"Hey Harry, pass me some beer buddy" says Bad as he climbs up his boat after having had a swim.

"Here ya go!" says harry and hurls a can towards Bad.

"Where is Fred?" asks Bad as he looks around the messy deck. "And what the hell have you guys been upto!!"

"He's on braddy's boat, with the chicks. They're having a ball out there" says harry pointing to the Cruising yacht not far away.

"lucky bastard! they sure are man!" replies Bad as he looks on the at Brady's yacht. "Why didnt you go with him?" asks Bad finishing the last bit of his beer.

"Naaaw! im feeling sick, ill just sit here and enjoy the sun" says harry and covers his face with his mag.

"And some porn!" says Bad tossing the can over at the bin. "come on let's go, you lazy ass. the sun's shining, the weather is sweet and i like the look of those babes!" says Bad as he moves toward harry's chair, staring at the deck across the water.

Suddenly a violent thunder startles everyone. The sound of the loud music that had been rocking the place all afternoon, pales in comparison. Everybody seemed to pause for a second before the rumbling subsided and the music became loud again. The party resumed, once again in full flow.

On the other boat, Linda was looking up at the sky. It didn't look very good and with the thunder earlier, she wondered if maybe it would be a better idea to just return to shore. She wasn't really sure why she had come on this trip in the first place. She had recently broken up with her boyfriend. Well, broken up was a nice way of putting it. He'd dumped her. At the time she hadn't reacted, putting on a front of indifference. But inside, it had hurt her deeply.

Linda had decided to come on this trip when one of her friends had invited her to get away. She hadn't been too thrilled about the idea when she found out a certain someone, who often got on her nerves, would also be there. Thankfully, he was on a different boat, so she'd been able to enjoy herself up until this point. Of course when the loud thunder, which wasn't a particular favorite of hers, began rolling and the clouds began darkening and the waves began growing... the fun for her had started to decline.

"Maybe we should held back to shore," Linda suggested as the thunder began again.

"Nah, it's fine!" Brad brushed her off.

"But it's starting to rain already and it looks like there might be some thunder storms coming, is it really a good idea to be out here?"

Before they could argue further, a large wave rocked the boat violently and they all fell to their knees. Soon, the storm she had predicted came into full force. It all happened so fast, Linda couldn't even remember what happened, and the next thing she knew, she was floating in the water on what looked to be a piece of the boat she'd been on. And all around her, the open ocean, no sight of her friends or either of the boats.

"boy o boy this doesnt look good at all" says Bad looking anxiously at the dark clouds gathering above them and the wind picking up.

"Hey braddy watch outttttt!" bad shouted but to no avail as a violent wave struck Brady's boat, almost turning it over.

"oooh shitt!" exclaimed harry "let's get going dude" as the first rain came pouring down.

"yeah let's get the fuck out of here man!" Bad said as he recovered from shock mode "hey check on the intercom if you can get braddy or anyone from their while i get us moving" Bad barked at Harry as he took control of the wheel. "cmon baby get us out of here!"

Within a few minutes they had turned around along with the couple of other yachts and were speeding to safety, looking back anxiously at Brady's boat as it inched it's way around.

"move man! step on it!!" Bad had his hands on the wheel but like everyone else his eyes were on the boat which now seemed to be moving. He picked up the Binoculars and watched intently.

"yeah that's better!" cheers rose all around the shore as Brady's boat gathered speed in the distance and the rain came pouring down. "hey they are moving now what did you get from the intercom?"

"nothing, they are all ok i guess" said harry putting his hands over his eyes for cover "let's wind it up get back inside im not feeling too well Bad" pleaded harry.

"Wait! Fuck there is somebody in the water. They have left somebody there" bad exclaimed with terror.

"what the hell are you saying man?" asked Harry as he came pacing toward him.

"Im serious! here take a peek and let me connect to Brad" said Bad and went running to the intercomm. "No signal fuck!"

"oh my Gawd! Gawaaad!" harry began screaming.

