For hundreds of years, vampires have been breeding werewolves as their slaves and servants. Some wolves were lucky; their masters adored them, pampered them the same way that spoiled little valley girls baby their toy chihuahuas. But was that the case with Alex? Did she have a master that loved her to pieces and rewarded her for her loyalty?

Nah, she wasn't that lucky.

Alex came from a long line of guard dogs, warriors, and brawlers. Her body was naturally built for power, and she just had those instincts that guided her, the ones that told her when the perfect time to strike was…and a bit of a temper. The temper was the reason she was a pit fighter and not a pleasure slave. And the reason she hadn't managed to stay with an owner for more than 6 months. She tended to lash out and bite, especially if she was forced to live inside of a cage so that her master didn't have to worry about her.

So she had been traded through the hands of vampire masters ever since she turned 16. Few wanted to deal with a pet that was just as likely to kill them as she was to win them a prize purse. Pitting werewolves against one another during the full moon, when they were forced to change and reduced to their base instincts, was a rather lucrative business. Even during these modern times people still shell out tons of money on a blood sport. And Alex was a dynamo in the ring. Just rough around the edges, but that was only because she was so young. So she had been bought by a vampire, a man named Lee Ulrich.

And now she was going to die. All thanks to Lee who had been withholding food and water in an attempt to break her will. When that hadn't worked and she was still scheduled for a match, did he call it off and let her recuperate? No. He had tossed her into the ring with a wolf that was 5 years her senior and about 50lbs of muscle and nourishment heavier.

Of course, Alex had gotten her ass handed to her. Now she lay on a cold, dirty floor, slowly bleeding to death.

"Useless mutt." Lee growled, taking his steel-toed boot and kicking Alex square in the stomach with it. The girl whimpered softly, but did not move. She didn't have the energy to reflexively curl inwards on herself. "Pick her up and dump the body." He barked at two of his underlings. The last thing they needed were human authorities screwing up their way of life by stumbling upon a dead body.

She was jammed into the trunk of a very nice Mercedes, and then dumped a couple of miles away, in a forest where real wolves could come around and strip the meat off her bones. Alex cursed the silver that had been injected into her body. If that wasn't there, floating about in her blood stream and ruining her life, things might have been better. But as it was, Alex just shut her eyes and hoped that it would be a bear that came along and ate her. Something that was massive and that would kill her in one swipe before eating her.

RE: The Lycan Uprising

“Poor creature, put through Hell then forced to suffer a slow and painful death.” A soft voice whispered in the ear of the dying Lycan. “Although a swift death would suit you just fine, it’s just not your turn to leave this land.” The woman attached to the soft voice slowly picks up the bleeding Lycan, her blood soaking the woman’s white dress as she walks through the leaf covered forest. “You’re meant for a greater path, one of redemption and peace.” The curvy figure carries the weakening creature to a small cottage in the middle of the forest, using her foot to push the unlocked door open. “Rest, little one.” She lays the woman down on a soft bed, running her hand over her injured body.

When all is said and done, the Lycans body has wrapping over all her wounds and a wet cloth over her eyes. “Drink this.” She whispers as she takes out a small glass of blood, a highly concentrated mixture of super nutrient blood and other herbs to jump start the Lycans depleting energy, something the creature needs to be able to rapid heal itself. The dark haired figure opens the Lycans mouth with one hand and slowly drips the nutrient rich blood into her mouth with another, letting the scrappy fighter gently swallow each drop until the glass is empty. “Now rest, for when you wake up is when the real pain will be endured.” The figure knew of the silver running through the Lycans body. It would be impossible for the little creature to morph into it’s’ more fearsome form, which is a tell of being a Vampires slave, or mutt as they are called sometimes.

In the end though, the mystery woman had a plan, she had had visions of the future and this one Lycan occupied them all, such a strong will she has, one to be envied by even the strongest of Vampires. With the help of the woman, this Lycans destiny was finally set in motion, now all she needed was a little push in the right direction.

The mystery woman, I bet you’re wondering just who she is, or was. Well, her name is Zoe Omar and she is one of the last Mages to set foot on Earth. For centuries now only Lycans and Vampires were known for being very much still alive, the Vampires using their pet dogs to hunt down and kill all Mages, said they were too powerful, too dangerous. The Vampires often feared what they couldn’t control, and unlike their pets, Mages could not be controlled with collars and a beating. Although Mages are known for their sweet persona and the way they give to others, Zoe lost that ability when she watched in horror as her parents were ripped to shreds by a pack of Vampire controlled Lycans.

Such a gruesome scene and must has been repressed, all except the one image of her mother turning her head, giving Zoe one last smile and a wink before brutally being killed. That move by her mother had to mean something, she had to of done something to Zoe because at that moment of the wink, the young Mage felt something warm wash over her, something empowering. For the rest of her days Zoe thought about that moment as she jumped from town to town, hiding and gaining strength. Even as a young Mage she still had her fair share of kills when it came to both Lycans and Vampires, the time for a nice Mage was over, the world needed something more brutal, something for the Vampires to fear.

After jumping from town to town, Zoe finds a secluded cave deep in the forest that she uses as a temporary home, somewhere she can read her mother’s old Mage books and begin her own quest towards getting more powerful. Using some of the magic she knew she made the entrance of the cave look like it was a solid rock instead of a gaping hole. Now that she was finally alone she could begin, for years all the young Mage would do is read her old books and practice her abilities. Often frustration would take over and cause an explosion or changing the Mage into some sort of animal but that was the fun of learning.

It took quite a long time to read all the books, around twenty years actually and while in the dark cave for so long, the young Mages hair turned a bright white from its normal brunette color. She liked it though; it made her look wise even though she was still a youngling by Mage years. Upon finishing the books and exhausting herself, Zoe left the cave in search of more. Experience would carry the Mage the rest of the way, she wanted to start helping others with her new found powers and she started by going back home to the town where her parents were killed. Sure it was still Medieval times so when Zoe walks into the village wearing a white dress to match her white hair, a few red flags are raised and the Lycans patrolling the town gave ample clues that the Vampires were starting their take over.

