The Lady in Waiting (Lady Bloody Ava & Greeneyed23)

Rallon did not get the message.

He was also at the church speaking with the priest there and the mother superior to discuss a problem about the chapel in the castle, a dispute over Alyssa and David's christenings. The priest and the nun both had no issues, but some nobles had claimed that it had not been handled correctly because it had been done in Rose's mansion, despite being completed in their consecrated chapel.

It was truly just a way for the nobles to try to control Rallon's child and godson, but as requested he was letting that go in favor of signing some documents for them both.

He had just finished when he heard a carriage pull up, and curious he went to the door to see who it, then smiling he went out to greet his wife, helping her down, and stole the baby who squealed upon seeing her daddy. "Well if it isn't two of my three favorite ladies."

Cynthia barked and stood up to kiss her mother. "And there is the third. What brings you here my love?" He watched her face curious but not truly concerned as he was holding the baby. His hair and chest were gleaming with fresh water as he cuddled the baby.

The mother superior oohed upon seeing Rose, then again upon seeing the baby. She tried to take the child from her father and he growled. "Not happening Sister." And the two began to bicker about who would hold the baby while Alyssa gurgled and squealed at all the attention.

The priest bowed to Rose. "Lady Granger your visit is most welcome. Is this in regard to your children's home or other business?"

He smiled down at Cynthia, then pointed to one of the benches where Tuchesi lay sleeping. "Your son-in-law seems to be quite worn out." His eyes twinkled playfully, then he grew more serious. "I suppose you recall that the anniversary of our dear brother Patrick's death is coming soon?"

He crossed himself and breathed a prayer for the fallen man. "The Archbishop wants to come visit for the day, to pray for York after the loss of such a good man. I felt you might wish to be there."

Rallon and the sister were still arguing over Alyssa, who was giggling now, pawing at her daddy's face.

Rose was surprised and elated to see her husband when they pulled up and the carriage came to a stop. She laughed brightly as Alyssa held her arms out for her father, waiting to be swept away. "I'm here to give my thanks for the assistance towards the children's project." Rose watched as Rallon and the Sister bickered over who would hold their daughter. Her husband was truly one of a kind and always made her laugh.

As the priest pointed towards Tuchesi Rose looked at her eldest daughter. "Poor thing is going to be dead to the world when my grandchildren arrive." Rose bowed her head in a moment of silence for the sweet man that risked his life for her aid.

"I feel horrible about his death. The man cared so much about the girls and I, and it cost him his life. Of course I would love to be there. Just send me a date and we will all be there." Rose smiled to the priest before continuing on. "Now, as to my reason for visiting, I just want to thank you so much for the offer and the assistance. The children would be in the best of hands with the sisters keeping watch and aiding in their lessons."

Rose turned, looking at her husband who was still with their daughter and the Sister. Rallon, what brings you here? I thought that you were working on the castle?"

The Sister saw the opportunity as Rallon, as always unable to ignore his bride, looked toward Rose, and stole the baby, cooing over her as alyssa blinked up at the newcomer.

Rallon growled but answered his bride. "We had some nobles claiming that Alyssa and David cannot hold title because they were not christened by a priest in the proper place. I came to sign documents that agreed to their being christened in our home, the good Father signed them to prove he did so in good faith and showed the prayer of consecration he performed over our home chapel, and sent it and the copies to the Archbishop, the Royal Recorder, Rome, the nobles in question, and made some for our records. Now gimme my baby!"

The Sister laughed and scooted away while Rallon chased her.

The priest laughed watching. "The date is the anniversary of. After dark. And as your husband said, no trouble just some holes to be plugged. You know how people are."

The sister came by and quick as a wink the priest swiped the baby from her. Alyssa blinked and cooed again patting his face, then spied her mother and squealed. "She truly is exceptionally beautiful." Rallon skidded to a stop and the priest smirked. "Despite her father."

Rallon grinned and tugged Rose into a kiss and a hug. "She gets her beauty from her mother. She got the fight from me though."

Alyssa squealed again, happy with all the attention as the four adults crowded about her.

