Dagon sat upon a rock, staring out over the realm his people called home. The land was cracked and dry, even though it rained frequently. Even right up to rivers and lakes, the reddish earth seemed like an unquenchable desert. His dark, leathery wings hung lazily at his sides, slightly dragging on the ground. His bright red eyes scanned the horizon, a soft sigh escaping his lips. He hated this dreary place, and longed for the home of his childhood. For almost fifteen years, he had lived in a beautiful, perfect place. He had spent those fifteen years in the land of the Angels, never knowing he wasn't one of them until his tail and horns started to grow. Though there had always been differences between him and the others. They had all seemed way too eager to accept authority and obey those above them. Dagon had always had a more individualistic personality and questioning nature.

And now, in the realm of demons, he still didn't fit. He didn't have the cruel nature of his "brothers." Nor did he have the desire to kill, rape, and crush the angels that most of his kind seemed obsessed with. He looked down at himself, lightly reddened skin didn't even fit with either species. The angels had their fair skin and the demons dark red or black. He had no idea why he was so different from both species, as he had never known either of his parents. So he didn't know one was an angel and the other a demon, both put to death shortly after his birth for being "traitors to their species". He slid some of his long black hair away from his face, wincing as some was again caught on his horns. The long ebony growths curved upward from his forehead, getting just a little bit longer each and ever day. And his damn hair got caught in them more often than he'd like to admit. Human, angel, or demon, it still hurt when hair got forcefully pulled from your scalp.

At least on this rock, in the middle of nowhere, he could be alone. He could be alone and think. And more often than not, his thoughts drifted to HER. The girl he had grown up with and who he longed to see again. He had always loved her, even when they were just little. Even among angels there was something.... [/i]special about her. Something even more divine and graceful than the others of the species was known for. And ever time she had smiled at him, his heart had skipped. Dagon hung his head, letting his hair spill over his face as he reminisced about her. He wondered if he would ever get to see her again. And if he did, would they be forced to be enemies?

The air was pure, the skies clear and mellow. Not even the sun could outshine the unalloyed light that consumed the Angel's 'spiritual space'. Where no defiance was ever to come, each and every person for another, God's truth never questioned. In a world of Angel's only the best of thing's could happen. That changed when a cross-breed was born between Demon's and Angel's, and both woirld's fell apart, never able to recover from such blasphemy. That was the start to a current on-going war between Angel's and Demon's, even after the inconcievable happened and peace was found between the two - No more.

Celestia was one of those Angel's, and lived in said peaceful realm where all was pleasent. In human year's you'd say Celestia was 'turning into a woman', but to Angel's the aging years were yet to dawn upon her. She was a beauty, as most Angel's were, if only in her own unique way. Her hair grew Silver like her Mother's, rare in the Angel world as most were blonde. The locks were endless, falling down her shoulders and back in waves softer than what you'd find on the bed of an ocean. Her skin was fair with a very milky complexion, one to be envied by any human woman. Although, with her parents neither having very dominant genes, she developed Heterochromia growing up. One eye was prominently ice blue, while the other was a very light grey, almost white, with specks of a darker blue around the outside of her cornea. Still, outstandingly beautiful.

I will never belong.. She thought to herself, sighing as she looked upon the never-changing skies, hoping for something, or someone to come along and take her away, or at least give her the childhood she so misses back. Growing up, she was mostly influenced by a beloved friend of her's, Dagon, he had always been different to other Angel's, but she loved that, and reflected on it, and now she was older she had that same, stubborn attitude. Although it was hard for her to deny her Angelic nature, she still had aspects of her friend. He was taken away from her around the time they were coming of age, she'd never felt so heartbroken in her life, he was the only true friend she'd ever really had. One day, she'd have a plan to steal him back, somehow, but who knows, by now he could just hold pure hatred toward her. Tears welling in her eyes just by the thought of it.

Celestia, stop daudling, we all have duties!

An elder called out to her, she was supposed to be 'preparing' for the attack. With the on-going war between the two very different world's, often Demon's were sent over to throw attack's on their world, just as they did them, however using tactics more peaceful than their's. Many times she had tried to sneak away with the other Demon's when they retreated but never successful, if she were to see her friend again, surely it would of happened by now. All she could do was what the other's asked of her, and that's all she'd be doing for the rest of her life, seemingly alone.

