The golden haired 20 year old let out a short exasperated sigh as she began scribbling down answers to her Astronomy homework. Sometimes Jennifer wished she hadn't placed herself in such advanced classes but hey it was what her parents wanted,so she figured she'd make them happy. The beautiful blond let her cerulean eyes travel across said paper, carefully erasing careless mistakes she'd made and etching into it with her granite filled pencil until she finally got what she needed to put down. The girl was sitting at a lunch table by herself, and that was fine with her. All her friends went to different schools and she hated that she could only see them on the weekend, along with her family once a month. She was working a job and doing all this homework and was about to start another job.

It was a damn wonder all the stress didn't get to her. It had gotten close though. But, like the trooper she considered herself to be, Jen got through it all without any complaint, though she missed many nights of sleep because of it. Today she'd only gotten 5 hours of sleep and she considered that very good, at least better than the last week. Her Scottish father considered his eldest daughter to be his pride and joy and was very proud of her for what she'd done, and expected her to become as great as he did. Her mother too, though she was a little less demanding. Both of them loved her very much, and her sister Katie often spent the night with her at her dorm and apartment because her parents were always traveling about. It was fine with her, the younger 13 year old blond was fun to hang around with and she often helped her with her 7th grade homework.

Right now, Jennifer wasn't in a very good mood. She was tired and cranky and hungry, but thought to herself she didn't have the time to eat. She pulled out her English book and immediately began reading that, rubbing her eyes.

James was only here because he was bored, the son of a very successful lawyer and a even more successful stock broker he had inherited a literal fortune when they had died three years earlier and now the twenty one year old young man was only enrolled in school to kill time. He knew that if he didn't want to he would never need to get a job to support himself, the amount he had been left would let him live comfortably for years. But that wasn't what he wanted, life was boring if you didn't challenge yourself or push yourself further and James always did that. Hell just to be different he had decided that he had wanted to attend school in Europe and after three years the native born American was starting to pick up a natural British accent, even using the slang as part of every day life.

But even beyond the schooling he was a bit bored at the moment, the classes were being passed without much effort at all and he found himself in need of a challenge, something to chase and pursue. He knew that if he didn't find something to do in his spare time then he would soon become stagnant and stop moving forward, a challenge was needed to stay motivated at all times.

In the cafeteria he looked around for someone with potential as he brushed his jet black hair away from his eyes, recently he had been going with a slightly retro punk rock kind of look, messy hair and torn jeans with shirts lacking sleeves. After a few moments he saw her, lovely and over worked... looking as though she could use a bit of temptation. Walking through the cafetiere with tray in hand James sat down across from her, smiling a little bit to himself. “Looks like you need a distraction, might I suggest a visit to a nearby pub tonight... with me?”

Ugh, this was really getting on her nerves. She loved English but this story was just so pointless and made no sense at all. Why did her professor actually want them to study this garbage? He was a nice guy and all, and she had no room to sound like she knew better than he did, but if she'd been running the class she'd at least picked something else more challenging. Shakespeare maybe..? No. He was too easy. When she was in high school and everyone complained of how challenging he was she was breezing by it with no problem. She completely understood every word, every meaning behind his plays and she really enjoyed them. Which of course probably made her a nerd in every sense, but who was she to care?

Mm, maybe Ralph Waldo Emerson? She'd studied him briefly in school when they delved into transcendentalism but he hadn't really stuck out to her. However it would be a perfect time as always to go back and look him up. Or maybe that would be too easy as well? Oh who knows. With another rough sigh she turned the page of her book and didn't hear the newcomer sit down until he spoke.

His appearance was the first thing that stood out to her. torn jeans..sleeveless shirt..dark hair. He was quite good looking, she'd give him that, but when he spoke with that accent she found herself staring at him longer than possible. She didn't say this to anyone but she absolutely LOVED European accents, especially English ones. Her father was Scottish but she'd been to all parts of the UK and decided, much to his chagrin, that she preferred the British one the best. Irish just sounded strange and she'd heard enough Scottish from her dad's side to get by, so that left her with only one choice.

As he asked her out she cocked a thin eyebrow up at his suggestion. She did have an awful lot to do, but..she could use a break. With a smile she nodded, head tilted to the side. "Alright. Sounds good to me.I usually don't go out with strangers but you're an exception to that rule. My name's Jennifer, Jen for short."
