First Day (DeadRoseGarden and King_Bakal)

He gave her a quick peck on her cheek. He laughed then he told her that "Well, he always gets a freebie. Why can't I?" He look at her, waiting for her to react. He is having fun knowing that the people around there are oblivious to the fact that they were "official"

Lunch as usual was a fun time. The football team was as usual seated on the tables behind them. He did get taps from Johnny when he passed by, obviously giving him a sort of "salute" for having Eve on his side again. She looks really gorgeous today. The spaghetti just added some whole new dimension to her look, plus the pants complimented her very well. He was enjoying his meal and his time with friends. Of course, there is no need to mention that he is enjoying his time with her. Slowly, beneath the table, he held her hands for a few seconds as he looked at her. He smiled then let go. As if nothing happened, he continued with his meal.

Eve smiled at Brian when he took her hand and the kiss comment made her face turn bright red but the events of the day were truly just getting started. That afternoon powder-puff tryouts started and the girls were put out to watch the football players to learn what to do. The girl assigned to quarterback threw to each girl and the girls had to run to catch it. Surprisingly to everyone Eve was the fastest and most nimble.
Despite her large bust she, unlike the other girls, did not complain about the running and was awarded a spot on the team where she would be in charge of catching and running. The team she was assigned to was glad to have her. That was when they ended for the day and the girls were told who would be starters.
Afterwards Eve waited while the boys went in to shower and to her dismay Chad was the first one out the door. He approached Eve as she stood alone and the scene was not about to be pretty.
“Hey Eve I talked to coach and he said you need a date for homecoming. What do you say?”
“I’m flattered Chad but I can’t.”
Chad grabbed her arm before she could walk away and when she pulled he wouldn’t let her go, “I have been after you for years and you are so indifferent but some second rate jerk shows up and you just hop right onto the back of his bike? What’s that all about?”
“Let me go! Its none of your business!” But Chad had her other arm now and she was starting to panic. She kicked at him and pulled until he got her to the point that she had no choice, “You better let me go before my boyfriend gets out here or you’ll be sorry!”
“So that’s it.” He shoved her arms away with enough force to make her fall and Eve in truly rare form stayed down tears filling her eyes and she would stay where she landed in a seated position until Brian came out.

Brian's smile faded as he saw Eve in tears. The girl whom he swore to protect is down. To make matters worse, in front of her was his teammate. Brian quickly dropped his gear bag and ran towards Eve. He held her up, asking her what happened? The moment he looked at Chad, his calm and gentle aura has dissapated. With a crease forming on his forehead, he looked at Chad with murderous intent. With his arms around her, he could feel his blood rushing fast.

"What the hell is this all about punk?" Brian stood there, eye to eye with Chad.

"Why? You got a problem with that you sissy chink!?" If Eve was not clinging into Brian, Chad would pretty much have a good reason to associate asian guys with Kung Fu or The Yakuza. Brian doesn't care. He's not thinking right anymore. Who cares if this is school. What is it to him if he gets into trouble? It's too late. Chad struck the wrong chords.

Without warning Chad threw a big right. Because Brian's instinct was to protect Eve, he got a big one. Blood splattered on Eve's face.

It's like those fairytales that we get told when we were young. It's the knight against the dragon for the princess.

Eve tugged at Brian, “Stop!” She got between the two and shoved Chad out of Brian’s reach and as the coach came running towards the violence happening she knew Brian was about to be in real trouble and she knew she would have to do what she could to keep him out of trouble, “Coach it isn’t what it looks like!” She flew into and explanation and by the time her jacket was off and showing where Chad had grabbed her far too hard the whole team was ready to do the very thing Brian had already done.
“Then he said something so racist that I would never even repeat it! Look I think it might be best for the team if I stopped coming after class so once powder puff is over I swear you won’t see my face again around here.”
The coach told her that would not be necessary and he turned to Chad telling him he was off the team and it would be reported to the principle and he might face expulsion for putting his hands on Eve for telling him no and for the hate crime he committed.
“Brian my office now! Faith go clean yourself up one of you boys walk her back to the school and then wait with her until Brian can get back to her. I saw them come in together this morning so I think he is her ride. It won’t be too long.”

Honestly, Brian is more nervous when he was at Eve's house. With his knowledge of how to deal with superiors, he knows how to handle the situation. Besides, he didn't do anything earlier. Well, he was about to. Johnny escorted Eve back to the school.

