Millie sat in her new room and found herself settled on the floor cross legged as she peered around. It was much smaller than her old room at her Father’s house. In a way she was in a much better living environment than what she was accustomed too. She had lived with her dead beat father since she was little and while he did his best, it was never nearly enough for a growing female. Her father was a depressed alcoholic who ended up drying from diabetes and liver failure. His last days were spent in a nursing home as she stayed alone in their trailer in a low income trailer park. Despite the average visual that came in mind with that Millie kept the trailer in the best condition, clean, organized and did her best to make the outside somewhat presentable with flowers and furniture on the porch. Her mother had been out of the picture since before she could remember. You could say the whole family was a pathetic excuse for a support system.

Her mother had gotten pregnant at such a young age with Brandon with another man who she never heard of. Then years later she have gotten knocked up with Millie as there was almost a decade age difference between Millie and Brandon. She was left with her father to survive. As Brandon was able to in her own terms break the mold and provide for himself, getting an education, holding a job and landing this apartment. His life was far from perfect and Millie was about to spiral down further.

As her father was dying in the nursing home her older brother who she rarely saw was contacted. She had no idea how it happened and her father had passed before she could ask.

Her brother had came in and said he was now responsible for her and that she had a small savings she was unaware of. He was always a matter of factly, even in such a dire situation. She had let her pack what belongings she really wanted but said she could not bring any furniture. He was appalled by the trailer and how she lived and was going to replace anything she needed. He had never been use to having nice things unless she worked for them herself. Most of the time what money she made from her part times jobs was used to help keep the bills paid. Now she had her own small bedroom room in his three bedroom apartment in the big city. He had purchased her new furniture, new clothing, anything she had wanted. She seemed to prideful for take his money so he had ended up getting her essentials she would need. On her desk sat a brand new MacBook and activated iPhone. She was basked in luxury but it didn’t stop the fact that she had completely switched how she lived over night.

She had been here a week and Brandon was rarely actually here. He came back periodically to shower, to change, to eat a small meal but always left saying he was going to work or had a business trip. He always asked if she wanted or needed anything. She felt like a financial burden that had taken over his apartment. She could’t even figure out if he was ever home before she moved in. There was so many unanswered questions. Brandon was like a distant relative, he would always randomly call or send her gifts, mainly money knowing her situation living with her father but that was as far as it went because of the distance. He had even prevented her from the state burial her father was having, Brando had covered the expenses for him to have a basic burial with a headstone.

Tonight's conquest was a blonde in her mid 40s. Attire and haircut screamed corporate ladder climber, too busy for real relationships. Brandon could relate. Airport hotel bars were great for picking up this kind of company. They were generally bored, only in town for a couple evenings, and had ready access to a bed.

He tipped the uber driver as he dug a cigarette out of his jacket pocket. The phone told him it was a little after 11:30, lights on, however dim, indicated Millie was probably still up. He felt sorry for the girl. Growing up with Marvin, being more adult than the reigning adult seemed to have made her insular. Cut off. He'd rarely spoken to either of them after his mother's death. Of course when things started looking up for him, Marvin came looking for money. Brandon provided, remembering what he'd done for Brandon's mother, and sent Millie some too without telling Marvin, just to make sure things stayed all right.

It was usually Brandon that wound up paying Marvin's medical bills. Medicaid only covered so much. Marvin listed him as an emergency contact, and that's how he'd found out about his death. To think, they'd been living in a fucking trailer. How the hell had his sister survived there that long? Jesus, she'd made it to 19 without getting knocked up by one or more white trash pieces of shit, so she'd already beat the long odds. He still struggled to relate to her, but he also rarely saw her. The apartment usually looked sterile and immaculate because be suspected the cleaning staff were in it more frequently than he was.

He unlocked the door, walking in, muttering a perfunctory "Hey sis" as he passed Millie's room and didn't break stride until he made it to the master bath and started the shower. He wanted to get the smell of cigarettes and sex off of him before Millie caught on he'd been indulging in either.

It was getting close to midnight but Millie couldn’t sleep. There were several factors to reason with, her environment change, the emotions with the loss of her deadbeat father, moving states away from the only support she had. She had spent hours on the new fancy phone using social media thanking everybody who was kind and generous about the loss of her father. She also had to explain to local friends how she had to move in with her brother in the big city of New York. She could fathom how much it cost to live here. It was nearing the end of summer, autumn was around the corner and she had graduated high school. Brandon hadn’t mentioned it but she knew he would start suggesting and encouraging college. Although she had just moved so he was thinking a university would be out of the picture until she got her bearings. She had the apartment all to herself, she normally did and had already peaked and explored it. She figured she could offer to clean it knowing it must have been professionally cleaned. She knew he could afford it but if she was there, he could save some small cash.

She headed into the medium size kitchen and decided to make something to eat. Another thing she wasn’t quite use to was a fridge filled with food and cabinets stocked, especially fresh produce and meat. She pulled out several vegetables and a head of lettuce to make a salad. She turned on the oven to bake fresh bacon and cook chicken to make a Cobb salad. She was it least using some of the accessories Brando had bought her, she was using her wireless beat earbuds to listen to music as she cooked. She was a little underweight so some weight could medically do her some good. She planned to advantage of it. She had already see a physician and gone a basic check up with blood work and was already on a crap ton of supplements to build her immune system. Plus they had discovered she had hormone problems so was on medications for that, that was also part of her sleeping problems. She was finally being taken care of, mind and body it least.

