Aber

Standing on the crest of the large hill, Afon watched the sun setting, moment by moment. In the distance, the loud cries of battle echoed off the surrounding trees, rocks and air all around her.

High on the hill, she had a clear view of the sun setting and a great sadness filled her.

Sunsets never pleased her, as they reminded her of the ending of her old life and the banishment into this one.

The great sounds of the battle brought her to this hill, mourning her own loss and the loss of all the lives from yet another battle, as humans fought against humans.

Lives setting and seeing their last moments as the world sees the end of the day.

Blowing in the light breeze, the hood and cloak she always has worn, sways softly from it.

Here she doesn't have to worry about the stares and gossip and fear that her presence always seems to invoke in humans.

The setting sun reflects the luminous hidden gold in her eyes, giving away that Afon is not human, but here, alone, safe, she never has to worry about that.

Necessary walks into town to gather supplies and food are the times she does have to worry, and is why she has worn this cloak for thousands of years, simply repairing it over and over as it ages with a simple twist of her power.

_____________________________________________________

Memories of the past flow through her mind at times like this, especially with the golden glow of the sunset and the myriad of colors across the sky.

Afon remembers the time when she lived as and amongst the Gods as the Minor Goddess of healing and wisdom.

Journeying to the temple of peaceful monks, she had hurried that time, to save as many as she could from the attack of yet another lustful and vengeful army of humans, slaughtering every one and everything they could in sight.

Sadly, at the same time, unknown to her was the great God of Creation's son, Bel in battle against the forces of chaos and was mortally wounded. Brought back to the home of the gods dying, The Great God Brenin and The Great Goddess Rhianon, screaming for her to come immediately to heal their son.

As Afon was busy saving and healing as many monks as she could, the son of the Gods, Bel, died in his mother and father's arms.

Returning from her desperate journey to help the monks, she remembers the horrid ominous feeling in the air around her.

Walking into the great hall, she saw the Brenin, the God of Creation and Rhiannon, the Goddess of Creation, hunched over their deceased son, Bel.

Horror struck her as Brenin looked deeply and piercingly at her and through her with pain, agony, mourning, hate and rage.

The Rhiannon wouldn't even raise her head from holding her son, as the golden tears of the Goddess flowed down her cheeks.

Shaking ominously from the sound of his voice, the entire city of the gods was struck, "WHERE WERE YOU?!" the Great God accusingly asked her, almost frothing violently at the mouth. "WHERE WERE YOU, WHILE MY SON LAY HERE DYING AND IS NOW DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU?!"

Falling to the ground between collapsing and begging for forgiveness at the horror that struck her, the golden tears began to flow down Afon's face, "I am so sorry Brenin. I am so sorry. I didn't know." as she lay there crumpled on the floor before him.

"WHAT KIND OF GODDESS ARE YOU THAT TENDS TO HUMANS WHILE MY SON LAYS DYING? IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU HE IS DEAD! YOU ARE UNWORTHY TO BE A GODDESS AT ALL OR EVER BATH IN THE RADIANCE OF OUR CITY. YOU ARE BANISHED FROM HERE FOREVER AND YOU WILL GO AND LIVE WITH THOSE HUMANS YOU LOVE SO MUCH MORE THAN YOUR OWN KIND!"

With those words, simple really, as she remembers, the sudden shifting of space and time as her body was being rejected from the realm of the Gods and took a solid consistent form.

The very same form she has today after so many thousands of years.

The Vortex, the gate way to the realm where only the Gods may enter, she can still see, as she looks into the setting sun, just as clearly as she remembers it that day upon being cast out of the realm of the Gods.

The cries grow louder from the battle as it heats up and peaks. Afon can feel the passing on of their life energy, bringing her out of her memories and into this day and the setting sun, away from the forever distant vortex and towards the cries of battle.

Leaning down to pick up her basket full of medicinal herbs she had gathered from the forest that she lives on the edge of, Afon heads towards the sounds of the battle.