Rose was, for but a moment, displeased with what the nobles were trying to do, and was glad that her husband was able to rectify the situation. She smiled once more as Rallon tried to seize their daughter once more even making Rose laugh.

The priest was swift indeed and he soon held their daughter. "Thank you." Rose, ever the humble one, blushed as red as the flora that she was named after with such compliments. However she never hesitated to show her love for her husband as he kissed her and she smiled even brighter.

Rose hugged onto her life long partner in crime and looked over at their daughter as she enjoyed and explored the priest with the sister peeking over his shoulder to get some attention from the wee one. "Well, my love, my work for the day is finished and I am starving, so the little one and I should be heading back unless you care to spend time with Alyssa, since you've been hogging my sweet Cynthia all day."

The priest tutted. "nonsense. You are guests in the House of God and He would insist i feed you. Sister is lunch ready?"

She nodded and He lead the Grangers, Rallon nudged Tuchesi who yawned and followed sleepily, to the garden where the sisters had laid out a very fine lunch. Rallon took the baby as she began to get fussy with all the noise, and after helping her mother sit, sat beside her and plopped Alyssa above his plate, leaning against a large pair of water pitchers he had filled for the purpose, then held her hands as the Father prayed.

Once the prayer was said the food was served. Rallon made sure Rose got large portions of everything she liked, then the wolves, then himself, while he had Alyssa busy gumming at sugar and milk soaked bits of bread.

The child cooed and squealed happily and the Sister's snickered. "She won't want to sleep after those treats."

Rallon smirked. "I'll tucker her out while her mother has a nap. It helps make sure the wee brat sleeps through the night. Isn't that right?"

Alyssa squealed and gurgled pawing at his face, then fell to playing a game of catching Daddy's fingers as he tickled her and ate.

Cynthia and Tuchesi had finished three full portions before finding sunny spots, laying on their backs, and falling deeply asleep. Even they knew that Rose and Rallon were perfectly safe here at the church. The food was well made and though rather plain compared to the often noble delicacies served under the Granger roof, it was very tasty and Rallon devoured five plates before stating himself sated, while Alyssa's energy surged had faded until she was dozing and drooling on herself, her little chin on her chest.

When the meal was finished Rallons tole a kiss from his wife. "You take Cynthia home. She needs a bath."

Cynthia growled.

"You do too. And Tuchesi needs a break from your attentions. He and Alyssa will come inspect the castle with me, but we will likely be home early. A whole wave of new architects, engineers, and artisans is to come in today and I need to interview them. You and Cynthia have a much needed nap then you handle your business and Alyssa will join you after she has helped me decide on who to hire. What say you my love?" his eyes glowed. Alyssa was clearly still well fed from earlier, and though she huffed upon being moved, she snuggled into Rallon's chest and back to sleep, clearly as cozy with him as her mother was.

Cynthia lay her head on her mother's lap, her own eyes tired, while Tuchesi slept on unconcerned. He would go where told.

It never took much to make Rose smile, and when food was offered up within the House of God it was no different. "Thank you." Watching Rallon hold their daughter's hands as they prayed was one of the most adorable sights that she had ever seen.

She laughed lightly as she watched her husband fill up her plate with more than enough for her to eat. Little Alyssa was thoroughly occupied and looking just as adorable as ever. Well Rose had not realized just how truly hungry she was and was surprised when she had eaten a little over half of her plate of food.

When the sister offered her a slice of pie, oh Rose was torn, but caved for a small slice. She relished a kiss sweeter than the pie that she had just demolished, from her husband. "Cynthia needs pampered and if you don't mind taking on the little one, then so be it." Rose pressed a kiss to Alyssa'a cheek as she slept upon her father's chest.

"You three have fun." Rose whispered before giving her thanks for the delicious food. With her dear sweet Cynthia at her side she was escorted back to her carriage where she encouraged her eldest to relax while Rose caressed at that soft coat. Upon arrival she had big bath prepped and she wasted no time in submerging herself and having Cynthia join her. Both her and Cynthia were so comfortable that they ended up taking a small nap. Only when the water cooled off did they get out.