Millie was cutting the chicken and putting the actual salad together, getting ready to drown it in dressing when the door opened. She had headphones in so she was unaware of Brandon entering. Then she sensed someone and pulled her earbud out to hear him greet her as he paced straight toward his master bedroom. She made a face and walked toward the hallway seeing his door close. She didn’t even have time to ask if he wanted anything, she rolled her eyes and leaned her head on the wall. He was so complicated. It was almost like living with a stranger. She pushed off the wall to head back to finishing her salad, she had enough ingredients to make him a salad. She left the crumbled bacon and chicken in two little containers for him to put on as he wanted. She made two plates and headed into the dining room to eat. She started digging in and listening to music in one ear, she could hear him showering.

The water cascaded over him, heat loosening the muscles in his back. He allowed himself just a moment to enjoy the heat, then set to work, quickly and meticulously washing from head to toe, rinsing quickly and shutting off the shower in less than 5 minutes. Between dorm rooms and sharing apartments with friends and colleagues as his career took off, Brandon had gotten into a habit of showering quickly. The efficiency of it appealed to him and so he hadn't stopped after he'd been able to afford an apartment of his own.

A strong, particular smell struck his nose as he left the bathroom. It had snuck under the door. He dressed in a simple white tshirt and unbleached linen lounge pants that were light and felt comfortable against his skin. He opened his door, looking out to the living room...

"Do I smell bacon?"

There is a primal part of the human brain that smell short circuits. Food for Brandon was, like everything else, primarily about efficiency. Macronutrients and protein content first, flavor second. Bacon... Bacon you can pretend doesn't exist. You can try replacing with turkey bacon. You can just stop buying it and pretend to be satisfied putting Canadian bacon on your eggs benedict at Sunday brunch. But bacon will not be ignored. Its presence demanded acknowledgement, and the smell drew Brandon, who knew he should otherwise probably be getting to bed for work in the morning, into the dining room to investigate.

Millie continued eating in the dining room, she was stabbing large forkfuls of her salad and enjoying it. You could say her appetite had increased from her medication stabilizing her hormones, on top of being able to enjoy fresh food. She was so use to living primarily off of processed cheap box food that was easy to buy and make last. That consisted of frozen television dinners and ramen noodles, far from healthy. She was downing a cold bottle of water when she heard Brandon randomly asked about bacon. She screwed the cap back on her water peeing down the hallway, kind of impossible with the angle she was sitting at. Before she knew it Brandon was entering the kitchen looking a new man, showered and smelling distinctly clean. He would see she had already set him out a plate of salad, with sides to add if he likes, a couple of dressings were put out. He would see she had taken advantage of the buttermilk ranch. She raised her eyes curiously at him as she took another bite, he would hear her light music in one ear.

I made you a salad if your hungry…..I was starving so I made a Cobb salad, so yes….I cooked some bacon and chicken.” She mumbled watching him approach the dining room table. She observed him closely but not direct enough he would be able to catch it. He looked rather attractive, the white complicated him, as if he was about to mediate or kick someone’s ass in some Asian film. She smiled at her own thought, he was built enough to take anybody. It almost made her wondered why he didn’t have a girlfriend or wasn’t already married. He seemed to have a good career, was balanced and had the looks to get any female he wanted, he should of already been married with kids. Least she thought that was what normal people did. Maybe she had no idea what ordinary was, she barely functioned herself. She also wouldn’t know that he did get his share of women, he just never made commitments.

She was also surprised he was actually staying the night. She had been living here close to two weeks and had only seen him a small handful of times. Maybe he had snuck into rest when she was already sleep but always got up early for work.

He sat down in front of the prepared salad, with a bit of a confused look across his face. Apart from restaurants, he hadn't had a meal prepared for him in nearly a decade. Not since... Well not since the happy times with Sandra. Not even the times towards the end.

"You didn't need to. Thank you" he said simply, as he reached for the blue cheese dressing, applying it slowly in a measured, careful grid across the salad greens. He picked up the fork, collecting greens in a rough circle around the plate, working toward the center. Finished, he pushed his plate to the center of the table.

"What are you still doing up anyway?" he asked. "I know you're still finding your place here and all, but it's still late."

She finished her own plate and watched silently as he measured his dressing and ate in a rather odd way. Brandon had some sort of over compulsive issues she was positive but wasn’t one to judge. Then he made a comment on it being late and her still being up which caught her off guard. She shrugged and looked awkwardly around the dining room. It was almost irritating how he was acting like a parent, genuinely concern but what was more baffling than that was this unknown authority he had, he was intimidating.

Yeah its just from the medication and moving. I’ll clean up and get to bed.” She said, sounding a bit like a drone now and quickly got up to take their plates to the sink. She rinsed them off and quickly put everything away in the fridge and made sure to do so in an organized fashioned. She felt his eyes but ignored them. She looked back at him and they just gawked at each other. She felt like a complete stranger, unwanted in his house. She knew he wouldn’t let her live alone, hell she couldn’t afford it. She was forever in his debt but she was still just a young adult.

