A fifty seven year old state police officer living in Queens New York was one of the officers called in to work the day a neighbor reported suspicious sightings and possible dumping of dead bodies. On their investigation they found what was said the truth. A man by the name George Harrison had lost his wife five years ago to cancer. He was an inelegant man and thought he could clone a healthier version of his wife. Twelve women died before reaching their awakening and were buried in the garden. One however had still yet to be awakened and was found by the old officer floating in a container of blue liquid. Hours were spent trying to decide what to do with the girl until she was accidentally awakened by a rookie officer. She was afraid at first, and couldn't communicate all to well but John Palmer, the state officers was comforting to her, he clothed and fed the woman and in the end a decision was made that he would care for her. The woman developed an affection that one would have for a father. She was then named by him Avery Palmer.

Months passed and she was taught many things by the man. Reading was most important though. With the ability to read, she was able to learn things that John couldn't teach her, or in some cases wouldn't. Avery spent a lot of time reading, it was the only way she felt she was able to form her own conclusion on things like justice or love, by taking other peoples thoughts and feelings and sorting them out with her own reason. Avery and John didn't see eye to eye on many topics, especially what is justice. John, being apart of the system, believed that those who have done wrong will be caught, prosecuted, and serve their time, while she felt criminals were punished too lightly an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth was and idea she found quite pleasing.

One day she was heading to the convenience store to get some bread so that she may surprise John with french toast for dinner that night when she heard a scream and a screech of tires. A woman in heels had tried to cross a busy street quickly to get to work and tripped while a car was trying to making it before the red light. Avery knew she was fast and strong but it showed on that day when she ran between the woman and the car, picking it up by the front bumper and setting it down when the tires stopped turning. Thus starting her career as a heroine, sadly forgetting the bread.

Crime has been rapidly escalating and she began to fight bigger criminals. From petty thieves to hostage taking bank robbers all of them were no match against her powers which seemed unstoppable. She had a tendency that went unnoticed to batter the criminals before handing them over to the police. The worst their crimes the more injuries they received. No one but the man she called father dared to call her out on her actions. She considered herself an improvement to the justice system and there were others who agreed.

Criminals were typically easy for her to take care of but that couldn't be the case forever. It was almost a year after her awakening in which she finally met someone who could compete with her. Avery was out looking for a job at the time. She was a full time super hero but that didn't pay the bills. She applied at a few places but haven't heard from them. She wrote on her application her available hours, that being whenever all the time unless a crime is taking place, that didn't seem to smooth over with anyone too well except for the old maid running the florist shop on twenty ninth. She sighed, working as a paid officer like her father would be nice, but Avery really didn't want to take the time to go to school for that or have to read anyone their rights when taking them in.
