Princess Lila cowers in the corner of the horse stable that was near the castle which was now on fire. A rival kingdom attacked and killed most of the kingdom, including her father right in front of her eyes. She sobs silently as she prayed no one will find her here.

(OOC: don't have a picture of my character yet, I'm picky :B) Tall and exuding the appearance of superiority, a cavalry knight on horseback walks her mount up to the edge of a bordering nation's forest; it was the westernmost point of the Kingdom of Caldmoor's territory, a short ride from the castle now flaming in on the horizon behind. Intelligence had reached the invading kingdom that there was a stable here owned by the royal family that could be harboring valuable weaponry, explosives, or military personnel.

The approaching knight dismounted her horse with ease; it was now more clearly noticeable that the armor worn by knight was much more feminine in style than that of the other invading troops, the outline of lithe female legs and body were now visible as she crested the small hill, it was well known that it was much more common for the army of the northern territory to have women troops. The old and damaged stone barn greeted her at the top of the rise and she fumbled with her heavy helmet, removing it and cradling it at her hip. A golden, caramel colored braid of hair now hung low behind her shoulders, and a softly featured face now grinned at the stone structure before her. "Wonderful, we had hoped it would be here.." The beautiful knight said to herself, looking back at her horse. "Perhaps something of value will be inside, if we're lucky." She added, steel heeled boots leaving impressions in the damp grass as she made her way to the battered wood door that hung lopsided on its hinges. It was easily pushed open, the door's lock long broken and unrepaired. With a sigh at the sight of only a row of empty horse stalls, bales of hay, and not much else, the woman lit a small torch she had brought with her; having been ordered to burn whatever enemy structures she found. She was glad at least to see that the horses were gone, probably for use by the kingdom's own knights. Although, she would have cut them free before burning the structure to the ground had there been any animals inside, even if it was against her orders to do so.

Moving to set one of the larger, dried up bales of hay on fire with her torch, she hears a small, human whimper out from behind the pile. Was there a child? Quickly, she pushes through the soft barrier of stacked and dried grass for her eyes to widen as they played across the crumpled form of a well dressed young woman, her noble clothing stained with mud, grass, and a small bit of blood.

"You're..!" The knight gasps loudly, not knowing what else to say or do but draw her thin bladed sword from its sheath. It was obvious this girl was a member of the royal family, or at the very least a high powered family of the kingdom - something had to be done with her.

(ok then^^)

Lila continued to sob quietly as she hides in the stable. She cried out of a combination of fear and sadness for her slain father. The scene played in her head over and over again of the king stepping in front of her right before a sword could pierce her heart. The last words of the dying king echoed through her ears. "Run Lila. Get out of here! which was what he said right before the knight plunged the sword in his back to silence him. The image of her father's murderer was burned in her mind as he stood over her father's body with a smirk. She ran off before he could catch her and ended up in the stable.

A small squeak escaped the girls lips when she heard the door of the stable open, breaking her train of thought. She covered her mouth to try to keep silent as she heard the foot steps become louder ans louder but light whimper was let out. She gasped when the knight pushed through her barrier of dried grass then scooted away from the knight as tears streamed down her cheek. She knew her death was imminent.

The knight extended her sword towards the girl, stopping with the blade about six inches from the girl's shoulder, silently holding her posture. There was fear in her head - she had fought many battles and killed numerous enemy soldiers, but never had she hurt a noncombatant. what if this girl isn't part of the kingdom? Where is she from? many thoughts flitted across her mind, but her stature showed no loss of confidence. She was a knight of Valkaa, at the very least she would never -show- her fear.

A thought caught in the maiden knight's mind and she held it there. "Get up. This place is to become ashes. I won't let an innocent come to harm." She said coldly, keeping her sword at the ready but lightening her posture. "I don't know who you are, but you'll have to come with me." She held out a hand - not in aggression, but assistance, waiting for the girl to lift herself to her feet. She had decided that taking the girl as a hostage was her best bet. If she was of value somehow, killing her would be not a waste. If she wasn't useful, it would be an injustice. Which was worse, was a tough question when held to one trained to be loyal to her country.

