Doctor
Name: Lilian Michaels
Appearance: pic
Age: 28
Background: Lily was the youngest daughter of one of the most brilliant men on Earth. Most of her siblings had gone off to be wives of other prominent men but Lily had taken a more...educated route. She had graduated high school early at the age of 16 and had become a doctor by the age 22 where she promptly joined the military to become a war doctor when things started to get really bad. She was chosen for the scouting party because there were enough doctors in the village and she had better things to do than treat the common cold.

Weapons Specialist
Name: Catalina DeGana
Appearance: pic
Age: 26
Background: Cat grew up as a high class debutante in the upper echelons of Southern Californian money. She had hated every moment of it. All the fake smiles and the gossip. Her overbearing mother and her need to try and push her into another high society family. She had left the second she turned eighteen and found a career as a stunt woman and then Marine Force Recon where she had been a bomb and weapons specialist. She decided to join the scouting party because domestic life made her uneasy and it sounded like fun.

Botanist
Name: Jonathan Naper
Appearance: pic
Age: 23
Background: Jon grew up on a small farm in Illinois and had always loved growing things. He had played with cross pollination when he was still in high school for 4H club and had taken a few college classes while he was still a junior. Where he hadn't been able to complete his doctorate, he was still a skilled botanist and knew more about plants that a lot of his teachers had. He had asked to come on the scouting expedition because he was curious about the plants on this world and wanted to see if any of them could be useful for medicines or food.

Communications Specialist
Name: Alana Brown
Appearance: pic
Age: 24
Background: Alana had always liked talking. In fact, she could be downright annoying. She was a military brat and had moved several times when she was little before the war broke out. Her parents had made it a point to teach her the local languages whenever they moved to a new country and she had decided to stay with the military as a translator when the war broke out, having learned to speak seven languages fluently by the age of 18. She probably would have been more useful back at the village but she had practically been forced to go on the expedition. She supposed it couldn't hurt anything, she had still been part of the Army and had had to go through the same training as everyone else.

Lily supposed that she should be impressed by how much they had managed to accomplish in just a few weeks. They had managed to salvage what was left of the ship and turn it into a small village that was steadily growing. They had also managed to save most of the ships stores and they were working on creating self powered generators to run the power once the ships generators died out completely. The pilot had done a decent job setting the ship down despite the emergency landing. The thing would never fly again but pretty much everyone survived and the rest of the ship still worked.

After the initial work she had done to help the other doctors with the injured though, she had begun to feel that her time was being wasted here in the village. She preferred a faster pace environment after her work with the military and giving out cough medicine was boring. It wasn't like she would be leaving them short handed or anything. They had had several doctors from several different fields on board, which wasn't entirely surprising with the size of the ship.

So when she was offered the opportunity to join the scouting expedition, she had jumped at the chance before one of her colleagues decided to take her spot. With a group that small, there was really only need for one doctor and she had been determined to be it. Considering that most of the other members of the party had some kind of military background, her credentials were quickly accepted.

Now she was inspecting her gear that had been placed in the hover wagon with the rest of the parties supplies. She had just brought a basic kit...or basic for her but she wanted to ensure that it was secure so as not to damage what equipment she had brought along as some of it was expensive and irreplaceable now that they were stranded.

-------------

Jon whistled as she loaded his bags onto the wagon, ignoring the look that he got from the blond woman that was also standing there. Then he walked toward the outskirts of the village to get a better look at the plants at the edge. He had inspected them before but he had wanted to see if there had been a change. So far they hadn't seen any animals on the planet other than the ones that had been brought with them so he couldn't tell if the plants had been eaten or not. That would really be the only way to tell if they were edible or not...at least until he could get some samples.

He had been so excited when he found out that they were going to be exploring the area. Some of the foliage looked familiar but not quite right. They had already discovered that some of the berries in the area where safe because of some errant children. It had been lucky though and he had heard that one of the doctors had freaked out when she heard what they had done. Kids would be kids. It wasn't their fault that their parents hadn't been watching over them. He wasn't a doctor though. He guessed that if would be concerned about someone ingesting unknown berries as well if there were no antidotes if they turned out to be poison.

Anyway, now there was a strict border around the ship and even adults weren't allowed to pass it. Until now anyway. He wondered what else they would find. Would their be lifeforms on this planet? Would they meet their first aliens? There had to be some kind of life. He had already run some soil tests and it was almost the same mineral-wise as Earth had been. Surely, there was something out there. Really though, he was just happy to be free of the ship. He always felt claustrophobic when he was indoors for too long.

---------

Cat tossed her sea bag in the supply wagon carelessly and just glared back at the woman that scoffed at her. Then she carefully loaded the trunk and large cases that she had brought with her and checked on the other weapons that had already been loaded. She also had quite a few on her person but she wasn't the only one so she didn't know what the woman's problem was. It wasn't like she was threatening to shoot her...yet. Maybe she would let whatever was out there eat her. No, probably not. She looked important. She would wait to see if she was useful or not.

Once she was sure that everything was there, she wandered off to find the leader. She found that it was always best to introduce yourself to the person in charge on a mission like this one. Obviously the man already knew what she could do but it was one thing to read a file and another meet someone face to face. She didn't really care what he thought of her but she wanted to make sure that he could handle something like this. She wasn't about to follow a fool and get herself and the others killed.

She had been going crazy on the ship. It was too loud and there were too many people. That and it was so boring that she had been tempted to just sneak past the perimeter guard and head off on her own. She could handle herself. There was also her family. She had had the misfortune of discovering that her mother and father were on board and she had been taking great pains to avoid them ever since. This would make it easier. The very last thing she wanted was for her mother to try and stuff her back in one of those dresses like some dress up doll that she could play with. Although it would almost be worth it when the woman saw the tattoos on her back, sides and hips. She couldn't have any that showed due to military protocol...and her own safety, snipers were twisted bastards and if they had a target... but she had plenty that didn't.

---------

Alana didn't really have any gear to take with them but she did have some clothes and a few weapons. She thought that she would let the boss man decide whether or not he wanted her armed though....well beyond her own personal weapons anyway. She had primarily had a noncombat job as the translator but she had been in the field a few times. It was a requirement to go through basic training no matter what job you had and she still had PT regularly while she was on base. Plus she kind of liked being able to defend herself. It always pissed her off when people just assumed that she didn't know how to fight just because of her job. She was still Army.

