name changed (though Patty was not happy about this) due to her stepfather's insistence. After her mother remarried, tensions began to grow between Patty and her mother and so did the abuse. Her stepfather abused her mother any time she defied him so she eventually just started doing as told to keep that at a minimum. It also meant having to abide by rules that were harsh and strict and often times made no sense. Patty also noticed that her stepbrother began looking at her in ways that made her uncomfortable and thus started her 'new life' with the LeMay men.
Family: She is the only daughter to Jane LeMay (LeMay is the newly married name and once her mother remarried both she and her daughter had their last name changed) and her biological father is deceased. Her mother remarried Cole LeMay who has one son, Brandon LeMay.
Likes: Reading, writing, talking on the phone.

History: Cassie lost both of her parents at the age of 18 due to a fatal car accident. Being 18, and thus an adult, she chose not to enter the foster care system and as such went it on her own. Her boyfriend at the time of her parents' deaths used her vulnerability as a means to take her virginity. Once he got what he wanted from her a few times, he left her, leaving her alone and virtually friendless. He also made sure she knew that the only reason he was with her to begin with was to fulfill a dare made amongst his friends because she was viewed as a 'pity case' to everyone in her school. Depressed, Cassie eventually left the area seeking cheaper housing and a job to support herself.

He's always been protective of his sister, but never in a bad way as he's always encouraged her to get out and live life… make friends, find a boyfriend, etc. Watching his sister go through such troubles with bullies and being rejected again and again pained him deeply and when he was able to get her out of Boston to make a fresh start elsewhere, he jumped at the opportunity. It meant giving up his scholarship at Boston University and his initial goal of getting a degree in Biology, something his sister never knew about, but he didn't regret it. Not once. He figured he could pursue his goals in other ways and when he learned about the hospital in Sunny Hill and managed to get himself a job there, he went for it knowing he'd work his way toward pursuing his goals via other routes. Being the sort of person he is, it was something he considered an adventure rather than a hindrance because getting his sister to a new place where she had a chance at a new life where people could possibly accept her was what mattered most to him. Everything else was secondary.
Family: Mark is the older fraternal twin to Murrin Owens and son to Michael and Hannah Owens.
Likes: Seeing his sister smile, helping people, wrestling (watching).

Personality: She is quiet, shy and cautious given that she's just out of a bad and abusive relationship that ended in a rape. She doesn't trust easily, but wants to and is in need of finding those she can since she's lost hope and faith in humanity.

History: She grew up having a decent family life. Her parents cared for her and were able to provide for her. However, both died when she was 18 due to a car accident, leaving her on her own and having to fend for herself. She met her boyfriend shortly afterward and he seemed too perfect for words until his true colors were shown. It was then that she realized he was abusive, but unfortunately it took her about 2 years to finally get the courage to leave him. Unfortunately, he stalked her afterwards and eventually raped her, which led her to being incarcerated and sent to Miami while he remained free.

Family: She was the only child to Christopher and Mary Harris, both of which are now deceased.

History: She grew up with a loving family who cared for her and provided for her. They even had the means to send her away to college. Unfortunately, during the latter part of her first year, there was a party on her floor that rendered her incarcerated in the end and thus separated from her family forever. Prior to that, she had a decent life though she was considered to be a wallflower given her quiet demeanor.

Family: She was the only child to Harry and Leslie Crawford, both still residing in upstate New York. Though both feel nothing but shame and disregard for their daughter since her arrest.

Background ~

Personality: She is a bit on the quiet side as well as shy. But around the right people, she will open up without issue. She definitely likes her luxuries and is a bit of a princess in that regard. However, she is hardly the sort to look down on others or judge people. She also enjoys getting attention.

History: She grew up in a wealthier family and thus never wanted for anything. In fact, she had more than most and grew accustomed to having luxuries available that the average person typically never had. She wasn't the sort to flaunt or brag about having access to such things, but she definitely liked having such things readily available and took full advantage of them nonetheless. Overall, up until the day she decided to take a more daring risk and get a tattoo, she had a decent relationship with both of her parents. After that, the relationship she held with them both went downhill completely. It wasn't long before they turned her in and had her arrested. They were mortified and disgusted that she would so openly try to tarnish the family's name and status by pulling such a stunt. Wanting to make a point and example of her, her parents made sure she was sent promptly to Miami for her actions.

