"Round 'em up. The auction begins in 30 minutes."

Vivienne Winters, known by her victims and "customers" as Scàth, Irish for shadow, watched her employees begin gathering the young men and women they'd collected over the past week. Her eyes were heavily lined with black eyeliner, and her lips were a deep purple. The dress she wore was paired with tattered fishnets and heavy platform boots, and a leather choker with a skull pendant was around her throat.

She hardly looked like the ringleader of a criminal organization known for kidnapping and drug sales, but she'd been working as a crime boss for seven years now. At sixteen she began to learn the ropes from her father. At seventeen she killed him and took command. Vivienne had started small with the homeless, runaways, addicts who couldn't afford their drugs, and whores looking for something better than a cruel pimp. All the ones who wouldn't be missed, or would be assumed dead if they were. The drugs were sold under the radar in territories where more well-known dealers worked to keep attention elsewhere.

But growth had to happen eventually. Kidnappings now happened in clubs and bars. Lovely young men and women drugged and taken away by her employees to be sold. Signs that had been murdered or committed suicide would then surface some time later to delay suspicion as long as possible. But it would only last so long. There were only so many criminals bigger than her to hide in the shadows of.

And Vivienne had a feeling she would soon be sought out.

Now though she had an auction, and money to make. She smiled as one of her men was introduced as the infamous Scàth, and she stepped out on stage appearing as nothing more than eye candy to present the goods for sale. As she sauntered out in front of the cameras and the computers keeping track of the bids she had a bright smile on her face.

Let them seek and see her face. They'd never catch a shadow.