Lila shut her eyes and sobbed again as she saw the knight extended her sword. It looks like her father sacrifice would have been in vain. Her entire body trembled in fear of the knight then started to relax when she heard her speak. She looked up at her with tearful and skeptical eyes then slowly rose to her feet. What did this knight have planned for her? What was she going to do now that she basically had her captive now? Was she going to hold her for ransom? Toy with her before she killed her? Her mind was racing as she stood there, her legs shaking in terror and unable to speak.

The knight emitted a sympathetic sigh, and for once lightened her expression, looking down at the girl with a suddenly kind face. "Really, don't worry. I won't hurt you and it will likely be quite a while until I'm able to make my way back to my commanders, the way this battle seems to be turning out.. Now follow me."

She paused for a moment, her hand still outstretched, palm up, waiting for the girl's hand. She was terrified, wasn't she? anyone would be, especially a civilian. She gently grasped the girl's shaking hand, hoping to calm her a little and led her outside. Relighting her torch, she threw the flaming stick through the open doorway. It landed in the largest hay bale, as she intended, and immediately the fire spread, hungrily consuming the grass, wooden beams, and cobwebs that had long been in the old stone building. It was a somber sight, the woman herself had a liking for old, stone and thatched buildings like this one. "Here we go.." she muttered, beckoning the timid girl with one hand and leading her with the other, down the grassy hill and to her waiting horse.

"This is Schwartz" she said, laying a hand on the horse's flank. She felt a need to introduce her best friend on the battlefront. "Isn't it silly.. he's not even black" she grinned, still rather unaffected by the war raging over the horizon. She hadn't seen nearly as much as Lila had; she had only participated in what she was used to - the grueling but steady rush into enemy armies, slashing down faceless troops and cavalrymen. Looking behind at the girl for a hint of a response, but not altogether expecting one, in her state, she sized the girl up visually. She was small enough to sit behind her saddle for a short ride into the forest.

((I likes it^_^))

Lila slightly relaxed by the knight's words and warm expression. She was still fearful of course. What if they fun into knight that killed her father? He would surely finish the job if he did. She followed the knight as she made her way out of the stable and set it ablaze. She couldn't help but tear up at the sight of the flaming building. She knew she could never return here. Why would she? Her only family had been killed by the knight's comrade. She was overwhelmed by anger, fear and sadness.

She just ignored the knight's attempt to try to lighten the situation with the remark about her horse "W-Why?" she sniffed. "Why did you do this?" she just shook her head and fell to her knees as she wept. She was all alone now and she had nowhere to go. And it wasn't like she really wanted to go with the knight who more than likely slain more than one person in her kingdom.

The knight noticed the tears in the girl's eyes at the sight of the burning building, and she nodded softly, empathizing with her sadness. When they reached Schwartz the girl broke down. Surprised despite the situation, not able to fully understand the girl's sorrow, the taller woman stared down at the girl once again crumpled up on the ground, shaking with her sobs. After a seemingly long pause, permeated by the gasps and cries of the broken hearted girl at her feet, she finally responded. "I... did not do this." She said, and it was mostly the truth. She had just carried out orders, it was her livelihood to be a knight for her kingdom, and she thought less about a fiery battle than she would, say, the prospect of marrying someone. To her it was not genocide; it was war, but not evil. "My king, my commanders, my army. They decide the plan of action.. whose kingdoms to set ablaze and why. I'm terribly sorry for whatever loss you have had, but I can't claim full responsibility for it." she frowned a bit, feeling a twinge of pity for the girl's pain. "But... look now, we must get going before anyone else comes, you're surely safer with me than one of the other brutes in the army."