Knowing the battle will be over soon.

After the battle has finished, she will look for survivors and see what she can do for them.

Cai

1252xj9jpg.png

It was all over.

Cai could feel his heart hammering against his chest as he slowly opened his eyes, his breathing slowly shallow. Craning his neck, the young man glanced out over the field, the waning sun casting shadows across the grassy expanse. He could see the bodies...hundreds of corpses strewn across the field, shattered and maimed. They're soulless gazes sent a chill down the young soldier's back, and he knew that if a miracle didn't happen soon then he was going to be joining them. Trying to ignore the wounds on his broken body, the young man slowly rolled over onto his stomach, wincing as a sudden bolt of pain shot through his form. Gripping at the blood-stained grass, he began to pull, dragging himself across the eerily quiet field. Cai tried to avert his gaze each time he passed by one of the bodies, tried not to look into their eyes. They barely even looked human now...almost like those porcelain dolls his sister used to play with. And then there was the smell, a putrid mess that made his stomach squirm. Why hadn't any of the stories mentioned the smell...? There was the blood as well, oh god it was everywhere...t-this wasn't how it was supposed to happen. Was he really going to die this way? Alone, on some blasted battlefield in the middle of nowhere? He had promised his father that he would prove himself, and now here he was.

As the young man pitifully dragged himself across the shattered land, distant memories began to crawl back into his head. Even though he was at death's door, Cai couldn't help but recall the traces of joy he felt as he left his home, the castle. Only his brother knew of what he had planned, of how he wanted to become a soldier. He had read the stories of them in the library. They had spoken of knights in gleaming armor, slicing through the wicked enemy. Their victory was always a sure one, and then they would come home to a hero's welcome. One part in particular had always caught his eye. The King would be there, and the books had always mentioned of how he would be wearing a warm smile. The man would treat the soldiers as equals, with both kindness and respect. He wouldn't look down on them, wouldn't treat them like a stupid annoyance.

Exhaustion was slowly starting to creep into Cai's bones now and with a grimace the boy rolled over onto his back, his chest slowly rising and falling as he attempted to catch his breath. I should have seen it coming, he chided himself, I should have listened to Griffin. His brother had always been the smarter one. He had tried to warn Cai as he left the castle, had tried to warn him that he'd end up getting himself killed. The elder brother ignored him, and continued on his way. He had arrived at the recruiting office with only his clothes on his back, and it had only taken a few minutes for everything to be sorted out. Soon he had been given his own tattered uniform, navy and emerald stripes running down it. The colors of his kingdom. And alongside that, a long spear...the metal tip rusty from what had to have been months of prior use. Now, as he laid dying, Cai could only wonder who the poor soul who's corpse it was taken from. Were they going to do the same here...? Sweep in, take the weapons, and leave the bodies to rot? Ugh...

"...dammit,"

He gingerly rolled over again, clasping at the dirt with his bloodstained hands. Trying to ignore the stabbing pains, the dying prince began to pull himself along the ground once more again...

It was hard to imagine that, only hours ago, his heart had been fluttering in excitement. He had been standing amongst the other soldiers, upon the front lines. The sun had been harsh, and the thick, padded armor he had been wearing hadn't done him any favors. Within minutes, his entire body was drenched in sweat. And yet even that had failed to cripple his mood. The only thing he was actually even thinking of was the battle ahead, and the glory he would win. The events were already playing through his mind...of how he would cut down dozens of the enemy. Of how they would win gloriously. And of how they would return to a cheering crowd. He had pictured his father standing at the front, his normal scowl replaced by a warm, almost joyous smile. He would reach out, gripping Cai's shoulder. "I'm proud," He would say.

