The air within the summoning ground was stagnant and suffocating. It was a familiar feeling, however, to most summoners. This particular one had felt the sensation only a few times before. Everything had to be perfect, there was no room for mistakes. Leanne understood the consequences of her failure. Not only would her rights as a summoner be revoked, but she would quickly become the laughing stalk of the entire town. It was a simple task, at least, for any of the prodigal summoners in her town. All she had to do was at least summon a B-class demon to gain notoriety for herself. Most of the average summoners managed only a C-class, a demon without form or free will. Those demons were easily manipulated and bent to the summoners will. B-class were significantly tougher, with a faint trace of their own free-will. Leanne knew that it was still something she could handle.

Ultimately, she wished to become one of the stronger summoners who could summon A and S-class demons. A-Class demons were among the toughest to control, they had free-will of their own and a physical form. S-Class demons were far beyond anything that she could comprehend. She had only heard stories of powerful summoners accidentally calling forth an S-Class demon and losing their humanity because of it. The rumors said that S-class demons not only had a free will of their own, but they had a humanoid form. They were perfection itself, and had forms that were bathed in the ultimate allure. These demons were said to feed on the souls of summoners, using their strong will and allure to seduce the summoners into giving away their souls. This was precisely why everything HAD to go perfectly for her. Even though Leanne highly doubted she had the magical power to produce such a powerful demon, she couldn't afford to take any chances.

For the occasion, Leanne discarded her usual attire in exchange for the heavy summoner robes that were traditionally worn for demon conjuring. The surface of the smooth fabric was covered in intricate symbols that were said to help channel the summoner's magic. Her straight black hair was held up in a ponytail on the back of her head, the stray strands of her bangs brushed out of her eyes in order to obtain optimal visibility. In her hands she held her teacher's book, which she had... 'borrowed' for the summoning. Once everything was set up, she slowly brought herself into a sitting position in front of the elaborate alchemic-like symbol she had drawn on the floor. Incense burned throughout the room, bringing forth small droplets of water from the corners of her eyes. She breathed in a heavy breath before her small hands brushed against the crinkled page of the ancient book.

The words slowly slipped from her mouth, as if she were an actor whom had practiced her lines for the stage for years. Words that she may not have originally known seemed to shine with knowledge in her mind as she channeled her magic throughout the room. It was perfect, everything had been set up according to plan. This was her first time attempting to summon an average demon, so she wasn't exactly sure how much magic she should put forth. Without much thought, she pushed forth all her magic into the room.

'That should be more than enough..' She thought to herself while she read off the book. 'I don't really think I have that much inner magic power... this should at least be enough to summon a B-class.. please oh please...'

After what seemed like hours of reading, she eventually managed to weaken the bonds between her reality, and the world that the demons resided in. This was the point where she would reach out with her magic and pull out a demon from his world into hers. But was she using enough magic..? It didn't quite seem like it, so she pushed herself a bit further. Her throat and eyes burned, and her hands started to shake.. but the process was nearly complete now. Any moment and the demon would appear in the designated circle.