She hadn't really seen a reason to go on the trip though. She hadn't applied for it...at least she couldn't remember applying for it. In fact, she had applied to be a housing coordinator due to her background in languages but somehow she had been selected for this mission instead. She guessed that she really didn't mind all that much since she got to meet new people. Plus this kind of seemed like it would be fun. This seemed like it would be pretty exciting. She had some tech in her bag that could help break down the language if they met any natives so it would be easier to communicate.

She waived happily to the woman at the wagon and placed her bag in with all the other stuff, then strolled off to greet everyone else. She was going to try to keep her chatter to a minimum but once she got going, it was hard to stop. She was sooo happy too which probably wouldn't help things. She was still going to try. It would be bad if she got on anyone's nerves before they even left the village.

Edward arrived early to the meeting point, he wanted to check and go over the supplies they were taking out into the wild personally, the young redhead male looked over the good making sure they had everything that they were promised and would need for the trip. He knew that knowing what they needed was rather questionable, but honestly, he had to prepare the best that he could and he knew that would require having as diverse of a collection of gear as possible as well as having as diverse of a group as possible. He had a list and the files of each of his members that were on his team.

Walking and coming to a stop in front of the wagon, he quietly read over each of the folders again, as he wanted to read over them one last time before he meet the people who he was going to spend a whole lot of time with on this trip. He noticed that the group was diverse, four men and four women were on the trip including himself. He noticed that they were from different backgrounds as well, from different parts of the old country too. He put the folders down after a moment as he checked his supplies going over them quietly as he made sure he personally had everything he needed to have, after making sure the group as a whole had what the needed for the long mission.

As he checked he turned to notice the black haired woman approaching, looking at her for a moment, he went over the files in his back and was able to pick out who this person was and what their role was on the mission. "Well, Specialist Catalina DeGana, I assume," he commented as he looked at the woman. He didn't know her or any of the others in his little team. He would of picked different people if given final say perhaps people he worked with during the war. He found out most were put into high defensive positions for the city to protect it from any danger as they were to go out and scout out the regions around the city. "I have read your papers, they give you the best of grades, I look forward to working with you," he said with a calm and stoic tone to his voice as he greeted the weapon specialist.
-------

Somewhat nearby Hugo was looking over the ground taking samples of the soil, as well as the things around the area, such as rock readings and mineral readings and many other things. They were pretty well known, but he wanted to have a base to compare the things he found out later on the trip to, something as a base comparison. He would then be able to see far better on the spot just how different the areas of this planet were away from where the ship was. If they were the same in all areas, of it this planet had a lot of mystery left in it. He figured there would be a great deal of unknown that was left before him but that was what made this rather exciting to him, to go out into that unknown and figure out the mysteries of the planet.

Perhaps he would find new elements unknown to man, maybe he would find new life forms as well, there were so many endless possibilities. He knew that being selected for this mission was a great honor, to be able to be the one to crack the mysteries and have first shots at figuring it all out. Wow that was as good as it got, he knew that the first person to do something was always remembered thought. How they did was remembered by history for quite a long time, their failings and their successes took on new weight, still the fact they were simply remembered at all made him volunteer for this job with many others of his type. Yet, he got the job because of his education and his fields of studies which were deemed most helpful.

As he looked at the readings he read over how well they would support animals and as well as life in general, the readings he could give to the Botanist who was with them who knew more about plants then himself. He searched for the man, Jonathan Naper, he remembered hearing as he figured that he would want the full readings from his findings. He figured that the man would also need to know just so he could also compare the soil if nothing else from the landing site to other places deeper into the planet. He walked around looking for the man before they headed out.

------

Another person was making his way back to the hover wagon. This man was one that looked like he was the most different, the dark haired. Cyborg Thomas had been away from the others and had left very early the morning before, he had looked for an ideal path to take, he had to find the path for the group, it was his job to make sure that he mapped out the lands around where they were as well, all important things as he had left to search the land around for the best path forward and the best direction to go. They could go in any direction around the ship, they could go in a endless number of ways, but the geography of the land would prevent some paths.

Thomas was able to use his cybernetic eye to see farther than a normal human, and measure out things that would be impossible for a normal person as well. In some ways his cyborg implants gave him a large edge over a normal person. They gave him strength in one arm, they gave him advanced sight and other areas of strength that were beyond the norm. He had been an experiment in a lot of ways, he was a dead man but he was brought back to life through the magic of advance technology. How much of him was cybernetic he had no clue, he never asked and didn't want an answer, but he knew it was enough to keep him alive. He knew that the experiment was deemed a success but to costly to do for others after him.

He found a path through the hills that surrounded the city, it was the best path and would have water along it as well as from what he could tell many good sites for resting too and experiments by the scientist. He walked down the hill towards the ship, his cloak hiding most of his body except his face, even his hands were covered by gloves, he wasn't one to show off his condition or his uniqueness as he didn't want to draw the attention that it normally got, he figured it would be best to just fade into the background. It was why he liked this idea as it got him away from most people who might judge him as some kind of freak and would help him be in a place he felt most at home, the wild.

The dark haired closed ranged specialist Hana was helping people as they brought out things to put on the wagon moving back and forth carrying the heavy weights by herself, she was much stronger than she looked as she was determined young woman. He had no idea why she was picked for this trip, she didn't have the experience that other people they could of picked had, but she was a optimistic young woman who hoped that she could do her best to prove herself and felt she could help out the group in some way and fashion. She did so at that moment by simply helping put away and arrange the wagon so that they could make the msot with the amount of space they had in the said wagon. That would mean only the personal goods of the group was left to put on and most would want to do that themselves.

Hana got out of the wagon and smiled as she looked at the others gathered, she had read the files a few times the night before doing her best to memorize the people so that she could be able to put faces with names when they were to meet. She saw the blonde that was cautious of her own supplies and nodded her head a kind of welcome from Hana to her or greeting from the young woman as she then smiled kindly, "Good morning Miss Michaels, I believe," she said to the blonde, "I am Specialist, Tubaski," she said introducing herself in a rather formal manner.