...but that didn't happen. He could still remember with sickening clarity of how the battle had actually gone. Cai had watched as his fellow soldiers were cut down, dying like no man should. They screamed and cried as they were slice to bits by the enemy's blades. Cai had tried to block out the screams as he ran across the field, but it didn't work. They just got louder and louder...and he too quickly found himself joining them. As he tried to find his bearings amidst the chaos of the battle, a spear shot out from nowhere. He didn't even have time to dodge the blow, and it quickly struck him. His legs had gone numb, and he hit the ground. The battle raged on without him, and he could only wait as the world faded to black.

And now here he was, struggling to eke out a few final minutes of life. Cai didn't want to die here. His father would never of what he had done. He'd just be another corpse rotting beneath the sun. There would be no glorious return, and his father would never tell him how proud he was. Slowly, the boy came to a stop, closing his eyes. Once again, the darkness was close to claiming him, and he could feel him slowly losing consciousness. The world before him was growing blurry, and the realization was slowly setting in.

He was going to die, and no one was going to grieve...

RE: Aber (WhiteTiger& WalrusesInMyKitchen)

Walking at a steady and strong pace, Afon felt the battle ending faster than she had first thought.

Sadly, keeping pace, she was focused on getting there as fast as she could.

So many life energies had yet again past in this battle, she doubted anyone but the victor survived.

The sun almost completely set, and a chill in the air rising, it took Afon close to the sun dial of what would equal an hour to arrive.

Slowing, her pace, the brutal massacre became more clear as Afon drew closer.

Sadness filled her being as she continued her pace, drawing ever more close to the carnage.

The smell and feel of blood and death filled her small nose.

Choosing to climb up a close hill to gain perspective of the entire place of battle, instead of walking randomly in, Afon finally reached the top after a short bit.

Below lay a huge battle ground where thousands of men had died, their bodies strewn out across the entire expanse.

Knowing the colors of this country she had chosen to live in for now to be of gold and red, immediately she saw that it was the invading army that had lost, garnishing the colors of blue and emerald green.

Closing her human body's eyes, Afon looked and felt with the eyes of a goddess across the field.

Clarity of view was easier this way to gather the energy, information and to look for any survivors.

None appeared to have survived.

Sadly, she walked down the crest of the hill, and into the carnage of battle.

Bloodied and mutilated bodies laied where they fell, across the once green field, now the color of blood.

The Vultures flew over the scene, riding the air currents, ready to descend and begin their feast.

Knowing the way of nature and being at peace with that, she did not interfere, as that is the way of life's cycle.

Midway through the horror, Afon caught a glimpse of movement but where it came from she could not tell, as it had been so small.

Closing her human eyes once more, she felt and probed deeper into the energies left on the field and suddenly felt the light flicker of a heart beat.

Like a candle about to be extinguished because the flame is so low, she knew his time was close also.

He was the last and only one to survive the battle from his army and live this long.

Clearly, the exact location and appearance of him flashed before her closed eyes.

Quickly, Afon rushed to the side of the dying soldier before her as he lay on the ground after what looked like he had been crawling for a while.

Collapsed from the large wound in his upper stomach, she knew this was not a good sign.

So much blood had been lost already from the damage to that area, but she felt his life force holding on to the end.

Quickly descending to her knees, she turned his dying body so she could asses him as fast as possible, to see, if anything, what can be done.

Drawing her athame, the double edged dagger she used for cutting and working with the medicinal herbs she grew and gathered, Afon cut open the foot soldiers uniform.

Thankful that there was no chain mail involved, chain mail always carried a double edge, like her dagger.

The lack of it made it that much easier for her to get to the wound.

Wearing the Chain mail would have lessened the damage but would have made it so much more difficult for her to access.

Large, penetrating and jagged, the would was difficult to see clearly through so much blood loss.

Whispering to him, using the energy of the voice and sound vibration to be the vehicle to calm the stress and shock the soldier had gone into, she said, "Ssshhh young warrior and solder, I am here and I will do my best to save you."

So low were his blood levels and blood pressure, that the energy she gave him temporarily filled his veins with the golden energy of the Goddess as a substitute for his blood and worked its way though his system.

