Their religion and culture upholds life to the highest regard, and the lifegivers – the women – was given more ability to rule than the men. Chivalry in this land is still there. But instead of just saving a lady in distress, men were expected to protect and serve to prevent that from happening. The man's role wasn't to lead but to protect.
Issues involving sex, children, and noble lines are also different. To the women, the time they blossomed [that is, have their first period] is considered the most sacred event. At the choosing of the noble's house, after this has happened the search for a royal marriage begins. But there is one other. In part to help prepare for her marriage bed, she is allowed to have a male concubine. This person is meant to be not just a protector, but to get her ready sexually. And while he has to serve her and do whatever she asks, there is one thing that is taboo. Her first child must be of noble birth. The act of intercourse is the most sacred act to a woman. A concubine slave who disobeys this command is given a most cruel punishment. And the lady is drilled at the importance of this. She may do whatever she wish otherwise.

The army is divided into both men and women, and a woman who served well may, as a reward, allow a male of her choice if she can no longer fight to have a child. Often a strong one is chosen.