"If was there earlier, I would give that punk a crescent kick. Hey, I am a black belt you know. Hell, if you want, I can give him a punt kick." Johnny said to Eve half jokingly, trying to ease her up and make her forget about the incident. Johnny is Brian's best buddy in school. The moment the two met on at practice, they hit it. As a junior, he is very fond of Brian. He already knows the real age of Brian but still, for him he is still a freshman. Brian on the other hand is like a sponge, listening to Johnny's advices. Besides, Johnny's been playing a higher level of football than Brian for a longer period of time. The two bonded very well. Both are very cheerful and fun guys. He is a pure Japanese but born and raised in america. That added a contributing factor too to the friendship. In this side of the U.S. it's rare to find asians.

Brian followed the coach to his office. He looks calm now but his blood is still boiling.

Eve tried to find humor in it but for the most part she had no idea what Johnny was talking about. When they got to Brian’s bike she sat on it side saddle again feeling like it was all her fault, “It was my own fault that Chad acted the way he did. He only shoved me because I told him Brian was my boyfriend and maybe I should have never tried to be friends with him after he continued to hit on me. I thought that it was just understood that I did not see him that way.” Eve was crying again and she was really worried, “He needs to keep what he has here or he has nothing and it might all be ruined because of me.” She got up from the bike. Eve rubbed at her eyes before talking again, “Can you let Brian know I went home already?”
Before she could be stopped Eve started on her way walking fast until she had made it half of the way home.

Johnny just shrugged it off and sighed. "Girls... Whatever..." He pulled out his cellphone and began typing away.

A familiar rumble echoed across the street. "There she is." Brian said as he gunned the engine. He went past Eve and the bike screeched into a halt a few meters away from Eve. Brian went straight to her and gave her a hug.

"What happened? You didn't told me about an early dinner?" He was all smiles, happy to see her. In his mind tho, he is thinking about something else. When he met Johnny at the school's parking lot, Johnny told Brian that after he has sent the text message about Eve walking away, he got a call from a furious Chad.

Johnny's voice is still echoeing in Brian's mind.

"South dock, 11 sharp. Be there tonight buddy. I'll be."

She stopped and it was obvious she was still crying but she smiled at him anyway, “Sorry I just. I didn’t know what to do and I don’t like people to see me like this.” She wiped at her eyes and she was glad that she did not wear any make up that day, “I’m sorry about everything. I should have never told him but I thought it would make him let go and leave me alone. I never thought it would do what it did.”
She was getting a bit hysterical and her breath was becoming more labored. Not only was she crying but she was going the right way to have a panic attack. She had not had one in a few years thanks to the relaxation she learned to do but her chest was getting tight and the world felt like it was spinning.

"Don't worry, everything is fine." He explained to her that the trip to the coach's office was no biggie. Just a few warnings and got praise for keeping it cool and not "firing" back at Chad. With his bike nicely parked at the side of the street, he playfully placed his hands on her armpits and carried her like a child and gently made her sit her on it. "Now miss, you're all grown up now so no more crying. Want to go to that deli where I buy my italian stuff? My treat. It's not far and we can grab something for your dad too. Something like a 'peace offering' of some sorts after what happened last Sunday morning."

He gave her a loving kiss and he placed the helmet on her.

Brian was a big eater, especially after workouts so he ordered a good serving of egg salad and some chicken breasts. Before her eyes pop out of their sockets, he explained to her that he can't finish it in one sitting. He just buys in bulk. The rest goes to the fridge. He ask her what she wants and told her it's on him. "I work too on the weekends. Pay day." After everything was said and done, they headed for Eve's place.

Her panic stopped once the moving of the bike soothed her and her tears had stopped in time for them to get to the Deli. She ordered the same thing he had bought for her before but she made a point to pay for her Dad’s food explaining it would be a matter of pride that was when she brought up his wanting to have him over for dinner, “I told my dad everything and I think he is glad that you know where I stand about the whole sex thing. The fact that you still wanted to date me after that was all he needed to know about you I guess.”
Eve unlocked the door and lead the way inside where she set up shop at the island in the kitchen. She sat on one of the four bar stools and set her homework out so that she could get it out of the way, “Thanks by the way.” She paused and looked up at him from where she was, “You know for coming after me. I would have been in a lot of trouble if you hadn’t. Last time that happened to me I passed out and no one was there to help.”