Higher and stronger his blood pressure returned as this temporary method of sustaining him also gave her information she needed and the depth and severity of his wounds.

Thrown from a distance, a spear had pierced this young foot soldier's upper stomach, but he was lucky.

Had the same spear been thrown and closer range, It would have run through him and he would have met death long ago already.

Strong again for the moment his heart gained momentum and her vital fluid substitute had also sealed the leaking and ripped damage, stopping the bleeding, for now.

Now stabilized, Afon looked around for a way to transport him back to her home by the woods.

Walking amongst the dead, she gathered eight spears.

At the side of the soldier, she laid them and returned to look for strips of leather and a large piece of cloth.

Removing the pieces she needed from the remnants of the soldiers weapons.

Only their flag, long fallen seemed to be large enough and strong enough to be of service for what she needed.

Breaking the heads off the spears and lashing four spears together at a time, making two long strips of strong yet flexible wood, she then bound the flag between them securing it tightly, making a hand made gurney.

Laying it down she spread it out next to the soldier and carefully and slowly rolled him onto it, his body facing upward.

Lifting the remaining lengths of wood, with the soldier securely resting in the middle, Afon then began the slow walk home, pulling and dragging him behind her.

Close to the very middle of the night hours, she finally made it home with him.

Laying him down, she opened her door and pulled him into her small, neat cottage.

Always keeping a small bed ready to board lost or wayward travelers for an evening every now and then, she pulled him up to it and laid him aside it.

From behind she lifted him and carefully placed him on the bed, feet last.

Using her flint rock she lit the kindling and worked the fire in her hearth until there was a nice warm fire going with plenty of wood stacked to the side.

Nicely lit, she now, with respect, finished removing his clothes and set to boil some water she drew from her well.

Boiling hot, she set it on a small table at the side of the unconscious soldier, for her energy flowing within him also granted deep sleep and no pain.

Washing and cleaning his wound and then his body, she than began the detailed inspection of his wound.

Both his stomach and liver were damaged and torn.

Allowing her own energy with a word again, "Be clean", the water completely purified from her energy and she began the process of opening him up and sewing the wounds back together with her needles..

Working from the inside out, she repaired and sanitized his ripped liver and stomach and finished up on the ragged, torn tissue of his abdomen.

Knowing it was completely sanitized, she took in a deep breath to relax from concentrating for so many hours.

Allowing him to keep the flow of his false blood temporarily from her essence, Afon pushed herself away from him and stood up and stretched.

Covering him modestly, and resting her hand on his forehead, she felt his life force at peace.

Standing up, exhausted, She made her way towards her own bed to rest.

No matter how hungry she felt, the sweet bliss of sleep called to her more as she kept her cloak and hood on and crawled into her own bed and fell deeply into the dreams of a bound Goddess.

RE: Aber (WhiteTiger& WalrusesInMyKitchen)

The throne was quiet as Cai entered, there not being a single soul aside from his pale-faced father, the man's beady eyes following the young prince as he made his way inside. A slight chill ran through the body as he approached the opulent throne, an odd hint of hesitation causing him to freeze for a moment. The old man's gaze wasn't the friendly sort, and instead was nearly as cold as ice. Even from where he stood, Cai could sense the discontent swirling about in the king, with even a couple of hints of anger mixed in. He wasn't proud of his son's recent actions, Cai could tell with a bit of dread. His stomach was squirming as he kneeled before the king, a sharp, unexplainable, aching causing him to grimace. It was nervousness, he told himself. He had gone from Hell and back, all to win the man's favor. And yet, judging from the sour expression he wore, apparently even that was not enough.