"Harry we are going back! there is no signal and Brady has no idea." Bad told harry with a meaningful look and began turning the wheel.

"Are you mad! look at this weather and this boat. you cant go like that" Harry tried pushing Bad off the wheel.

The two struggled for control as the rain came thundering down. Bad got the better of Harry and pushed him off the deck into the sea.

"Go to hell Bad!" frowned Harry

"im sorry pal cannot take you there by force" replied Bad with a smile as he took the wheel and sped away! He soon passed Brady at the sea and didnt respond to the any of the horns from him.

It was getting gloomy and the rain was puring down as the boat bounced over the waves. He switched on the lights and shut down the engine upon reaching what looked like the spot they had occupied at 10 minutes ago. He climbed up the roof of the deck and held on to the signal mast, watching out for any clues or movement as the rain splashed on. The waves hammered onto the boat and it drifted into the sea with each passing minute.

"what the fuck am i doing here!" he sighed with despair. He looked back and there was no sign of the shore. Maybe Harry had been right after all.

Linda was beginning to feel weaker, floating out in the water for what seemed like hours. "Is this how it's going to end?" she panted, just barely hanging on to the piece of the boat she'd been clinging on to since she'd fallen off. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted something. A part of her wondered if maybe she was just imagining things, but as it continued moving closer and closer towards her, she was certain it was a boat. "HELP!" she hoarsely yelled out, attempting to wave one hand over frantically as she continued to hold on to the wreckage. "HELP!"

He jumped back on to the deck when he heard something. He halted and running his fingers through his hair he stood on listening attentively. It was a cry or whimper of sorts that could hardly be heard over the rain and thunder. Maybe it was his mind playing tricks.

He stepped inside and began turning the lights around to reveal the murky spans of water ahead. Suddenly he spotted something. He picked up the binoculars and peeked in for a good look. It was there! Ahead of him somebody on a plank bouncing on the waves!

He restarted the engine and steamed ahead as fast as the boat could manage in the gust and rain. The thick rain made it impossible to determine who it was, dead or alive! He adjusted the search light again trying to locate his intended target and there it was, flapping hands in the air, a girl just a few yards ahead!

"Hey it's Baaaaaaad!! Just hang in there!" he screamed at the top of his voice and stopped the engine. He ran to the opposite corner, slipping in the process and hurting his elbow. "Shit!!" he said picking himself up. He got hold of the life buoy and turned around checking the rope hurriedly. "That should be long enough" he convinced himself and quickly made his way onto the roof, twisting his right arm further in the proess.

"Haaaeeeey!" he shouted waving his hands "Catch this! huh aaaaah" and hurled the buoy toward the girl with all the strength he could conjure up. The buoy landed a couple of yards ahead of the plank as Bad looked on panting, his face showing a mixture of anguish and relief as he rubbed his left hand over his swelling right arm.

It felt like hours as Linda screamed out for help. The boat seemed almost to take forever to reach her, but at last it did. A buoy was thrown to her, landing a couple of yards ahead. She didn't have much strength left in her body, but she needed to reach that buoy, it was her only lifeline.

"AHH!" she yelled out, pushing off the plank and grabbing for the buoy. She didn't reach it, but Linda wasn't about to give up. She was stubborn. And while most people thought that was a weakness, to her, it was her strength, more so at this moment, when she needed it. Forcing herself, Linda gathered the remainder of her strength and swam towards the buoy. She was an avid swimmer, and her body was used to pushing through the pain, but at that moment, it wasn't the pain that was holding her back, she couldn't feel pain, as her legs had already gone numb from the cold water. The problem was, she had to swim against the current, and the thunderous waves were certainly not help. Still she persisted, and just when she thought her strength would give out, she reached the floating buoy; wrapping her arms around it, hugging it tight, as she pulled the string hard, indicating to her rescuer that she was ready to be pulled in.

He watched on as the lonesome figure fought the unforgiving waves and got hold of the float. Jumping back on to the deck he then hurried to catch the line waiting for a pull from the sea. And it was there! A feeble but distinct pull from the other end that could be distinguished from the gusts and the violent tides. He began pulling with all the might that his injury would allow.