"Um, if you need any help just ask, I am open for helping out with whatever," she said before bowing her head and taking her leave. The raven haired blue eyed Hana saw the rest of her group as she stood there she thought about who each was putting their names into her mind as she went over it over and over again trying to memorize the names with the faces of each of them. She knew soon they would be underway and knowing their names could save some time and that might help maybe even a bit at some point on the mission and would help her work with the others better as well.

It hadn't been hard for her to pick out who the leader was. He was also near the wagon and seemed to be observing everything. Cat was glad that he wasn't the uptight blond though. She really might have found herself leaving the group once they passed the perimeter if that had been the case. Maybe it had been her mother's influence while she was growing up but she didn't take approve of most authority figures. Obviously, she could follow orders but she worked better when those orders were vague enough for her to do what she wanted. The blond looked like she was a bit of a perfectionist.

When he addressed her, she hit a crisp brace. In her unit, it was important for her to blend into whatever population she was assigned to while she was on mission but while on base, order and discipline was key. This man, from what she had read, also had a good deal of military experience. For now, she would respect him for that alone. The fact that his own background was so similar to hers had her uneasy though. Despite the fact that she had also grown up around wealth, she despised privileged brats more than anything else. She had intentionally left that world to get away from that sort of thing.

"It will definitely be interesting, sir." She said as she relaxed her posture, instinctively adjusting her weapons. She hoped that he understood that his every action would be picked apart and critiqued in her head. Personally, she didn't think that someone so young should be in charge. When she had heard about this opportunity, she had assumed that the leader would be an older man or woman. Not someone only a few years older than herself. Especially since there were so many people on the ship that were far more qualified to run the mission. Still, she supposed he had been chosen for a reason. The power and currency of the old world was all but destroyed now that they were stranded here but if she found out that he had gotten this job just because he had rich parents...well...she would see.

---------

Jon had been about to introduce himself to some of the girls when he saw the man taking the soil samples. He watched him for a while, eyebrow raised and then finally smiled when the man seemed to be headed his way. He would be the scientist then. Out of the mash up of people coming on this mission, he could only imagine that a scientist would be just as interested in the ground. Even the tracker would be more interested in tracks in the ground if there were any.

"Hello, I'm Jonathan Naper." He said with a smile as he held out his hand. There were very few people that Jon didn't like and almost everyone liked him in return. He lived by the philosophy that life was too short to fight and argue. "And you would be Hugo Avers. I truly enjoyed your thesis on the many medical benefits of the hyssop. I'm a bit partial to the plant, myself." He smiled brighter. "I thought your piece on how the topography of a garden could effect the same plant in different ways."

------

Lily simply eyed the woman when she spoke to her. She wasn't normally so cranky but she was not a morning person and the children in the housing next door had been up screaming for half the night. She didn't approve of the uncaring way that everyone treated their possessions either. Especially when their treatment threatened to hurt her own equipment. They would be sorry if they broke her tools. She would hate to have to resort to field medicine if the equipment failed. It wasn't that she couldn't do it, she just hated it.

She figured that everything was about as secure as it was going to be with this lot though and finally just gave up. What she wouldn't do for a strong cup of coffee right now. She had already popped and aspirin and she hoped that she would wake up soon. Her mood didn't exactly give off a good vibe and she didn't want to cause problems so early on in the trip. Still, it was probably best that she didn't talk to anyone just now.

So she wandered off towards the back of the group with the guy that had just shown up out of nowhere and waited for them to depart. She imagined that it would be a long walk before they had the chance to make camp and the day already promised to be hot and sticky. It would be worth it though. She wouldn't lie and say that she wasn't just a little bit excited to be in this group.

----

Alana frowned when she saw how the Hana girl had been treated by the doctor. Who did she think she was anyway? The girl hand only been being friendly. There was no reason to sneer at her. At least the tough looking girl looked like she could hold her own in a stare down. Hana looked so cute and sweet though. Maybe she would say something to the doctor. Maybe not. If there was one person in this group beyond the weapons specialists not to get on the bad side of, the doctor was it.

Well, she could at least talk to Hana. She seemed nice and she was a younger girl so maybe she wouldn't find her babbling as annoying as everyone else seemed to. "Hi, I'm Alana." She said as she bounced up to her. "I'm so excited, how about you? I feel that I'm better with talking to people than exploring but this is interesting too. Do you think we'll find any alien lifeforms? I hope, if we do, that we get along better with them than the early settlers did with the Native Americans. That was awful. Oh, but I bet we have a bunch of diseases so we could hurt them by mistake. Maybe we should try to avoid them. You don't think they'll be hostile, do you? Well, I guess it will only matter if we find them. Actually, if we think about it, to them...if there is a them, we would be the aliens, right? That's a weird thought. I guess we are pretty self centered in thinking that everything beyond humankind is alien, don't you think?"

She caught herself and blushed a little. "Sorry. If I talk to much, just tell me to shut up. I won't take it personally or anything. I have a tendency to talk to much. I'm trying to get better at it but..." She was doing it again. She closed her mouth, biting her lips together to keep it from opening again.

"Well good, it shall be interesting" he said as he looked past her and noticed someone walking down the hill and knew who it was, Make sure that you have everything in the wagon we are going to be leaving in a short few moments," he commented sure that this woman knew this fact already. He walked past her as he noticed Thomas and walked towards him knowing that he would have the best information about the land around the area, and wanting to get it as quickly as was possible, knowing that would be key for getting across the country in the best fashion that would be possible.

"Locke, what have you found out, a path through the hills I hope," he asked as he looked at him walking up to the man as he looked at him needing the information that the man would have to get started. The look upon his face serious as he looked at the pathfinder and scout for them. His information would be some of the most important things that they would have

"The hills are not that unlike what one would find on earth, the land around here looks similar to anything that we would find as well, it is rather interesting, but it was easy to mark a path though, I marked that path already up to the first campsite, I will then adjust the route from there," Thomas commented filling in Edward of what was ahead of them. "There is enough room for the hovercraft along the route as well, it will not be hard to move the craft all the way there."