Reason For Incarceration: When she found out that she was secretly adopted merely for the sake of her parents being able to financially gain assets from her father's parents' company (which had made it a condition that they have a child under their care up until the age of 25), she took matters into her own hands. Especially when she heard whispers that her parents planned 'to get rid of her' as soon as all financial matters were settled. She arranged for her parents to have an 'accident', but unfortunately, the plans were intercepted and she was ratted out before they had a chance to be implemented. She was promptly arrested for attempted murder and then sent immediately to Miami prison.

Personality: She is quiet, shy and used to living a life full of luxury. She loves being pampered and enjoys receiving attention and tends to get depressed when she doesn't receive it. She doesn't like feeling threatened and will act rashly when she feels that she is and this means that she might not always think things through very carefully, so she needs guidance when such instances occur. She is a bit emotional at times, but also very devoted and loyal unless wronged.

History: She grew up in a wealthy family in Boston and thus never wanted for anything. She loved the luxurious lifestyle and all that it had to offer, relishing the pretty things she was able to wear and use as a result. A decent person, in general, she never bragged, but that didn't stop her from loving and wanting everything the luxurious lifestyle she lived had to offer. As a result, she grew up loving to get pampered and being treated like a princess. It also made her the sort to seek attention, but so rarely she was able to get it. This often times would make her depressed and pine until she was able to get the attention she sorely needed. She always knew she was adopted and she had no issue with this since she'd been led to believe her parents actually cared for her. But eventually she learned that her parents' reasons for adopting her had a darker purpose and the day she came upon that information was the day her life changed forever.

History: Alice grew up in England, raised by her Muggle parents, Richard and Katherine Snow. She always knew she was different, being able to do things that were typically unexplainable. In other words, magical. For a few years, she wouldn't admit that it was indeed magic she was doing uncontrollably, but eventually at the age of 7, when she'd accidentally shield herself from an angry bunch of bees, she knew without a doubt. So the day she received her letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it was of no surprise to her. However, it was a surprise to her Muggle parents. It was then that she had to explain to them the way of things. Luckily, both took to the idea rather well. Unfortunately, during her early years of attending school, Alice's mother took ill with pneumonia and died. Her death affected her father so badly that he was unable to cope properly and thus took everything out on his daughter. Blaming her for not being able to help as a magical being, for not being around. In the end, he withdrew and started to ignore her, making up excuses as to why she couldn't return home for the holidays until finally she just stopped returning home all together and estranged herself entirely from her family, losing herself in her studies, knowing she'd never be good enough for anyone.

History: Lorelai is the middle child of three girls - Emily, Lorelai, Irene. Being the middle child automatically marked her as different, but knowing from an early age that she could do magic made her even more so. She was bullied relentlessly and was unable to find any support from her family and as such her relationships with her parents and sisters faltered to a point where they shattered. In order to cope with her pains, she turned to cutting. But over time and with the help and support of the people at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she finally was able to stop. She had few friends at the school while attending due to her struggles with her home life and her personal esteem issues. As such, she immersed herself in her studies and received top grades while at school. However, upon finishing, she hoped to to branch out a bit when attending Hogwarts Secondary, to step out of her comfort zone a bit and learn to trust that no matter what, everyone has the potential to be good.

History: Emilia is the oldest of two girls, the younger (Sarah-Anne) being a Muggle just like her parents. She'd always been a hardworker, labeled an overachiever even as a young child. But despite her work ethic, it was clear that she had a soft spot for others, always willing to help. It was just a matter of breaking her out of her shy shell first. When Emilia received her her letter for attending the school for Witchcraft and Wizardry in the northeast of United States, her parents were both shocked yet elated. Her, sister, however, harbored resentment. Emilia tried her best to not let this bother her, to hold onto a relationship with her sister no matter how horribly she was treated. Eventually the treatment spilled over into how she was treated by her parents. Since she had to move away while her sister remained at home, it only made sense that the bond between her younger sister and them would remain and grow and for that she didn't fault them, though that never stopped the pain. Over the years, Emilia grew numb to her family's treatment, but she maintained her ties. But when the opportunity to attend Hogwarts Secondary arose, she grabbed onto it and would not let go. Her parents and sister tried to convince her to stay local, but she refused. And though she doesn't regret the choice, it still pains her to see the relationship she has with her family slowly dwindle into nothing as her years at Secondary pass.