Sorry if I’m bothersome. I don’t mean to be. I’ll keep quiet and out of your way.” She said and was going to dart for her bedroom but something happened and she quickly paced toward him in the general direction be pecked him on the side of the head. “Goodnight.” As quickly as she had done it she was off down the hall and then he would hear her door shut. She sighed behind her closed door. She would have to get use to his mannerisms, even challenge him at times. He didn’t mean well but she thrown down a rabbit whole into a land she was unfamiliar with.

The show of affection, however minor, had taken him aback. He wasn't used to it. His mother had been dead for over a decade, Marvin wasn't exactly an emotionally expressive father figure. Sandra... Sandra was a long time ago too. He shook himself and saw Millie disappearing into her room. Defensive, insulated, but she was trying to reach out. At this point he was the only family she had. Not everyone was as used to Brandon as being on their own.

He strolled slowly down the hall. Her door was closed. There was something about sharing space, her now having some space and some privacy of her own. He doubted she had much of that luxury in the small shoebox she'd called a home with Marvin, even if she'd had her own room. It was important to respect that. He knocked, but didn't open the door.

"You're not a bother. You're family. I know I'm really busy... with work. But maybe we can find some time to do something together this weekend." For all he knew, she was already asleep, or ignoring him. He walked off to his own room without another sound, leaving her be and getting himself to sleep. What did you do for fun with someone too young to drink at a bar? What do you even do with girls you weren't trying to sleep with?

Millie was quick to retreat to her room but she had excellent hearing, she was great at being aware of her surroundings. She had to be taking care of her alcoholic father living in a ghetto ass trailer park. She had heard him knock and was close to opening it when he spoke. She listened and stood there. It was so damn strange how her own flesh and blood felt like a complete stranger. She felt closer to her father which was fucked up in itself. He was truthful, he was a grown adult with a career. He was’t accustomed to sharing his living space with a young female. He was kind enough to take her in, they wasn’t even full blood siblings, just the same mother and yet he still had finically always take care of her. She was yet to know because of him, her father made had lived just a bit longer. She heard him head back towards the bedroom and let her had drop quietly from the door knob.

She turned off her lights leaving on a small lamp on the lowest setting to give a small warm glow that left most of the room dark. She crawled into her bed pulling back the covers and buried herself in a cocoon. She had been sleeping better because of the comfortable bedding and mattress, she felt like she was sleeping on cotton. She didn’t even want to imagine how much he paid for everything he had gotten her. She was grateful, she was almost lost in how to accept her life style change. It was nice but it felt different than what she was use to, living by the minimum. Maybe she felt like she didn’t deserve it.

Millie was talking to her friends on her facebook messenger, once again with her headphones back in. She was enjoying the good quality of headphones. She was browsing through her facebook and for some reason found her brothers facebook. It was almost his professional page but held enough basic information. She would be unaware of the dirty dating profiles he had. She indulged to look at photos of him and found herself amazed by how well dressed and attractive he looked. She found herself looking through almost every photo. Once again, he was her brother but it didn’t feel like it. She saw pictures of when he must have had a girlfriend, maybe more? He looked so happy. He had a beautiful smile she was positive she would rarely see. It wasn’t long until she started to get sleepy and passed out looking at his pictures. So innocent but showing her fascinated, perhaps slow infatuation with her older brother.

Brandon blinked his eyes. Sunlight shown through the window. That shouldn't happen. The alarm goes off in the morning, early, so that he had time to go the the fitness center downstairs and do a workout before he left for work. His alarm had failed to go off, he checked the phone, and found he had just under an hour to get to work.

He lept up, changing, thankful he'd gotten a shower in the night before and dressed as quickly as he could. He turned on his laptop and reviewed his notes for the first meeting of the day as he fixed himself a cup of coffee, scanning slowly through the pages. He checked the clock again, panicking and closing the laptop, filling his to-go cup with coffee and rushing out.

His computer contained a mixture of work files and personal use files. Usually closing the computer down or leaving it untouched for more than 10 minutes would lock and encrypt it, but modern life was full of conveniences that Brandon hadn't considered. He'd set his home WiFi for example as a trusted network, meaning no security measures were in place as long as the laptop identified it was 'home', but they applied anywhere else.

And so his laptop was left, completely unprotected, on his kitchen counter. There was a massive amount of incriminating data for anyone looking to have found. Digging around in the file system would have revealed over a terabyte of pornographic videos, sorted by category. "Teen amateurs", "Redheads" and "Creampie" having the most content, but there were also a wide array of other subjects for other moods.

Even his email was incriminating. There was one folder named simply "Ignore". Sometimes his one-night stands had gleaned enough info from him, the company he worked for, his name, where he lived, to somehow track him down on social media or find his email through the company directory. In cases like this, he'd set his email to dump all emails he'd identified as being from one of these girls directly into this folder. The letters piled up one after another, Brandon conveniently never had to look at more than the first, even if they tried in earnest to contact him again and again.