"Last time? Tell me about it." Flashbacks of last Saturday's events slowly eased his mind. He can't help but remember. It's on this house that he ended up being with the girl who made him feel whole. He sat on one of the stools, looking at Eve as she moves and talks. After a few minutes, a quick glimpse on his watch made him stand. "I don't think that the idea of your dad seeing me here again is a good one. I better go." He gave her a hug and a sweet kiss. As he walked out, he waved to her and said. "See you tomorrow. I'll call you."

As the night sky turns dark, a text message made his cellphone light up.

Eve explained that she had a bad panic attack because of something bad that happened and she fainted in her house and her dad was gone so when she came to she was still alone. She did not get into specifics about what the bad thing was but it was obvious the memory made her feel uncomfortable.
When he went to leave she made sure to kiss him back for a long moment and then smiled at him, “be careful going home and I will talk to you soon.” He was kind and a total gentleman and she marked him being a good choice in her life.

The clock started ticking and soon enough, it was time for the show. When he spoke to Eve earlier, he tried his best to sound as calm and relaxed as possible. Now that he is alone, there is no trace of smile on his face. He respected Chad both as a team mate and as Eve's hopeless suitor. Brian didn't care about his advances before so why would Chad do such an act? It would be understandable for Chad to attack Brian but Eve who is a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter than him? That is just low. "That punk picked the wrong guy to mess with."

He flipped his phone to look at the time. "Showtime." He said to himself. He went outside and rode his bike back to South Dock. "It's nice to be back here." This is the place where he worked after his father died. The area is known for it's bad neighborhood. In a way, Brian's toughness and determination can also be traced back here. He grew up how to be strong in this place. He was already strong back then. This place just took him to a higher level.

Brian surveyed the area. No sign of anyone yet. The calm breeze of the night and the gentle waters, reflecting the moon above served as a backdrop for the upcoming event. As he was about to dismount his bike, he saw lights approaching his way. "Johnny, finally!" He said to himself.

He was wrong. The wheels screeched with ferocity as the truck sped up and like a bull, it's aiming for Brian. He managed to get out of the way and avoided the truck that plowed into his bike. As he was standing up, Chad and two other men that he never saw before came out of the truck. He never saw that truck before either. It was not Chad's truck.

"Fuck you! I wish I hit you! You know that Mr. Superstar rookie shit?!" Chad picked Brian up and gave him an uppercut to the gut. "I so love to break your legs buddy, so you would fucking know how it feels to get cut from the team!" Brian didn't say a word and gave Chad a tackle. The two guys fell on the ground but before Brian could stand up, the other two guys went on top of him and started kicking him. Brian got picked up by one and as the other one was about to hit him, out came Johnny who gave the stranger a good two fisted smash from behind. "Sorry I was late bro, big sister borrowed the car and hasn't returned it yet. Have to walk." The guy holding Brian from behind got overpowered and received an elbow to the ribs from Brian. "Finally, you came Kato!" Johnny then replied, "Who the hell you think you are buddy? The Green Hornet?" The two bestfriends took their fighting stance as they prepared to fight Chad and his henchmen.

They didn't know that when Chad fell on the ground, the cellphone in his pocket dialled Jayme's number.

Across town, Jayme was horrified from what she was hearing. With a delayed reaction, she dialled Eve's number. When she finally picked up, she told her that Chad called. All she could here were screams, fighting, and Brian's voice.

Jayme arrived at Eve’s house and found Eve trying to call Brian, “Just forget it I tracked down where Brian lives. We can wait for him there. I heard from one of the team members that Chad was going to meet Brian and start some stuff tonight but no one will tell me where because they don’t want you anywhere near there.”
Eve was quick to agree and she was pist by the time she got to Brian’s house, “He said he had to go because he didn’t want to give my dad a bad impression what the hell is he thinking? Fighting even off school property could get him in a whole lot of trouble!”
Jayme tried to calm her down but saying a man had to protect his honor was something that Eve didn’t want to hear. She was not fond of waiting for a man to return from a fist fight. Panic was starting to replace the anger when she and Jayme were waiting for a long time. Eve’s chest started to feel tight and her breath became more shallow, Jayme fanned her and tried to get her to calm down but before long the only thing Jayme could do was hold her fainted friend.