The rain continued to hammer down and the night had fallen by now. In the middle of the violent sea, two beams of light danced about as the boat rose and fell at the mercy of each passing wave. On the deck Bad pulled on, more tired than ever as the few yards reduced to a just a few feet. Some last gasp effort from him and she was within reach of his arms but Bad was really struggling now while the sea was as mean as ever. A huge wave arose and knocking him off balance as he tried to lunge forward and catch her. He lost hold of the line and he hit the deck again!

p.s. boy there is so much teasing coming linda's way now! I feel sorry for her.

Linda felt the line start pulling her in, her hope renewed thinking she was finally saved. She would die out there. All she had to do was hold on.

"Just hold on," she repeated over and over to herself, feeling her tired body want to let go, but she couldn't; she wouldn't. Not when she was so close to being rescued.

The crashing waves kept wanting to pull her away, but the person on the other line persisted and pulled her within feet of the boat he was riding. At last, Linda was within grasp of solid footing as he began pulling her up, when suddenly a giant wave, knocked them over she fell back down to the freezing water, struggling to keep her hold on the buoy, to keep from sinking under the crashing waves.

(hahahah, kind of excited to see how that plays out)

He recollected his senses quickly and rolled over the receding rope pressing his weight over it. Regaining his composure, he griped the line, moved back and resting his back against the side of the boat, pulled away. With the adrenaline pumping through and determination written all over his face he rode over the pain barrier and quite literally pulled her onto the boat.

He quickly tied the rope to the hook drilled into the side and hurried to the opening at the other end to complete the rescue! The rain had let up considerably but little did he know that soon, he would be hating himself for all his heroics. He switched off the search lights and lit up the deck in it's place, quickly approached the opening and pulled up his baggy, red shorts. Bending down he held out his hand as she tried to evade the waves and pull herself up on to the deck.

"Here hold on to this!" he panted and extended his right arm. She grabbed it and he pulled her on to the deck with some labor. Ignoring her for the moment he grabbed hold of the buoy and pulled it out of the water.

"Thank heavens!" he exclaimed with relief, turning around with buoy in his hand not knowing in the slightest what a nasty surprise awaited him. The rain had stopped now and deck was well lit up. He turned his attention toward the survivor joyfully tossing the boy onto his shoulder. Yet as soon as he saw her all that relief and joy turned into a feeling untamed fury and frustration!

"It was YOUuuuuu!!!!!! Fuck me!" he shouted as he lifted the buoy over his extended arms and threw it into the corner. It landed safely away from her but it was evident as to who his frustration was directed towards. It was Linda who stood there shivering in her swimming attire.

He turned round and opened the ice box and began gulping down some beer. But there was nothing that would console him now, not even the fact that the rain had stopped completely, for the moment at least!

"so what do you want from me now ha?" he said frowning and threw the bottle in the sea. He folded his arms and resting against the side addressed her with a crooked smile. "Silence. Complete bloody silence!" he said sighing loudly and shook his head.

He opened the ice box again, took some ice and held it over his elbow as the rain resumed once more. "Now will her highness please move inside, before she catches a cold and this asshole has to nurse her along too!!!" he barked bitterly at her. This was the same Linda he once used to whole heartedly love.

Linda had been about to thank her rescuer, even after realizing who it was; although admittedly she had been a little annoyed to see him. Still, Bad, the one guy in the entire world whom she absolutely abhorred, had saved her life, and she was grateful. So she had been willing, purely out of gratitude, to put their differences aside and thank him for saving her life. She was going to thank him, but after he started yelling at her, she threw the idea completely out.

Who the hell did he think he was? "Yes! it was me!" Linda shouted back at him after began he yelling at her.

Angrily glaring at him, she pushed passed Bad, heading down to the lower deck of the ship to go change. Though normally she wouldn't do something just because he told her to do it, she didn't want to get sick either. She was stubborn, but she wasn't stubborn enough to put her health in any more danger than it already had been considering how long she'd been in the freezing cold water. "Like hell I want him to nurse me!" she shouted, disappearing to the lower deck to change into whatever clothes she could find.