"Boy," Muttered the king, not even bothering to act as though the young man kneeling before him bore the same blood as he. He tapped at the arm of the throne as he glanced over the prince, eying the bruises and scratches dotting his battered form, "...tell me, why did you make a fool out of me? You sneak out of the castle, take on the guise of a common man, and all for what? To garner a bit of glory?" His frown grew as he leaned forward, eyes narrowing at the prince. Hands trembling in a silent rage, he slowly pulled his ailing body up from the throne, and approached his kneeling son, "How am I supposed to trust one who does not even respect his own elders? Perhaps I truly was foolish, for believing that a sorry excuse such as you could even meet my expectations," The volume of his voice had raised by now, the man nearly shouting. Cai could feel himself recoiling at the barrage of cruel words, his own body trembling as his hopes at making amends with his father slowly crumbled. He didn't know what to do, what to say. He had tried everything to become loved by the king, and yet even now he found himself coming up short. Was this the way it was supposed to be...? Treated like trash by his own father? He felt like crumpling to the floor, to wallow in his own self-pity. And yet, something deep within the prince refused to give in, refused to allow himself to be treated like this by his very own kin. He had fought long and hard, had seen friends die, and had witnessed the horrors of war. He was not going to be treated in a such a manner, and by a man who probably hadn't experienced half the things he had at that!

"Father, I-" And yet, the spark was quickly extinguished as the King struck him, the sudden pain causing Cai to cry out. He fell back, hitting the tile floor, silent tears running down his face. He could hear what sounded like almost laughter coming from the King, and before he had the chance to gather his bearings the man slammed the tip of his boot into Cai's side. His entire body exploded in pain, the wounds he had been bearing before the meeting only adding to intensity. Cai tried to bear it, tried to keep his mouth shut as his father continued the rabid attack. He didn't want to yell out anymore and look like even more of a fool, nor did he want the man to see him crying either. He had gone so far...and yet here he was, being beaten like a slave. Were all the trials beforehand meaningless? The lives he had ended during the war, the grisly scenes that had been etched into his mind...it really was all pointless, wasn't it? He wasn't going to get any higher, he wasn't going to gain his father's respect. Cai really was going to die as a sad excuse for a human.

The pain was overwhelming, and through tear-filled eyes he could see his father still going at it. The laughter was nearly maniacal now, to the point of where it no longer even sounded like it was coming from the stony-faced man who was his father. That frown had quickly withered away as well, to be replaced by a grin that could only be called psychotic. "Your worthless!" Snarled the man, digging his boot deeper into the boy's side again and again, "Worthless, worthless, worthless..."

"...worthless, worthless, worthless," Whispered Emyr as he paced back and forth, his gaze occasionally flickering towards the unconscious woman on the bed. Years before, her beauty had been spoken of across the country. A rose, people described her as. Lovely features, matched only by her sharp tongue. And yet, within days, both traits had shriveled up, and the only thing that remained was a withered flower slowly fading away. She had just given birth to a healthy girl, though the act itself had taken a toll on the woman's already fragile form. The only thing the King could do was just watch as his love slowly passed from his world. Turning his attention away from his wife for a moments being, the man looked towards towards the six-year old boy standing besides the bed. His bright eyes were staring the pale woman, a look of confusion crossing his timid features. He didn't understand what was happening, how the woman he knew as his mother was about to die. Emyr almost envied that kind of ignorance, the type that only a child could hold.

"Boy,"

The child turned about, looking towards his father with that same doe-eyed expression. He showed signs of trouble, disturbed at his mother's sickness, yet still failed to seemingly comprehend what was really at stake here. "Leave us," Spoke the king, the boy slow nodding before making his way out of the room. Looking back towards his wife, the man approached her, and reaching out took hold of her delicate hand. He could feel the life beating within her still, though it was quickly disappearing. Getting quieter...and quieter...and quiet...until-

"...ugh!"
Cai awoke with a start from the dream as a sharp pain swept through his gut, a feverish haze having descended upon his mind. And yet, even in his sad state, the boy was quick to realize that something was wrong. His bare skin had goosebumps running down it as he uneasily glanced back and forth through the strange surroundings, aware of how he had been stripped of both his cloths and weapons. The vulnerability weighed heavily on him, and if it hadn't been for the deep pain in his gut he would've tried to make an escape. "...hello?" He whispered weakly, blinking a few times in an attempt to clear his vision.

