In the winter of the last year, a young queen with one son summoned the boy to her bedside. She stroked the child's cheek and had another group of people brought in. The second party, another family, had served the Royal Family for many generations. Among them was a girl around the same age as the prince, give or take a year or so.

"Mari, please come to me. And bring the small one." spoke the woman laying in the bed.

The one called Mari was nothing more than a child herself yet closely crossing the threshold into adulthood. The young child she brought along was her own sister. The queen then spoke some words to the three of them.

"My son. You look so much like your father. How I miss him... but now, you will grow and become king. You must be good and fair and kind to the people of this land... Mari..."

"Yes, your Highness?"

"Look after my son as if he were your own brother, as you always have. I leave him in your charge." spoke the queen.

The girl called Mari nodded affirmatively and squeezed the shoulders of the young girl. The monarch looked toward the little girl with a smile before taking her last breath with a happy look on her face. The prince did nothing except stare at his mother then turned around to face the crowded room.

"Hail Queen White Snow!" he said.

"Hail Queen White Snow! Long Live King William!" replied the group in unison.

Some years later, while the prince was in his classroom. He impatiently tapped his book with the end of the pen and watched the teacher with an uninterested gaze. Finally, he snapped out of his daydream once a loud bang was heard. Someone had dropped something large and heavy nearby in an attempt to grab the young man's divided attention.

Lydia was standing behind to prince's left shoulder, quietly leaning against the wall as she glanced around the room. She glanced at the prince and noticed that he seemed distracted. It seemed the teacher realized it as well and came over, proceeding to slam his book down on the corner of the prince's desk. Lydia jumped at the loud noise, mentally sighing when she realized that her master was probably going to get in trouble again for not paying attention, which meant that Mari was probably going to yell at her for not 'doing her job'. Though how she was expected to not bother the prince at school yet still keep him focused on the lesson was beyond her. Still, she was but a servant so of course she was going to be blamed.

Finally, the class was over after the prince got a mild scolding from the teacher. When he was alone with only Lydia, a second shadow to accompany him, William stood. His regal air suffocated anyone around who may have barely known him. He was tall and remarkably handsome. There was not a blemish or a mark of harm or imperfection. His deep blue eyes, inherited from the late queen-- gazed over towards his personal servant.

"Lydia, are you ready to leave?"

Lydia watched with growing nervousness as William got a scolding from the teacher. Of course, he has had worse in the past, Lydia being the witness to most of them and this was one of the more calmer times as opposed to when some of the teachers get so irritated with him they start yelling.
The girl was broken out of her slight daze but the voice of her master. She immediately stepped forward and bowed her head, avoiding looking into his eyes like she had ben taught. "Yes sir." She replied softly as she stepped towards him.

William began walking towards the entryway of the room. Then he stopped and turned towards her. A smirk came to his lips at the sight of Lydia. It amused him how obedient she was. Prince William was no fool, though. He knew that Mari terrified the girl.

"Lydia... do you want to do something fun today?" William asked.

Lydia raised her head and gave him a confused stare. "Fun like what sir?" She inquired. His smirk made her uneasy. Normally when he smirked like that it meant entertainment for him and trouble for her. And also Mari yelling at her but that was mostly every day anyway.

"You'll just have to trust me, won't you?" He replied.

William instantly took her hand into his and led them both out of the room. He went all the way to the end of the hall towards a door. Upon opening it, he was met by a staircase and after making it to the summit... they were on the roof. It was a large space with an enormous garden. There were flowers and grass and a large gazebo. It would have been strange to any other person to see a place like this atop a building, but not to him.

He let go of her hand and walked into the small field. He took a seat in the grass and laid against the ground. Turning his head, those gorgeous eyes gazed on the timid girl.

"What are you waiting for? Come relax with me."

Lydia felt his hand grab hers and she blushed slightly, following after him. She wondered where they were going but then saw the stairs and realized that it was the roof. That was William's favorite place to go to relax. She felt him release her hand and watched as he laid down in the grass. Lydia stood there awkwardly for a moment, not knowing what to do before he looked at her. Lydia couldn't help but gaze into his eyes. She never realized how handsome he was....No! Bad Lydia! She immediately mentally slapped herself. He was a prince for goodness sakes! There was no chance at all that she would ever have a chance with him so she better knock it off right now! Realizing that he had said something to her, Lydia nodded hesitantly and walked over to him, laying next to him though she kept a bit of space between them. She looked up at the blue eyes, the wind softly blowing her hair into her face.

Looking at her face covered in hair, he could not help but laugh.

"Ha ha!"

After he got his chuckles in, William brushed his hands over her face, to move the strands away. Moving a little closer toward her, the prince lightly tapped her forehead with a playful grin. "That's better."

The young man folded his hands under his head and stared up at the sunny skies with its sweet puffs of cloud. Without a single word, William took a deep breath and exhaled through his nostrils. He turned his head towards Lydia and gazed at her. She looked happy but she was always a curious person in his eyes.

"Lydia... you're the only person I've ever brought up here." William blurted.

Instinctively, his sight went back into the sky.