Rose got dressed in a more comfortable gown while Cynthia continued to dry off with a quick shake. With that done she went to the garden where it was warm and the hammock was calling. There she laid with Cynthia at her side and they dozed off.

Rallon returned to the building site, Alyssa asleep in her little carrier on his chest, and slept well until her father was in the middle of discussing a construction point with a foreman. She gurgled happily but then grunted irritably as she wanted to see what all the noise was. Rallon turned her around and she spent the next two hours looking at everyone, squealing in delight at the smiles, waves, and interesting things she saw.

She also saw her black fur toy, but like always lately he was sleeping, even when she squealed at him.

Finally she began to get cranky and the loud noises was upsetting her, so her father, knowing the girl well already, having finished his work already. took them home.

First she got a diaper change as well as n outfit change, then she was taken to the garden where. yawning, she was placed on the hammock on her mother's chest, while Rallon slithered in under his bride's legs, and began to rub her feet and ankles as she slept, after Tuchesi lay on Rose's other side, serving as Alyssa's roll barriers.

Rose and Cynthia were thoroughly enjoying themselves within the sun and the breeze licking at their flesh. The sounds of the leaves rustling. The only thing that made it all the more sweeter was when her youngest daughter, son in law, and beloved husband joined in the moment.

Her sweet little bundle of joy took no time falling asleep against he warmth and comfort of her mother's bosom. The Lady of York had the best aid in falling back into her realm of slumber thanks to her husband who worked his magic upon her feet and ankles.

The family was certainly a sight to behold and it would be no surprise that the various caretakers and servants of their home would pass with a silent 'aww' or even fetch another person to take in the sight from afar. Even a few of the girls managed to stumble upon the sight before returning to their studies.

Rose had slept so soundly and was half awake and half asleep when her daughter decided to give her mother some assistance by grabbing Rose's nose. Rose smiled before she opened to eyes to the sight of those that mirrored hers staring back at her before a toothless grin spread upon her daughter's adorable face. "May I have my nose back, please?"

An adorable little laugh sounded before Rose instinctively pet her beloved Cynthia. Carefully, Rose sat up with the wee one in her lap and Tuchesi still showing off his sleeping skills with mother-to-be Cynthia just as well rested at her side. From the look of the setting sun, she had spent quite some time relaxing and felt a little guilty about it, but also didn't as she knew her husband would tell her that she had needed it.

"Did you have fun with your father?" She asked their daughter as the little one looked up at her mother with a look of 'awe'.

Rallon had drifted off sometime after his third of fourth full run over her legs and ankles, but woke the moment she did, her change in breathing altering the rhythms of the hammock. He had had to lay there a moment to be sure, then she had spoken and he smiled.

He then watched his ladies through half lidded eyes, but also began to gently stroke the soles of Rose's feet, and rub her hip with a toe.

"She was an utter beast and i say we feed her to Tuchesi."

Cynthia yawned herself awake, blinked bleerily at her mother and sister, looked at her father, huffed, then went back to sleep.

Rallon smirked and opened his eyes. "The young lady Granger was nearly as delightful as her mother, nearly as popular, though not even a fraction as beautiful. She had a grand time seeing everything and talking to everyone, and was shown many marvelous things she quite enjoyed. She did get very upset at the smells of some of the chemicals and such we use, but she got over it. She also wanted a worker to keep doing something she found highly entertaining but she got distracted before he or I could figure out what he had done so we let it go. Thus ends the report."

He grinned and prodded her with his toe. "She does remind even more of you. She is already bossy."

His eyes glinted playfully.

Rose laughed as her sweet husband suggested feeding their youngest to Tuchesi. Idly she stroked Cynthia's coat as her eldest fell back to sleep. Rose pressed a kiss to her littlest one's tiny hand. "Thank you for the report." Rose replied with a smile.

"Me?" She feigned a gasp. "Bossy? Please..." She scoffed before her guilty laughed slipped out knowing that Rallon was not far from the truth.