She knelt down in front of the girl, still unsure of how to instill any sort of trust in the girl, but then again all she needed at the moment was willingness.. and even if she didn't have that, she still would need to take the girl by force. "Please, let's find somewhere safer." she said finally, considering laying a hand on the girl's trembling shoulder. She had a second thought and kept her hands to herself, though.

Lila could barely hear the knight above her sobs. She somewhat understood but still couldn't help but be upset after everything that had happened. She couldn't blame the young knight. After all, she had to follow orders just as her knights had to obey her. She simply sniffed and slowly sat up. She could consider herself lucky it was her that found her in that stable. If it was anyone else. They would have burned her along with the building. She only nodded at the knight as she stood there "Very well" she said as she wiped the tears "Take me away. Far away from here"

The knight nodded. "it's best if we get somewhere before sundown, an inn won't be safe, we'll have to camp out." she said, formulating a plan in her head. "we'll head west, into neighboring territory, that way we're away from the violence, and neither your nor my kingdom will have us in their grip. We'll stay safe, I promise. I won't let more harm come to you.." she said firmly, gazing at the blood stains on the girl's dress, truly meaning it. Looking up at the sun, she gauged the time they had. "The forest west of here gets dangerous at night if you don't have a fire, it's best we get going.. allow me to help you onto Scwartz?" she asked, not only to be polite, but also because the girl was still quite shell shocked. "you'll have to sit behind my saddle and hold on. we won't have a long ride." the woman was thankful that the mysterious young girl was at least cooperating, it would be difficult and upsetting to have to take someone that didn't want to go with her.

Lila just nodded and followed the night. She didn't care about her plan she just wanted to get out of there. The memory of her fathers death is still being played in her head. It not like it was something you could just forget. She tried not to cry as she slowly walked over to the horse and waited for the knight to help her on top of the horse. She wanted to get away from there as quickly as possible.

The knight stood behind Lila and spotted her, lifting her from the waist and helping her onto the back of the horse. She couldn't help but how shapely the girl was, her waist small and legs long and felt silky smooth to the touch. she really must be from a wealthy family.. she thought.

With a small grunt due to the weight of the armor she had on her legs and chest, the taller woman put a foot in one stirrup and gracefully lifted herself atop the deep brown horse, gathering the reins and turning her head a bit to speak to the girl behind her. "Hold on, I won't go fast, but you don't want to fall." She told her firmly. she applied pressure with her heels to Schwartz's midsection and he sprung to a light trot as they rode past the now flaming old barn. The caramel-haired knight couldn't help but look at it as they went by, quite a sad sight..

They entered the forest, light undergrowth and bushes brushing against the horse's legs as they tramped over leaves and dirt. She occasionally looked back to see how the girl was doing, she was exhausted, understandably. taking up the reins a bit firmer in her hands, they walked for a while more until the sun started to set. Approaching a large boulder with shrubs around it, the knight stopped her steed and gently brushed a gloved hand against the girl's thigh, she was now slumped over against the knight's back and looked like she needed a good sleep. "here.. we'll camp for the night here." she said just loud enough to rouse the girl, sliding off the saddle and standing beside the horse, holding out her arms to catch the girl as she dismounted. "here, I'll help you down."

Lila remained silent as the knight helped her up onto the horse. She nodded at her words as she wrapped her arms around the woman's waist. She was still in shock of course from the ordeal so she said nothing as they rode past the barn that was fully engulfed in flames. She did however turned her head away and buried it in the knights back as she forced back the tears. She was getting sick of crying. She wanted desperately for all of this to be a dream but she knew that was not going to happen.

She was indeed exhausted and in need of sleep. She would nod off from time to time as they rode. She was jerked out of her sleep as the knight stopped her horse and then felt her hand on her thigh. A light shade of pink formed on her cheeks as she felt the woman's hand on her thigh. She snapped out of it when the woman spoke. "O-Oh...very well" she said as she started off the horse. The combination of her exhaustion and her inexperience on a horse caused her to lose her balance and fall into the knight's arms.