Dagon could hear the cackling and the battle cries on the wind. The demons were already aware of the angels' intent to attack. He sighed and leaned his head. He had been told that if he wouldn't take part in the next battle, he would not live past it. He hadn't taken part on any defensive or offensive skirmishes, and the higher ranking demons had taken notice. Mostly, he didn't want to hurt Celestia. He didn't want to take even the smallest chance of having to see her and having to raise a sword against her. If such a thing happened, he was fully prepared to just let her take his life. After all, he did love her. So much so he would give his own life rather than fight her. After a moment of sitting on his rock, readying himself for death.

Once he had steeled himself and calmed his shaking hands, he slowly stood up, his 6'6'' frame was a slightly intimidating sight, even to most other demons. The wings that had been lazily hanging at his sides no tensed and stretched, an impressive span that when fully unfolded, was a wider span than the heigth of his body. With a few powerful flaps, he was in the air, moving quickly toward the staging area where they would mount their defense. The feeling of flying through the air may have been exhilirating, but Dagon seldom did it. He hated his wings. He hated his black, pointed tail. He hated the horns that grew from his head. They had taken him away from her, so he wished they had just never emerged. When he thought about it at any real length, he hated what he was. Maybe that had been different if he hadn't known anything besides the life of a demon, but he had had a taste of something much different. Much better. And he wanted it back. Even if he couldn't live amongst the angels anymore, he wanted so desperately to just be close to the one friend he had.

The closer he flew to the staging area, the more little dots there were on the ground. Demons that had no wings that were simply walking to the battle. Once Dagon was over the are, he let himself descend slowly, looking around to see the others preparing for battle. It wasn't long before a high ranking demon had shoved two swords and sheathes into his hands. The black, glistening obsidian-like metal that only existed in the realm of demons kept its edge longer than even ceramic, and was far more durable than steel. Dagon tied one of the blades on his hip and one on his back, which was how he had found was the most comfortable for him during training.

Once again his hands began to shake as they awaited the attack. Celestia's sweet face flooded Dagon's memory, and with those memories came tears down his cheeks. If he crossed her path, these would be the last moments of his life. If he saw another demon trying to kill her, it would also be the last moments of his life, because he would kill any demon that tried to harm her. Now that his intent and focus was once again clear, his hands stopped shaking. He opened his eyes and looked to the sky. In a low, almost whispered voice, he said "I'm ready. This is it."

Taking her time, Celestia refused to stop with her 'daudling', as she was in no rush to fight against anyone, nor would she be in future. Not for one second averting her eyes from the flocks of clouds, the white so pure a Demon would feel anguish by even catching a glimpse. "I guess, I must go.." She sighed in disgruntlement, her fingers catching between the wrinklets in her hair to clear her sight. Arising, her wings full against her back, reflecting the light in a grey-pastel colour, nothing like feather's, or even clouds, such ways people would usually describe. Still beautiful, graceful, soft to touch, the feeling of comfort and promise. She suffered great damage to her left wing during her last attempt to escape when a Demon caught onto her and took a blow at her with his sword. Fully healed, her body still moved off-blanace when she flew.

The walk she ventured on was quite distant, still irresolute to use her wing's, and only ever did in dire circumstances. It became impossible with age for her to get away with the childish excuses she babbled on about in not using her wing's during battle. The elder's felt no pity on her, for it was her own wishes to attempt escape in the first place.

With her presence late, on arrival her 'weaponry' was forced upon her, unknowing of how, or either when the Demon's were going to invade, soon at least. As Angel's didn't believe in true harm, they used Aluminium Carbon reflex bows that deemed any evil being paralyzed for a lengthy period of time, no more than 24 hours, but the out-come varied. Recently some Demon's had become acustomed to the attack's and created more potent shield's to protect themselves against the arrow. However, Angel's still had their source of power within them, using angelic force and protection on one another, still, never for harm upon another.

Before she had much more time to prepare herself, she was rushed into the rest of the crowd, her wing's instinctively extending and lifting her into the air amongst the other's her age. Her body began waving around uncontrollably at first due to her un-balance, but she soon regained dominance over them.