"Funny, her attention snagging demeanor reminds me of you." Oh she resembled her father more and more in her personality. She smiled at her husband and pressed a kiss to her daughter's chubby cheek which rewarded Rose with a toothless smile.

One lady in waiting approached the adorable sight. "My Lord, My Lady, please excuse the intrusion, but will you be taking dinner in the hall or would you care for us to bring it to the garden?" They needed to clean up and Rose wanted to feed her daughter before they headed to the dining hall. "We will join the girls in the hall." Rose replied as she sat up and handed the little one over to her father so that she could safely get out of the hammock.

"Cynthia and Tuchesi, you need to eat my loves." She spoke almost like a lullaby before taking her daughter back once more who looked so interested in her furry sister and brother in law.

He smirked watching her. He took the baby and helped Rose to stand, then rolled out of the hammock in one motion that Alyssa found delightful, squealing happily as he stood.

The wolves stood down, yawned, then went off to clear the hall before Rallon and Rose.

Rallon was tickling Alyssa. "I will point out that the only attention I truly seek is yours my darling. But i will not argue. Perhaps it would safe to say that she is the perfect union of our two souls?"

He leaned down and kissed his bride his eyes alight with love and desire, then he arched and eyebrow and looked down at Alyssa who had reached up and snagged his bottom lip and was seemingly attempting to rip it off his face.

He studied her for a moment then looked at Rose. His lip still restrained his voice was not altered, but slightly odd, and seemed, wetter as he began to drool. "She definitely gets that from you. You used to do that to the boys all the time. You never told me why you wanted to rip their lips off. Were they that bad when we were young?"

His lip movements also made him kiss the child's hand, making her squeal over and over. "The loudness she gets from your parents. And my mom. Though she also has my father's quiet anger sometimes too....andsh she likesh to be in charge. thats ush both." Alyssa had snagged his upper lips with her other hand at the too, forming a thick lisp, and an unconscious slur of her father's voice.

The effect made her squeal even louder and coo in delight at her new game.

Rose dawned that smile that was reserved for her precious husband and him only. "She certainly an amazing combination of us both, but I do know if I would say perfect? After all, she won't be the only child we have. Then again, perfection can take on various forms." Rose watched her daughter and couldn't stop smiling even if she wanted to.

The young girl was smitten with her father, just as much as Rose was. The little girl was certainly going to be a handful as she got older. "Her personality is as clear as day. Smart, beautiful, and it's going to be hard to find suitors brave enough to take on a girl who is guarded by wolves, let alone bares the name Granger in the first place."

Rose watched their daughter as she snagged her father's lips and the Lady of York could not help but laugh before she could answer his question. "You would want to rip their lips off too if all they were constantly puling your hair, or throwing things at you."

A young boy ran up to the noble couple and their daughters, and came to a screeching halt and the first sign of the eldest of the two daughters and their son-in-law. "Pardon me my Lord and Ladies, but I come baring a message from the Duchess Elator of Brusswick and Geenfield Milord." The child was still bowing with a hand out with the letter. He was clearly so busy trying to catch his breath that he forgot to stand upright.

"My Great Aunt? I'm surprised that she knows that I exist. I mean... she added a lovely sum to my dowry when I was but a few years old, but that's all that I've every heard of her. Have you been speaking to her?" Rose asked Rallon before she kissed her precious Alyssa who was interested in the messenger boy to the point that she released her father's lip.

Tuchesi opened an eye, huffed at the newcomer, then went back to sleep. Cynthia slept on, secure in her safety, though her ears did flick at his approach.

Rallon blinked at the messenger's arrival, then shook his head at his wife's question, carefully wiping his mouth clean with a hankerchief.

"I did send her an invitation to the wedding and other events of course, but more so because she is family. i don't even remember her."

Alyssa, recalled to her game by his voice, grabbed both lips in one hand this time. Rallon sighed and spoke through the edge of his mouth. "Perhap she would like to come visit? or us to come visit her?"

He shrugged and Alyssa giggled as the movement brought her close enough to also allow her to snag his left eyebrow. She couldn't hold a good enough grip to pull it so she just held on.

