Since having gained control over their ability to change the werewolves had found interbreading with other races, particularly humans was easier. As a result such pairings became ever more frequent, to the point where the recessive werewolf genes were in danger of dissapearing all together, and were increasingly difficult to identify with in the community and the number of fully expressed individuals was rapidly dwindling.

The apha males in the community had gathered and commissioned a genetic study to identify females who carried the full compliment of genes. They agreed that each male would seek out and breed with one of these females, and thus reestablish the gene pool. Each male drew a name from the list at random. For many of the males, this was a simple assignment and one that they did with little tought for young girl they were assigned, but for Robert, who not only respected the the need for the gene pool improvemnt but also the old ways of mating this was a difficult assignment. The young woman had no idea what she carried in her body but knew nothing of werewolves, having lost her parents at birth. He had to make her understand who she was and and win her love before her biological clock brought her to estress and the presence of her pheromones would mean their involuntary breeding inevitable were she any wher near him when it occurred. He had just 3 months.

Aurora had to find for herself for most of her life. Her parents were killed when she was just an infant and she had no other family that she knew about to raise her. She was turned over to orphanage but as soon as she was able enough she ran away, finding for herself. She always had a natural instinct to survive, she was not easily defeated and even through all that she still remained a kind hearted young woman.

She was a beautiful woman just turned 19. She had long hair and striking icy blue eyes. her womanly features drove many men wild and if she had less dignity she could use her womanly curves to draw in an income, but she did not let that happen, instead she struggled through. The only peace she found as at time she would sit out in the woods at night and listen to the sounds of wolves howling. She always felt akin to nature and the wolves and she had no idea why. But tonight as the full moon rose above her she was not bothered she just as on a rock in the woods listening.

Robert had gone to the home where he had been told she would be found, but she was not at home. Robert willed himself to change and soon the great Black wolf with yellow eyes stood on the edge of the wood and raised his nose to the air, he could smell her and took off at a run though the forest . As he neared the young girl, he stopped and just looked at her as she sat on the rock. She was beautiful, falling in love with her seemed easy at that moment, but could he make her love him. He knew he had to try. He ran back to where his cllothing lay and changed back, and dressed himself. He then returned to where she sat. He walked up to her quietly and as he approached, said "the moon is beautiful, isnt it?"

Aurora listened to the sounds of the forest. She heard an owl in the distance, it was probably watching for a meal. she felt the night air cool her skin but she did not seem to mind, she looked up at the moon the light bathing her face. As she sat there she heard a sound of footsteps and she quickly jumped from the rock and was now facing a man. "umm, yes it is..." she said to the man trying to be polite but also wondering what he was doing here.

"Don't be afraid", he said " I mean you no harm. " It was easy to see how she might be afraid given his size. he towered over the girl, and was more than twice her weight. It was not unusual for werewolves, but given her situation she had no way of knowing. To her his size was very likely menacing. He tried to speak in a gental and soothing tone. "My name is Robert", he said "the moon light makes you all the more beautiful" he said. He bowed and offered his hand. It wasan old fashioned courtesy but for him as natural as breathing.

Aurora looked at the man before, she had noticed how large he was, not in a way that would be considered overweight, but in a way he was just well built. And in fact had he not just scared her half to death she would likely find him very attractive. However as it was she was out here all alone with this stranger and it was uncomfortable. "Oh well um thank you, but I would love to stay and chat however you can see it is getting dark out and i should probably be getting home" however were he stood was blocking her path.

"Let me walk you then" he said, "you will come to no harm in my presence, on pain of my life." his words were old fashioned, as were his manners, being a full blood werewolf he didnt age but was over 900 years old, and unlike many of the other alpha males had chosen the old ways with all their courtesy.

Aurora was taken back for a moment when he offered to walk her home, she had never been asked that. "Umm no thats ok, you can go back to whatever you were doing out here, I can find my way by myself" She really did have no trouble finding her way, she always able to find her way in the darkness.

"I came to see you", he said "so if I am to continue what I was doing I must walk with you. " He walked along side her. "Do you know your parents?" he asked, "They were my friends, I thought you might want to know who they were." he said as they walked.