"Good work, Locke," he commented nodding his head, "Let us inform the others we are off and take up position for the trip outbound today," he said with a nod of his head as he walked with the pathfinder and scout towards the wagon.
-----------

"Well the Hyssop, that blue flower is rather helpful, I agree very much,it is a most useful plant. I must admit it was pure luck that led me to that line of thinking, actually the work of the gardener at the college I went to, in one of their gardens they used the plant as a kind of filler thus it was put in very different places which had as you read interesting results," Hugo replied as he looked at his fellow man of logic, "Now what we find here, this is going to be exciting, to think of the possible to find things that will advance out own knowledge of life and our technology many times over."

Hugo blinked and then took out his data recorders, before handing them over to Jon, "Well anyhow, I came to find you to give you the soil samples of the area around here, This stuff is interesting, the combination of what makes up this soil and the plants are rather different too, I think there is a connection, but I will leave that to you to figure out good sir," he said as he looked at the botanist leaving him to figure out the plants and which ones were the bad dangerous type and which were the ones that would be good to take back to the city for cultivation as well. A big job for sure, he figured it was a important as any of the jobs that the rest of the group had.

------

Hana blinked as she looked at the communications specialist, and tilted her head, "Well we will figure it out as we go along, I guess," she said as she looked at her, "I figure they will be what they are, who knows they could be anything, but being able to communicate with the I bet will be rather important, who knows how they will even communicate, maybe by talking maybe my telepathy, or something, they might be strange looking too no clue, myself,"she reasoned as she stood there looking over the handle of her sword and fixing it a bit. "Now, if they are dangerous, well then we will do what we must, who knows," she replied as he looked at Alana, "Now, the name is Hana, close range fighting specialist. Basically it means I like to cut things into pieces and stab stuff sometimes," she said with a shrug of her shoulders.

-----

"Everyone, it is time to move out, Mr. Avers, Mr, Naper, keep close to the wagon, don't go far from It, especially do go off exploring the land till we come to a stopping point and when we get there, you can only do so after we can make agreements for who will travel with you as well as for how long you have," he said looking at the two men of science. "Doctor Michaels keep an eye on the men of logic here, but also keep close to the wagon. Mrs. Brown, bring out your communication equipment and you are going to be in constant contact with Specialist Locke so if he finds out something or needs to warn us, you can get his messages. Locke will take point ahead of the group, a good bit ahead of the wagon, I will stay closer and take the left side, Specialist, Tubaski, take the ride side and guard it, Specialist Degana, you will cover our asses and protect us from any surprises that might come from that side," he said as he looked at each of them as he made the comment to each of them before tapping Thomas on the shoulder and nodding, "Alright, let's get this thing on the road, we have a lot of ground to cover and we aren't doing anything just standing around," he called out to the group.

----

"Well, better get to where I am needed, nice talking to you, Alana," she commented as Hana slipped off with her swords and weapons already prepared to go, she had been ready to go from the start of the trip, or rather since she got there that morning and was took up position as the wagon started to move keeping an eye on what was the her side of things as the wagon moved forward , heading off towards a opening in the hills that was scouted out by Thomas. Her hands remained on her swords as she walked, there was just a naturalness of having them in that location. Hana figured that it would be a boring walking, but being unprepared and being caught off guard were unacceptable to the raven haired woman.
-----

"Well, let us see what we will see, Jon," Hugo commented as he moved up onto the wagon and grabbed something from one of his bags, a pair of binoculars that he could use. He stood on the wagon and looked around the area, for a moment seeing what his normal eyes could see, as he looked for anything of note, he figured they would have to stay close, but he could use them to pick out an area to explore if they got the chance to go exploring at some point during the day. He sat on the wagon with his feet over the side as he figured it would simply be easier to do that.
--------
Thomas moved out moving a good bit in front of the group keeping an eye for danger or anything that could come up in their path that might be of note or concern, any changes in the path would be made by him as he stood on the hill keeping an eye on the wagon with his advance cyborg eye as well as the path, keeping an eye on things as he was assigned to do, without any words said over the communications that was built into his cybernetics. He saw no purpose in talking at that moment as he had to many other task to handle in that moment.

----
Edward took up his position on his side, as he moved with the wagon keeping a bit up so that he could watch his side and also help in keeping an eye on the front. With the formation they had they could keep an eye on the protect the wagon and keep an eye on any possible threat from any direction, it was a common formation from the war that was used to protect transports and one that was rather effective at its purpose as well.

Cat nodded and turned toward the wagon to look through her trunk and cases to ensure that she had everything that she had planned on taking. She assumed that everyone was old enough that they could take care of their own things so she didn't bother checking on anyone else's stuff. She wouldn't have the first clue what half of them would need either.

She knew that there was one other specialist on the team besides her and she knew that some of the others also had weapons training. The doctor and the communication specialist had also served in the war, she knew but she would rather that they stay out of any action if there was any. Especially the doctor since only one of those were coming with them. She had some field training and she was sure the scientist and the botanist could help but that was a far cry from an actual medical professional.

-------

Jon nodded eagerly as the man spoke. It would be nice to sit down and pick his brain a little bit. It was not often that he ran into published scientists beyond his professors in college and they had a tendency to be pretentious and plugged their own works into the lessons. He still respected the hell out of them but it just wasn't the same. Plus, he had enjoyed the fact that the man was well traveled and had seen many different kinds of plants around the world.

Of course, that was only a small portion of his works. He had gathered that it was more of a hobby or a random observation than a point of interest. It was still nice to know that there was someone else there that he could work with without having to explain everything. Not that he wouldn't try his damnedest to get a lovely assistant to help him out. They all had to be pretty smart, right? Well, even if they weren't, he could work with that as well.

----------

Alana was ecstatic that Hana actually talked back at her with the same amount of enthusiasm. She would have to be careful how much she babbled around her because it was so hard to find friends that she could actually get along with. She had been told on more than one occasion that she was better in small doses and it was kind of hard not to let it effect your self esteem. Whatever, though, she was too happy right now to worry about those things.