"Those guys won't stand a chance with us! Way to go pal!" Said Johnny who is now short of one tooth. Brian laughed and said. "Well, those guys picked the wrong guys to mess up with. But, damn, it hurts." Brian flexed his arms a bit, shaking off the stiffness. "That mofo has a tough skull." It's now 12:30 in the morning. The two decided to leave Brian's broken bike on the dock for now. It won't run. Johnny said that his sister is probably home by now. They can just drive back here with the truck and haul it up. Brian asked Johnny about his parents. Wouldn't he and his sister like get into trouble for being out so late? Johnny told him not to worry because they care more about their business than their kids. As long as we go home, we're good.

The early morning 3 mile walk has begun.

Chad on the other hand was a sore loser, leaving his friends behind after Brian and Johnny gained the upper hand. The two strangers finally ran off and jumped into the back of the truck before Chad floored it.

It's 1 in the morning and Jayme is becoming paranoid.

When Eve came to she saw a panicked Jayme holding her head, “Where is he?” Eve asked but Jayme had no answer for her. Eve sat up putting her finger tips to her aching temples, “See Jayme this is why I don’t date. Lets go home, I am so over it.” Her jaw tightened in anger as she staggered a bit getting to her feet. She went and got into Jayme’s car but Jayme was sitting where he was.
She had taken Eve’s phone from her pocket and was calling Brian. When it rolled to voice mail she left him a message, “Well Brian I think you are officially over with Eve. We have been waiting here forever and she totally freaked out and passed out now she is pist.”
Jayme got in the car handing Eve her phone back and took her friend home. Once home, Jayme left her and Eve sat out back on the trampoline. First relationship ever and it was an epic fail.

When they arrived at Johnny's place, Johnny didn't even think twice. He clicked his key switch, and jumped into his shiny F150. "C'mon Brian, hop in! Perks of being a rich kid man!" Strangely enough, Brian didn't answer. When Johnny looked outside, there he was, on his cellphone. "Girls.. Girls... Oh well." Johnny sighed and waited patiently. After a few seconds, Brian hopped inside the truck. "Finally man! Look at this beauty dude! First time inside her, what's your impression?" Brian didn't answer Johnny's question. The only thing he told him was to just forget about the bike for now, they need to go to Eve's place. Quick.

Eve’s dad was long since in bed but there she lay on the trampoline looking at the sky. That was when she started talking to the air, “Hey Gran. I know it’s been a while since I prayed or talked to you but I am lost and I know you are up there in heaven watching everything. Maybe you could give me some kind of sign about what to do. I like him and I am worried like crazy but he lied to me. He used my dad as an excuse to go fight some idiot.” She sighed and stayed quiet for a long while as if waiting for a response but when none came she decided her only option if she did not hear from him before morning would be to say goodbye.
She put her right index and middle finger on her full beautiful lips shutting her eyes to think about how it made her feel when he kissed her. That wasn’t enough though, that feeling had been the end of her mother among some other feelings she enjoyed a little to much, and Eve was not about to let a boy be her demise.

A couple of blocks away, Johnny was driving fast. Brian didn't ordered him to drive at break neck speeds but Johnny knows the things that are probably going on Brian's mind right now. As Johnny was about to take a right hand turn, he was stopped by the lights at the intersection. It was at this moment that, to their horrors, they recognized the truck at the other end of the intersection. It still has the fresh paint of Brian's ruined bike. The truck's driver turned on the highbeams and gunned the engine, disregarding the red light. Johnny istinctively drove away as a chase got started. "Oh boy, this is going to be a long night! We're almost there Brian!" Brian then screamed "No! Don't take the fight there! Drive somewhere else!"

Jayme cannot sleep. Everything was such a suprise to her. She too, even tho she's not really involved, got scared to death. she can't imagine that such things can happen to mere highschool students. Her feelings of dread just got worse as she heard a distant rumble. She was staring at the window the whole time trying to calm herself but she can't. The rumbling just got louder as the two trucks passed her house. She swore that it's Johnny's truck and on the passenger seat is the face of someone who is very dear to her friend.

She knows that she already left a message to Brian's phone. She doesn't want Eve to know about this but she's already too scared. She was holding her phone, thinking twice if she will call Eve.