This was not the only odd or incriminating piece of information in his email. Only a few minutes after he left, an email popped up from an address identifying herself only as "Scarlet Barbie". She confirmed their meeting tonight, shortly after work, reminding him that he'd agreed to an additional 200 to meet at her place and that she would have a friend waiting for her to call afterward to ensure she was ok, being a first time client and all. The chain of the email yielded more information, her rates were all things considered relatively low, it sounded like she was a college girl that had just stumbled onto this line of work and didn't know how much she should actually be charging. He had further requested, and received nude pics of her, neck down and obscuring her face.

Millie had slept in longer than she had suspected she would. Looking at her phone she saw it was past noon. Its not like she a schedule to abide by. Brandon really hadn’t told her she needed to find a job or immediately start school. He kind of just left her to adjust in his lonesome apartment. She pushed the covers off and had to blink from how blinding the afternoon sun shone through her windows. She pulled herself out of bed and decided to take a shower. Grabbing some fresh brand new clothing and undergarments she headed to the restroom that was across the hall from her room. She got the hint this bathroom wasn’t ever used so it was hers to do as she wanted. He had his own bathroom connected to his master bedroom. She started the shower to let the water warm up. It didn’t take to long before steam filled up the bathroom. She climbed in and was thankful for actual water pressure. She was so use to taking poor cold showers a lot of the time at her old home. The water came out in a mist, conversing water but it felt amazing. She went to work washing her hair and scrubbing her body. After thirty minutes she was dressed and cleaning up the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and turned around to look a the new clothing he had bought. It felt different to wear nice clothing that was clean, fitted and name branded.

She headed into the kitchen and decided to keep with her healthy eating and pulled up a recipe on her phone for a mango smoothie. She grabbed some mango’s and cut them up along with a banana, added a cup of almond milk and Greek yogurt. The last one some slices of orange. She blended in a mixer and grabbed a cup and noticed Brandon had left his laptop on the desk. She was going to put it back in his room but something made her sit down and open it up. It had a basic desk top picture of nature. She figured it would be password protected but all she did was press enter and it went to the home screen, surprising her. He did live alone, right? He probably didn’t have anything to hide. She was about to have a rude awakening as she looked a little deeper.

Lets just say what should have bee maybe a ten minute snoop lasted long into an hour. She sat there, beady eyes with her hand over her mouth as she had discovered his personal computer was dirty with porn. It wasn’t just a folder with a few videos or saved browsers, he had several hundred videos organized. She was smart enough not to click any of them, the mini thumbnails were revealing enough to give way to the content. She had reasoned he was just a very organized grown adult male who watched porn, that was normal. That was until she noticed he had an unread message and it seemed to be from a female who was arranging some sort of transaction. That led to further emails which clarified, Brandon slept with women and often paid for it. He must have had money because he gave it out generously. She had also read some personal messages on his g-mail messenger that were distasteful and vulgar. She slammed his laptop down with red eyes. She wasn’t even sure why it upset her so much? He lived alone, he paid his own bills, he could do whatever he wanted?

She spent the rest of the day trying to distract herself. She did useless tidying up when his apartment was spotless. She even did some meal prepping and cooked up some snacks. Late into the evening she found herself searching on her phone about sexual addiction.

Work was hell without his laptop, he cursed himself all day long for being careless enough to forget it. Luckily he'd been able to use another computer in his department to access his notes for his nearly back to back meetings that day. They of course offered him no time to actually return home to retrieve it either. It was a long, stressful day, by time he had pulled up to her building and climbed the walk up to her small studio apartment, he felt as though he was about to reward himself for a job well done.

"Scarlet Barbie" was a real treat too. The photos did her figure justice, full perky breasts and a cute ass. He could tell she was new to this business from the slight trepidation she showed when he walked in, and later when it came time to getting down to business. Maybe a scholarship had run out, mom and dad cut off funding... Who knows? She was talented enough that she was obviously no stranger to sex, but doing it for money had to have been a recent development.

It was late by time he finally returned home. The apartment was quiet, he spotted the laptop sitting on his kitchen table, but not in the same position he left it while he was having breakfast. Had Millie gotten bored and tried snooping? He spotted her on the couch, television off, scanning through her phone.

"Hey sis"

By the time Brandon had made it home it was late, closing on midnight. She had guessed after work he had headed over to young college girls place for a round of fun. She hadn’t expected him to come home and she had made it a priority not to text or call. She wasn’t even sure she wanted too. She was trying to comprehend how she even felt about his extra circulars activities. It was none of her damn business and she knew that, she was still appreciative of him giving her shelter among anything else she wanted or needed. It could have been worse, right? He wasn’t an alcoholic like her father? She wasn’t having to pull him to bed or clean up his vomit. As far as she knew he didn’t have sort of substance abuse and was able to function enough to keep his career job. She spent hours reminiscing her childhood, how she had rarely ever saw or lived with Brandon. Maybe when she was a baby he was around but she was to young to remember.