Far ahead the skies were furiously darkening with the approach of the Demon's, still greatly hesitant to fight in ever knowing she may harm her beloved childhood friend. Her wing's flapped more ferociously, pushing her way through everyone till all was in view. It almost looked as if one huge, black cloud was consuming the sky, moving at a furious pace. This is it she thought to herself, her eyes glazing over. It weren't long before the two 'armies' came to halt, face to face with one another. Now, the wait, who would attack first?

Still, she eagerly scanned along the front-line of Demon's, hoping to see her friend again, even if before death, she'd know at least he lived without the torture or true death they had threatened him with.

Dagon took to the sky, his leathery wings again flapping powerfully. He saw his old brethren, ready to attack. For all their talk of love and not hating anything, he could see the contempt and loathing in their eyes. Looks like it's okay to hate as long as it's just demons. He sighed as he maintained a hover, staring up at the angels. There were a few familiar faces among them, but if Celestia was here, he couldn't see her. "Please don't be here" He muttered softly, tightening his grip on the hilt of the sheathed blade on his hip.

He saw a glint in the light, fast approaching him. The Angels thought all their arrows did was paralyze temporarily, but the magic was like poison. The Demon would die just a day or two later if they got hit with one straight on with several. The magic just couldn't be dispelled if there was that much wreaking havoc on a Demon. And Dagon had no armor. He was too young and too low rank to be important enough to be given armor. In the flash of a second, his blade was unsheathed and deflecting the arrow. It made a sickening pinging noise before it started falling back down to the ground. The first attack had been launched, and it was his duty to launch the offensive on behalf of the Demon's. He didn't want to, but he didn't want to lose his life either. With one powerful thrust, he launched himself into the hoard of angels. In a single stroke, he spun forward, drawing his other blade, and cut off the right wing of one angel, sending him down to the ground below where the flightless demons would be waiting to rip him apart.

With both blades drawn, he kept his eyes on their faces as he cut through them. If he saw her face he would stop, and let her finish him. The rest of the angels would have to fight and meet his blades, though. His training seemed to have paid off, since none of them had thus far posed any real threat. He felt the nick of a blade against his thigh, though, and he turned toward his oppenent. He noted the face before running his blad through the neck, causing the head to fall free from the body, and both parts started crashing to the ground.

Their blades could do the same as their arrows, but thankfully it was just a nick. Although his leg had become paralyzed, at least it was only for awhile. As he cut his swathe through them, he finally saw the familiar face. This was it. "Celestia...." His arms dropped from his battle pose to his sides, an obvious display that he did not plan to attack her.

Pull, wait.... Go. Within seconds there was blood shed in the world that was so much known for it's peace. Body's were crashing down from either side, looking as if there were a meteor shower taking place. It was in no case that Celestia had enough time to pull arrow's from the holster strapped beneath her dainty, white robe, being forced to use her protection shield as their 'powers' could never be used to heavily harm any being, even those who deserved it. Her force weekend with each blow she took, her wing's embracing her body as she equipped an arrow into the bow, her aim always perfect, with the desire to pierce the curve of a Demon's neck, she watched the evil being drop his sword, his body visibly becoming limp before crashing into the ground with his other brethering, as well as her own.

"Stop!" She yelped, her wing's flapping furiously with great speed toward's a younger Angel who had intentions of trying to wield a Demon's sword. She placed her palm's together, her finger's spread, a faint light emitting from between her hand's, the sword soon shattered into pieces, her body taking a stiff turn upwards before almost crashing into the ground herself. If an Angel were to pick up a Demon's sword, it was likely that possession would take place, the younger the Angel, the more likely for it to happen, the consequences were always fatal. A sword was easy to destroy when not in the hand's of a demon as it render's the the weapon powerless in it's self.

Great rage and anger burned through Celestia's eyes, why did such thing's have to come? If Angel's were so full-hearted and peaceful then the war would not be taking place. The death of the young constantly mourned while the elder's watch, those who have lived great lives should of been the ones to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. She snatched another arrow from her holster, equpping it once more and aiming for the first Demon in sight, her wing's uncovered her face, only to be left in shock. She had already released the arrow, heading straight on for her friend Dagon, the one person's friendship whom she'd longed for the moment he'd been taken away.

