Blake Summors, a rising star within local law firms of the big city. The typical top of his class at law school, and never lost a case. Only one case away from the envied spot of prosecuter. But after work, he had a different type of life. Instead of defending the accused, he captures them. Under the identity of Brood Carapice, the town hero. After an ufortunate accident, he gained the ability to grow enamal like growths from beneath his skin. His entire body gets covered in them, making a type of armor. At first it was out of control, but he learned to control over the years. He was granted with gifts such as non human speed, and became very skilled in Martial arts.

But doing his job became a little bit harder , as now more and more of the culprits he caught, he had to defend in court. Until finally his most persistant enemy was his new client. A super villianess, that seemed to always elude his grasp until now. But he had no time to celebrate as the second in command at the lawfirm ordered him to defend. Losing this case would get him fired, he might be the town hero, but he couldn't afford being unemployed

So there he stood, his short blonde hair neatly combed, his green eyes glassy and bright, his face cleanly shaven as he stood infront of the court in his best suit. He looked perfectly alright with this, but he was dieing inside, standing next to his masked enemy , now client. "Your honer, I demand a mistrial. Looking over the so called evidence I have realized that my client _____ has been denied of her rights. The vigilante, Brood Carapace has performed an illegal citizens arrest, and the arresting officer did not read her, her rights. Also, the security video only shows what happened after the 'crimes' that were committed. There is absolutly no evidance that she attempted theft of the said Diamond on exibit."

The prosecuter rose to his feet. "Objection!" Before he could state his reasons, the elderly judge gave out a labored sigh. "Overruled, Mr. Summors is correct. Unfortunatly there is not enough evidance to carry on a trail. Also with the questionable capture of the defendant, there is simply no means to carry a trial. It burdens me to say that ____ is free to go"

Blake hung his head and sighed as everyone filed out of the courtroom, he can't believe who he let back out onto the world. He had won the case of the century by a technicallity, but he felt no reason to celebrate. Leaving the courthouse himself, he went to his car, back to work.

Black rose grinned to her self under her mask as the deliberations in the court continued. She knew she would get off. She knew the lawyer, in fact when she wasn't out being a villain, she worked with the guy. she walked out of that court room a free women.

She then dissapeared from sight by jumping onto the rooftops and swiftly making her way back to her place of work. She sneaked back in through the roof entrance and in no time at all she was back to her real self, her name being Leila Anderson, an aspiring young lawyer. She sat at her desk and began to read through a new case she had been assigned to.

When Leila was not out being a pain in the backside of one man called Brood Carapice, she was here, working her day job. She was a women, age 28. She had a feminine figure, long shapely legs, a nice looking but, a slim torso and a generous bust. She had long wavy brown hair and striking green eyes, and rose red lips. She was dressed in a white blouse, a black knee length skirt, heels and a jacket.

She looked up as her now former lawyer walked back into the firm. Leila was more commonly known to the general public as Black Rose, the villain that left a black rose behind at every crime. She was flexible, agile, and fast and ontop of that, she could use a variety of weapons, and change her body to resemble anything she had seen before, even humans. She could also invade the minds of her victims, and drive them insane, tot he point where they were left in a vegetative state.

However those skills were not so useful at work...

Some of Blake's co workers gave him a pat on the back for winning a seemingly impossible case. But he couldn't even slap on a fake smile. He had a feeling, that his boss was onto his identity, it seemd so far that every person he captured he had to defend in court. He did not know what ties his boss might of had with the criminals, but it all seemed to add up. Of course, he did not know that there was a supervillianess in a woman the same position as he in the firm.

He had to make a little visit by Mr Neilson's home tonight to see just what is going on. Of course with Black Rose on the loose, that plan might never happen. Blake recieved a manilla folder, another case? Already? As he looked at the name on it he noticed it was supposed to be Leila's. He got up from his desk, he still had a slight limp from his battle with Black Rose, he really had no way of hiding it. He walked over to her desk and placed the folder there. "They put this on my desk for some reason, here you go"

Leila looked up at Blake and said "Did they, I see then, well thanks for bringing it over" she said smiling at him. She looked through the case file and said "Looks like another petty theft, only this time someone got killed, great" she said with a sigh and putting the folder down on her desk and sipped her coffee.