Her eyes widened when she Hana told her what she did. How interesting! She didn't get to work with the combative soldiers much and she thought that fact that such a tiny person could be so bad ass was awesome. On one hand, she hoped that they wouldn't actually have anyone to fight but at the same time, she wanted to see her in action. She bet it was epic. "Oh my god, that's so cool!"

-------

Lily raised an eyebrow when she was given the order to look after the boys. She was not a babysitter. At the same time though, she was rather no nonsense so she supposed it wouldn't be a horrible job. It wasn't like she had anything else to do at the moment. Though she did plan on getting a physical on everyone when they stopped for the night. She also wanted to implant a GPS tracker and vital monitor in them, if they would allow it. It was one thing if they told her that they weren't feeling well and another if she could actually see it. It had been her experience with the military that most soldiers didn't like to tell anyone when anything was wrong until they were too sick for an easy fix. She would have to talk to the leader about that when they stopped. Perhaps he could convince everyone.

-----------

Alana skipped over to the wagon and dug out two ear plugs. The main part went into the ear while a small disc on a wire, curved around the jaw to rest on the throat right underneath. They were extremely comfortable to the point that you almost forgot you were wearing them and it made the fact that you were communicating discreet. She hooked one in her own ear and then went off to hand the other to the pathfinder...taking a look at him though, she didn't know if that would be necessary.

She followed him when he started walking, fully planning on rejoining the group once she had gotten the communication part taken care of. "Normally, I would have you put this in your ear but I don't know if you need it. Do you have a pairing feature? If you do, what is the range and how far ahead do you plan on going? Do you have a lot of maintenance with that tech? Oh! Do you have super human strength? I'm sure you do, it would be silly not to give you that feature with all the robotics. Do you need to charge the tech or are you solar powered? Oh, I heard that they were working on self sustaining power for prosthetics, is that what you have?" She stopped talking for a second and bit her lip. "Sorry, I just get excited about these things. You're pretty awesome. I mean, I'm sure you don't feel like it a lot but a lot of people don't survive the amount of work that they've done on you and I think that's just amazing. You must have been a really strong person to begin with."

-------

Jon decided to walk instead of ride in the wagon. It would be easier to see the plant life and any changes in the soil that way. He also pulled out a sample kit and some gloves and pruning sheers so that he could collect anything that looked interesting or that could be edible. He wouldn't actually be able to do any tests until they settled down for the night but he fully intended on having enough work to keep him awake for most of that time. The more information that they could gather about this place, the better.

--------

Cat waited until the party was a fair distance ahead of her before she began to follow. She wanted to be far enough back to give fair warning if there was danger but close enough so that she could still see the group and help out if danger came in from the front or the sides. Her weapons were primarily long range but she had other weapons as well. One could never be too careful. Especially in unfamiliar territory.

Thomas noticed the purple haired woman walking up towards where he happened to be standing at that moment his eyes still focused on the area around them as he heard her footsteps. He turned towards her and listened to her as she spoke to him. Thomas stood still on the hill as he paid complete attention to the Alana's words. He could tell this was a talkative woman on who had a lot on her mind and wasn't not afraid of voicing what she was thinking, which wasn't a bad thing at all. He waited till she was finished before he replied at all letting himself hear all that she had to say.

"Yes, I can pair up with your communications device, it will go right through without a problem, the range of my communications is just under fifty kilometers. I will be within that distance the whole while, so I shouldn't be out of range though in thick woods it will decrease to around twenty five or so kilometers where I will adjust to fit what is needed," he said calmly with a very stoic tone. "My cybernetics were created a year ago, a month before the evacuation from earth, they were the last ones made, they are self powered. The machines are undergo self maintenance due to the nanites which are inside of them as well as inside of the rest of my body at this point. If you must know my right eye, my left ear, the left side of my ribs and chest, and my lungs are all cybernetic in nature. Without the cybernetics and the nanobots I would die within 3 minutes. This has nothing to do with bravery just the cost of living," he said as he looked at her his tone not changing. "I believe this will be ideal to use as the frequency of communications my past history told me this when I was out on mission," he said showing her the number on his forearm as he changed to the frequency.

------

As the wagon moved, Edward kept an eye out for things and he noticed the strangest trees so far, they stood on their roots which buried into the ground and the river at the same time giving the trees a wide base, the trees themselves were a off shade of gray with purples leaves on them as well. The water they were connected to was a odd shade of lime green something that didn't even look like it made much sense, but it was the first time they were able to see such a thing like this. It was rather interesting. He knew that the scientists were going to freak out the moment that they saw this. He wasn't sure what reaction they would have but to see this different type of plants and the river itself would be interesting.

He looked up and noticed large birds flying overhead, they were larger than anything he had seen but they didn't look like normal birds either, they seemed to have massive wings, and in some ways reminded him of the pterodactyls that he read about in books when he was a child. The first sign of life on this planet and it was rather impressive, the birds circled and then flew away from them gliding in the sky with such wonderful grace. He said nothing as he continued walking, he would make a mental note of that which he had seen but they didn't have time to stop at that moment, at least.

-----

As they went along, Hugo checked the ground from time to time to get readings that he could check out when they got to their ending location each day. He didn't know about the river yet, till they came down one of the hills and he saw the strange trees and the river. He blinked as he went over quickly towards that side and then checked on the river collecting as much of it as he could in sa short period of time as he took it and samples of the soil around the river and in the river and around the trees. This was the first find and he was going to get as much information possible from it as he could.

He brought back his vials and containers and put them on the wagon pulling out some of his machines to test out the soil to find the elements in it as well as to more importantly test out the water to find out more about the water and why it was such a lime green color which was rather strange. He put the vials into the machine putting samples and labeling them as he focused on his work. He was in his own little world as he worked, thinking about how he could get the most information possible. The quality of the water and the fact it was green had to be known as he knew that would be needed if they were going to travel a long way, how much work would be needed to make the water drinkable and what combination of chemicals would be needed if any. Plus finding out why it was green would tell him more about the planet as a whole too.