"Dagon.." She whispered beneath her breath, watching the arrow skim his face, flying past him with the luck of missing from lack of concentration. But how could she concentrate after seeing his face? But should she even attack? It didn't look as if he would attack her, or was that just a distraction? She charged at him, first her arms, then her wing's wrapping around his full build and taking him down to the ground to disguise this as an attack.

"I thought you were dead." She huffed, point blank, her arms and her wing's still with their hold on him, although this 'disguise' wouldn't be much for very long.

Since his arms would be concealed by her wings, Dagon wrapped his arms around Celestia. He held her tight against him, in the back of his mind he realized she was more womanly now than before, her breasts pressed against him made that very clear. Although, that thought wouldn't come to the front of his mind till later. "Celestia. How I've missed you!" He nuzzled against her cheek as she had him down on the ground, closing his eyes as tears squeezed through. "If I didn't take part in this battle, I would be dead." He didn't want to let her go, but if they remained like this, They would likely both be killed.

He took a moment to think, when idea came to him. There was a cave he had never seen anyone else enter. He whispered very quietly, as he didn't know how close anyone else might be. "You have two choices. Either take my life, or pretend to flee south. About twenty miles south, near a small lake, is a cave. I will pretend to pursue you to it. We can talk there. I'm going to kick you off of me. Make your decision quickly. If you must take my life, just know that I won't hate you for it."

He kissed her cheek softly before curling his body under her and placing both of his feet at her stomach. "I'm sorry if this hurts." With a powerful thrust of both of his legs, he sent Celestia into the air, where he hoped she would regain her balance and fly south. Or end him. Either way, he was prepared for it.

Celestia felt as thought her heart had just skipped countless beats, her breathing unstable along with the trembling of the uncertainty she had, but how was it that she could ever doubt her best, and only one true friend she'd ever had. Her body gave a playful wiggle, nuzzling herself against him, his warmth over-whelming. "And I, you.." She whispered, somehow feeling at bliss in this one, awkward moment. "I understand, we're given no choice, but at least it's brought us together again." A smile curving perfectly into her lips, taking in everything she could of moment.

"..What?" He caught her a little off-guard, but she weren't entirely thinking when she had plummeted him down to the ground, it was just first-instinct, and now she knew she had put both of their lives in danger. As carefully as she could listen to him amongst the sound's of unmerciful toture, all's she knew was to fly South, if it were to get them killed or save them, she knew nothing. Simply with one nod of confirmation, she braced herself knowing his strength had agressively increased, herself still mostly dependant on her weapons.

Her finger's curled around his ankle's, trying to somewhat weaken the impact of the kick by pushing herself away from him before the pressure struck her in the stomach. Her body flew back, off-balance to one angle. However with one swift move she managed to draw her weapon, aiming it directly toward Dagon, purposely she missed, catching the ground beside him, and with great speed she flew upward and South, taking Dagon's orders. With no idea as to where she was going, or if this were going to work out, she knew the risk was worth it.

A few miles on, she turned, Dagon's silhouette still gaining behind her, she could hear the faint gushing noises of lake water to rock, knowing that their destination was near.

Dagon let out a long sigh of relief as her weapon pierced the ground beside him. As she flew off to the south, hopped to his feet before spreading his wings once again, taking off after her. He pasted a fake look of anger on his face, so if anyone saw him, he would seem to be in a battle rage. On the inside, however, he was simply filled with joy at his friend once again being in his presence. He wasn't sure how long this could last where they were able to be the way they were again, but he would cherish every moment of it.

Finally they reached the cave he had told her to find, it was far away from the fighting, and just to make sure that they weren't followed, he took a quick look all around. When he was sure no one else was around, he followed Celestia into the cave and let his stern face dissolve into a loving smile. It wasn't long before his slow walk broke into a run, which ended with him scooping her up in his arms, picking her up and squeezing her.

"I thought I would never see you again" he exclaimed, once again nuzzling his cheek to hers. Her body had become much more womanly since last they met, and he was just now realizing it. In that moment, his cheeks felt warm. Dagon slowly put his friend down, still smiling radiantly. If it weren't for the horns, he might just look angelic if not for the horns protruding from his forehead.