RE: Aber (WhiteTiger& WalrusesInMyKitchen)

Creeping in, the light worked it's way through the cracks in the door way and the curtained windows of her cottage.

Covering her eyes, as a single beam from the doorway honed in on her face.

Rubbing them, Afon then pushed her self up to gather her bearings.

Sleeping the deepest she had in a long time, it took a bit to recall the events as they had occurred and remember what was happening now.

Late in the day, by the positions of the beams of light, she looked over to the sleeping soldier and then sat up on her small bed and placed her feet on the ground.

Stretching high and tall, she brought her arms down with a sudden drop as she forced herself to stand up.

Feeling physically drained still from the distance and the load she bore the previous day, she opened the curtains for what was left of the day.

Long gone out, the fire still smoldered in the hearth, she threw a couple of more logs on to feed the embers within.

Crouching low, as she added more kindling and pushed it in with her her iron poker to tease and invite out the embers still hot.

Catching on, the kindling began smoking on the edges and a starter flame began.

Working with the fire a bit longer, she was able to get it going good again and stood up and pushed her hood back.

Tangled from sleep, her long straight black hair resisted her fingers as she ran them through it.

Peeking to make sure the young man was still sleeping, she pulled out her mirror and brushed her hair thoroughly, ending by pulling it into a braid that fell down her back.

Looking into the mirror, she looked at her face a while longer, seeing the circular patterned markings beautifully decorated her already tan skin.

Nothing more that the product of accentuated skin pigmentation, they were the marks of divinity incarnate.

Wrinkles from the night's sleep crumpled up her cloak and she now brushed it out, straightening it with firm quick swipes over her small frame.

Being much stronger that she looked was always an advantage.

Walking over, she then checked the soldiers wounds and feel his forehead.

Ghostly pale from lack of blood his heart still beat strong but she could feel the presence of infection was already digging its claws into his system as his forehead was getting hot.

Knowing what needed to be done, she had to let him sleep enough to make more of his own blood but not too long, for the infections could take him next.

Returning her mirror and brush to their hiding spot under her mattress, she pulled on her hood and grabbed a change of clothes, going out to the adjacent building where she kept all her medicinal plants for her private garden, she washed up and redressed into a simple pair of boys two legged trousers and a full length unisex tunic.

Each trip into town she made, she always planned well in advance to make sure she had plenty of supplies, food and clothing.

Partial only to her cloak she always wore, clothing in general didn't matter as much as practicality and usually purchased boys clothes ready made because she hated making her own clothes and were easily enough to find as her build was so slight and delicate.

She carried nothing with her from there, as all the medicines she would need were already tucked away and stored in a dry corner of her cottage in a specially made table and drawers that she used for preparing and keeping them.

The sun showered her and a breeze blew off her hood as she walked out into the setting day.

Quickly returning it to its place, she walked back into her cottage again and prepared a meal from her well stocked provisions.

Even with two in the house, there would be plenty for the remaining fall and the harsh winter to come.

Lifted, the remainders of her mind pushed away any fog from her deep sleep and ate a meal of porridge, jarred fruit and some dried meat.

Knowing that upon regaining consciousness, he would need a large amount of specific foods to help him regain his strength and rebuild his blood, she would have to acquire some fresh meat for a while, if in supply.

In town, she had secretly formed a deal with a local vendor to sell her medicines and special deserts she loved making.

Though paying large fee for such services from him as a middle man, she made more than enough to buy what ever she needed.

Soon, she would need to walk there and buy some fresh meat for him as he should be wakened by the following morning to begin administering the medicines to him, which were vital with this infection setting in.

Putting her dishes, to the side, knowing she would wash them soon, she sat on the edge of the youth's bed, as it will be his bed for some time to come.

Focusing, she closed her eyes and with drew part of her energy back into her and out of him, which would force his body to start making more blood.