"There are some dry clothes in drawers. Wear whatever you want just leave something for me. OK!" he yelled back as she moved down.

"oh and hurry up with the toilet and everything else. im bloody tired chasing you all evening!" he shouted from above as the rain began to gather pace. He looked at the sky and the clouds were still gathering. The wind had dropped but that meant heavier rain and more work on the deck. He cursed and the agony became evident on his face as he stood up and began searching the deck for the bucket.

She ignored him, preferring not to pay him any attention as she hurried to the drawer and pulled out an oversized white shirt and some rather baggy clothes. She wasn't surprised it was only mens clothes in the drawer, since there had only been men on this boat.

Heading straight for the bathroom, Linda decided to take her time. She decided this, because he had ruined her mood, which to be fair hadn't been particularly great given that she had very nearly died, out in the open ocean. She had, however, become much happier the moment she spotted the ship, and then caught the buoy. The fact that he had been the one to pick her up, out of all the people in the world it could have possibly been, had not completely soured her mood. it was when he decided to yell at her for having to rescue her, when she really got pissed, and now, she was taking it out on him.

An hour after relaxing in the warm bath water, finally regaining some sensation back in her extremities, Linda emerged from the bathroom, dressed in the over sized white t-shirt, her long brown hair in a towel, and her left hand holding up the baggy shorts which didn't seem to want to stay up on their own. "Shower's free," she smiled faking at Bad, before walking passed him and heading toward the one bedroom in the boat, to take a nap.

"Finally!!" he sighed throwing his arms up in the air. he had been draining the deck for the past hour. Thankfully the rain had stopped now but there was still a couple of little puddles left on the wooden deck.

"That's it for tonight" he straightened his back admiring his work and put the bucket in the corner. Switching off the lights he knocked the door and walked in.

"Oh ho ho! that's too much skin you are showing still, dont you think princess Linda!" he giggled as he glanced over her slim but curvy companion. he picked up a sheet from the sofa and tossed it toward her. "Here! This is not Mark's (Linda's ex boyfriend) place you know. there is man in here" he passed another cheap comment as he nursed his right arm and walked in toward small refrigerator in the corner.

"Pervert!" She threw the blanket at his feet, glaring in him. "No one told you to look!" she replied, ignoring him and continuing to walk away. She didn't care what he had to say. This was all just temporary, as soon as they got back to shore she wanted nothing to do with him. "What did you say?" She shouted at the mention of her ex. Don't even talk to me about that Jerk! And just stay out of my way!" she shouted, turning and walking towards the bed at the other end of the room, quickly pulling back the covers and crawling under them; covering her face and ignoring him, hoping not to have to talk to deal with him until they got back to shore.

"Ok ok that's enough gal!" He signaled with his hand. Then pulled open the fridge and began taking stock of what was left.

"Bread, butter, chocolate bars and plenty of milk. oooh there is some steak too! Just leave the milk and some steak for me. he said putting everything back. We'll have to make do with this till the morning." He shrugged and closed the door.

He then opened the cabinet and pulled put some dry, loose clothes and a towel. Then proceeded to the bathroom for a well deserved break. Upon stepping inside he turned round "Hey if the rains comes again you'll have to check upstairs. The bucket is on the right of the door. good luck and sweet dreams!" he said with a smirk on his face and closed the door.

"Oh and what do i do with your wet clothes lying in here?" He yelled from inside the bathroom.

"Morning?!?" She shot back up in bed, looking at him questioning. "What do you mean morning? Aren't we heading back now?" She didn't get her answer though, as he walked away and went into the bathroom and proceeded to yell about the wet clothes she had hung over the shower to let dry. "Just put them in the sink!" she shouted, her mood souring even more knowing that for whatever reason, she would be stuck out there with him. "Agh! might as well just get some sleep," Linda mused to herself, throwing the covers back in her and snuggling inside the blankets to keep warm, which she was finding difficult to do since it was so incredibly cold thanks to the storm outside.

