Covert Revulsion

Guest
The kingdom was at a time of sincerity and calmness. The recent War had ended two years ago, and everyone was at ease going about their routines. There was no famine, plague, and may the Lord himself bid away such evilness that posed a threat to the human population. Disease wasn't something uncommon in any parts, but to her relief, Lady Anna De Leon had never been afflicted with such diseases, neither her family. She dwelled within a large, prosperous estate. Foliage radiated underneath the sun, setting up a gentle and lovely aroma of roses, jasmine, and lavender mixed into the light, spring wind. The house was large, three stories with a few towers leading to hidden rooms. The house often resembled a small castle, which many guests admired at this. It provided many rooms for those choosing to visit. Anna recognized every single room since she enjoyed occupying them from time to time, besides her own bedroom.

Yet, when she wasn't inside, she occupied herself with forms of recreation. Other then reading, learning from her tutor, and failing to accomplish a major skill in embroidery. Which to her disdain was found mandatory for any Lady of her age of seventeen. She managed to sneak upon horseback, she admired the loveliness of mother nature herself, traveling through the forest considered their grounds. Anna enjoyed identifying such foliage as flowers and trees. Her passion not only lay with nature, but with dancing as well. What captivated her the most had to be the dances she had seen gypsy women dance to. Anna longed to learn how to dance in such way, hips moving in such a sensual, captivating way that a traveling band had taught her, and she had successfully learned.

Her countenance was one she admitted to thanking her deceased mother and her living father. She had oval shaped face, a slim nose, thin brow, finely shaped lips of pink, with eyes of a gentle, warm hazel. Her tresses were a dark brown and reached just below her shoulder. She wore a faint yellow colored dress, which was easy to move with, but lovely at the same time. She was spending her time this noon outside under the shade of the Ash tree's that grew. She enjoyed the fresh air, petting a hound of her father that lay at her feet. In all honestly, she disliked the restriction in today's society for women, but to her relief, her father allowed her to have her own independence, finding that a strong woman would bear strong children. It amused her that she had such a father as he, but she was ever so thankful.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

There wasn't much that the knight could say about himself. He was nothing more than your average warrior. He was tall with much definition to his musculature thanks to the heavy plate armor that came with his position. Dark, raptor's eyes bored into any that dared look upon his whiskered face. There was a brutality about him that came with too much blood on too many battlefields, yet, there was one that could draw out that long forgotten kindness and tenderness that dwelled deep in his soul.

She was a fair one she was and his heart pined away for her like a starving dog for a morsel of meat. He was hopelessy in love with her but yet, was forced to court her in secret. Her father would never allow a knight of no standing to marry such a dainty beauty.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

Her thoughts drifted to the knight... her sweet and loving knight. He was the one that had captured her heart, and she felt smitten with him. Despite his rugged look, he held her heart in his calloused hands, keeping her warm and with a feeling that sent her above the clouds. She smiled to herself at the thought of him, though it saddened her, her father disapproved, he likely would find it odd that she would fall for a knight. Nevertheless, he would prefer she married someone close to a high ranking noble or duke. Anna exhaled a sigh of faint annoyance. She slowly stood, walking along the garden with intent to return back into the estate. She would wait until her knight was sent off-duty before she had a chance at seeing him.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

The knight went to a knee before Anna's father. His heart beat in his chest wildly, like an animal trying valiantly to free a cage. Why would the lord call such a low knight before him except that he knew of his courting? There was nothing he could do but take the blame and punishment. He swallowed and cleared his throat before speaking. "You summoned me, sire?"

Anna's father looked down at him, scowling greatly. "A report has reached my ears knight. I do not like what I have heard. You've been slipping in your duties." True, he couldn't stop thinking about his beloved Anna. It got him in trouble. A lot. "As of now, you're relieved of your duties for a week with no pay. Come back ready to work double upon your return. Leave me."

Rathyn muttered a hasty 'Yes sire' before getting up, bowing, and making a hasty retreat. A week off! More time to spend with Anna but it was without pay. There was no way in the world he was going to make ends meet without his weekly pay. His mind was so muddled with thoughts that he felf their very weight pressing down around him. "Damn..."

Anna had then be summoned by one of her maids, whom informed that she needed to practice more on her embroidery. She stifled showing any signs of annoyance, didn't they understand there wasn't much hope for her in embroidery? Yet, as a good Lady should, she agreed nonetheless, and followed the maid to the room. Everyone seemed to brighten up at the appearance of the Lady of the house, but Anna was well aware they behaved as such merely because they would hide the disdain of needing to focus more on her work instead of theirs. Anna sat down quietly, and began.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

Rathyn was a thunderhead of bad spirits and foul countenance as he slowly made his way to the barracks to remove his plate mail armor. The sword he kept on him at all times, it was a friend as well as a weapon. With each removed piece of armor, the knight brushed his knuckles affectionately across the polished silver. A knight's armor was his lifeline, the one thing he could always trust to keep him safe from harm. Without it, he felt rather odd.

Retrieving his bag from the cot, Rathyn made his way to the small shack that he lived in when off duty. There wasn't much to it. The decorations were sparse, a chair, a table, a beatdown bed. It was kept clean as a whistle but that didn't take away from the grunginess of the house. He'd fought to keep the kingdom from claiming it as land to be built upon. It was his home, no matter the level of grunginess. Outside his dirty window, the sun was starting to recede into the sky.

Rathyn stood and strapped on his sword. He had a rendevous with Anna.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

After moments of being pricked and wincing at doing so, the stiches she had made were pretty decent. But Anna was relieved to relieve herself of such burden as embroidery. She managed to slip away, heading outside to the courtyard, where she intended to meet with Rathyn. She moved away from any of those that would intervene with going to meet with her knight. She walked out of the large doors, and eased towards the courtyard. Once arriving, she made sure to remain hidden. The sun already began to set... but she didn't mind.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

There wasn't much problem with the knight getting onto the castle grounds. He knew them as if he had designed them himself, it was all to simple to sneak past the guards on duty. The ladies-in-waiting were of no consequence; they were much to scatterbrained and flirtatious towards the knights to notice one passing by their midst. Rathyn was nothing more than a silent shadow.

As he approached the garden where they were to meet, Rathyn slowed down, crouching low to peek through the bushes. The last thing he wanted to do was walk up on someone he didn't want to.

Re: [Covert and Raphael] The love of a Lady for her Knight

The approaching darkness settled a chilly air to those outside. Anna hated to admit but the mantle she wore was too light for outside. She slowly began to walk back and forth, wary of stepping on anything that would make noise. Her steps met with the moss of the forest ground, cushioning her footfalls. She inhaled deeply, crossing her arms slowly as she closed her eyes for a moment. She counted in her head to pass the time, glad that other ladies were probably occupying the attention of maids who wouldn't pay much mind to her, likely believing she was minding her own business.
