Pokemon or digimon

Im a Digimon fan, and a pokemon fan, but I happen to think that the pokemon show sucked ass.
So lets see.
Only consider the cartoons.....no games or cards or toys.
Just pure story that the shows gave, animation, backstory, all that crap.
Which was better and why?
The very first seasons. if anyone remembers those.

I LOVE the pokemon games but as far as plot goes, Digimon kicked pokemon's ass.