As he entered the apartment he would notice nothing was different other than a few lights were off than usual. She was propped on her couch surfing mindlessly through her phone. She pulled her legs up and noticed Brandon was home when she saw him address her, she pulled out her earbuds and just stared at him, almost surprised he was there. He looked well groomed, as if he had gotten off his shift which she knew was hours ago. She sat up and looked around, as if she was a little out of it herself.

“Oh…hey.” She said after several seconds without saying anything.

"Long day today. You wouldn't believe the meetings and special projects and stuff..." he said, trying to make conversation. She didn't seem freaked out or disgusted with him, she probably hadn't been snooping much at all. Still, he'd need to take off the trusted network setting and keep a password active here too. That was a silly lapse in self-protection.

"I was thinking, we really haven't gotten a chance to do anything fun together, it's got to be kind of tough cooped up here far from all your friends. Let's get you out of the house and go have some fun tomorrow. Do you want to go shopping? Go to the park? See a movie?" All of them seemed kind of boring and unrewarding compared to sinking balls deep into a random hook up, or watching something from his well-curated porn collection. How long had it been since he'd been able to stroll around his living room naked? Stream HD porn on the big screen TV? Best put that out of my head, he thought. She's family. Family comes before creature comforts.

Still, he had no idea what to suggest that she might enjoy, throwing out three options with a tone of uncertainty. Maybe she had a better idea?

Brandon has retuned later that night to her surprise. He had noticed his laptop wasn’t exactly in the same position but she wasn’t acting as if she was upset so he was positive she had’t snooped enough. He offered to spend a day, just her and him out trying to have fun. She wasn’t eager to go out and pretend she was happy but she also didn’t have the courage to decline. So she retreated to bed to leave him to his own. The next day she was almost positive he would be gone for work and everything he said was just a way to sugar coat leaving her here. As she stumbled out of bed a little groggily than usual she saw he was already dressed waiting for her. She caught him peering at her down the hall, with a menacing smile, she eyed him half heartedly. He made causal teasing comments about her sleeping in and waiting all morning. She rubbed her eyes and nodded headed into the bathroom to relieve herself. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me she thought sarcastically.

Believe it or not the day went completely unexpected. They had went to a local waffle place for breakfast and both of them indulged in greasy good tasting breakfast food. They found ways to actually communicate and Brandon seemed a lot less cold. She was confused by his demeanor but it was nice getting to spend time with him when he was more cheerful. He seemed to get a kick out of when the waitress commented on her being his daughter and for some reason she let it slide and went with it. Some taboo judgement she didn’t seem to mind. Perhaps she didn’t care, Brandon would have made a better father than what Marvin had.

giphy.gif

“Guess we should get going Dad.” She teased as they were getting ready to head out. She felt him casually put an arm around her shoulder, affectionately guiding her with him as they made their way to the exit. For some reason there was this unknown energy, she felt excited and couldn’t explain why. They had spent the day going to the mall and Millie had fun making fun of Brandon as he tried on clothing. She was also forced to buy a few things which she wasn’t use to doing. You could almost say it was a successful outing. It had made millie forget about what she had found on his computer. That was until she was back alone in her room to recap the outing they had together. She was so confused why he didn’t have an actual girlfriend and not one night stands? Was something wrong, could he not commit? She fell asleep thinking of him.

The week came and it felt like the weekend had never happened. Millie was left alone all week for long hours as was normal. She imagined after work he was seeing other women or prowling the streets for his prey. She still made no effort to contact him in those times. Somehow it upset her but she was able to deal with it. Was it really the end of the world what he did with his private life, it was his dick right? She found herself back on her phone looking at multiple pictures she had saved of him, plus a couple he had let her take last weekend. Her mind tried to start psychologically analyzing him. Then those thoughts took her deeper into her past, living with Marvin in the shitty trailer park for so many years. It made her angry. She heard distant thunder and the lights flickered in the apartment, a storm had come in over the city.

tumblr_ovrjuiTPMM1qmnzzko1_500.png

Suddenly Millie didn’t want to think anymore. She just wanted to clear her mind. She got up turning off all the lights in the apartment and paced to her bedroom. She threw on some layered clothing, grabbing a jacket and slipping on her tennis shoes. She didn’t know what exactly she was doing but she didn’t want to be in the apartment. She had to get some fresh air, she had to much energy. She grabbed her keys, phone and put her hair back while plugging in her earbuds, luckily everything was water resistant. It probably wasn’t the greatest idea to be going outside in a raging storm. She locked up and jogged downstairs outside into the storm. She had learned the layout out, it least within a couple mile radius. She knew there was a small park, then there was a college football arena. She started walking, getting soaked in minutes. The water was hot but cool. It was fairly hot out for a late night. After twenty minutes she would find herself jogging through the small city park as it poured. What she wouldn’t know is Brandon would know she left the apartment at this time of night. His security system would notify him when anybody was entering or leaving the apartment and at what time. She was jogging, pushing herself to get to the empty stadium.

Brandon was chatting up a drunk little brunette at one of his favorite after work watering holes. He recognized the regulars that came by, avoided them like the plague. This one said she had stopped by with friends for an after work happy hour. She clearly had self control issues, and that bode well for Brandon as well. His phone pinged an odd alert, the integrated security system in his apartment. The front door had been opened.