Rallon chuckled. "you will either have to read the message or wait for the boy to catch his breath and read it for us. Young Lady Granger has decided to relieve me of senses."

Alyssa gave a sharp squeal. "Neh!"

Again Rose laugh at their youngest daughter's antics with her father. Her warm gaze looked to the lad with a humble smile. "I'll take that." The boy handed Lady Granger the message and took a minute to smile at the baby girl tugging at the intimidating Lord Granger's lip. The Lord of York was rumored to be a fierce man and ruthless, but the young boy could hardly believe that this was that man. With a swift boy he was off.

The wax seal was removed and a look of surprise consumed her face as she read the contents of the message. "Wow. She is coming for a visit. She says that she looks forwards to meeting us. It will take some time for her to make the venture, but wow. I'm genuinely surprised and suddenly rather nervous." This was a very important person.

Rose hadn't felt this way since she first got to meet Her Majesty and if it weren't for Rallon telling her to just be herself, then Rose would have been an absolute puddle of nerves. Rose groaned and dropped the message in her lap. "You know that I am going to be nervous until she finally gets here. She is a very prominent member of this family."

Fisher happened by with baby David in his arms. The mighty knight look rather adorable with his baby boy. Instantly he recognized the look upon his Lady's face. "Is all well?" Fisher asked as he approached the noble family.

"Well, My Great Aunt is coming, so you tell me." Fisher looked to Rollan with a silent questioning as to where this was a quiz or not.

"And that... is....bad?" Fisher innocently asked as he bounced David in his arms who seemed more interested in staring at what Alyssa was up to.

Rallon sighed.

Then shoved their daughter into Rose's arms. "You. Tiny. Distract your mother."

Alyssa giggled, flung her arms about her mother's neck, and gave her a wet sloppy kiss, then squealed.

Rallon then gently cradled her lovely face with both hands. "My love she is coming for a visit. Not to inspect us for the Pope. She wants to meet the Ladies Granger. And likely to meet your husband." He kissed her lips softly, holding her eyes with his own. "You are Rose Granger. The beautiful, noble, and beloved Lady of York. A well known, respected and adored personage throughout the land. You are a lady of honor and renown, a mother of impeccable ability, a wife unrivaled, and so much more."

He kissed her once again. "There is no need for nerves or fear my darling. She has come to visit family. We shall welcome her with all the love and delight we are capable of, and she will be graced and charmed by our home and family, both of which are entirely due to your endurance, skills, and ability."

He ran a finger along her cheek. "You are Rose. The lady who withstood violence, hatred, murder and much more to save this family. I refuse to believe you will allow a visit from a family member to upset you."

Alyssa squealed and hugged her mother again.

A wet little kiss was pressed to her cheek as the wee baby Alyssa was handed to her. Rose took a bit of a deep breath as her scholarly husband comforted her. She relinquished her sigh just before he finished and their daughter rounded off her father's speech with an agreeing squeal and a sweet hug. "Sometimes I do hate it when you're right." She said with a lax smile and another soft sigh. Fisher was smiling and held his son facing everyone and little David pointed a tiny finger at Alyssa and yelled "Da!" Alyssa smiled her sweet smile, looking at her friend.

"So be it, my dear. What is there not to love about our sweet family?" She hugged her precious daughter before holding her out to David where both were exchanging some adorable baby babble. Alyssa seemed determined to get the last word and said a string of babble fairly loud and long before looking at her father as though she needed a confirmation to something.

Rose laughed and smiled at her independent little flower as she figuratively put her foot down on whatever they were talking about. "Such a lady," Rose teased causing her daughter to furrow her barely visible brows.

Such an adorable face broke into a yawn. "Ahhh... looks like your time with daddy is finally catching up with you. Someone is tired." Rose softly whispered though her daughter tried to fight the sleepy spell.

"Of course you are right my love. Just like your mother."

he kissed her forehead. "listen to her young David. It's safer."

he kissed Rose once again. "Off for a well earned nap my love?"

His eyes studied her face carefully. As always her safety and well bearing were his first thoughts.

