The real Last Samurais and Zen, What is no mind?

What I got out of that scene from the last samurai, is that he had too much clouding his mind, when he should be focusing on the present moment. It is similar to the Taoist concept of Wu-Wei or Effortless action, Natural action, or Action through inaction. When he cleared his mind of all distractions, he could make that effortless action. He knew how to handle the sword, but he was worried about everything around him. When he was no longer concerning himself with his environment, he was able to perform much better.

Very nicely expressed. Zen in Japan was brought over from China, where Zen originated. It is a mixture of Mahayanan Buddhism and Taoist Philosophy. :D