Millie probably got tired of cooking for herself, ordered a pizza. He switched the little app to view the discretely placed webcams set up within the living space. It was dark. Empty. She left? This late at night? Was she going to meet someone? He was in no place to make judgments about extracurricular activities, but this was a big city she was not accustomed to. She may have grown up in a trailer park, but this was an element of scum she was not used to dealing with.

He excused himself from the brunette, who looked disappointed. He took her number, storing it in his phone, knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that he'd never actually call her. Any way she could easily reach back out to him like that would be far too exposed. He started his car, plugging in the phone and pulling up a tracking app. He didn't tell Millie that he'd installed a GPS locator on her new phone for safety purposes, but he activated it and watched her little blip pinging slowly across the park near their house. Walking? Running? In the rain? Something was wrong.

He drove as fast as the foul weather would allow. By the time he'd gotten close to home, the blip had reached a stadium nearby. It pinged, moving back and forth inside the arena. She really was doing some kind of exercising. He parked the car near the exit, taking his umbrella from the back seat and opening it, standing casually near the car and waiting for Millie to finish. He debated how harsh he'd have to be with her when she finally finished.

Millie’s lungs had heart every time she inhaled. She wasn’t near nowhere in shape to be doing this kind of psychical conditioning but that didn’t stop her from trying. She had the rain pounding all over her small petite body, she often had to squint and would open her mouth as the water cascaded down her face. Her shoes, ankles and calfs were covered in mud. She had run across the field, using the wet turf to wipe off mud so she could push herself to climb and descend the stadium stairs. She would be lucky not to break her neck with her tennis shoes against the wet concrete and metal. The more she pushed herself, the pain got worse in her legs, feet and lungs. She didn’t care, she almost craved it. There was this unknown drive she could’t quite place her finger on, it gave a high adrenaline rush. She was unaware she had alarmed Brandon and he was close, waiting, watching her crazy attempt at exercising in the middle of the night. She got to the top of the stadium stairs, she took a break watching lightening flash across the sky. Thunder was always close behind as the sky raged. She was out of breath and slumped over on her rear, taking a break as she struggled to catch breaths. Using her hands to rub the oncoming rain out of her face. She leaned back, closing her eyes, almost embracing the chaos of the storm. It didn’t matter she was out alone in the early morning, in the middle of a raging storm.

The wind was unleashed and the surrounding air smelled damp and she loved it. She had always found solace in storms. She would sit outside on their pitiful wooden porch connected to the trailer, watching them in the summer. There was a certain rhythm to the downpour that I caught amidst the wind unleashing a torrent of its own. The rain exhibited no sign to cease, the inception of the storm had only just arrived.

Millie got up to start her descend down the stadium seating back down to the open field. She used the railing going down to help prevent her from loosing her footing and she went down at a slower pace. She was nearly to the bottom when she slipped and fell but caught herself on the railing. That didn’t help her from twisting her left ankle, she breathed out but didn’t let out any other sound of pain. She sat on the stairs letting her hands check her ankle, it wasn’t broken, maybe sprained or sore. She had to get home so she used the railing to limp up. She hopped down the few sets of stairs and was back on the turf. She had started limping across the field toward the exit and that’s when she noticed a car, a very familiar car and someone standing, waiting, concerned, fuming? He would see how soaked she was, covered in mud, limping. She was confused how he knew? Did he actually come home and find her gone? She saw him coming to aid her as he knew she had hurt herself somewhat.

She knew this wasn’t going to go down well but she couldn’t help but notice how he looked so intriguing, so enticing, trying to be a knight in shining armor in the storm. She thought he would lend her a shoulder to wrap her arm around but she was completely lifted. She could already feel her soaked clothing, and mud staining his professional tailored clothes. She was breathing very heavy.

Millie was tiny and light in his arms. Her clothing drenched, her thin frame shook from the ragged breathing and exertion she'd put herself through. Stupid girl. What the hell was she doing? He opened the back door of his car, setting her inside gently to let her spread out along the back seat and keep her ankle up. Mud would wash off the leather.

He got into the car and started the engine. They'd pulled out onto the street before he glanced at her in the rearview mirror.

"What the hell did you think you were doing?" He finally asked. "You left alone, in the middle of the night. This neighborhood is better than most, but that doesn't help as much as you'd think. Going for a run in this weather? Through what, the park? Then the stadium? Couldn't you find a nice poorly lit tunnel, because I can't think many more secluded places for someone to snatch you up and rape the shit out of you. What the hell were you doing up there anyway? You're clearly pushing yourself harder than you should be, and last I checked you weren't training for a decathlon or something. You're lucky that you just sprained your ankle..."

He glanced back at her again. She lay with one side of her face against the back of the seat, panting, not making eye contact. She looked small and fragile and was clearly having a tough time. The trip back to the apartment building took very little time compared to her earlier run. He lifted her again from the car's back seat and didn't set her back down until it was to place her on one of the wooden chairs in their kitchen. He left her there a moment, returning with several soft towels from the hall bathroom.

"You're completely soaked. Do you need help getting out of those clothes?"

