Doomed City

Night fell soon and the ceremonies were none stop, she eventually came down and was in her hut most of the time before the fires were lit and she was cooking dinner for herself inside, she came out letting it cook and looked from the crowd at the ceremonies leaning against a beam by her home and rubbing her cold arms as she reached in and grabbed a blanket, she looked around the crowd wondering if she would spot Jerakath or not and if he did take her up on her offer to eat and take shelter in her home she had a room ready for him and the thought of a bed made her yawn slowly before walking back into her home to check on the food.

Jerakath chose to take his chances during the ceremonies to find Charis. Hoping to be overlooked in the crowds he was not very successful in doing so but the fear he had caused was still enough to keep people out of his way, he was not some tourist attraction yet. He searched his memories for where the little girls house had been having walked her back home many times, long ago. Eventually finding it, he decided to wait outside and look upon the crowd, waiting for her to return from the ceremonies he was sure she was part of. The crowd seemed very lively, and Nathan wondered how it was, that humans praised the gods. He had only one way to do so and thus he was here, to do just that.

She finished cooking enough for two and set them out on plates before looking up and seeing odd feet by her door, she got up with the blanket wrapped around her and walked over to her door bringing the door cover back to see him, she smiled and tapped his shoulder before standing back to let him in if thats what he was here for, she meant what she said when she said she wasn't scared of him, she really wasn't and that was probably going to scare her friends and family that she was housing him.

At the tap on his shoulder, Jerakath looked backwards. Seeing that it was Charis, now moving to let him in, he nodded entering. Looking around the hut, he could smell some sort of food. The humans ate such weird things, in this land. It was hard to imagine they were the favored by the gods. As he walked in he never spoke a word just finding a corner to stand by that had a view of the crowd out side, making sure to go out of sight if someone looked into the window. He had no wish to draw attention to his new location. He despised mass crowds.

She looked at him and watched him for a moment before moving back to her letting spot on the floor and sat down picking up the dish and eating slowly, she stayed quiet knowing that was what he wanted, and by the crowd outside she didn't want to speak just yet, she would wait until they cleared, you would think they would give it a rest and start again tomorrow but they were doing this tonight and so on and so forth until a new one was born, she yawned softly and got up occasionally to go in the other room and come back with a pile of sticks to fuel the little fire she had.

He sat there for long moments looking back every now and then, but mostly observing the crowd. They seemed like fanatics about the gods, now. A great change from the earlier city he looked at. The third time he looked back at her, he noticed she was trying to gather wood to keep her decrepit fire going. Taking pity upon the poor girl he walked over to her. "I could help. It would be far better than this poor thing. If that is what you wished." He looked at her with his one eye, the fire emphasizing his red iris.

She heard him speak and looked up at him when he came over, she smiled at him and shook her head " no, im just gonna let it die down, but if you are staying up then you can keep it going, i am rather tired" she said and stood slowly shedding the blanket and folding it easily setting it down " when you want to sleep... if you sleep, there is a room next to mine that you are welcome to" she said and smiled at him before leaning over and kissing his cheek again " good night " she said and walked away from him again and towards her room disappearing from sight, she shed her heavier clothing and left her in just a thick tub top and little bikini bottoms, she normally slept like this so it wasn't because of him, she climbed in her low lying bed and soon snuggled up with her pillow covering herself with a blanket and gazing out the window trying to fall asleep.

Jerakath nodded, this time forced himself to act natural as she showed affection. He must remain separated from his work. The thought of getting attached to a human, would compromise his judgment, and his very existence. He walked back over to the window, looking upon the crowd again. It was becoming rather late, and the people seemed to care little. He wondered how long the people would be able to last. It wasn't long after that, when the crowd started to, seemingly dissolve. By the time the sun rose, there were a few bands of stragglers, among the mess the people had left. Now was when his work would really begin. He made sure that Charis's family did not see him as they came in, half asleep during the night. Now silently walking around, looking for something to cover him, during the day, as he walked around inspecting the cities doings.

There weren't many people out this bright morning because of the late night they all had and it soon dragged out to early afternoon before she emerged with a dark cloak in had and gazed around looking for him, she moved forward and walked around the somewhat empty streets watching for him, she had hoped she would run into him, but no such luck as she circled the small part of her city, she frowned slightly and went to the garden to meditate for a little while.
