What are the varios reasons people ( myself included) like roleplay like this even tho society frowns upon it (most of the time)

I don't think society frowns upon rough sex per se, only when it's non-consensual. Even if the sex is gentle, society frown upon not getting the other party's explicit consent.

As far as why people like it... it's taboo. It's a display of assertion and dominance. Plus, some aspects of rough sex are pretty mainstream and common fetishes now, like choking (that's the new basic bitch thing) and getting tied up (thanks to things like 50 Shades).

Personally, I just like writing provocative and often times controversial stuff in my roleplays, so rough stuff is always on the table-- both consensual and non-consensual.

Im personaly disappointed that choking and other kinks are more mainstream now due to the fact that they get adopted by bloody posers and wimps that are all talk and no bark

Lmfao what is that supposed to mean? People can like choking and not want to do anything else. It’s not like you have to be a part of the hardcore BDSM community to like a couple kinks to spice up your sex life.

Anyone here that knows me, knows that in real life I'm an owned submissive. My wife is also my Mistress and Domme and rough sex is an integral part of our life...we're not talking about the softcore '50 shades' variety, I'm talking about prolonged bondage, being hung by my wrists, bent over a chair and whipped....I'm sure you get it by now.
Both men and women (although far more women than even 'Cosmo' hinted at) have always had a hidden sexual side. "(C'mon girls, raise your hand if you ever had fantasies of having your hands tied!)

Labels assigned to much of what we do they call 'Taboo'...some of it has, over the decades. become almost mainstream while others such as anal play will probably always have a stigma attached to it.
Couples that have an itch to 'spice up their love life' as Chai put it no longer have to resort to mail order....stores like Spencers offer a wide variety of bedroom bondage, vibrators and dildos and have become quite profitable.
Breathplay, also known as choking is far from commonplace, even in the BDSM circle my wife and I are a part of, they frown on it but some of the more intense dungeon play incorporates it. My Mistress doesn't like it because she wants me to experience everything with full faculties.

I know you dont have to be but for most people it sounds like they do it just to be part of the community for brownie points

Thats a very informative and detailed response. I wonder how will society react to the exposure of the BDSM community and vice versa within the next 5 to 10 years

Because I cannot live out my fantasies in real life.

I cannot reasonably enjoy blood play in reality because while it is sexy and delicious, bloodborne pathogens are a thing and uh... No thanks.

But I'll always stick with what is always true - different strokes for different folks

Very few girls are willing to get punched in the stomach, even lightly and playfully :) Which is of course completely understandable!
My kink is weird xD

I think a lot of people have 'rough' kinks, and writing is a good way to have fun with it, without hurting anyone.
No sane person wants to truly hurt another just for their pleasure - unless it is fiction.

Oh you like getting choked during sex? Name five days of their songs.

Joking aside, this is a toxic and problematic outlook on the subject of kinks. Of a person lays out a boundary or limit, it needs to be respected. Period. Open and frank discussion before engaging in sex or rp is the best way to avoid confusion and disapointment, but one needs to accept their partners limits with out judgement or shaming.

Well a bunch of secluded hobbies get adopted into the mainstream and get turned into pure garbage. I dont mind people having kinks but it seems that they only get adopted for attention by the posers, giving the BDSM community a even dimmer light of understanding

and what I am saying is that there is no such thing as poseurs in BDSM. Someone's limits and boundaries are valid and legitimate no matter how kinky or vanilla they might be. If someone isn't mature enough to respect that, they aren't mature enough to engage in it.

Good luck when the posers invade and screw up the BDSM community

This legit made me laugh x'D But you do get people who say they're into something and then only do it because they think they have to be.

I think this should be the general consensus. But, on the topic why people like rough (role)play, I think it's because of the rush. A few people I know and even others that I've been with have admitted that they really like it rough, while others have said it's a no go. Both are valid and personal approaches, and it depends entirely on personal preference and kinks which, as rule 34 shows as, those are as limitless as the universe itself.

On a personal level, I enjoy rough roleplay when I'm craving something rough myself IRL, and because I enjoy it. It's not exclusively what I enjoy, but when someone's down for some hair-pulling, spanking, name-calling or even a bit of BDSM then that kind of ignites something in me. It's hard to explain but I can totally get why someone wants a more respectful and intimate moment as opposed to something from a wild porno.

1st response) Thats what i mean bruh, things like BDSM shouldnt be so mainstream in my opinion so we dont get further shamed by the media
2nd response) thats a reasonable point if i do say so myself. I dont mind people discovering who they are/ what they are into