Zoe didn’t like killing, but the image of her parents being dismembered stuck with her and when the Lycans charged the woman, she did what she did best. Holding her hand up she froze the Lycans in place, they were weak mutts since the stronger ones were probably at castles or larger villages where they were needed. “Rest easy.” Zoe whispered before closing her hand and causing the Lycans heads to cave in on themselves, blood squirting all over the ground as Zoe lets the lifeless bodies fall. A celebration was had in the town when word spread of the Lycans defeat, the town free for the night since word would get back to the Vampire leaders and more would eventually show up. For the night though, the towns’ people enjoyed their freedom and had a massive feast celebrating the Mage.

Though when the morning came around, the town was burned to the ground and the people were forced to be turned by the Vampires, the blood sucking assholes using their Lycans to turn the towns’ people into more blood thirsty dogs. Their freedom taken away again, Zoe moved on and wandered the world, hoping to find more like her, her search would bring great heartbreak but teach her so much.

Centuries later, the current year being 2014, Zoe slowly took care of a young Lycan, a little one that got thrown to another Lycan without being properly prepared. The young Lycan would make it, but it was still up to her if she would follow the path of her destiny or forge her own path. Zoe would not tamper with her decision, just try to nudge her in the right direction and help when the time came. Letting the Lycan rest, the white haired woman sat in her garden and tended to her flowers. Though powerful and full of wisdom, she spent her days tending to sick creatures and helping the occasional human who was down on their luck. She played a waiting game, she had to wait until the young Lycan was in place, her near lifeless body thrown into the woods would signal the end of the Vampires reign. The day had finally arrived, and soon the Mage would wait again, for the Lycan to awake and come find Zoe in the garden.

Fucking Lee. How many tens of thousands of dollars had she won him? And now the cheap bastard couldn’t even spend a couple bucks on a silver bullet to put her out of her prolonged misery? Her death was taking forever…maybe because she was all alone… Time always goes by so slow when you’re by yourself and have nothing left to do but wonder what was going to happen next. Did she go to heaven? Hell? Maybe she’d get reincarnated as something else…

Alex had always been taught that no one should ever die alone…yet here she was, praying for an animal to come eat her so that there was a warm body near her when she died. Alex wasn’t afraid of death. She’d been ready to die at age 10, when she had been taken away from her parents.

She really wanted her mom right now…

A voice by her ear startled her before she could begin to cry like a pup; drawing her back to this world and out of her own musings. Her chest rumbled as a deep, feral growl built up and launched it’s way out of her throat. She wanted to turn and bite the stranger that didn’t smell right; but she didn’t have the energy to do so. Even growling was becoming a chore. By now her skin had lost all color, her lips and nailbeds had turned a light shade of purple, and she felt so very cold and so very tired.

The woman that had picked her up didn’t have the undead stench of a vampire on her…nor did she smell like a human or one of her kind. She was weird…strong…for a human female anyways. Maybe Alex had just lost so much weight, she was so light that even a human woman could carry her without a problem.

Hmmph…redemption, peace. Pfft! Yeah right. But she bit her tongue, and let the crazy woman talk. Alex already knew her path, it was the same one that her ancestors had traveled for hundreds of years: to fight and to die, that was the path she walked. At least the notion of rest was something that they both could agree on. She couldn’t wait to go to sleep. She just relaxed as the woman took care of her, not like she had the energy to do much else anyways.

Another growl and she pursed her lips into a thin line when offered something to drink. She didn’t want to eat –anything- that the stranger was going to give her. But her nose twitched slightly at the smell of blood.

Okay…maybe she did want to eat something.

So she drank up, it was more than enough to help sate her hunger and make her feel less dizzy. As soon as the other woman stopped talking, she was asleep…only to be woken up again about two hours later, screaming in pain. She didn’t like how the silver serum that the vampires had given her left her body. It never stopped hurting, even though she had endured this for years. The silver would slowly move out from her muscles and into her blood stream; making her entire body feel as though it were melting from the inside out. Once there it would travel upwards until it could finally sweat out from her pores, making her skin feel as though it were being pricked by thousands of needles.

Panting softly when it was all over, she felt much better now. And now she was –starving- and needed something eat. But the stranger was safe from her hunger…Alex didn’t like to eat humans. Her parents had always told her stories that it made the lycan curse worse. That if she started eating humans, she’d become a mindless monster and not be able to control herself. She’d just be lost to her wolf form for forever and lose the ability to transform.

Alex carefully got out of bed and followed the human’s scent outside to the garden. She studied her for a moment as she was bent over, tending to her flowers. Maybe she should just run away? And go where? Do what? With a soft sigh, the young wolf was quickly realizing that she was stuck here with this strange woman, at least until she regained her strength.

“I’m hungry…” She croaked out after a moment. Alex had always been owned by one creature or another…and while she had thoughts and dreams of her own, she didn’t entirely know what to do with the freedom to commit her own actions. Would her new Mistress let her hunt in the woods? Or was this human going to feed her something.

Zoe was at peace while tending to her garden, the smell of the flowers and buzz of the honey bees as they suckled the nectar of her tulips. “Such a pretty day outside.” Zoe ignored the creature behind her, the Lycan could wait until she was done enjoying the view of her garden. “Such a little flower creates so much.” Zoe stands up straight and waves her hand slowly over her garden, the budding flowers springing to life and blooming within seconds. The garden was full of colorful flowers now as Zoe turns around to look at the Lycan. “I bet you’re hungry, you were almost dead a few hours ago.” Zoe smiles sweetly at the battered and bruised female as she walks up towards the porch. “Come with me, I will get you something that will aid in building your strength back. Then you’re free to hunt as you wish.” Zoe walks by the woman as she heads into the cottage then enters a doorway that leads to a basement. “Hmm, let me see.” She mutters to herself while she searches for something to help the Lycan. “Gotcha.” A leg of a doe, such a pretty creature it was before sacrificing itself for a greater good.