He didn't think about anything even the other things he could be seeing at that moment, his mind was so one tracked,he didn't even notice the high flying bird above them as he worked. He looked at it enjoying the mostly quiet that he had due to everyone around him being quiet at that moment. He figured he could get this done and have the report on the water before the night was over, that way he would have a plan of action on what to do

-----------

Hana remained on the outside hillside as she walked, she didn't think her skills were that awesome but it was nice to get a compliment that wasn't normal. She smiled as she saw the bird, it was rather cool looking, she looked at it for a moment as she watched it fly over her and then out. Hana found the day a nice and quiet one as she walked she looked back to the path as she noticed some small lizards that were not that far off, they were a bit larger than a lizard on earth, but they were still pretty small about a foot long and a half foot high, he would guess, as he looked at the red lizards. She watched as one of the dug into the earth like a prairie dog on earth might, it was strange, and bizarre, she walked over and grabbed one and looked at it as it hissed at her for a moment moving around in her hand, for a moment before it was put back down by Hana and it then went quickly back into hiding as Hanna went back to her spot to give overwatch for the wagon.

Alana was so excited. Not only had one person accepted her tendency to babble but this guy seemed to be okay with it too. She had been a little worried that she had offended him given the nature of her questions but he seemed to handle it well.

"I really meant that you were strong willed to have survived the damage done to need the cybernetics and also the process of having them installed. I had heard that that tech had a very high mortality rate because it was so new and the installation process was unrefined. That and the high risk that your body would reject the tech or that the transitions between flesh and machine would become infected. Plus it's super painful because you have to be awake for a lot of the process with very little anesthetic."

She was sure she was right. She wasn't a doctor or anything but she had a tendency to geek about technology. She had even debated getting a degree in it but she liked languages more. She had the finest communication technology though and she probably could take it apart and put it back together again. Not that she would try it.

--------

Jon collected a few leaves and some sap from one of the trees. As they walked along. He also grabbed a sample of the dirt around the roots and a water sample. He could guess that ithe color either had something to do with the minerals that made up the water or a high volume of algae. Minerals would make more sense though with the strange color of the trees.

He also found some strange flowers near the bank and dug them up by the roots to get a full sample. Then he grabbed a piece of cloth and soaked it in the water before wrapping it around the base to keep it alive and filed a large bag with soil so he could plant it when they stopped for the day.

-----------

Cat didn't really care about the birds or the plants or anything like that. She liked the route so far though. It was peaceful and she had gotten a little tense living with the other survivors. It was habit to be tense in highly populated areas and she despised being around screaming children. It freaked her out and she didn't know how to handle it. She knew that other men and women in Recon still lead normal lives when they returned from their mission but she didn't know how they could stand it.

This was kind of nice too. She felt that it would be normal to jump at loud noises out here. She didn't have PTSD or anything, she just couldn't relax. While they explored, that kind of alertness would be a good thing though. Especially if they ran into hostiles. It was also kind of nice that there were so many combat ready soldiers on this mission. At least some of them would understand her attitude. Not that she really cared about making friends. She didn't. She just wanted to feel normal. Well, as normal as she got.

-------

Lily watched the scientist and the botanist scurry around like children in a candy store from her perch on the wagon. She hadn't planned on riding on it but if the option was available, she wasn't going to turn it down. She would rather be close to her gear and somewhat comfortable. Plus, this position allowed her to doze a bit. She was used to working all shifts but she loved sleep more than anything since it was so rare to get it if she was on call. Rare to get it period.

The landscape was interesting for a little while and she watched the bird circle above them for a little while through the trees. Then she got bored and started to nap, flinging her arm over her eyes to block out the sun. She imagined that if they needed her, they would wake her.

"Yes, you are correct, it was well challenging, the operation and I do remember each and every bit of it, but it was what had to be done, pain is something one lives with I figure," Thomas replied as he walked ahead of the group, his eyes scanned the area around where they were going, he paused as he looked at something far off. He had stayed a fair bit ahead of the group moving faster as he didn't need to keep up with them or guard the wagon either. He looked at the hills that were ahead as they ended and land changed into a large plain, filled with grasses, oddly the grass on this plain was different too. It was not green, but oddly it was a shade of blue. He blinked as he looked over it pausing for a moment before he shook his head as he saw the bird fly over his head towards that plain, and past his field of vision in time as well.

"Well, Alana, this is a sight, I think we found the real blue grass," he commented back to her. His eyes then scanned around as he saw a couple of other things of note, he noticed a large cave on the edge of his vision, but he noticed the river as well turning into a large lage which happened to one side, it would make a great place to rest as he looked at the lake it would be a good place to me and fish and do wahtever was needed there. He paused for a moment as he looked and found the last bit of trees. "Alright past the hills your In, you will find a large late, I think that this will be ideal for camp, there is also a cave in the distance, I am guessing that this cave is out of the way, but damn is it large, bigger than most I ever seen on earth."

He moved ahead toward the lakeside as he figured that he would be able to find something of interest, he moved quietly as he looked at the large lake and noticed something that was there, he blinked as he looked at it, and then blinked as he stepped back. "Okay, you all need to know what I found, it kind of looks like large footprints of something like a frog or large aquatic life perhaps from the lake, I am not sure, but it is different, strange is a great understatement of what I am seeing here," he announced back over the communication as he looked at the footprints following them as they came to a end in the large lake.

========

Edward walked over as he noticed Alania talking over to Thomas and he knew that she would have a better idea of what was going on them himself. He walked closer to the wagon as he looked over at her and blinked, "What is the status report from up front, how are things going with our guide," he asked not knowing himself as he looked at her for a moment pausing for a second as he knew that she had been talking to him, but of course he couldn't tell what the whole conversation happened to been as he only heard a bit of it, but the bit had gotten his attention and caused him to walk over to where she was to ask her about what was going on ahead of them as he walked. He figured that something was up.

Edward waited as he walked, knowing that they could find anything, he didn't know what was past the river very well, and he needed his scout to be able to help them find their way past the hills then past what lay beyond till they were done. He paused for a moment as he looked over and noticed something, he noticed Hana looking over at something in that moment as well, he couldn't tell what she found, but he could tell what she had found something that seemed to catch her eyes as she seemed to be focused on that item from where he was, but he of course could be very much wrong about his guess.