History: Norah grew up in England, raised by her Muggle parents, Mark and Judith Walker. Overall, her life was relatively decent until the day she started realizing she was a bit different from most - in other words, that she was magical. Her parents distanced themselves from her a bit, not wanting to converse with her much out of fear of what she could potentially do and because they just weren't willing to try and understand what was going on. When she'd finally gotten her letter, rather than feel relief, they just felt disgust. However, they tolerated things and maintained a basic level of civility and responsibility over their daughter until the 'incident' occurred. When Norah was 16, her first (and only ever) boyfriend at that time let his true colors finally be known. The two had been sexually active, but not overtly and it was he who'd convinced her to become so after much coaxing and pressuring. Shortly after she lost her virginity to him, he held her hostage for 2 days where he tortured her, letting her know that he'd targeted her all along for the whorish mudblood she was. His ideals fell along those of a different vein, those of the Death Eaters of old. Thus his goal had been to expose and humiliate as many Muggle-borns as possible, starting with Norah. She eventually got away when he slipped up and she managed to get a hold of her wand. She promptly turned him in though it took her a while to recover after what had happened. An extended stay in the hospital wing at the school had been required along with counseling. And due to the magic and methods used her scars from the torture would forever remain. After the incident, Norah's parents only became more fearful of that which they didn't understand and figured it best that she remain under the care of the school until she was legal able to be on her own. Luckily, the headmaster of Hogwarts primary agreed to this and allowed for it, wanting the best for Norah. Upon graduating from primary, she immediately sought out education at Secondary where she knew she wanted to study to become a Healer where she could put her talents to use in helping others and seeing to it that they were healthy and well. When not in school, she lives in a youth hostel just south of Hogsdale.

Background ~

Personality: A bit of an introvert, but knows when to assert. She is quirky, often called eccentric and very impulsive when it comes to almost everything. Her emotions tend to guide and rule most of her decisions, but she has a good heart and good intentions when she makes those decisions. She's a good friend and quick to defend those she cares about.

History: Cecilie had always been strong in her magic, but never quite knew what was different about her until the day arrived when she received her letter to attend primary for wizarding school in the states. Her Muggle parents loved and supported her abilities, totally thrilled that their daughter was a witch. Both had always embraced her uniqueness to its fullest, not just in magic, but in everything since she'd always marched to the beat of a different drum. About a month before she had to leave to attend school, her parents ended up in a fatal accident leaving her an orphan and placing her in foster care system. She ended up under the care of Gary and Leah Stewart, two very abusive people who somehow always managed to stay under the radar no matter what they did. Given the way her foster parents were, Cecilie always longed for when school would approach, since it would mean time away from them and she always requested to stay over the holiday season as well just so she could stay away even longer. As a result of her troubled family life, Cecilie's emotions tended to run raw most of the time, guiding her actions more often than not and thus making her very impulsive and quick to react rather than the sort to think things through first. As such, during her latter years of primary, she ended up giving herself to a guy she thought cared for her only to find out he didn't. But she refused to let it get her down and decided to chalk it up to experience as a means of coping. Her home life also started to get worse, the abuse constantly escalating. Her foster father being worse than the foster mother. On one occasion, his temper got so bad that he actually began throwing things at her, one such item being kitchen knives. One actually cut her arm causing her to need stitches. When Cecilie unexpectedly found out that she got in to Secondary, she was beyond elated though upset that she was told late. She was also told that she couldn't attend. This devastated her completely. But, being determined to get away from her foster family once and for all, she decided to take matters into her own hands and sneak away from her family so that she could attend the school and get away from them, hopefully, forever.

Family: Cecilie was the only child to the Muggles Christopher and Helen Forrester who both died when she was eleven years old (the time she entered primary for wizarding school). She then went into foster care and was taken in by the Muggles Gary and Leah Stewart.

History: It was difficult growing up in the McCabe household. Though her parents were thrilled with her successes in school, they were not thrilled with her choices in career. Her father was too busy providing for the family to pay attention to the social pressures her mother placed upon her, to turn her into a pageant princess--something that still held its weight in the south where she grew up. Though there was no monetary gain to be had from it all, there was social gain and that meant the world to her mother.