“Here you go youngling.” Zoe had the leg in hand, the bloody part wrapped in a piece of plastic so it didn’t drip on the wood floors. “Eat it outside, I will have clothing ready for you when you arrive back.” Zoe kept her word as she went to her own bedroom and grabbed a pair of jeans, bra and panties and a tank top. “This should do, yes yes.” Zoe looked over the clothing then walked to the spare bedroom to lay the clothing onto the bed. Leaving the clothes on the bed, Zoe heads back through the cottage then outside to where the woman was. “Take your time eating it, Alex. There’s more where that came from if you’re still hungry after, but just don’t stuff yourself.” Zoe left the Lycan to her meal as she walked back to her garden and sat down.

“Such a pretty smell, love it.” Being through so much in her long life, Zoe learned to enjoy the little things and not much was smaller than a flower. Zoe didn’t reflect much on her past other than remembering her parents before the brutal killing, she remembered them for the loving people they were and how they would give all they could to help someone. Her parents definitely made a lasting impression on her and provided her the tools to survive as long as she has. “When you’re done munching on that deer, I left clothes for you in the spare bedroom, but you must shower and the bathroom is down the hall to the right. Towels are in the cabinet just before the bathroom.” Zoe looks over at Alex while she chows down then turns back to her flowers. Sure it looked weird, a stranger just sitting in the middle of a garden wearing a white dress to match her white hair. Although it did look weird, Zoe didn’t mind the stares she would get when she walked into town to do some shopping. Yes, armed with arsenal of magic abilities and spells she could just summon up something as simple as a bag of groceries. Yes she could just cast a spell on Alex to heal her instantly, but she didn’t, she loved doing things for herself and Alex needed to heal naturally from the wounds put on her because of a fierce owner. Alex needed the scars to remind her of the man who harmed her, who left her for dead.

Alex waited, as patiently as she could for someone that was so hungry. This human was weird, focusing on something so silly as flowers. You’d think she was a little old woman, acting the way she was. And apparently…she was! Alex blinked in surprise as the whole garden erupted into blossoming flowers. Only Mages could do such tricks…and they were supposed to be extinct, wiped out centuries ago by the Vampires.

Part of her wanted to run…Vampires tell wolves scary stories about Mages. It made the Lycans fear them…but you’d probably be afraid too if someone told you that Mages used Lycan hearts in their most powerful spells, that they used the bones of pups to stir their cauldrons. But…well…if the Mage wanted to kill her, she could have already done so. She had saved Alex and so, Alex owed her her life she supposed. So she followed after the human like a little puppy dog, trailing after her all the way down to the basement where she could smell food.

The young wolf accepted the leg and nodded her thanks before retreating with her prize. She went out into the yard so that she wouldn’t make a mess on the floors and then sat down with the massive doe leg infront of her. It was still bloody and raw… even though this form could digest such a thing, her teeth and jaw would grow tired of all the tearing and chewing. So she used up the last bit of energy she had to shift forms, to turn into the monstrous grey wolf that sent humans running. She herself found the form quite beautiful, she didn’t know what all the hubbub was about whenever humans accidentally stumbled upon her.

Her Lycan form was 8 feet even from nose to tail. Usually her grey fur was beautiful and soft to the touch, but now it was matted and dirty with her own sweat and blood. With a mouth full of ferocious fangs and incredibly sharp claws on her paws, Alex was built for killing. Prey was not going to get away from her! Her arms were long enough that she could easily go onto all fours and chase down a fleeing animal.

She was barely listening to the Mage every time the other woman passed by her, she was too intent on shoving as much delicious meat and cool blood into her mouth as she possibly could. Alex felt much better now that she had food in her belly, but she knew better than to as for more more. The Mage had been right, if she stuffed herself full, she was just going to make herself sick. So once she had stripped the dear leg down and cracked the bones open in order to get out the marrow, she took a breather.

Of course all that work had left her fur a mess. Blood and bone pieces were much easier to get off of skin than out of fur, so she shifted back into her human form and tried her best to get clean. Though…getting clean involved her rolling around in the grass and letting the soft blades comb out the blood and marrow from her skin. Hah! Clean! Except…for all the dirt on her skin and grass in her hair. At least it was better than blood and animal parts.

“Yes…Mistress…” Alex murmured when told she’d have to bathe after eating. She’d never had a Mistress before, the word felt strange on her lips. Usually she was kept by men, they were the ones that seemed to be so fascinated by blood sports like pitfighting. With that, she took her leave and headed off to the bathroom. It had been a long time since she had had a proper shower and it took her a little bit of fumbling around with the knobs before she figured out how to make the thing go. Most of her baths involved a garden hose, but this was –much- better.

When she was finished scrubbing her slowly healing wounds clean, she turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. Green eyes surveyed her reflection in the foggy mirror and she grimaced a bit at what she saw. Her cheeks were hollowed and her ribs showed so easily if she breathed too deeply. Her body was covered in black and blues, as well as wounds that were no longer bleeding, but would definitely scar.

Alex wrapped a towel around her nude body, and then padded out towards the bedroom where her clothes were supposed to be. She tugged on the jeans and tank top, then ran her fingers through her hair to get out some of the tangles and make it look a little nicer. Even werewolves could be a bit vain from time to time.

Once she was finished and looked a little less haggard, she followed the scent of her new Mistress back outside and into the garden And there she knelt down, quiet, out of the way, and waiting.

Zoe heard the cracking and snapping of the bones, she was happy that the Lycan had enough energy to break the tough bones, she was healing just fine. Zoe often smiled even at the littlest of victories, and hearing this Lycan devour her meal was a small victory, she made it to her in time to save a fragile life. “So pretty.” Zoe whispers to a flower before slowly standing up when she hears the Lycan come back outside after a fresh shower. “I’m glad you enjoyed your meal.” Zoe walks over and extends her hand to the woman, the palm of her hand laying under Alexs’ chin and lifting her head up to look at Zoe.