The shower was cold but it was a respite nonetheless from a tiring evening. He scanned his body, rubbing his fingers over the several cuts and bruises he had endured during the whole episode, as water trickled over his tanned skin. He pushed his arms up against the wall, reflecting over the events of the past few hours. It sent shivers down his spine. But, it was all over now he smiled rubbing his hands over his face; a good nights sleep and they will be headed back home in the morning.

He turned off the shower and dried himself when he caught a glimpse of her blue bikini. "Oh fantastic choice! i adore blue!" he tried to flirt. He put on some loose shorts and was buttoning up his shirt on his way out when suddenly the boat rocked.

"Oh boy that was a big one!" he exclaimed regaining his balance and stepped out of the bathroom. Glancing over at her as she sat up horrified he chanced upon another opportunity to annoy her.

"Hey Lindaaaa!" he exclaimed. Then let out a sigh of relief when she looked at him. "Thank god you are still there hun!" he said with a mysteriously serious face. "I was worried that you might have slipped off the boat again! buahahahah!" he finished and burst into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

The boat rocked, nearly sending Linda soaring off the bed, but somehow she managed to hold on. Not without getting tossed about and the covers falling off, but still, at least she didn't fall off an injure herself. When Bad showed up and appeared to show concern over her, she had been a little touched, until he reverted back to the jack ass she knew and loathed and then Linda just glared, grabbed the blankets off the floor and snuggled her self back under them, ignoring him and swearing in her head she would make his life a living hell once they returned to shore.

He reached cabinets and pulled out a sheet. Then settling in the sofa, wrapped himself up and and watched her as she slept peacefully. She had a grace and innocence that others he had been lacked so severely. Perhaps she still rang a few bells inside him. He gave in to his ego an quickly rejected all positive thoughts about her, taking a deep breath. It went back to that infamous spat they had. Linda had become fed up with his advances toward her and she gave him a piece of her mind in the main corridor. Since then the resentment had grown between the two and there had been several incidents in and outside college.

His weary eyes indicated how much he was craving sleep The rain had died down considerably but he was worried about the water from the rain collecting over on the deck. Rubbing his eyes he got up and headed toward the refrigerator. He pulled it open and gulped down some milk, put the bottle back and closed the door after a refreshing drink. He then switched off the lights, bending over her lean body to get the lamp and proceeded to his makeshift bed hoping for a good nights sleep.

A big yawn was the last that was heard from him as he pulled the sheets over him and laid motionless.

Linda's night was not pleasant. Though she slept through the roaring thunder and lightening raging on outside, the whole night she tossed and turned under the blankets, eventually kicking them off her body. In her sleep, she was plagued with nightmares and memories of the fight she had had with her now ex-boyfriend, Mark.

They had been having problems for a long time, but the previous week it had all come to an explosive end. They had argued for hours, her telling him that he was irresponsible and short sighted; him, telling her she was cold and distant. He had complained that she spent too much time studying and working, and not enough time with him. In the end, the arguing was put to rest when Mark accidently confessed that he had been sleeping around. Linda had been shocked and incredibly hurt, but had somehow managed to hold back the tears, and the screams. She remained silent, unable to say anything more, and merely let him speak before turning and just walking away.

Linda hated showing weakness in font of others.

In her dreams, she could see what he been telling her. How she was too cold and unemotional. She watched as he told her, in excrutiating detail, how it was her coldness had driven him away. Driven him into the arms of numerous other women. And yet, as he told her, she said nothing. Didn't even shed one tear.

But now, alone in her dreams, Linda sobbed in her sleep, her heart broken and hopes crushed.

Two years she had wasted on that man, thinking he would be the one she would marry, thinking he was the perfect man. A gentleman, someone who respected her and saw her as his equal. Oh how wrong she had been. Were all men just skirt chasing jerks after all?