Millie was quiet, trying to keep her composure in self defeat. She should have known Brandon would come looking after her and be furious. She was an adult but was still his responsibility. She stayed silent, as water dripped off of her down onto the wooden floor. She remembered his words on the way back to the apartment. He seemed confused why she would do such a foolish act, putting herself in danger. She kept her head down as he brought her some folded towels, she took them, avoiding eye contact. She didn’t really have anything to say. She knew she shouldn’t have done what she did but it was over now. She used one towel to start patting dry her face. She would need to somehow get in the shower and change. She didn’t know if she would have to get her ankle looked at or not. At his question about needing help, she just looked at him.

“I think I can manage. I’ll get it look at tomorrow if it doesn’t let up.” She said using the table to slowly lift her body into a standing position. Would he notice how pale she was, soaked, dirty with mud and having her sweat mix with the water. Would he notice the red eyes, the emotion hidden. That this had happened because she was troubled over something she didn’t quite understand. She had this will to keep pushing herself, even now. She attempted to limp down the hallway toward the bathroom and was half successful. She opened the door and was able to sit on the toilet, letting out a heavy exhale. She cringed as she removed her tennis shoes and muddy soaked socks. Right now the door was still open. She slipped off her pink jacket, now only being in leggings, and her t-shirt. She rubbed her face, sniffling.

Brandon watched as his little sister, exhausted and injured, dragged herself down the short hallway to the bathroom. The filth of her run had puddled on the floor around the chair, following her down the hall in erratic and misshapen footprints. He went to the kitchen cabinet to get a dish towel and start cleaning the floors. On returning and starting to clean the largest of these puddles, he heard a wince and the sopping noise of her foot being removed from one of her sneakers. He watched, wiping but without paying attention, as she painfully removed both feet from her shoes, then the socks from said feet, followed by some awkward flailing which was finally able to unseat her completely soaked jacket from around her shoulders and allow it to slide off thanks mostly to the unrelenting force of gravity. He rose again to his feet, making his way slowly down the hallway.

"You're a mess kid. What's gotten into you tonight? Something pissed you off?"

He walked in, sitting tentatively on the low wall of the bathtub across from her.

"Look, I'm not your dad. We're really only getting to know each other now at this point. But if you need to talk about something I'll try not to be judgmental or condescending. Sometimes it just helps to talk."

Not as if he could possibly condemn anything she was keeping bottled up. Her deep dark secrets probably looked off-white compared to the usual behavior he was now doing away from home since she'd moved in.

Millie hadn’t gotten off the thick jacket as it slopped on the floor when Brandon entered the bathroom. He easily slid past and settled himself to the edge of the bathtub. Millie kept her head lowered, just listening him trying to preach words reassurance and be a confidant. He was so close, his knee’s slightly pressed against hers, she rubbed her nose. She really didn’t know how to explain what was happening. He wasn’t use to being a parent, he wasn’t use to dealing with a teenager, she was a little older than that but still. She slowly and carefully pulled her hair out of its matted pony tail, letting her long wet hair cascade down her shoulders. She looked up at him, looking defeated, as if she didn’t give a damn, something had changed her that much. Maybe part of her wanted to cry, to crawl into his embrace and have a certain emotional need filled but was that even Brandon? Was that even allowed. She had been neglected a lot, and gone through some mental and physical abuse. He had been the only person to rescue and put her in a world she wasn’t accustomed too. She had no way to tell him she was upset because she didn’t understand his demons, his addictions, she didn’t understand why it bothered her or why she was becoming so attached to him. How could a young female possibly relay all of those things. She looked away, exhaling, trying to keep control. Could she explain she felt self destructive and wanted to distract her mind.

“I don’t really want to talk Brandon. I’m just going to shower and go to bed. I’m sorry for worrying you.” She said, in a flat tone. She went to use the sink for leverage, standing on her good leg. She figured he would eventually leave but didn’t really care as she peeled off her tank top leaving her in a sports bra and leggings. She wasn’t really anything special, obviously not some Victoria secret angel, she was an average weight, maybe a little on thin side and was deathly pale. She did have her own petite figure. Soon as her wet tank hit the floor, she looked at him.

“I could use help.” She said eyeing him, maybe she was challenging herself with him. He could fuck girls her age, what would stop him from simply helping his sister get undressed. She needed help getting off her thick soaked leggings.

"I could use help"... She had admitted she needed help, which felt like a breakthrough on some level. The removal of her tank top had left her standing before him in only a sports bra and leggings. The presence of so much skin, the act of removing clothes, both had grabbed his attention and cut right to the core of his attention. His loins twitched to life. He had not been laid in something like 24 hours. Not even masturbated since his morning shower. His libido roused itself angrily.

He reached out toward her, trying to keep his hands steady. Awkwardness here would only serve to highlight the affect this was having on his libido. His fingertips contacted the hem of her leggings, softly peeling them away from her skin. The leggings were absolutely soaked, and clung to her skin tightly. He gently started pulling the leggings down, carefully separating them from her panties before pulling them down further.

"Keep your weight off that ankle." he told her. "Try to hold it at a comfortable angle."