Zoe looked down into the Lycans eyes, seeing so much ambition within a creature made her angry at the being who left her for dead. “Such bright green eyes, who could just throw you away.” Zoe spoke softly to the wolf before her hand slid to her cheek then her other hand came down and occupied the other cheek. “I told you back in the woods that you were meant for greater things, your destiny has been set in motion and now only you can forge the path you were meant to follow.” Zoe was true to her words as she knelt down so she was at eye level with Alex.

“I do owe you one thing, a glimpse at the vision that drove me to find you.” Zoe closed her eyes and her hands began to heat up, a bright light escaping from between her hands and the girls cheeks. Soon the white haired womans eyes shot open, her eyes were bright like the sun before images shot through her head and into Alexs’. Within the vision a young woman could be seen, she was more mature, had scars in the same places that Alex had wounds right now. She was holding a mighty blade, guns at her side and she was standing on a cement wall. She had raised her blade and over the wall came an army of Lycans, man and beasts alike jumping the wall and charging at an army of Vampires just 100 yards away. “You see, this is just a glimpse of your potential, only you can make this vision come true. Some were meant to fight in a pit, and some were meant to change the history of a whole species.” Zoe slowly let go of the youngling, her eyes returning to normal as she stood up slowly.

“Alex, I don’t know if you remember your parents, but they were great beings. They tried to rise above the Vampires, sadly they were struck down by their own people, betrayed by mutts.” Zoe didn’t like giving sad news but Alex deserved to know that her parents lived honorably. “Your green eyes remind me of your mothers, you not only have her eyes, your wolf form was the same as hers.” Zoe knelt back down, knowing this could be a lot for the young wolf. “Just know that your mother loved you more than life itself, she hid you from the Vampires for as long as she could, your father killed many Lycans in order to hide you from them. But, you know what happened in the end, and you need to take your past and use it to make yourself stronger, use your heartbreak to find your inner beast, a strike down the Vampire elders!” Of course Zoe yelled that last part, it wasn’t because of the Lycans that her own parents were ripped to shreds, but the Vampires behind the beasts who were controlling them.

Zoe had to calm herself as her eyes glazed over with a bright red, her hands clinching fists as she stood up. “Know that you’re not alone, there are Lycans all over the world that escaped their Vampire masters, now they’re just waiting for someone to stand up and band them all together. They need a leader, you can either be that leader or fall into hiding with the rest of them.” Zoe patted the wolf on the head before walking around her and up the porch. “Come, you need to rest, your body still needs to heal and you need to begin your training tomorrow.” Zoe left the front door open as she walked inside, waving her hand in front of herself so her outfit changed into a large t-shirt, under it a pair of white panties and no bra. Though she was a Mage, she still enjoyed her relaxed wear.

Alex flinched as the Mage came closer with her hands raised. She thought that she was going to be struck across the face and then beaten for no reason, much like how her previous Masters had treated her. But once she realized that she was being pet instead of abused, she relaxed into the touch, even tilted her head to get a little more.

The vision that was shown to her was a nice little trick, but she didn’t believe it for one second. There was no way that a mutt like her was going to lead a bunch of Lycans in a war against their Vampire overlords. She had no formal training, no contacts, and she was young, very young. Who the hell was going to listen to a girl that was still nothing but a pup?

Her heart sank as soon as news of her parents’ death hit her. This whole time, the young wolf had thought that -maybe- her parents were still alive. Somewhere out there, searching for her. Or more likely, somewhere acting as slaves. The last memory she had of them was the night she had been taken away. The whole week before, her father hadn’t allowed her out of their cabin in the woods, which was strange because her parents always let her run free. He’d come home…sometimes covered in blood, and Alex had just thought he had been hunting. But apparently, if what Zoe was saying was true, he was out killing Lycans that were sent by Vampires.

And then that fateful night came when not only Lycans, but also Vampires had come into the cabin. Her father had put up a brave fight, but had been knocked out and collared. Her mother had tried her best to get at her as a Vampire picked her up and took a screaming, 10 year old Alex away, but she too had been collared.

But they weren’t slaves like her…they were dead.

She sniffled slightly, her eyes welling up with tears. Alex was too stubborn to cry. Instead, she grit her teeth so hard that she thought her molars were going to shatter and struggled to keep the tears from falling. She wasn’t a pup anymore, she wasn’t going to cry. People died all the time. It wasn’t a big deal. Her mom and dad were just...Dead…

Alright, so it was a big deal. And she was going to cry. But she did it quietly, as soon as the Mage left to go up the porch. Staring down at her bare feet, she let her eyes unfocus and the tears fall down her cheeks, off her chin, and into the grass. She stayed like that for awhile, just long enough to sort of process the news that had just been given to her. And when she was done and fairly certain that she wasn’t going to burst into tears infront of strangers anymore, she wiped her face and took a deep breath.

Grief is for the living, not for the dead.

After steadying herself, she went into the home. It only took her a few moments to find the Mage in her bedroom. The door was still open, so Alex let herself inside.

“You’ve got the wrong girl…I’m not a leader. But thank you…for everything so far.” ‘Thank you’ was a strange thing to be saying to a being that was not a Lycan, but she supposed the Mage deserved some thanks.

Now…there was just the problem of where she was going to sleep. The Mage didn’t expect her to sleep in the other bedroom, did she? That would just be silly… Besides, who was going to guard her if Alex slept all the way over there? So she shifted into her wolf form and moving to the foot of the Mage’s bed. There, now she could protect the person who had saved her in order to repay the debt of having her life saved. And…even though she wouldn’t admit it, she was afraid to sleep alone. Alex had never had a room of her own, she had been kept in dungeons or cages with other wolves for so long that she couldn’t even remember a time that she had not heard another person’s breathing as she fell asleep. So settled down on the floor, curling up into a ball and shutting her green eyes so that she could sleep.

----

It was dangerous to go outside.

