Prince Metir sighed deeply, looking out at the lake.
Court life was so boring. All anyone ever talked about was war, war, war.
Was it really so "childish" to advocate peace?
He was the laughing stock of the court because of his pacifistic stance.
He sighed again.

Prince Metir was a tall man, aged around 24, with long blonde hair and soft hazel eyes. This day, he wore what his father called "peasant clothing". A simple, plain outfit, with no adornment or jewelry.

Princess Adelaide had escaped to the glen. Forest clearing next to a lake she liked a lot. She had her lute strapped to her back. She was a beautiful girl. Her blonde hair was braided down her back. She had escaped the castle wearing breeches and a loose comfortable top. She sat down int eh clearing. She had asked why war was even necessary, what did the other kingdom have that we really couldn't obtain through peace and simple asking. She began to play looking up at the sky as clouds rolled by. She watched the sky with her blue eyes.

She herself wore no adornment or anything special. She hummed along with the music thinking of a peaceful world. She shut her eyes, she was 21 years old and was being pressured with suitors and people she could marry. Her parents wanted her to marry.

Metir, in the middle of his musings, heard some very pleasant music being played nearby.
He stood up and walked towards the source, wondering who else would be in this area.
Emerging out of a small grove of trees, he saw a woman playing, and he gasped at her beauty.
Despite only wearing very simple clothing, her beauty was radiant, and he approached her, sitting before her and silently watching her play.

She looked up and saw a peasant boy watching her. She looked at him and grinned. "Can I play anything for you, m'lord?" She said. She thought he was a simple peasant, but seh was playing the peasant as well. So it would not be questioned. She watched him as she plucked along not afraid of him. She had a knife hidden in one boot. She was well trained with it.

Metir merely shook his head.
"Nay. Pray, continue playing what you were earlier, milady."
He smiled at her.
She truly was radiant! Hair as golden as the sun, with a voice that would put sirens to shame!

He smiled at her and listened to her voice.
After the song, he waited in silence for a few minutes, then looks at her.
"Milady, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"

She looked up. She had the name that was given to her by her teachers, not her "Christian" name. She plucked a bit at her lute and then looked at him and smiled. "You may call me Raven." Her teacher had given her that name because he had come from a Barbarian tribe and said that she was as wise adn cunning as a Raven. Raven was teh name she used when she was out as a peasant. Her honest to God name was Princess Adelaide. She was sure that in this part of the woods, she was sure if she said Adelaide, everyone would recognize her as a princess.

He smiled. "Raven. An odd name, to be certain, but beautiful for one as radiant as yourself."
He bowed deeply.
"My name is simply Joshua."
This was not a lie. People called him Prince Metir, but Joshua was his first name.