------

Hana saw something shiny in her right side, she moved towards it as she moved, she looked at the object, it was metal and long in length and then . She brushed off the dirt around it as it somehow had ended up in this location. She looked closer to It, it had human writing, but it wasn't English, she could tell it was human though from the numbers on it, another ship had been there perhaps and blown up, was this a hibernation pod from some other ship, she blinked as she looked down at It. Her hands checked it for what she knew, which was to check if there was power on it, which there actually was, as she moved it she noticed that the thing wasn't as big as she though, enough maybe for a person, what the heck, this was a large mystery that happened to be in front of her.

"Guys, come quickly, I found something strange, this is very different, please, I need your help with figuring out what to do with this thing I found," she called out over her own limited communications device as she waved towards the wagon knowing that they would be able to see her. She was sure they would be able to as a group help them a lot more than she was able to. She stood there waiting for one of them to come over and help her. Looking at the device, she didn't understand it at all as she stood back as she looked at the wagon coming towards her and Hugo moving over too.
--------------

Hugo moved over and looked at the device, checking it out, moving his hands over it, and then looking at the instruments getting the menu up with ease, he couldn't read the information on the machine at all, but he could tell that it was important to know if it had power and if the person was alive. He was able to look through menu after menu, but figuring out what it said was not possible. He just could check out the machine and see how well it was working. He went over the numbers looking at that and that alone as he checked the machine , it was working. Still this things was rather odd, and so different from anything he had seen in his life before, he paused as he looked at it, looking over the instrument as he paused for a good moment before he let out a long sigh.

"Okay, this thing is different, it works, but it uses a old type of power source to power it, solar power somehow, it was used to make it work very well. . The machine also seems to be at least partly natural gas powered of all things, it is able to make a lot of energy than natural gas. They can use the gas way better than our people could back in the day. I am not sure if it is human and something very old, or if it is alien. It could be either, honestly I have no clue at all," he commented as he looked over at the others who had by that point gathered up. "Alania, could you read these menu's as I bring them up and tell me if they are any known languages."

Alana smiled as she rejoined the group. She didn't think that this guy took compliments well. Perhaps he wasn't used to getting them. It was kind of sad but she guessed she could understand. He probably felt uncomfortable with all that tech so visible on his body. She supposed they hadn't had the chance to use the cloaking technology to make him at least look normal. Poor guy.

She had gotten used to the peace of the place, silent for once as she took in the scenery. His voice in her ear made her jump and she guiltily remembered that she was supposed to be the link between him and the rest of the group. His words had her instantly intrigued though so she pushed those feelings to the back of her mind. "You mean like...blue blue? I mean, I know that the bluegrass back home was blue too but..." She trailed off when he started to speak again and listened as he described the location, careful to catch every detail so that she could relay it to the others.

"I guess you guys are going to want to explore the cave, huh? Wow, that sounds so cool. I mean, I'm not a fan of caves because of bats and stuff but it would be cool to see from a distance. I will go if we have to though." She paused again when he started describing the footprints and shivered. "Does it look like it has claws? How big is it?" She held up her hand when Edward came over and then looked at him wide-eyed. "Thomas found a good spot to camp. Or at least it sounded good when he started talking about it. If we keep moving forward past the hills, there's going to be a large lake with a cave that's bigger than any cave he has ever seen on earth. I mean, he really sounds impressed so it must be massive! Now he's talking about some large footprints near the lake, which I think makes it sound like a less ideal location to set up camp especially since we don't know what made it, that he says looks aquatic like a giant frog or something so I'm assuming that it's webbed. He says we should really catch up to look at it for ourselves."

-------------

Jon walked over to the pod thing more because of curiosity than anything. He wouldn't really be able to help with the science of the thing and he really didn't care about it from a professional standpoint. He also couldn't resist a pretty lady calling for help. He would keep that to himself for now though. They hadn't gotten a chance to really get to know each other and he didn't want to come off as a creeper. He preferred to woo slowly rather than jump in with a bunch of cheesy pick-up lines. That and there were so many pretty women on this trip that it would be hard to choose.

-----------

Lily blinked herself awake and glared over at the people making all the noise. It was the little one that tried to talk to her earlier. Lord. She stretched and pulled herself up from her sleeping position. She hadn't minded the scientist while was in the wagon with her. He had at least stayed quiet. The botanist and the leader were quiet too. The purple haired girl had been chattering away off and on with the tracker though and now the dark haired girl was being noisy.

She got down off the wagon and walked over to what they were all looking at to see what the fuss was about. Her attitude changed when she saw what it was though. A living being in what appeared to be a stasis chamber. Her curiosity wiped away all that remained of her sleepiness like a triple shot of espresso and she looked over the scientist's shoulder at the words to see if she could pick anything out. The numbers looked like they could be vital readings, in her opinion but she couldn't read whatever language that was.

----------

Cat was curious about what they had discovered but she stayed back, unwilling to close the distance between herself and the others. Especially since she was now on a hill and had a good vantage point of their position. If they wanted to fiddle around in the grass, that was their choice. She would just make sure that they didn't get attacked by anything in the forest. She had heard rustling on the path to either side of her and she had no doubt that there were nasties in there just waiting to see whether or not they would make a good meal. She figured the only reason they hadn't attacked was that the group was so unusual. Animals weren't stupid, they stalked their prey before striking.

She thought about letting off a few shots into the foliage but decided against it. One, it would scare the group ahead, two, she hadn't received permission to do so and she didn't want to get on the leader's bad side, especially since he was letting her do as she pleased and, three, if the things in the trees were friendlies, she didn't want to get them all worked up. For now she would wait to see what they would do. One predator feeling out another.

--------

Alana walked over to the others when they called and frowned as she maneuvered through the group to get to the forefront. "We found something here too." She told Thomas as she finally got to the panel. "It's a stasis pod from..." She looked over the menu's. "...looks like Korea. It's a funky dialect though. The letters are off." She tilted her head to the side and took over the device so that she could scroll herself. "She's eighteen years old and apparently Korean nobility. I mean, I know they don't have kings and queens anymore but they don't forget their lineage. Her name is Kim Hye Rin. Uh..." She kept flipping through the menus. "This is her vitals." She looked over at the doctor lady. "I think this means she's healthy. I mean, it all looks normal but I don't know." She pointed out what was what and then shrugged when the doctor nodded. At least the woman looked nicer. "I'm going to open it. It still has a lot of power to it but it won't last forever and we can't just leave her here. I don't know if she'll be able to speak English. Even if she does, it will be broken and weird. It might be better if we keep her with us. She'll be pretty scared." She said as she fiddled with some options on the screen to wake her up.