Papa said that their forest wasn't safe anymore, that they might have to move. Alex didn't want to move, she liked her house. It was nice. There was a lot of room for her to have adventures and play in. But...maybe it wouldn't be so bad to move. Sometimes the forest got really lonely. They lived in the middle of the woods: no humans, no Lycans, no Vampires, nothing. It was just her, her mom, and her dad. Sometimes, very rarely, other wolves would find them and stay in the guest bedroom for a little while. These Lycans were dirty and looked all beaten up when they first arrived. Mommy said they were strays, that they didn't have homes anymore and needed help. So her parents would help them as best they could. Her papa would show the wolves how to fight, and her mother would feed them and help them return to their full strength. Then they'd leave, and it would just be Alex, her mom, and her dad again.

Tonight it was one of those nights where it was just the three of them.

"Daddy?" Alex rubbed the sleep from her eyes as her unsteady legs carried her out into the living room. It was very late, way past her bedtime. But the sound of the front door opening and closing had woken her up, so had the scent of blood. She had tried to curl up under the blankets and go back to sleep...but the sound of hushed voices had scared her. So she had gotten out of bed and padded out to investigate, stopping in the doorway of the living room when she saw her parents. Her mother was sitting on the couch, looking very worried, while her father paced around infront of her, talking about something that Alex didn't quite catch. When he heard her pipe up, he immediately stopped his pacing and turned to face her.

"Heeeyyy there kiddo. Did I wake you? I'm sorry, honey." Her father smiled, but it was the kind of smile that was forced. His shirt was torn and covered in blood; some of it smelled like strangers...and some of it smelled like his own. He looked tired and his voice was a little strained...like he was trying to hide something. "Go back to bed sweethea-"

CRASH!

The sound of glass breaking as a large Lycan hurled himself through the window caused Alex and her mother to scream.

"Anna! Take Alex and go!" Her father roared before shifting into his true, black wolf form.

"Michael!" Her mother cried as the front door was beat down and more enemies poured in. There were so many wolves and she could smell Vampires coming their way as well...Michael was a massive werewolf, but there was no way that he was going to be able to escape. But maybe together... "Alex! Run!" Anna wasn't going anywhere. She was going to help free Michael and then they were going to leave, together. And if nothing else...well...maybe this would buy Alex a little more time to find a good hiding spot until this was all over. She began to shift, to change into the beautiful white wolf that her daughter so loved to cuddle with when she was scared. Her green eyes caught Alex's before the transformation was complete; noticing that her daughter appeared to be cemented to the floor, she quickly added. "We'll be right behind you, I promise."

The little girl shook her head back and forth quickly. She wasn't going to go, she knew her mother was lying. Her mother had always been a terrible liar. They -weren't- going to be right behind her if she ran into the forest. And even at 10, the young wolf understood that you don't run away from your family. This was her pack, it was small, but it was hers, and this is where she belonged: fighting with her parents. So she ran forward, prepared to show that she was brave, just like her mom and dad. But she was still young, too young to shift into her true form like her parents could. The best she could do was sink her little human teeth into one of the vampires that was trying to collar her father and hit at his thigh. And he just -laughed- at her, which of course made little Alex angry and bite him harder. Hard enough that she actually hurt him. He slapped her across the face which sent her reeling.

"Stupid mutt." the Vampire hissed, his eyes glowing red in his fury. Alex thought she was going to die, that he was going to hit her again and that was going to be it. But she wasn't afraid. She was going to defend her parents! She was going to fight for her family!

At least...she thought she was going to. But that wouldn't be the case. The man she had bit scooped her up into his arms and held her so tightly that he pushed the air out of her lungs. Much to her horror, she wasn't going to be doing anymore fighting. She was getting carried away and out the door.

"Mama!!" Alex screamed, flailing around in her captor's arms and reaching desperately over his shoulder for her mother. She rather die than be separated from her parents. The last thing she saw was a white wolf amidst a sea of vampires and dirty Lycans, getting a heavy iron collar clipped to her regal neck.

"ALEX!!!!!"

---

"AHHHHHHHARRRRROOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Alex awoke with a start on the bedroom floor, making a noise that was somewhere between a scream and a howl. Her mother's voice was still ringing in her ears, and that only got replaced by the sound of her heart which was pounding impossibly fast. Her grey fur was matted with sweat and her body was cold to the touch.

Dream...just a dream...

Not a dream, a memory...a really shitty one.

Zoe was sound asleep when Alex started having her dream, more like a nightmare actually, and nightmarish memory. While she was having her nightmare, Zoe could see it all, sharing the nightmare with the furry creature at the end of her bed. Yes it was a horrid event for anyone to go through, but the event did not Alex and for what does not kill you, only makes you stronger. Surely the Vampire that had gotten bitten by the little girl would pass word onto the buyer of Alex, letting them know she was young but she was fearless and a fighter. What Alex thought was self defense and defending her family, could have been her downfall, a Vampire loves a Lycan that can fight and has little fear.

During the nightmare Zoe laid there watching through the eyes of Alex, cute little girl she was, too bad the Vampires had to take such innocence and turn it to their will. As Alex came down from her dream Zoe slowly slid out of bed and walked around the bed and knelt down to the large beast. “You were a little scrapper even at 10 years old, your parents would be proud of you.” Yes, all Alex knows now is servitude and bowing down to those who ‘own’ her, but Zoe would try to change all that, push the Lycan in the right direction towards being the legend she was born to be. Though she was a pit fighter, her parents would still be proud of her survival, it wasn’t easy being as young as Alex is and still being alive, most pit Lycans were older and males, so to be a female pit fighter and survive even a year in the pit was something to be recognized.

“You may not believe that you were destined for more than being a slave, but I will make you believe, you’re just in need of some training and a different thought process.” It wasn’t easy breaking a slave from their old habits, Zoe saw earlier how Alex thought she was going to get hit when Zoe touched her face, plus the way she decided to sleep on the floor instead of the spare bed in the other room.

“Tonight will start your transformation.” Zoe reaches down and takes the huge arm of Alex and gently pulls her to her feet. “I’m safe in here, and you need to rest correctly if you plan on getting your strength back. Laying on this hard floor will not allow you to heal as fast as you need to.” Zoe pats the beasts law before leading her out of the room and down the hall to the other bedroom.