His eyes gave a glow as he leaned in and kissed her once again. "Or am i to be sent to my room to put the youngest Lady Granger to bed?"

Alyssa yawned again then lay her cheek on his chest closing her eyes.

Smirking Rallon stroked her head. Then his eyes cut to his bride. "Oi. you. Light of life and reason for my existence. No panicking or getting overwrought about this visit."

He leaned in and kissed her cheek, then surreptiously nibbled her ear. "If you start worrying yourself then I shall have to keep you up all night." He kissed her neck lovingly, then took the letter. "Cynthia?"

The wolf looking beast opened an eye. "keep an eye on your mother. If she starts getting frantic sit in her lap."

Cynthia huffed and closed her her eye again. Rallon nodded, kissed his bride then took Rose up to the bedroom so she could catch a nap.

Tuchesi suddenly rolled over, stretched, then stood, shook himself, and walked, rather stiffly, over to Rose, sat beside her and lay his large head on her lap.

It seemed as though their sweet and very vocal daughter had made the decision for them as she began relaxing upon her father. "Such a daddy's girl." Rose whispered softy as her husband showered her in kisses.

"I promise to relax on the matter. I promise." A sweet smile sat on the Lady's lips as she watched her charming and ever loving husband escorted their precious daughter to a room for a nap.

A little laugh escaped her lips as Tuchesi made himself comfortable upon her lap and Rose enjoyed feeling his glorious fur coat. While she tried to relax she was curious as to what her Great Aunt was like.

What was their not to love about her family. Many would say how caring, brave, and brilliant the Lady of York was. All Rose ever considered herself was blessed. The warmth was comforting and it almost caused her to nod off as well.

Tuchesi growled and it caused his mother to open her eyes to look down upon the dog with his head still in her lap and eyes shut with his lips raised and showing off an impressive and imposing set of teeth. The Lady of York looked over her shoulder to find a young gentleman watching her from behind. "It's not wise to sneak upon a Granger and not announce yourself. You could have very well gotten yourself killed." She stated in a 'matter of fact' kind of manner.

"May I help you?" She casually replied as a soft hand caressed at the top of her precious pups while he remained on guard.

"Y-y-y-y-yes, m-ma'am, I mean - My Lady - I am Randall and I am new in the round of guard, you see....and.... I was sent to tell you that there is a lady requesting your presence. She claims to be a childhood friend. A Georgianna Croswell."

Rose had to think on it for a moment but there was a young girl known as Gigi who had one serious crush on Rallon when they were younger. The girl went as far as to even have names ready for their children. Rose being the sweet and kind girl that she was did not have the heart to tell the girl that Rose too had feelings for Rallon.

The Grangers picked on the golden haired girl just as much as they picked on Rose, but Gigi instigated problems with the boy just for the chance to get Rallon to come save her.

Georgianna was the daughter of a powerful business man and he took his dealings elsewhere when the girls were around ten. The rather round girl was whisked off to foreign lands and forced to leave her crush and dear friend behind. Rose was rather excited and curious to see what had changed. "Help me up please."

The nervous man helped her to her feet like she was a delicate flower and her fuzzy but children followed in her footsteps.

What awaited her was quite the surprise. A golden hair gorgeous woman no where near as round and thick as the girl she once knew. "Oh my word, Georgianna?" Clearly the reaction was what the other woman expected as she smiled and opened her arms wide. "Rose Granger!!?? You thief." With a smile such as that one could only assumed that the woman was joking.

The hallway outside of one of their parlor rooms filled with cheers of shock, surprise, and awe.

Rallon put Alyssa down and tucked her in, making sure she was well situated, then had a maid take up her sewing nearby in case the young Lady Granger woke early.

He was just exiting the bedroom, stretching and yawning when the sound of his wife's delighted voice and laughter reached his ears. He smiled, but now curious he followed the sound to the parlor, knocking first, then entered.

Cynthia and Tuchesi both looked up with eager eyes at his entrance and he smiled noting how even though Rose was clearly safe and happy they had positioned themselves at an angle and between their mother and the newcomer.