"Yes, that sounds like a good idea," Hugo commented in agreement with the statement as he walked around the machine looking at it as he tried to understand it far better then he did in that moment, to him it still looked rather old, but he wasn't sure where the heck that it happened to come from. "Perhaps it is that the other countrires had to use less advance tech when they build their ship and that would explain why this capsule is so archaic, as it were," he explained as he looked at her, pausing for a moment as he then watched calmly, something important was going to happen and they were going to need Alana more then ever in that moment He wondered what odd things she might know and what information she would know, was she the last of her kind or where other people also scattered around the world to be found, either way this information would be very important for the city to know about as soon as was possible.

He walked up and watched as he adjusted the machine knowing machines rather well as he worked to awaken her cutting off the support from the machine to this young woman quietly as he figured that it would not cause damage or harm but would enable her to wake up rather peacefully as she came too. He watched to see what would happen, what would be the thing that occurred with this young woman in that moment. He saw her raise her eyes still out of it, he guessed at least.

-----------

Hana returned to her duty watching over the craft, but keeping in a spot where she was needed to protect the others she would be able to move to guard them as fast as possible able to watch the hovercraft and the young woman as well. She said nothing as she figured the woman needed as much space as was possible in that moment. She paused as she looked at them and then the craft waiting for the situation to solve itself
----------------------------

Kim blinked her eyes as she came too, she blinked looking at people around her, she looked at them for a moment shocked to see them as they were around her. " annyeonghaseyo, eodi leul mueos-ibnikka? Oui kkum ttoneun mwonga i ? naega dangsin eun nugu ? naneun naneun gos , eodinji moleuneun , dangsin-eun naega jeonhyeo malhago ihae hal su issseubnikka? " she asked looking around for a moment hoping that someone woudl be able to help her and give her some information. Heck she didn't know if any of them know the same language that she knew it was possible that none of them would of been able to help her in the lease. The dark haired woman looked at the people gathered as if trying to figure out where she happened to even be which she didn't know at all.

==========

Edward put his hand on Alana's shoulder, "help her out however you can, Lily, I am sure you can help her out too, get her to the wagon as soon as possible, I am sure that she needs rest, we will find a spot in these hills if possible as are camping spot, to give the woman time to rest so that we can find out anything she might happened to know," he commented as he walked over to the wagon. He looked over to Cat and motioned her, "Cat, I need you to cover the wagon closer, right now, you and Hana will support, I am going to support Thomas and figure out what he has found while you all deal with the new woman," he explained to her, "while I am away, you are in charge of things," he added giving her command as he left to find Thomas for that moment taking off working his way over the hill towards his teammate who he knew had found something.

Edward moved towards the place where Thomas was at a good clip knowing that he had to figure out if there was an alien threat nearby, he looked at the water for a moment and then looked at Thomas as he walked over towards him catching up after a handful of minutes or so. "Well now this is the spot, pretty lake strange land though," he commented as he walked up towards Thomas and looked at the footprint, it was webbed and there were was no way to tell if it was a frog or not. He looked at Thomas and smiled as he handed him his bag and things, He smiled confidently as he looked at the water, "Now Thomas stay here, I will be back in a moment, we will find out if this turns me into some alien or kills me, quickly," he said taking a chance as he took off his shirt and dove into the water.

Thomas blinked as he looked at his commander surprised by his reaction, he looked down as he wondered if he was going to be fine. He looked curious as the commander went into the water before he dove under water, he seemed to be able to hold is breath for a good long period of time if nothing else as he dove deep into the water or was under for some bad reason, if he was dead his body would float to the top he figured at least.

Edward saw deep, the water was clear but there was so much water, he dove as far as he could as he then came up, and swam back towards the shore, as he got there, he noticed something coming from behind himself as he did so, he speed up moving quickly along the water before pulling himself up and turning hoping that Thomas had him covered encase he was under attack shortly there after. He stood there as he turned to look at a blue skinned human like female who was looking back at him, or he was rather sure this was a female looking at him as he blinked.

Thomas was shocked as he had his gun aimed at her, but she didn't look a threat he wasn't going to take a threat as he looked at her. He was stunned as he looked at her unable to speak as he looked at the woman. He should of communicated back but he didn't think about it in that moment, that what was happening was happening as he looked at the female who stood before him in shock still to see tis.

"Helo, yr wyf yn golygu unrhyw niwed i chi, peidiwch ofni fi, neu fy anifeiliaid anwes, yr ydym yn dod o ar draws y llyn, pwy wyt ti?" The alien commented looking at the two of them pausing as she pointed across the way, as she looked in the water and a frog jumped out bigger then a normal one it had made the footprints on the water.

"Alana, um I found a little well not little blue woman, here an alien woman here," Thomas commented as he looked at her focusing on her completely as he looked at her.

The alien moved towards him and put her hand to the side of his head, Thomas felt odd as he felt something in his mind as he looked at her and then looked at her as she moved her hand away from his head pausing in shock still as he looked at her. Thomas could feel memories too as he flinched as he saw her in pain to when she found certain things in his mind.

"I am a name you wouldn't understand, it would be best to just refer to me as Anna," she said looking at the two of them, "I can understand your language, by linking my mind with that of Thomas, I was able to see your language and I have a rough estimate of it," she said looking at him, "you come from across the star ocean correct?"

"Well this changes things a great deal, we are form the star ocean, we are here to explore and learn about this plan, can you help us," Edward asked the woman as he looked at her knowing she could understand him now.

"Yes, I am to return home tomorrow, then I shall take you and your people with me, your people have suffered much, I can tell from your memories, it will be easy to show you the way, just need to be careful of the great lake monster it is a large serpent fish that lives in the lake and comes out at night," she explained as she looked at him.
