Fifty one year old Hal Wilson considered himself a very lucky man. Granted, he had been divorced for five years, but they had been five very good years. His ex-wife had not only been caught cheating on him, she had been caught embezzling from the company she worked for when Hal caught her cheating. The divorce was swift, his ex-wife was in prison, and Hal hadn't had to give up anything. Not his salary, not his bank account, not his luxury house in a gated community, and certainly not his daughter Kennedy.

18 year old Kennedy was even more beautiful than her mother had been at that age, but that was where the comparison ended. The five foot seven dark skinned beauty was good natured, good at school, good at sports, good to her father, and never gave him any reason for concern. When she went out with boys, it was always in a group setting. Truth be told, she had only been kissed a few times, and had never even allowed light petting the few times a boy had gotten her alone for more than a minute. She was definitely no problem at all.

Hal Wilson enjoyed work just as much as he enjoyed his home life. As he approached retirement, he found himself in charge of an elite crew at the utility company. His was the crew that got sent out to survey the more complex problems and come up with solutions.

Hal got along with his crew, and the group saw each other away from work as well as during it. Once a month, Hal would have his crew over to his house for beer, cigars and poker. The games were never for big stakes. That could potentially cause dissension, and Hal had worked too hard to form his crew to make sure nothing would cause it to fall apart. But the evenings had always been enjoyable, and enough money was won by the winner every month so that the winner could good naturedly ride the losers for the next month, until it was time for another game.

The big winner last month was Hal himself, and he was looking forward to another good night. As always, Kennedy was being a dutiful daughter by Hal helping setting up for the game. She was wearing comfortable jeans and an oversized T-shirt with a "Hello Kitty" on its front, and sandals on her feet. She laughed and groaned at some lame joke her father told. As soon as Hal's crew arrived, she'd say hello to all before disappearing upstairs for the night.