He went first to his bride and kissed her lovingly. "I do apologize for intruding my love. Who is your most charming guest?"

His eyes had flicked over the woman, but it was clear that all her beauty affected him not at all, and the compliment was merely courtesy. One of the servants was approaching with a tray of drinks as Rallon waited patiently for her reply, his right hand on her back, softly caressing, his left coming up to collect the glasses from the tray with a thank you.

Cynthia was watching her father carefully now. She didn't know this new woman. Mommy seemed to like her but Mommy might be pretending. So she waited and watched, ready to protect her family.

Rallon made sure to give the guest her drink first, then stole a sip from his bride's glass and wrinkled his nose. "What is this my love?"

Rose was all smiles, but that was because she was genuinely happy to see an old friend. However, she was aware that time did not stand still and things, and people, did change with time. Rose herself changed somewhat, for the better, but that was not always the case for everyone.

When the knocked sounded upon the door, Rose graciously chimed, "Come in." In such a sweet a melodious tone that shook some envious memories out of her new guest. Georgianna's deep brown eyes looked from Rose to the door with high hopes that were achieved and rewarded it with a bright white smile.

"I see you managed to escape the clutches of our daughter." Rose loved to tease as they all knew that the wee Lady Granger had everyone wrapped around her dainty little finger. "Perfect timing though, I almost didn't recognize her myself... it's Georgianna, from when we were younger." While Rose knew the formerly fluffy girl who had eyes for only Rallon, she wasn't entirely sure if the Lord of York even knew about how smitten the blonde girl had been with him.

"My Lord, surely you have not forgotten me, after how often you helped me escape the mean things your brothers did."

Rose laughed lightly. "You often started it, 'GiGi', to get his attention, no less." Their guest gawked and looked over her shoulder at Rose.

"I would never...." Again Rose laughed.

"Oh yes... you would." Rose once again spoke out with her unwaveringly sweet smile as she looked up at her husband. " And that is sage water, my dear. I've been drinking it since I was pregnant and I haven't stopped."

"Oh that's right! You have a baby girl, no? I'm sorry." Rose looked baffled for a moment. "Why do you apologize?"
"Well, your first child wasn't a boy."
"No and that is no problem in this family, merely another blessing. Boy or girl, she is the first of our children and it makes her no less important. Rallon adores her as do we all."

Even as an a adult, given their time apart, Georgianna was rather surprised to find a woman of Rose's title speaking in such a manner and in the company of her Lord husband, no less. It was truly a near mythical thing, their relationship.

"Aww... that's sweet." Their guest replied as she sipped the contents of her glass. "Well, My Lord, how are you fairing? Just as handsome as ever, I see."

Rallon blinked at Rose's accusation of the newcomer, studied her for a moment then looked away, clearly not struck by a memory.

He stroked Rose's neck now smiling as he took another sip of her drink. "I see. It's... interesting."

Only Rose felt the slight twitch of his muscles at the newcomer's words about their daughter. But he smiled. "Alyssa Granger will be raised to be a Lady of great skill and renown. Like her mother. Her gender has nothing whatsoever to do with her place or her future."

He leaned down and kissed Rose softly before answering the question. "i am well. but I have recalled business I must attend to. Good afternoon ladies. Georgianna please feel free to stay and have dinner with us if you wish. We would be delighted to have you." His voice was calm and warm, but it held none of his usual charm.

Her fawning was annoying him, and her 'sorrow' at his daughter's gender had made him wary. He gave a bow and swept from the room without looking back, though Tuchesi and Cynthia both watched him go.

When he had left Cynthia stood and stretched, then moved to her mother and rubbed her jaw against her hip before sitting, her tail to the newcomer. Daddy didn't like her. neither would she.

Tuchesi yawned and rolled somewhat, now fully between Rose and Georgianna. They did this all at once, seeming just dogs needing to move. but they were on alert. Fully in protective mode about the Lady Granger.