Aurora almost just ran away from the man when he said he came to her however when he began speaking of her parents she froze where she was. She knew so little about them, she looked over the man trying to figure out if he was planning some game. "you knew my parents?"

"Yes, and your grand parents as well" he said. He knew that at this moment what he was saying made no sense to her. His body was that of a young man, the age he had been when heh ad first made the change, and he had not aged since.

Aurora just stared at him once again. "what the hell are you talking about, there is no way you knew my family, You would have been just a kid. Why the fuck are you doing this?"

"Have you ever seen me before?" he asked knowing the answer was no. " You have very little that belonged to your family, but one thing I know you have is a medallion with a wolf's head on one side, and on the other side three stars and the full moon, it is solid gold. If you read carefully along its edge is inscribed your family name. It belonged to your father, and your grandfather before him. The inscription says "Lowenlican" check it when you get home. There is only one way I could know that. I was there when your Grandfather gave it to your father, and told him to be sure it was passed on. He promissed he would. I'll return tomorrow at this time. You can descide at that time if you want to kow more."

Aurora could not believe what he was saying. How in the world would he know that. she was become frighten of this man as well as wanting to know more. She did not know what to do so she ran from that place, back home. She did not stop running till she reached her home. once inside she locked the door and went to the hiding place she kept the medallion. She just stared at if for hours, wondering how this stranger could have known.

As the next day even approached Aurora did not know what to do she wanted to know but she was afraid. Her heart was beating hard inside her chest as she got her coat and slipped the medallion around her neck and went back to the spot she had seen him the night before.

When Aurora arrived he was leaning against the rock, where he had found her the evening before. I'm glad you came. I assume that means you actually had the medallion, and wondered how I could know about it. It starts with my being 900 years old. Before you run, I'm not some crazy, and you and I have a lot in common. You will be 900 years old too.

Aurora walked into the woods only to find him on the rock where she was last night. she drew a very deep breath and walked over to him. Before she could even say a word he started to say he was 900 years old. She quickly find herself laughing. "You are a real crazy now aren't you"

" Laugh if you want " he said as he started to change. Before she knew what had happened, a huge black wolf stood where he had been just a minute ago.

Aurora was shocked by what just happen. He changed into a wolf, a real wolf. She had no clue how he did it but now she was frighten. She began to back away in fear then she turned and ran, before she knew it though she was falling to the ground as she tripped over a tree root.

He stood over her his hot breath on her face and then while she watched he turned back. He stood before her naked. "Now do you believe me?" he said. He walked back to his clothing and got dressed, then walked back and helped her to her feet. "I'm not a liar and not a rapist. Can we talk now?" he asked.

Aurora watched as the creature loomed over her, she had fear in eyes that he might eat her or something, but then he changed back and Aurora still found herself laying on the ground just shaking. It wasn't until he helped her to her feet that Aurora was able to say something. "Talk?! holy shit you just turned into a wolf..." she slowly started to back away from him.

"Don't run", he said. " I would never hurt you, and what's more, you can do it too. I told you that you and I have something in common. You are not what you appear. You have just never used the power you have. That's why I am here. You are a full blood, just as I am and your mother and father were."

Aurora stopped and looked at at him. "what does it matter if I am what you say I am? besides why would i want to be a freak like you, I have had it hard enough without people thinking I am crazy"

"It matters very much to our community" he said. " you have a gift, a very rare gift indeed." Less than one female in 100 has what you do." And what you have can help preserve our race. Its about to disappear, he said.

"Again I say what does it matter. I can not do anything to change your fate. So I will just continue on with the life I know." Aurora crossed her arms and stared back at him. She had learned to deal with a lot and this was to much

"It's your fate too. Aren't you just a little curious about who you really are?" He was frustrated, any of the others would have simply taken her, but he didn't want that for her, it wasn't his way. "Fine" he said as he wrote a number on a piece of paper. "You can reach me here if want to fund out, but don't wait too long" he said sternly. He knew that if he couldn't make her understand, he would be forced to abandon the old ways of his people, and take her by force if necessary.