“Now change back to your human form while I get you something to sleep in.” Zoe heads out of the room and walks back to her own, grabbing a large shirt before heading back to the spare bedroom. “Put this on and lay in the bed, it’s warm, comfy and I have a large blanket for you.” The woman heads over to the closet, reaching up on the top shelf to grab a large comforter for Alex. “I won’t take no for an answer, now put the shirt on and get into the bed.” Zoe puts the blanket at the foot of the bed before standing back to let Alex change back into her human form.

Alex was quiet, only half-listening to the Mage as she spoke. Her head was busy replaying her dream, grasping at the threads of the memory and trying to piece it all back together. It’s funny how the mind does that, even with nightmares. The werewolf flinched as her new Mistress reached out and took her arm. It was very strange to be touched by a being that was not one of her own kind…especially when the hand had such tenderness behind it. So she allowed herself to be hauled up onto her paws and up to her full height that towered over the white-haired Mage.

She was too tired to argue; too tired to assure the other woman that she was used to sleeping on the floor, that she actually –liked- sleeping on the floor. After all, the wood floor was much more comfortable than a steel cage grating. The floor of her Mistress’ bedroom was pretty much the nicest living condition she had had in the past 7 years.

Alex followed along on her Mistress’ heels. Head bowed and quiet, she felt like she was actually being punished for being so noisy in her sleep; that the Mage was upset that Alex had woken her up and now she had to sleep somewhere else. Vampires used to put her in solitary confinement when she was bad. But Alex was a pack animal, a social creature, she didn’t like to be left alone. When she was instructed that she was going to be left in this guest room to sleep, she let out a soft, involuntary whine.

Sleeping by yourself is scary. How are you supposed to make sure that your back is being watched from attackers if you are all alone?

But, there was probably no arguing with this stubborn human. And if Alex had more energy, she probably would have given up a better fight. With a soft sigh, the wolf went ahead and commanded her body to shift back into her human form. She cringed at the pain, grunting softly in agony. Her entire structure was changing: bones, muscles, organs, everything. Shifting always felt like every single bone in her body were being broken all at once. But she had gotten used to the torture of shifting forms by now; the lycanthrope virus running through her veins helped her body heal so fast that the pain was only fleeting.

She didn’t much mind being naked in a room with someone else. After all, nudity was only natural. Plus, slaves weren’t really allowed modesty. Vampires were constantly on guard, making sure their pets weren’t stashing any homemade weapons anywhere. She had had one owner that was so paranoid that she had spent three months in a cage without any clothes.

Alex accepted the large shirt and tugged it over her head. She didn’t understand why her new Mistress wished for her to stay in this form; it was weak, defenseless. But… it did require less energy for her to sleep in this smaller form rather than her true one. The young wolf looked at the bed suspiciously before deciding that it would be okay for her to climb into it.. She crawled in under the sheets, tugging the blanket over her head and curling up into a little ball.

“Is that all, Mistress?” A sleepy, muffled voice piped up from under the blankets.

Zoe turns and looks at Alex, nodding with a small smile. “That will be all, get some sleep.” With that said, Zoe turns and walks out of the bedroom, leaving the door open as she heads back to her own bedroom. What a day it has been, but it was only the beginning of a long journey for the young Lycan. Alex was truly meant to do greater things with her life, Zoe just had to point her in the right direction. But with how stubborn the Lycan is being about accepting her destiny, instead of pointing her in the right direction she might need to be pushed, a little hard actually.

When morning finally comes around, Zoe slides out of bed and heads to the basement to retrieve a deer leg. She wasn’t going to wake Alex up, but instead test her to see if even in her sleep, she can smell blood. Zoe carries the leg to the middle of the forest, using a string to hang the leg from a tree. “That should do.” She wipes her hands off on the grass before heading back to the cabin. While waiting for Alex to wake up, the Mage tends to her garden, she would eat when the Lycan does, plus with the sun just coming up, it was too early for her to eat anyways.

It was funny how the destined leader of the Lycans was such a submissive puppy, it seems that Zoe had her work cut out of her with training this Lycan to drop be submissive attitude and turn her into a lethal fighting machine that all Vampires should fear. Not only will Alex have to be strong, but she’ll need to have a silver tongue, it’ll take a lot of convincing to turn Lycans on their masters, but this woman could do it. This Lycan was still in her infant stage, her fur was still a grey color which meant she had the mild nature of her mother, Zoe needed to bring out the beast within her in order for her fur to change from her mothers grey, to her fathers coal black. The Vampires would not be scared of a grey colored Lycan, the black furred Lycans were the ones to be truly feared, or even the rare white furred Lycans. Zoe could only hope that Alex had enough rage inside her to turn her fur white, but she would be content with just black fur for now.

Alex was so completely and utterly exhausted from a day of almost dying that she didn’t move at all that night. And if she had dreams, she didn’t remember them by the time morning came. As the sun began to beat through the guest room curtains, the young werewolf began to stir. She grunted and groaned softly as her stiff muscles cramped up on her as she stretched out her entire lean form as her mouth opened to let out a massive yawn.

“Mmmgrph…” The brunette grunted and threw the covers off of her, green eyes squinting shut a bit as she tried to dull the glare of the sunlight. She was hungry, very, very, -very- hungry. The doe leg from yesterday hadn’t been enough to fill her up. Even though she was still young for a lycan, she could still eat almost half of a full grown deer on her own. Well…she had been able to anyways, before her previous master had thought that starving her would be a good idea. Even though she had this insatiable hunger, she didn’t dare to eat more than the little bits that her Mistress gave her. Speaking of her Mistress…where was she? Alex didn’t hear the mage shuffling about the house, and so got out of bed, moving about and trying to find her… at least…she started to. A breeze rolled through the open window and Alex’s sensitive nose was now suddenly flooded with the smell of food. She could smell blood, -delicious- blood that made her mouth water and her stomach grumble.