Bad was fast asleep. It must have been mighty uncomfortable sleeping on that small, shabby sofa. But at least there was peace because the constant bickering between the two had stopped. It must have been Linda's restlessness or perhaps the sound of thunder that disturbed his sleep. He could hardly open his eyes but from what he could make out in the dim light, Linda was fidgeting around or was it the nightmare from a traumatic accident. The sheet was off her and instead on the lay the ground. He became slightly concerned.

"Now what's the matter?" He yawned and stood up. He searched his way across, bent down and picked up the sheet. Then moved toward her and carefully spread the sheet over her.

"The water is in the fridge if you need but we do not keep sleeping pills here." He whispered rubbing his eyes "And there is nothing to worry about you are safe now. Ok!" he tried to comfort her as best as he could. Bad then turned back and moved awkwardly across to his place. He then dumped himself on the sofa and quickly regained the depths of sleep.

The storm continued all night, driving the boat to the middle of the ocean; the two occupants inexperienced an unaware of the trouble lying ahead of them. Eventually the rain stopped and the clouds began showing cracks through which dawn broke.

"Haa!" Linda gasped, jolting upright on the bed. It took her a moment to realize where she was. "So it was real..." she whispered, looking over to the nearby clock and noticing it was a little passed 3am. She had hoped it had all been a nightmare, much like the ones she had just woken from, but no... Looking over at the man sleeping in the corner, she knew that it hadn't been a dream at all. She really had nearly drowned. "It feels like I did." she groaned, still gasping for breath from the horrible nightmares she had been having.

Standing up, she pulled herself off the bed, too scared to go back to bed after the dreams she'd been having, both about her breakup and her near death experience. It was too stressful for her to deal with. Grabbing her baggy guy shorts by the waist band, she quietly made her way over to the refrigerator and opened it up. The light from the frig eliminated the dark room and she could better see Bad sleeping on the sofa. Seeing him trying to adjust to the small couch, Linda felt a little bad about hogging the bed. It's not like she was very big, and the bed was a king size, she could have easily shared. Still, there was too much bad blood between them, ever since that time she had told him off for hitting on her.

It wasn't that she didn't find Bad attractive, if anything she thought he was very good looking. The problem was his personality. He was the type of guy she despised. A player. The love 'em and leave 'em type. As soon as he'd started hitting on her, she knew he was interested in only one thing, and Linda refused to be another notch on his bedpost. Because of this, they had gotten off on a bad start and things had only progressively gotten worse over the years.

"All men are pigs!" she shook her head, walking back to her bed after drinking some water.

Soon the sky began clearing up and the morning sun peaked through the clouds. Just another routine day at the sea but for Bad and Linda this was going to bring the realization of the shock. They had drifted far away from the shore and without any of the sophisticated navigation equipment, it was nearly impossible they could find a way back. Add to it the differences between the two and the limited amount of food and drink they had left it would be a miracle if they survived a few days. However, luck was on their side. Back on the shore their class mates had already approached the coast guards for help. If they could just hang in their for a few days they would be rescued!

But hanging in there was the problem because there was only so much space in a boat. They could not possibly avoid each other for long, especially if it came down to sharing meals and duties. As of now Bad was dead asleep and showed no signs of coming alive any time soon whereas Linda, ignorant of what lied ahead, had her other thing on her mind.

Linda woke up early in morning, and headed straight for the refrigerator, drinking more water. She was still a little shaken from her experience from the previous day. Her dreams of course had not made things any better, but that was passed, at the moment all she wanted was to get back to shore, and maybe back home. She was tired of this all and just needed to put the experience behind her. Little did she know, things were only going to get worse.

It was late morning when Bad eventually got up. However, he had no plans to begin the day as yet. Finding the bed empty he swiftly moved across and dumped himself on it. Linda was nowhere to be seen, she was probably upstairs enjoying the after-rain sun. Bad couldn't care less as he was still indulged in sleep and now he had the comfy bed at his disposal. Besides it would not be long before Linda came down bothering him again, he thought. He put one pillow under his head and grabbed the other in his arms. A loud yawn and he resumed his nap. Obviously he still had no idea of the gravity of the situation they were in.