"Well, at least it's not Black Rose. She's a real...scary up close" He said, changing his sentence halfway into it. He almost let something slip out that he would of regretted but he stopped himself. With a sigh, the turned on his heel and limped off back to his desk, he had to find a way to hide his injuries as well, he knew they would wonder how a lawyer got injured so much for not having any type of social life outside of work. But he didn't want to think about it right now, work was his time off from his other job, of course he realized how pathetic that sounded

Back to work, he told himself as he got on his computer to type up his report on the case. Each keystroke seemed labored as he typed it up.

Leila looked up at him and said "I'd bet...well see you later Blake" she said to him with a smile. She watched as he limped of. She wondered where he'd got hurt. She shrugged it off and sighed and looked back at he case. She highly doubted she;d end up winning this one. She;s just have to pull something out of the evidence. There wasn't much hope for the guy. She sughed and got up to grab her self another coffee.

Finally, the clock ticked the final hour, closing time. Blake sighed as he locked up his desk and shut everything down, time to get back home, eat, and then go to his night job. Despite the fact he never got paid for being the town hero, he always felt obligated to do it, almost as if it were his duty. And he paid the toll, sometimes he'd show up to work with no sleep, or an injury like today. And he always went through the mental strain as well, the countless time

Once he got home, he cooked up something fast. Which happened to be leftover chinese takeout from yesterday. As he waited for it to heat on the microwave, he grabbed the remote, pressing the power button to the TV. News, that's all he wacthjed now, no time for anything else. The loud ding from the microwave informed him his food was ready. He had his meal, while he watched the news, hoping a newsflash didn't pop up about a rampaging criminal, doubtful.

Leila stood up when it came time for her to head home. She bent over and picked up her stuff, and grabbed her bag and coat before she made her way out of the building. She made her way home with a spring in her step. She looked around for a moment before she crossed the street and continued walking. She made her way up into her apartment and walked into the door, putting her keys in a bowl as she walked in.

She walked into the kitchen and grabbed her self some of last nights dinner before she turned the tv onto the news. She didn't plan on doing anything tonight, but it would be interesting to see who had.

Much to his discourse, there suddenly came a live feed of a hostage situation at a fast food resturant. He didn't really see why the guy made such a big fuss over such a small amount of money compared to what he could make compared to say..a bank. None the less he quickly ran out of his house and out onto the alley. Quickly he stripped down to his undergarments,he done this so many times he knew it would rip his clothes. He inhaled deeply as the black enamal growths shot out from underneath his skin. It covered his entire body. The was still a crack in the armor if his right leg where he fought Black Rose.

Withen ten minutes, he made it there, bursting in through the front door. "Get back man! I'll shoot" The skimasked man with a gun said as he pointed the gun to a woman at the cash register. Brood took a step forward and almost vanished as he was now in front of the man's gun. Out of fear the gun went off, the bullet bouncing off Brood's chest. Brood sighed and hit his forearm across the head, knocking the man out. He picked up the man's gun and walked out of the resturant, handing it to the police surrounding the building. Even in his armor his limp was still obvious, and it was all over the news.

Leila sat back on the couch, dinner in hand as she watched the pointless fray. She grinned a little when the news made a bigger deal about the wound she'd given him, then the hold up it self. She watched as he defeated the punk at the restaurant. She smirked putting her legs up. She'd have a night in, give the big brood a break tonight. She flipped the channel and continued to eat. When she was done, she washed up and headed to the shower. Their she enjoyed the water before she dried off and headed of to bed.

The next morning she arrived dressed in clean clothes, looking rather fresh. She sat down at her desk and began to work. She was going to be in court tomorrow, so she had to get her defense ready now.

Brood finally managed to escape the cameras and return to the alley to change back into his normal form. He shuddered as the armor melted back into his skin. The was the only painfull process he had yet to get used to, for some reason, the armor going back in hurt more than coming out. He picked up his clothes which he hid in the dumpster inside an empty trash bag and put themback on. Returning to his home he took a shower and went to bed, glad to finally get a full night's rest.

Upon morning, he returned to work, rather chipper and fresh. No dark circles under his eyes, no five'o clock shadow. Of course he still had the limp, but it seemed he was healing up as it wasn't as obvious this morning. He found a folder on his desk, a new case. This time it wasn't someone he caught, obviously it was an old woman involved in some insurance fraud. This one was going to be easy ,looking at the evidence.

Leila sighed a little as she read the case. She could win, maybe on a technicality, but it would be tough. She groaned a little and drank her coffee down, moving up to her her self another cup of coffee, looking a little agitated as she made her self one with a sigh. She looked in the fridge and found the chocolate cake she had left behind yesterday, she got it out and began to eat it, sighing for a moment.