Before she could even think to notify her new Mistress of what she was doing or where she was going, Alex was already stripping out of her clothing so that she could shift without tearing the cloth to shreds. She bolted out the door, and by the time she had hit the porch she had shifted entirely into her werewolf form. She dropped onto all fours and was off, running as fast as she could to see if she could scavenge whatever animal was bleeding in the forest.

But…no animal waited for her in the woods. Instead, there was a deer leg, hanging by a string. She growled softly, now growing suspicious. It looked like a trap, something set out here to lure stupid wolves or bears. So she prowled around the strung up piece of meat, trying to figure out just how the trap worked. But when she noticed that the string was not attached to anything other than the tree branch, she decided it was safe.

Alex clumsily clambered up the tree so that she could sever the rope. Once the doe leg dropped to the ground with a soft thud, she quickly scrambled down so that she could enjoy her little feast. She laid down, taking her time with her breakfast this time because she really had missed the taste of proper food.

Five years is a long time, time that has been spent changing. Not only for Alex, but for Zoe as well. After sending Zoe out to choose her path, Zoe ran into trouble with and things didn't go the Elementals way. Of course she survived, but it hardened her, took away her sweetness that she held onto for so many years. Now she was driven by revenge and anger. Her look changed along with her attitude, the body she once treated as a temple had ink slung all over it, her white silky hair half shaved and cut shorter. You can say that Zoe lost her innocence after releasing Zoe. The Vampires knew they couldn't kill Zoe, but in their attempt to do so, they created a person that you just don't want to fuck with now. Over the long five years Zoe traveled and made sure to leave a wake of death wherever she went. It was four years of traveling and hunting down the Vampires that tried to make her life Hell, the last year she vanished, making them think she gave up looking. What happened to Zoe that made her change so much, well that story can wait until later.

Almost to the day that Zoe released Alex, she makes her way into a small town. She heard of a bar that was ran by a Lycan, a strong female Lycan that had the looks of an old friend. In the back of the bar there was a meeting going on and Zoe wasn't about to knock gently as she walks to the back door. She knew what she was in for as she kicked the door in and stared at the group of Lycans, strong ones with the female leader in the middle of them. "Seems you've come a long way after I let you go. Care to chat a little?" Zoe steps inside slowly since the Lycans that don't know her instantly got defensive of their leader. "Calm down doggies, we're old friends." Zoe holds her hands up, making sure they know she wasn't there for a fight.

The past five years had been good for Alex. Well, perhaps not good in the sense that a normal person may define the word 'good', but it was good for her. Zoe had nursed her back to health, had trained her to better control her inner wolf and harness it's power, and then had set her free. At first, Alex had not known what to do with her newfound freedom. She had initially reverted back to her old pit-fighting ways. The past was comfortable, much more than an unknown future. And so Alex had competed for years, fighting humans, fighting other wolves. The money had been good, she'd win match after match. Sometimes she'd throw some just so that people would still be willing to fight her (after all, no one wants to challenge someone when they're sure they're going to lose). But for the most part, her pockets were full of winnings. She lived her life sparingly and had wandered for years until finally, her life changed.

Alex had just been walking, minding her own business, when she had heard a scream in an alleyway. It had been a young kid, no older than 10. Vampires had swarmed him and had been attempting to collar him, so Alex had stepped in. She had slaughtered the group of vampires and helped the injured boy to freedom. Unfortunately the boy's parents had been killed in the attack and Alex had been saddled with him. But Jake had been a blessing in disguise. Alex hadn't had the heart to abandon him and so she had left the city and settled down in a small town where they would be safe. She'd used her winnings to open up a bar. And at first, she'd drawn very little attention to herself. But as the years went by, more and more wolves became aware of the bar in the small town where they could come and lay low.

Apparently she was going to have to move. Because as the door was kicked open even though the bar was closed, Alex suddenly became very aware of how many people knew about this location and how unsafe that was. She had been in a meeting with some of her top officers, all of whom were eager for the uprising. All the wolves immediately stood to their feet, growling and moving to block Alex, to shield her and defend her.

"Alex...?" Jacob growled the question out. He was 15 now, with bravery that was driven by his reckless adolescence. He'd gladly sacrifice himself for Alex, for their cause.

"Stand down, all of you." There were several grumbles, but Alex didn't hold the dissent against her friends. It was hard for them to trust others, especially when those others were not like them. "She is a friend." She smiled slightly and motioned once again for her fellows relax. "We'll stop here for today. Jake, clear the table please and put everything away. The rest of you are dismissed."

Now that that was settled, she stepped forward so that she could get closer to Zoe. Her lips curled into a smile and she embraced the other woman. It was a rather bold act to do to a very powerful mage, but she was more concerned with how it would look to her men. She wanted them to trust the mage that had saved her life and to not provoke her because she knew that Zoe was very powerful and could easily destroy one of her men.

"It's good to see you. You're looking very well." Alex said as she pulled back. Then she motioned towards a door, one that led to her back office. "If you'd like to talk in private, we can go in there."

Zoe looked around the room at the Lycans, they were protective of their leader and Zoe liked that. It seemed the Alex finally found the path she was destined to follow. "I would prefer to talk in private, well sort of since I know your friends will still be able to hear us with their dog like hearing." Zoe was a little bitter since she had killed a few Lycans in her travels as well, it wasn't easy but she had to since they were trying to kill her by orders of the Vampires. "A bar huh? Interesting." Zoe follows Alex to her office, it wasn't very big but a decent size. "It's good to see you in one piece, I'm glad your training had paid off for you. Looks like to even became what I said you would." Zoe has a seat on the edge of the desk, letting out a long breath since she could relax while in the company of Lycans, free Lycans.

"How have you been?" Zoe knew she would be asked the same thing but she wanted to put the attention on Alex first. "You look good, a few new scars I see, been fighting for fun or purpose?" Zoe figured Alex paid for this place using money that she won, or stole, but with Alex it was probably earned through fighting. "What was your meeting about? Your friends seem rather strong, have you been training them?" She asks as she crosses one leg over another, crossing her arms over her chest as well.