Jayme tried Eve’s phone several times after making the decision but after too much time had passed Eve didn’t bother with the ringer. She put the phone on silent and rolled over curling her knees to her chest she sobbed so hard that she was surprised her dad slept through it and eventually Eve fell asleep with swollen eyes on the trampoline. The next morning her dad left her there not bothering to wake her for school but he simply carried her into the house laying her on the sofa before leaving for work.
He put the ringer up on her phone and left it on the table beside her giving her red and swollen eyes a tiny brush with his fingers. HE figured it was something to do with that boy and he knew it would take a long time before he could forgive someone for doing this to his sweet Eveie.

"This is starting to look like a movie man! Loving it!" Johnny's adrenaline was rushing. It was pumping. Same thing for Brian but it's not because of the car chase. It's because of "her" Jayme's voice echoed through his mind. He wants to put all the blame on Chad for stirring up a mess like this. It should be over yesterday. Still, he can't avoid it. He is a man fighting for his partner and his own pride.

As the the chase continues, the truck where Chad is got the upper hand and pit maneuvered Johnny's F150. The two trucks lost control and as Johnny rammed his foot on the brakes, an eerie screetch echoed. Chad came out kicking on the truck's door. First to come out was Brian followed by Johnny.

"What else do you want Chad!?? This is over now!" Said Brian. His forehead bleeding, he got whiplashed hard during the colision and hit the dash.

"It's all over for me Brian! My team, my dreams, my Eve!!! You ruined everything you punk!"

Little did they know that one of Chad's friend owns a gun. He went inside the truck and pulled it out of the glove compartment.

With his pupils dilated, Chad screamed "Hey, put that down you motherfucker! No!!!"

Eve's phone rang. It was a call from the nearby hospital. She was also informed that they already called another person earlier. They check the victim's phone for contacts.

Jayme was already in Eve's driveway. She got called too.

Eve was trembling when she got in the car wearing the same thing she was yesterday and Jayme knew that nothing needed to be said. The girls rushed to the hospital and after a long fight with the people at the counter they were allowed to see the occupants of the hospital room/s. The curtain was pulled in front of the person lying in the bed and her gut turned over with a deep sick feeling.
She had been so mad at him and she had been ready to walk away but the worst part was she knew that he knew that. She never thought after feeling such intense passion she would feel such pain so soon.

Her attention was suddenly grabbed by Jayme. Jayme overheard the two nurses chatting about the recent shooting incident. Two asian kids where found bleeding at a wreck a couple of blocks away. There are no suspects as of now. One of them got shot on the leg and suffered a shattered knee. The other one got hit at the shoulder. The bullet only grazed him. Nearby police responded immediately after a someone dialed 911 upon hearing the gunshot.

From beyond the curtains, a voice erupted. "Don't worry, we're alive." It's Johnny. "But the doc said that he might not walk again. I aint telling that to him once he wakes up."

Eve and Jayme stepped in closer and to her horror she saw Brian asleep or unconciouse, she wasn’t sure but anger hit her all over again and she started screaming at Johnny, “Did you two loose your god damn mind!?”
“Oh crap Eve just cursed this gonna get ugly” Jayme joked but there was truth in her words. The last time she heard her swear was when she got into a fight freshman year.
“What the hell were you thinking going to meet with Chad for a settling of things that were already done with? Male pride be damned! He was handled and now here you both are with your futures on the line! What about me huh? Ever think about what this would do to me? God you are both macho idiots! I just came to make sure you were both alive. Jayme I will wait for you outside.” Eve was trembling with rage and just when she stopped screaming someone was coming in to see what the problem was. She pushed passed the nurse and plopped down in a chair outside the room.

Johnny delivered his famous line again. "Girls... Girls..." followed by his trademark sigh. Jayme followed Eve outside. She convinced her to come back. She was her friend but she didn't agree to Eve's decision to just walk out.

"Eve, the reason why we are here is because he needs you. Don't you know that? And I'm pretty sure, you still love the guy."

Johnny stood up and this freaked out the nurse. "Please, it was just a scratch! I'm A-OK miss." Johnny said to the nurse as he walked outside and called the two girls. "What? You two will just gonna stay there? Come inside. Atleast be the first living thing that he sees when he wakes up. If you're bored, I dunno, probably talk to him as if he can hear you."