The heavy, sopping wet material clung to her tightly. Her skin was hot to the touch under the cold material, body still trying desperately to cool itself from overexertion. Her panties were likewise soaked and left absolutely nothing from the imagination once he had them uncovered. He felt himself stiffening rapidly and tried his best to ignore it, focusing instead on working the leggings down her thighs, which was not terribly helpful. He finally reached her knees and upper calves, the rest of the leggings coming off much easier. He slowly, gently worked the material over her injured ankle, then offered her an arm to let herself slowly down onto the toilet to get the last leg off.

Millie made a face of strain as he helped lower her back on the toilet, her wet clothes in a pile on the bathroom flooring. She wasn’t aware of his issues with his libido or arousal. She knew it was probably inappropriate for him to completely undress her and she had been in worse situations when sick and taking care of Marvin. “I think I can handle it from here…..thanks. I’ll be alright.” She said just wanting to get the shower over with, get dressed and crawl into bed. Her body was going to be in such a bad shape tomorrow, the soreness she would feel would be overwhelming. She stayed planted on the toilet patiently waiting for Brandon to give her some privacy so she could attempt to get this shower over with.

As he left, she noticed the door was left cracked open. He must have wanted to make sure she didn’t collapse in the shower. He had also taken her soaked clothing and tennis shoes. She felt a mixture of emotions, was he irritated he was having to clean of after his half sibling? She leaned over pulling the curtain back and started the shower, letting hot water run down. She decided it was safer to get inside the shower and then dispose of her other undergarments. She used both hands and got herself in the shower, it took some balancing. She let the water do most of the work, she half assed washed her hair, rinsed it and used a bar of soap to get what she could reach. She turned off the shower and saw clean towels were put within her reach on the toilet. She grabbed one and started drying her hair off, before grabbing the bigger one. She wrapped one around her mid drift tying it and hobbled out, using everything for leverage. She could hear the laundry already going down the hall. He must have put her clothes in the washer to get them cleaned. She could put a little weight on her bad ankle but not much.

Brandon had set her clothes in the wash and laid out more towels for her to use post shower. He felt strange intruding on her while she was showering and undressed, buy by the same token, she couldn't put a lot of weight on that ankle. Should she slip and fall in the shower, he would need to know to assist, that could injure her further. He left the door open a crack to hear better and took a seat in the chair next to the hall, listening for her to finish.

In the meantime, he'd booted up his laptop and began sorting through his files. His libido was firing on all cylinders tonight, once he was certain Millie has turned in he would need to practice some self love. He started queuing up a playlist of some teen girl videos that seemed particularly exciting tonight. The shower shut off, and moments later the door to the bathroom creaked open. He minimized the windows, waiting and listening. He knew she couldn't see him from his seat, but was fairly certain she expected him to be nearby. He didn't want to intrude, she was simply trying to get settled in for bed. He also didn't want to risk further arousal, trying to put his physical attraction to her out of mind as a product of having gone so long without satisfaction.

Millie was able to get changed and passed out as soon as she crawled into bed. She would be out cold, unaware of her older brother relieving himself. What she wouldn’t have any clue, is maybe he had found himself more than physically aroused by her presence. The next day she would discover he took a personal day to take her to the doctor. He had breakfast prepared and thankfully didn’t push to much on why she had done the previous nights events. She was thankful for him being there, he was already proving more emotional support than anyone ever had. In a way they were slowly becoming attached, needing the other without knowing it. The doctor appointment consisted of a regular exam, an x-ray and wrapping her ankle in some thick bandages for pressure. She was giving crutches to use for a few days, then she could apply her full weight back on the ankle. She was given some ibuprofen for the pain. She was also a little caught off guard when she saw Brandon cover the office visit and services straight out of pocket. She needed to figure out insurance soon? She could be put on his since her parent died and he was taking financial responsibility, she was of legal age.

The week continued without any issues, Brandon returned to work and Millie was left home to heal and keep herself busy. She tried to keep busy with light cleaning, cooking and killing time with other hobbies like reading and watching movies. She had gotten into the habit of making Brandon lunch, something different each day, she had also done his laundry, even ironed it. She figured he might keep taking his clothes to be tailored but she had caught him actually wearing the clothes she cleaned and ironed. It made her smile, as if accepting her small gestures meant more. It made her feel like she was somehow contributing.

The week had passed and Friday had eased its way around, Millie was once again by herself. She was use to being alone, although Brandon had made an effort to be around more than he had when she first moved in. She was on her tablet, in the living room when the there was a knock on the door. That was odd? Brandon would just let himself in. Millie got up, she could put some weight on her leg and limped to the door. She looked through the peep hole and then opened the door confused she saw a young bright red headed female. The female looked just as confused when she saw Millie. She caught herself and then tried to smile, being polite.

“Hi….is this Mr. Sullivan place? I may have the wrong address. He wasn’t expecting me.”

Mille just gawked at the girl, leaving in the door and was silent before shaking her head.

“No he’s not here right now.”

“Are you one of his other…..” she got quiet not knowing the words to use, “are you his daughter?” The girl asked seeming more confused, especially by millie cold composure. Millie shook her head.

“No I’m a relative that’s just staying.” She said honestly. That somehow made her flush as red as her head as she nodded, as if apologizing silently.