"Don't call them dogs. They're wolves. There's a difference." Alex reprimanded her friend gently. Dogs were obedient. Their ears drooped and their tails hung low. They weren't aggressive or proud in the same way wolves were. But since Zoe wanted to talk in private, Alex went ahead and shuffled her friend into her office. It was small with room for a desk and TV attached to the wall so that Alex could watch the news and try to pick out murders that looked like they were done by vampires instead of humans. There was also a nice big leather couch on the opposite side. The upstairs of the bar was her apartment, but she often ended up working late in her office and falling asleep on the couch, too tired to make it upstairs. "You can take a real seat you know." Alex chuckled softly as Zoe perched on the edge of her desk. "You must be tired from your travels." She motioned to the chair across her desk or the couch. Alex herself ended up plopping down on the couch, it was just too comfy to resist.

"Yeah...a bar...heh." Alex smiled a bit, never in a million years had she guessed that she would end up here, running a bar and helping misplaced Lycans. "I fought, for a long time. Made some good money doing it too. But then I ran into Jake and I quickly learned that it's very hard to travel with an 11 year old at your side."

"The meeting..." Alex's voice trailed off, as though she was unsure of whether or not she should tell Zoe what had been going on in the meeting. But she decided that they both had a common enemy and that it would be safe to tell her what was going on. "Vampires have managed to grow more cruel, if you can believe that." Alex smirked slightly before she continued. "They want to wipe out werewolves. It seems our numbers have grown to a point that they believe they need to thin us out close to extinction. They probably want to selectively breed the few remaining wolves to be more docile servants."

"I don't want this position...but it appears there are very few Alphas left. They can tell by my scent...it's like they know that it's in my bloodline. But when they look at me...I can't say 'no'. I know I have to help them. So I'm leading them, training them for the uprising. The wolves you saw in there...I guess you could call them my 'generals'. I train them, give them info, then they go back to their cells and relay everything to other wolves to make them stronger."

"But enough about work...what about you Zoe? I looked for you after you let me go...I had so many questions. But you were gone, I couldn't find you. What've you bee up to all these years? And why are you here?"

"You say wolves, and I say dogs. I have my reasons, but I'll call them wolves if that's what you want." Zoe clearly had a new attitude, different of the Zoe that Alex knew years ago. Upon listening to her friends story, she just nods and takes it in. "So you chose to be the leader I told you you would be. Good for you, use the second chance I gave you to make a difference." Zoe slides off the edge of the desk before having a seat in the chair. "Just keep doing what you're doing, the Lycans need someone to tell them what to do, leadership is what they crave." The tattooed woman crosses her legs, her arms as well as she looks over at Alex.

"About me? Oh you know, nearly being ripped to shreds after you left, a Vampire search party coming to find you only find me and they sick their pets on me. It's not easy healing yourself when your chest is ripped open. But I lived, got stronger and hunted down my attackers. Soon after making sure they were all dead I ended up traveling, getting stronger and trying to find peace once more." Trying to find peace doesn't mean Zoe had found it, she still had a thirst for killing, something she didn't like to do before the attack. "But that event is in the past, now I look forward to the future." Zoe leaves it at that as she reclines in the chair.

"I figured you could use some more muscle, so I came to find you." That was a lie, Zoe had no idea her friend was in this town until she caught her scent. "The reason for me being here doesn't matter, can you use my help or should I just be on my way? Either way I plan on hunting down more Vampires, just not the one you call Jake, you seemed to have him fighting for the good." Zoe sat up, seeing if Alex wanted her help or to let her go.

"You -want- to fight?" Alex's brows raised in surprise. This Zoe was very different from the one that Alex had first met; the one that had just tended to her garden and spoke of silly things like the future and prophecies. The years had definitely been hard on her friend if they had changed her in such a way. Zoe's story of fighting and being mere breaths away from death made Alex's heart twinge slightly in pain. It was hard for her to hear that someone that had shown her such kindness had been forced into such a horrible life over the years.

"I'm glad you don't plan on hunting Jake...he's a good boy." And she knew that Jacob had only turned out so well because he had not been left all alone to be driven mad by his hunger, or taken in by vampires and shown their ways.

"But...are you sure that you want to fight? Not that I don't want your help but ah...you know that you're going to be taking orders from -me- right? I run these wolves and you...you make them nervous. They won't obey you if you start shouting orders at them." It was a mere fact. Perhaps if Zoe were a werewolf, she would be able to persuade the Lycans to follow her and form an army. But as it was, she definitely smelled like a human. Well...not -really- like a human. Her scent was slightly off, letting them know that there was something special about her, even though it was hard to guess that she was a mage.

"And if you joined, you'd be part of a pack Zoe. No running around and doing your own thing anymore. So if you want to stay, I want you to be sure about it." Alex definitely carried herself like an alpha now. And one of the things she had learned as a leader was that she had to lay out her rules and her expectations, that way her followers knew just what they were getting themselves into.

Zoe listened to what Alex had to say and to be honest, it made her smile to see such a new attitude from when she left her years ago. "You listen to me, and listen well." Zoe needed to test this new found dominance as she stepped closer to Alex. "I am here to help you, I don't need your pack to take orders from me and I don't need them to respect or even like me." Zoe was a little angry that Alex wanted full control, Zoe didn't work like that and Alex was pushing her luck. Alright so a little angry was an understatement when it came to Zoe and her new attitude and outlook on life. Her eyes were a bright red and her hands had clasped into fists.

"But fine, I'll listen to what you say, but as soon as you fuck up, you'll be taking orders from me." Zoe steps back from Alex and turns her back to the Lycan. Her eyes return to normal and hands unclasp as she turns back around. "Your warriors are worse than high schoolers." Zoe holds up her hand and waves it across the office wall, making the wall turn transparent to show the group of Lycans with their ears close to the wall. "Those are your warriors, too funny." The mage has a seat on the desk top as she watches the group of Lycans rush away from the wall. "I guess my secret is out. But yes, I will fight as your equal, because you need to remember who gave you this chance and I won't be treated as a weaker being." Zoe crosses her arms as she hears some growls coming from the group.