Lightening his sleep and increasing his pain a bit, this was necessary for him to rebuild his own health and strengthen his body to fight the infection along with her medicines, the kind she never told a soul about or sold in town.

Opening her eyes, she felt him stir slightly as the pain began to seep it's way into his dreams, but was able to sleep a little longer.

Immediately, she felt a rise in his body temperature and it confirmed that he absolutely must be woken up by the following morning.

Pulling out the necessary medicines from the store case under her preparation table and placed them on top, she stood up once more.

Two in all, she would be giving him.

From the secretions of a very small life form, she produced plenty of pale yellow crystals, once added to the right amount of water, he would need to drink 4 times a day.

The soft, malleable dark resin like substance from the tears harvested by scratching the under developed seed pods of a flower from the far east, was the other one that she would soften and mix with a few other ingredients, forming a paste, he would need to easy the intense pain he will endure and also help him rest.

Keeping them sealed, just ready on the top, Afon began her daily activities, in maintaining the house and stocking the wood and kindling, washing her dishes and packed up and headed into town to purchase the fresh meat he would require.

Keeping her head bowed, she cautiously approached the town.

Travelers into and out of town were already staring and whispering to each other, but she was used to it.

Circling around the back, where no one could see her, she knocked the code on the merchants back door.

As the door opened, he hesitantly asked her what she needed.

"Thank you again for all the kindness you do good sir." she replied and then continued, "I would like to know if there is a vendor available selling fresh meat and if you could point me in the right direction."

Looking both ways before speaking, he told her which vendor and where he could be found.

Setting quickly, she had to hurry before the shop closed up and made it just in time. With disgust and fear, the vendor asked, "What do you want?"

Replying in a small voice, "I was wondering if would be alright if I purchased some of your fine fresh meat good sir.

I will pay what ever you ask."

Upon hearing this, his attitude changed a bit, temporarily as greed overwhelmed his disgust and fear.

He would charge her ten times what he charges the regular customers and named his price.

Opening up her money purse, she paid the man what he asked no questions asked, even though she knew the truth and headed back with the wrapped and cut meats from the a young male bull, sheep, deer and pig.

Carrying this rather large load, again showed the benefits of her hidden strengths as the sun finished setting on her during the walk home.

The fire still lightly lit, she opened the door to her cottage and laid the meats down and walked over, putting more logs on the fire.

As the day comes tomorrow, she will clean out her fire place, she thinks to herself.

Even these meats will need preservation an sets aside tomorrow's portion and got the variety of meats ready and finished the first stages of the process of preserving them as the night drew on.

During the winter, she will move the chickens she raises, as usual into the same building where she keeps her plants growing, as she always keeps it warmer in there, despite the temperatures out side, with just a small bit of help from her power.

Even a Goddess needs to follow the laws of nature or will suffer the consequences of the energy exchange.

Being a force and source of that nature, she is even more intertwined or even more severe consequences will fall upon her.

Cleaning up after herself, and picking up the cottage, Afon then went to bed, crawling under her blanket and falls asleep listening to the winds out side from the now, one again, curtained windows and the crackling of the fire.

Waking early, she repeated the same process as the day before in getting ready.

In the past, present and in the future, this is her regular routine.

Walking over to the the young warrior, she again sits next to him again.

Growing stronger by the minute, she knows she has no time to waist as she feels his forehead and cleans and replaces the bandages over his wound.

Soon he must wake up and begin the treatment of her medicines.

Closing her eyes, she withdraws the rest of her energy from him and shortly after feels his heart rate increase, but enough time has passed and he has managed to make a bit more blood and will be alright with out it.

Waiting is now what she must do, for him to awaken as she walk over to her table and out of habit, double checks the containers of medicine.

Standing up, she then goes outside to gather what is left from her small harvest to prepare and store for the coming winter and to gather eggs from her chickens.

Outside the air is crisp and clean, as the Autumn wind blows her cloak, filling her with open peace and happiness as her baskets are laden with the fruits of her labor.