Rose laughed at her husband's reaction to the beverage. she'd have been surprised if he liked it as she wasn't too fond of it when first introduced to the concoction during her pregnancy. The midwives insisted that it would ease the unpleasant side effects and make them more tolerable, and they were not kidding.

Rose laughed lightly at her husband's reaction to the drinks that she chose. It was a concoction she had been told to drink to ease the symptoms of her pregnancy and she hadn't stopped drinking it. "Thank you." His touch was kind and comforting.

Honestly, Rose tried to hide her slight laughter after Rallon dismissed himself, but it was to no avail.

"What is so funny?" Their guest asked.

"You always did leave a bad taste in his mouth." It was clearly a surprise to hear the Lady of York say such a thing to a friend.

"W-What do you mean?" With a defensive tone, clear as day.

"You and Rallon have such different point of views. You always did, but regardless of whether or not you instigated the Granger boys to harass you, Rallon was not one to sit by and watch it ensue. He was your knight in shining armor."

This was where Rose casually took a sip of her drink before continuing on. "By the way, congratulations on your marriage to the Earl of Manchester, may your marriage be blessed with love, joy, and laughter for all the years to come."

Rose seemed to have walked into rocky waters with the girl as Rose knew that the Earl was kind and a bit of an oddball at times. "Thank you. Well, I just wanted to see how your were fairing and I absolutely love how things are fairing."

With that Rose was gifted a kiss upon the cheek and she was escorted out.

With a sigh the Lady of York sat in silence and pondered how time effected so many things and how change was inevitable. From there she though of the upcoming visit from her Great Aunt, and that was enough to get her back upon her feet and back to her paperwork in her office.

Or try to.

When she got to the office door her husband appeared and whisked her away, ignoring her protests, taking her up to her balcony. "you my darling need to see this."

He sat her down, kissed her, then tapped her seat. "if you move before i return I am going to give back your birthday present." he grinned at the empty threat and kissed her again, then let her be.

Cynthia and Tuchesi had followed her of course, and they shifted to snuggled her legs, Tuchesi finding a space between her ankles and her seat while Cynthia lay on her feet.

Alyssa had woken while her mother was with her guest and was now down in the garden playing with Fisher and his own child, her happy little laughter wafting up to Rose like sweetest music.

Rallon returned bearing a large pitcher and poured two glasses full of a red mixture then sat beside her, his legs finding a space between the dogs.

He kissed Rose before she could ask, then pressed the glass into her hand and tapped it's side with his own. Then he gestured as the sun struck off the construction sight and the glass of the catherdral at once, creating a glorious sunspot effect that though bright was now blinding and very soothing and pleasing, while also breathtakingly beautiful.

Rallon kissed her neck softly. "To you my love. I saw this for a moment yesterday and just knew I had to share it with you. The drink is just tea with some of your concoction mixed in. The cook says its very good."

he took a sip and considered. "And she is correct. but it still needs something."

His free hand had stolen into Rose's as he considered. He was between her and the door and his intent could not be more clear. He was stealing her time because she was the most important thing in his life.

Rose was taken by surprise when she was seized by her husband. "Rallon Granger, you know that I have work to tend to, and it's been piling up non stop and..."

She saved her breath. Her dear husband was determined to see this mission through and she honestly didn't mind the break. With a little laugh, she sat down and remained put and waited for her husband's return.

"My dears, what is he up to?" She questioned her fuzzy children before admiring the sound of her youngest and her company having fun. Before she knew it, the love of her life had returned and she was curious as to the concoction, but after the cheers, she sipped its contents and found it to be quite delicious.

"Wow, it is better than my previous drink, but what would you think is missing?" She asked as she looked at the gorgeous sight and accepted that she was most likely going to call it a day with paperwork and end things on this gorgeous note.

The sight was certainly one in a million and the admiration could be read in her very eyes. His kiss widened her smile even more and it engulfed her in warmth. She squeezed his hand a tad and enjoyed herself. "Rallon Granger." She sighed with her eyes still upon the gorgeous sight before she looked at the man that held her heart in the palm of his hand. "It's beautiful." She simply replied before taking another sip of her new favorite beverage.
